If I could, I would give 10* in service. The couple as so gentle and so nice. Food was tasty indeed. They can not speak good english. But, it did not affect the communication between us. Yes, the restaurant looks bit older, the decoration is not so eye catching. But, do not hesitate to visit there. Good food is waiting for you... Recommended...!

A small family owned tavern with great home-made food. The tavern was small and we were hesitating to go at first, but we didn’t regret it. Food was nothing fancy, but all very decent, spiced with a lot of local oregano. We ordered byrek with spinach, country salad, stuffed aubergine and got some small extras like bread and fruits served on the side. They were also very attentive to our 20 m.o. child and served him yogurt which was not on the menu. Definitely recommended!

This is a family owned business. The food is great, they used a lot of fresh herbs. We ordered yogurt with fruit, stuffed pepper with rice, moussaka and potatoes. they gave us compliment drinks made from cinnamon. I am not a big fans of cinnamon but the kid loves it and he drank all. The complimentary water melon is sweet too. Not sure about the bread but I think should be complimentary but I didn't accept it because we were sure we cannot finished it.

We had a good lunch here. Great terrace and good service. Most tourists go to Kardashi across the street, but that's probably only because they went viral on TripAdvisor. Lani is a great place to visit on your walk to or from the Ali Pasha bridge :)

The gentleman who runs the place is lovely. He is very warm and welcoming and tries very hard to make you feel at home. He served me a syrupy welcome drink made from cloves , sugar & cinnamon and additionally even served me a small chocolate covered cake bite , which I think was very sweet. The pilaf was this buttery , well cooked rice (maybe with some cheese / egg) which is very yummy. The eggplant & stuffed pepper was nice too but could have been less oily. The meatball was nice and crispy. There this lady who works there (is what he told me) she brings a very weird vibe to the palace unfortunately. And she isn’t nice to animals which is a big turn off for me.

Mr. Lani and his wife are amazing! We stayed in the village for 3 days and they made our days more special. It was awesome to get to know more about them and their life here. We came for dinner and came back the next day for some tea - they serve a nice tradional cinnamon-clove drink that tastes great! They also have a great selection of hugs and bags Make sure you stop by!

It was good but the portions were very small. If you order 1 of something - it’s not the whole meal but just a piece.

I ordered stuffed eggplant and beer. This came with some bread. Total cost 550 lek. The food was good. The staff was friendly. There were two people serving and they were very busy. One could see them running around with food and empty plates, so probably they might have not managed to clean the tables straight away after each customers left.

Traditional restaurant offering dishes with local produced ingredients in a very cozy garden. The food was amazing and the staff is very friendly. If you're looking for a genuine taste of the local cuisine in a simple yet delightful setting, this restaurant is a must-visit! In our opinion the best restaurant in the area!

Staying nearby for a few days, we tried a couple restaurants in this little neighborhood. Taverna Lani was our favorite; from the food to the lovely family running it, we enjoyed every moment.

It's very hard for me to judge this place. Food is good, service is really nice! Plus a nice garden. However, when we were, the glasses were not very clean, the owner's mother probably helped in handling, but she was quite strange and introduced a strange atmosphere. The biggest complaint is that the food was simply reheated in the microwave. Improve cleanliness and reheat food better and it'll be really good!

Taverna Lani was a highlight of our trip to Gjirokaster!! Lani and his wife and mother were so hospitable and really made us feel cared for. We passed by on our way up to the Ali Pasha bridge, and decided on the way back to stop at Taverna Lani for some food. We had the qifqi, musaka, stuffed peppers, sarma, fusale beans, and then she gave us some complimentary cake after our meal. So delicious. They accommodated for our vegan friend with vegetables and meals with no eggs or milk. Everything made there was vegeterian!! They both taught us some Albanian words and chatted with us to make us feel welcome… shumeer e shijshme! Very tasty!!

Loved the small restaurant! The omelette was really good! The owner is super hospitable but not overwhelming. When I asked about the castle ticket price, he took me to the grocery store next door and made sure I got help. Such a lovely experience!

Unreasonable prices, microwaved meals, pushy owner and they forget your orders. How is this place so highly rated?? There are many nice restaurants in the city, stay away from this one.

Very yummy home cook food. We love the meatball soup so much we order it twice! The broth is so creamy and flavorful. Highly recommend!

The Qifqi (delicious fried Albanian rice balls that are from this region) are made to order here. The Qifqis here we're really fresh and were the best ones I had in Gjirokaster since many of the other places will simply reheat them. In general the wonderful food and hospitality meant we had a great time there!

Amazing food...stuffed peppers and eggplant are amongst the best I have had in Albania. The family is very warm and welcoming! Great experience!

I have traveled all around Albania and this was the best traditional restaurant! The food was delicious, with a lot of quality and the portions were very good. The restaurant is a family business, and the family was the most warm, welcoming, and lovely people I have met in Albania. They were genuinely lovely and generous. If you came to Gjirokaster you could not miss this restaurant! :)

Great traditional place for having dinner or lunch. The food was delicious and big portions, the family running the taverna very friendly and the owner always kind making us feeling like home. I definitely recommend this place! I recommend the mixed Byrek (a traditional pie mixed with pepers, onin, tomato and cheese) and the meat balls. For dessert, we have tried the Oshaf (a traditional pudding made of dried figs, sugar and sheep milk), all delicious!!!

We decided to visit this place and repay the kindness after the owner - Lani, offered his help by showing us the way to our hotel. Let me tell you, this is a hospitality experience. If you want to feel right at home and enjoy someone cooking for you, be sure to stop by. We were welcomed with a free homebrewed clove extract drink, and treats. You could tell the food was cooked with love and we were treated like house guests, not clients. Lani also went out of his way to make us feel entertained while respecting our privacy. He even shared a book with us where he and his family were featured for historically cooking through the ages. Expect good traditional food and very reasonable prices.
