Sumalee's service and food are outstanding. The big serving sizes and beautiful food presentation are a bonus. My family of 5 ordered 1 entrΓ©e, 5 main dishes, and some rice and we demolished them all. Not a single grain or drop was left on our plates because every dish was just so delicious. My favourite was the Massaman Lamb Curry - the lamb fell off the bone and was so tender, and the curry was very flavourful. The staff here are so kind and took really good care of us. I recommend booking in advance as it gets crowded even on the weekdays.

I had super high expectations from the reviews, but this was far from that expectation. The restaurant looks nice inside. But the food was bland and far from good quality authentic Thai food. The beef Grapow and the Sumalee garden had the exact same flavour, one just had meat. The arancini was okay, as were the beef puffs. The staff were too busy to be focused on service. If you want (in my opinion) superior Thai places to try, I would suggest 'Sibling Spice' in Carnegie, or 'D'Elephant' at Chadstone. I'm sorry I could not rate higher. Khap Khun Kap πŸ™πŸΌ

Really great restaurant. Lovely cosy atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing food. The best Thai food I have had in the area. So fresh and tasty and nicely presented. I love the tasting selection of starters a really fun way to start a meal. Love the crunchy beef, the beef is so soft and flavoursome with the perfect spice level. Highly recommend, if you want Thai food that is extra special.

10/10!! So lucky to get a table. The place is pumping and it deserves to be. Freshest Thai food in Melbourne. We braved the spicy beef and it did not disappoint. Take their warning of β€œextremely” spicy extremely seriously!! πŸ˜‚ A definite favourite and will be back soon!!

One of the best Thai food places I have ever visited in Melbourne! And the staff are very friendly and caring as well. It was an absolutely delightful experience to have dined at this place. If you are thinking that in terms of price this is not really one of the cheapest options, can I just tell you that the food will definitely be worth the money. We ordered the lamb puffs, Tom yum soup, Lemongrass Chicken, Peppercorn seefood, Lamb massaman Curry and red duck curry, all of which were very delicious and I am struggling to pick my favourite. One tip, if you have a high tolerance for spiciness, ask them to give you the authentic Thai spicy touch and you will love it! All in all, an absolute recommendation! Make a plan to go experience it for yourself if you haven't already!

Amazing new and modern charm my decor, amazing service from the start to finish and accommodated all our need. Best Thai I’ve ever had, and the beef brisket in my curry was hands down the best beef I’ve ever had in any curry, ever!!! I will come back again and again just for this one dish!! Our new Thai go to!

There are plenty of Thai restaurants and this one is worth visiting. Friday night has 2 sittings 5.30-7.45 and 8-10ish. Our group of 4 was lucky to make a booking at 6pm and even luckier when the 8oclock folk cancelled. Good food (some spicy) with the curious option of Belgian waffles as a dessert. Service was swift and smiley. It's not a big space. Full up the vibe was buzzy. Sign on the door says BYO wine only. You can order alcohol from a limited range on a drinks list. They offered a 10% discount for cash. All round enjoyable.

I’m anaphylactic to peanuts and this is the safest and most nut friendly restaurant in Melbourne. I’m always treated very kindly and the food is incredibly delicious without the nuts. Have been coming for the last 15yrs with my mum and I hope to be coming for many years to come. Tonight we tried the Beef Brisket Green curry and the beef was so soft and tender, good to try something different than our usual

Love this small family style Thai place! Excellent food and services. Most importantly, there is a gluten free menu as my hisband is a celiac. May be a bit noisy when full house!

Tonight my whole family dined in at Sumalee . The restaurant was packed to capacity proving how popular and amazing the food is . We have been to many restaurants around Melbourne but this one stands out from the rest . The authenticity of each dish was so tasty and presented in a special way . Everything was delicious. Thank you for the great food.

Had the special spicy beef brisket for dinner with some other mains ( the lemon lime fish was my mum's favourite) amazing range of food all succulent and full of flavour without being drenched in sauce. Everything that should've been crunchy had the crunch and the glaze on the pork belly was absolutely Devine. Quality food that doesn't break the bank and byo or licensed for your convenience. Will definitely be back! πŸ˜‹

We enjoyed a Thursday night dinner at this place, and it was not our first time here. The quality and variety of food are great. Service is very friendly and fast, despite the place being full, with people occupying table as soon as they become available. This is easily one of the best Thai restaurants around the area. Will definitely be back and will bring friends here, too. Thanks, Rene and the team!

Outstanding food, with superior Thai spices and flavours to a lot of "westernised" Thai places if that is your preference. Presentation is top notch, super friendly staff, intimate atmosphere.

Sumalee is undeniably one of the best Thai restaurants in Melbourne. The dishes made with love, the impeccable presentation, and the overall dining experience make it a standout gem. Whether you're a Thai food enthusiast or someone looking to embark on a culinary adventure, Sumalee is an absolute must-visit.

Sumalee is one of the best Thai restaurants I have been to. Including takeaway in lockdown. The food is amazing, the presentation is terrific and the staff are always friendly. We will keep coming back and I cannot recommend Sumalee highly enough.

Sumalee is by far one of the best Thai restaurants in Melbourne. Everything I've ever tried has been packed full of flavour – from stir fried to curries. The roti is buttery and perfect, too.

Best place to eat in Bentleigh and some of the finest Thai food I have ever eaten. Bosnus that the staff are really friendly too! Highly recommended, we will be back for sure. Also very affordable at around $30 per person.

It feels like everybody that's left a review has never eaten authentic Thai food outside of Bentleigh. None of the meals tasted anything like what an elite Thai restaurant would taste like. The papaya salad is meant to be spicy and had zero spice. Lemongrass chicken had no lemongrass. Red curry sauce was nothing like an actual red curry, and the satay sauce was an incredibly weird version that magically didn't taste like peanuts even with peanuts in it. I wish I could leave a positive review but it's genuinely below average Thai food. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

Really nice place for dinner. I had lamb shank massaman and my partner had the panang- braised beef and neither of us were disappointed. Great ambience and very friendly service. Also a very nice place to celebrate a special occasion.

Solid Thai place located in central bentleigh. The staff are super friendly, making sure that we understood that we were ordering spicy dishes. The food is tasty, fresh and presented very nicely. The coconut rice was particularly delicious. The curries were plentiful per serve but unfortunately lacked a depth of flavour. It was also on the more expensive side for a curry dish. Overall it is a nice local place.

Lovely people, lovely service. True Thai cuisine is hard to find, but with Sumalee Thai it's spot on. A family friendly atmosphere and most dishes are adaptable to dietary requirements. Definitely recommend and am coming back soon!

Nice fusion Thai food at reasonable price. We did not book ahead but was able to dine at the few outside tables. Casual and relaxing. Food was nicely presented. Didn't get the chance to try the wine though..next time.

This has been my favourite Thai restaurant for many years. The food is always delicious, arrives at the table hot and is beautifully presented. The menu is varied but also has all the β€œold faithful” dishes. Remember to book as the venue is very popular. Staff are so welcoming. A touch of Thailand on our doorstep in Melbourne. Treat yourself

Great Thai food in Bentleigh. We ordered 3 dishes (tom yum, som tum, fried fish). They're all quite good. However, the steamed rice was just OK. Otherwise, it'd have been rated 5 stars

Best Thai restaurant in Melbourne. Genuine fresh Thai food with exquisite flavours. All dishes are fantastic - you will not be disappointed. If you enjoy Thai food this restaurant is a must ! Great food and service, very friendly staff and great atmosphere. It is a small restaurant so be sure to book in advance so you are not disappointed - they are full every night which tells you something about the place. A great dining experience and well worth a visit - you will not be disappointed ! We have been back multiple times.

Great customer service. It was our last time dining before we leave the area. We paid our bill and left, however the owner noticed that we had left and came out side to thank us for our patronage over the past couple of years, and wished us good luck on our travels. This is typical of the quality of service and how the owner appreciates and respects her customers. We highly recommend anyone to try this amazing restaurant and the great food.
