We visited from Germany on our holiday trip. We didn’t know what to expect but the moment we walked in we were surprised by all the details that were build into the facilities. We especially enjoyed our tour about the corn, rope and wood working progress. Thanks to our tour guides!! :) They are extremely friendly, enthusiastic and happy to show us around. We strongly advise you to visit on Sundays because that’s when they have the tours on.

Felt so welcome, great hosts here and some great exhibits. I loved the Scout den and the garage. Took a million photos because it was so much to soak up!

Lots of picnic area's, so wished we had packed one. The displays that are animated and interactive make the tour better. The live presentations by Peter & Roger were fantastic! Clean, well organised and a good reminder of how advanced we are as a human race. Grounds were impeccable. 🤔💡 1. perhaps offer a paid (or not paid) Tour Guide Service who could add to the stories of the historic days, of both Butchulla People & the early settlers and to now. All around the world tour guides help relive the past. This precincts journey is equally as worthy. 2. Perhaps partner with a Cafe 3. Perhaps have a play staged from time to time (particularly given your neighbours 🎭 Thanks again for a good visit.

Such a great museum! As we entered the place, we were welcomed by two volunteers who were friendly and knowledgeable! The museum is very well maintained and organised. It was a very interesting morning where we had the opportunity to learn more about Hervey Bay history.

What an awesome place of discovery of history. Lots of memories. Well worth the entry of $10. Very well set out and well maintained with shows during the day, but we were too early for those. It was a highlight on our trip to Hervey Bay.

Wow, what a great museum, it only looks small at the front but it goes waaaay back 😁 loved the boats in the nautical building, the clothes museum has a awesome old fire place in it,🔥 the settler slab cottage is incredible, so hard to imagine how people lived only a lifetime ago! Excellent and informative stroll through local history. Engaging speakers giving us a vivid sense of what life was like, old time skills such as rope making and heroic war stories. Very worthwhile.

This museum is absolutely amazing. The historical buildings and treasure trove of antiques provide visitors to the area a remarkable insight to life in the past and a wonderful trip down memory lane. The volunteers do an incredible job and should be praised for their amazing efforts. The photos are a very, very small sample of what you can expect to see. Set yourself two days to truly enjoy the experience of this blast from the past visit.

Pretty awesome place. Way larger than we thought, from the entrance. We really enjoyed walking around all the village, there was so much contained in every building & room! A bit shocking to see how much of the stuff we have actually used! Haha 🤣

What a gem. The volunteers do an excellent job of maintaining and displaying the many artefacts donated to this museum. Thoroughly enjoyed the Blacksmith, corn pulling and rope making demonstrations, very informative. Home to what was salvaged from the wreck of the Maheno. Delightful period cottages, school room, shops, machinery, fire brigade displays etc etc this place has something for everyone. Very nostalgic.

What a great museum, got there just after it opened at 1pm, lovely lady on reception gave us a quick guide to the village, as well as a small map. Everything we saw from the 're located buildings to the contents were immaculate, such good condition, all very well restored. Lots of fascinating information on the area. Very quiet, which suited us, and our visit was just under 2hours. A definate must if you like history, would recommend.

What a lovely hidden gem! We visited on Sunday and I have to say I was so surprised a lot bigger than I thought and so many different buildings to make your way round. Guides are helpful and knowledgeable and happy to take the time to talk you through the history. Only feedback is if you go after a lot of rainfall it can get very muddy .

Fantastic museum. I'm not generally a museum person but the displays here were great. Several things on display I have at home 😆 The range of items is extremely varied, too many to list. Staff were extremely passionate and gave a brief but detailed description of what to expect. $10 entry was a bargain for the 2 hours we spent there and could have easily spent more. BBQ facilities also available

We were amazed when we visited 8 years ago so today we could not believe how the museum has expanded. What an enjoyable couple of hours exploring the history of Hervey Bay, watching demonstrations and chatting to other visitors. Bonus - it was $2 entry for Open Day! A must do for anybody but particularly if, like us, you recognise many items from your grandparent's, parents or even your own home.
