Mele Guesthouse was a nice experience with a balcony view over the town. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The downfalls are, if you go by car you will have to park at a street nearby and walk a few minutes up a hill to get there. The room was also quite cold initially in the winter but heater helped after a while. It was still a good experience and room with nice breakfast.

My colleague told me: if there is one place you should stay at in Albania, then choose Mele. So I booked the place, and I could not agree more; incredible view over the city and the mountains, location very close by the main attractions, very friendly and welcoming host, and great homemade food! If you're coming by car, make sure you ask for the right directions to make the journey easier.

Spent one night here and everything was perfect. Edmond is super helpful so are his family! Rooms are quite big and well decorated. They're neat and clean. Breakfast was good enough, the view made it even better. And they make amazing turkish coffee. Tested and approved by a Turkish :) Thank you for everything

A super cute guesthouse in the old town of Gjirokastra with a great host. The lovingly decorated rooms offer everything you need. We had here the best breakfast in Albania with enchanting view.

Nicest host I've ever encounter. Him and his lovely family really make you feel at home. Breakfast is amazing and much more than what I could ever eat, and the views of the valley are just breathtaking.

Probably our best stay in Albania. Very welcoming owners and the rooms were cosy and tidy. The view at breakfast is amazing and the food delicious. Would recommend to anyone!

This is the best Guesthouse we have been to in Albania. The location is amazing, just a few minutes from the bazaar and the castle. The host was extremely helpful with the arrival and our stay there, and even helped us to book activities around town. The breakfasts were yummy, in front of the inspiring views of the Gjirokaster stone rooftops.

This was a wonderful experience. The view from our balcony was incredible to say the least. The room and bathroom were lovely and our host Edmond was extremely helpful and considerate. The breakfast was amazing as well. Truly a wonderful stay in an incredibly gorgeous city!

Book in now! This place is just amazing - the host Edmond, plus his family made our stay unforgettable. The rooms are great - imagine you are staying in your own personal castle - chandeliers and all! But the hospitality was what made it special. We were able to try some homemade wine, and enjoyed the Best Breakfast on the deck with a view of the city. Thanks so much

Mele Guesthouse is incredible! Really happy we stayed there and wish we could have extended our stay in Gjirokastër. We had an incredible welcome by our host Edmond, who couldn’t have been nicer. The room was super comfortable and we slept so well. Breakfast was gorgeous and the view unbeatable! The location was great too and as a bonus there is a super cute cat! You will love it there! Thank you Edmond :-)

I had an unforgettable experience at Mele Guesthouse in Gjirokaster, Albania. The guesthouse is located in the heart of the city, and the building itself is a beautifully restored traditional house with stunning views of the city and the mountains. The room was comfortable and clean, with all the amenities I needed for a pleasant stay. The hospitality of the owners was exceptional. They were warm and welcoming, and went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed. The owner is a great storyteller and he shared with me many interesting facts about the history and culture of Albania. The breakfast was delicious, with fresh and locally sourced products. I especially enjoyed the homemade pastries and jams. The guesthouse also has a lovely terrace where you can enjoy your breakfast with a breathtaking view.

Lovely place with lovely people. The owner and his wife are the best hosts. They are serving delicious food and make the best wine that I drink in Albania. Breakfast was super big and the most important... Owner totally respect if you allergic to something. He is trying all his best. The view from all house is gorgeous. Owner it's very peaceful, helpful and supportive person. If you visit Girokaster is the best choice to spend night or more:)

Mele Guesthpuse is an amazing place. We stopped in Girokaster just for one night and I think this guesthouse was the best choice we did. Rooms are clean and tidy with a best view on the city. Everything is simple but with all the comforts. The location is perfect cause you are in the middle of the old town near the skenduli house ( which I really suggest to visit). The dinner was one of the best we had in Albania: typical meals and big portions for a really good price. You can eat on the terrace with a stunning view on the village and the mountains. I would suggest to take the room with breakfast included; you ll have a salty and sweet breakfast, with omelette, fresh veggies, bread, tea, coffe, orange juice, fruits and delicious jams and a typical cake ( looks like a pancake, so yummy!!!). Furthermore, Edmond and his family are so nice and careful about you and your staying. They helped us with the car parking, luggages etc. and they were always available! We were really lucky to find a place where we felt like home , in our last days of vacation. Thank you for your kindness and your love. I can just wish you the best for everything !❤️ Marta

Super lovely family run guesthouse located very closeby the main sights! By far our favorite stay during our visit to Albania! In additin to the comfortable room and for sure the best views overlooking the town and the mountains we were welcomed by friendly and fun owner. He speaks good English and goes far beyond what I had expected from our stay. He even helped with parking the car for us :) They also have a lovely terrace with magnificent view where they also serve breakfast. Thank you for welcoming us even though it was such last minute visit, we were lucky for you to be on the street at the right time before we ended at another house :), next time when we are in town we will know to book ahead!!

Edmond, the owner/operator, despite looking EXACTLY like a young Antonio Banderas, was very down to earth and engaging...and his wife and children were very charming - and his wife makes a hearty and delicious breakfast daily- with view you simply cannot capture with a camera. Edmond's English is fantastic, and he often leads people to trail heads and other scouting adventures, so don't be afraid to ask. The rooms are comfortable, quiet, safe, and charming in a quirky way, especially in such an old-world environment! It is the perfect short walk from.the bazaar section of town, without being so in it that one feels that every visitor to the shops is at their doorstep...I had privacy AND proximity. Perfect! It was also right next to one of the historic mosques, which was fun to pick out of the cityscape as I got further up and away on the mountain (but it is a museum, so there were no loudspeaker calls to prayer that bothered me - at least, I didn't hear them in my thick walked, comfy stone room! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Our host, Edmond, is so helpful, responsive and accommodating. Even before we got here, he helped us very quickly with answers to all our questions. The taxi was waiting for us at the bus station. Once we reached the apartment, we were warmly welcomed. The room is spacious enough and has a beautiful view. The balcony has two chairs with a great view of the Gjirokaster castle. The breakfast was delicious and homemade. The breakfast seating area also had lovely views of Gjirokaster. Our stay was fantastic, thanks to Edmond and his hospitality. We will definitely recommend

Edmond and his family were wonderful. The guesthouse is beautiful with a beautiful view for breakfast, and the view from the balcony in our room was stunning. We would definitely stay there again when we visit Gjirokastër.
