Absolute jewel of a pub which serves excellent cask ale. They had three Fyne ales on hand pull and also a load of keg beers. The interior is like a time capsule and the staff and locals are very friendly. Will definitely be a regular spot for me

What an absolutely outstanding bar!!!! Great atmosphere, the staff were amazing and had great banter!!!!! Even going over and above to get us red bull. That was 1st class service. Could had stayed there all day but we were on a sub crawl. We will definitely be back though.

Excellent old school Glasgow pub with character. It's also on the sub crawl route so don't be surprised if a few people pile in for a drink then leave. Would Def recommend. Best pint of Guinness around.

Such a great pub to while away an afternoon. Relaxed and full of atmosphere. Barman knowledgeable and super friendly. If you have a pie - definitely get the peas and gravy.

Best pub on Earth. I will mentally travel here every time I have a drink from here on out. Lots of history inside, great photographs, artwork, and an overall lovely, down to earth atmosphere. The owners are extremely friendly and welcoming. Willing to tell their story and make you feel at home.

An absolute gem of a Glasgow city centre pub. Family run since dot. Decor is beautifully original. Great real ales from Fyne brewery plus a host of other great drinks. If you're ever in Glasgow, pop in. You'll be glad you did.🙂🍺👍

Clearly one of the best pubs in the UK, if not the world. A stunning design time capsule, but also a genuine friendly local boozer. (The beer was really well served also).

Probably the best pub in Glasgow. First class service, cracking atmosphere, brilliant ales. Can't ask for much more in a pub.

One of the best true pubs in Glasgow, no gimmiks, just good beer and great staff. Get down there when you can

We drove up from Newcastle to go to a gig at O2 academy and we called into the Laurieston for a drink before it. As I was driving I just wanted a cup of coffee and the wonderful guy behind the bar made me one and brought out biscuits too. I've never enjoyed a cup of coffee so much. Thank you 😊

Never judge a book by it's cover. And don't judge the Laurieston Bar by it's looks or location. It is a great bar inside and full of friendly staff and great people. It is a great place to visit.

I absolutely love this bar. It's always been my favourite stop on the infamous subcrawl. The staff are very friendly, and the take a picture of every subcrawl group, which they add to the many years in the photo albums. Its great looking back at previous visits.

It's just a pub... the best pub in Glasgow obviously. Cracking and friendly atmosphere with a mix of beers and ales alongside the usual pub offerings. Friendly staff and always feel welcome here. The best stop on the subcrawl and a great wee place to stop in for a chill pint.

A gem of a bar with real character. Like being in a time warp back to the 60s, though fortunately the beer isn't!

A Glasgow institution and well worth visiting: staff make you feel welcome and provided us with good walking route, in luding other pubs, of the area. Great pint of Guinness in a relaxed friendly bar.

Great place to have a pint. The atmosphere is rich and the bartenders and patrons are very friendly. Highly recommended if you are looking for an authentic pub.

Was in here prior to a gig at the O2 academy, had a great time speaking to the locals who in turn were friendly. It was very busy but the bar staff done a great job of refilling everyone's drinks. Proper bar. Cheers

Didn't get the middle tap Guinness. Pint was average at best. Next time will get middle tap as recommended by Girl Drinks Guinness.

Great, unchanged proper pub. Good beers, friendly atmosphere. Could've stayed a lot longer. Didn't try the pies but will next time.

Loved the place. Old school in modern times. The owner John gave us a tour and reminisced with us and it was great. Got served what he called 'fine dining at the Laurieston' consisting of a pie and sausage roll with gravy and peas. Excellent.

How pubs use to be, should be! Excellent 5 stars.. Proper traditional pub, you must try and very welcoming.

Great pub next to the O2 academy proper old skool and the way a pub should be cheap nice selection of booze as well as some lovely fresh warm pies on sale

  • 5/5 Brian H. 1 year ago on Google
A great pub to visit before a gig at the Academy. You can get an honest pint at a reasonable price and you're a stone's throw from the centre of the city. Cannae beat it.

Signs on the outside alluded to being a previous pub of the year winner, 2018 apparently....It's a bit of a time warp walking in as it looks like it's not been decorated in a LONG time but after all is said and done there was a good atmosphere and friendly staff which is what really matters, oh and cold beer, as it should be. Decent wee boozer to kill some time in before or after going to the Glasgow 02 for whatever show you're there to see.

Don't let the dodgy exterior put you off. Really friendly staff - one of the friendliest welcomes I've had in Glasgow (and I'm an Englishman!). Cracking pint of Guinness (can see why the Guinness Guru rated this place) and the whole place reeks of character - proper boozer. Reasonably priced too. Was on a mini subcrawl and definitely the highlight of the day - recommended! Only point is remember to bring cash as it's cash-only (although looking at the place you'd likely assume that!)

Love this place. Manages to be both sweetly nostalgic and bang up to date all at the same time. Beer good too with old fashioned good service. Brilliant

Southside history and a pint. What more could you ask. The elderly gent who owns this pub couldn't be more welcoming. He lined us up a few local brewed cask ales to taste before we'd even taken our seats. Well worth a visit.

Rather expensive for what you get - aged decor, tight seating, small tvs showing sport. They also don't accept card? This bar needs to modernise in a big way in my eyes. If you're planning a sub crawl - consider skipping this stop

A real pub that understands how to serve alcohol, with decor going back to the sixties which adds to the character!! Toilets stink a bit, hence the loss of a star!
