A
pleasant
open
site
with
a
scattering
of
trees
that
allow
views
in
all
directions.
It's
a
lovely
setting.
Caravans
are
well
spaced
and
easy
access
for
setting
up.
It's
a
pity
it's
not
open
in
winter!
The
toilet
block
and
facilities
are
decent
and
kept
clean.
It's
early
September
and
we've
not
had
to
queue
for
the
toilets/
showers
although
there's
potential
for
queueing
at
busy
times
as
only
3
showers
in
both
male
and
female
washrooms.
The
wifi
isn't
up
too
much
and
kept
dropping
out
every
few
minutes
but
4g
data
signal
was
fine
on
Vodafone
and
BT
sims.
At
the
bottom
of
the
site
there's
access
to
Thirlstane
Castle
drive
that
gives
access
to
walks
suitable
for
dogs
and
the
castle
itself.
If
you
drop
onto
the
drive
and
head
toward
the
Castle
there's
a
'cross
road'.
Turn
right
and
head
toward
a
bridge
at
the
bottom.
Just
before
the
bridge
go
through
a
5
bar
gate
on
the
left
and
you're
on
the
"Lauder
Loop"
walk
made
up
of
mown
grass
walkways
along
the
riverside
and
a
gravelled
road
at
the
town
end.
This
takes
about
35
mins
from
the
site
to
the
town
near
the
Co-op.
We've
really
enjoyed
staying
here
and
found
it
a
good
area
for
visiting
historic
sites
in
all
directions.
