We had the absolute best wedding we could have imagined at this venue. Everything was perfect from the very first day of planning all the way until the end. Pauline was such a wonderful person to work with! We wish we could do it all over again! ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you for everything. Can't wait to come back for another visit or maybe someone else's wedding! Loved this place! Steak pie was great!! Fish and chips were awesome! We had a couple drinks and a whiskey. The atmosphere was electric!

Very lovely pub and atmosphere however I'd only recommend it for drinks, which are fortunately pretty cheap. The food is all moderately priced and there's a good selection however we didn't feel we got much for what we bought. The burgers don't include chips which is pretty uncommon and were not super filling. The food also took a while to arrive and we felt kinda cut off from the waiters at the back of the restaurant.

Spacious, well thought out Covid-safe plan. Lovely decor. Friendly staff with a great selection of drinks. (Opted for a local specialty, vodka and Iron Bru 🤣)

What an amazing venue. The only reason I can't give it 5* is because I think they should invest in A/C in the upper function room. Other than that it was perfect. Fantastic food! Sharp service and obviously a beautiful room. Was well worth the trip up from Coventry for the visit.

Great smaller music venue in a generally very nice part of Glasgow. Drinks priced very reasonably and all the staff friendly. Would love to get back at some point.

A nice place. Can sit outside in the sun or inside. Very busy place and we were lucky to get seats inside as outside was all being used. and it was a bit stuffy inside as it was a warm day. The decor was good. The guy serving was nice and pleasant. The beer went down well

A must see attraction in Glasgow.. it has a the most beautiful design and very cosy atmosphere.. my wife and I attended the candle lights Han Zimmer concert which was phenomenal.. I'd love to come back and see this monument of art during weekends.. acceptable prices for the venue.. Absolutely great value for the services.. highly recommended for couples

Was in a couple of weeks previously and it was brilliant. The main bar. Great live music during Celtic Connections, great service, decent beer and bar snacks at reasonable prices but I think.it must've been understaffed this time. Rugby was on screens but bar not as busy as last time I'd been in. Waited a long time to get served with no luck, staff looked a bit unhappy and we just weren't feeling it. Left without being served, I'm afraid. Usually a great place though.

Quick pit stop for coffee and a pint if ale. Staff happy to help with disabled access. Lift to all floors. Food very expensive. A special occasion place. Plenty of seating, some of it from the original church building. We'll worth a visit. They also sometimes have live entertainment.

Food was AMAZING! I had the salmon, definitely recommend! Cocktails were tasty and priced as cocktails usually are, expensive! Atmosphere was jumping with of very mixed age group. Personally too loud and busy for me for definitely a great place to go out! Also a great dog friendly pub!

Had a pre-Christmas dinner with my colleagues. It was a lovely evening. The atmosphere were soothing and the vibe was right. Our waitress was amazing. There were 9 of us and it seemed like each person's meal order was fantastic. I had the Smoked Ham Hough Press for the starter and the Oran Mor Burger for the main. Both were delicious 😋

Family reunion trip to Glasgow 2022. We stopped in for a wee dram and as it was so beautiful in the main bar area, I asked if I could see the private lounge area upstairs. The staff were lovely and accommodated me, even though there was an event taking place in the main ballroom. They took me upstairs and let me take pictures - such a gorgeous building.

No music so lacks atmosphere. Food not great but venue is very pretty. Certain bouncers are very rude - seem to get a kick out of it.

Nice ambience inside converted church. Definitely one of the go-to places in the west end. We had some very nice wine with a very affordable cheese plate.

Had a company ball here. The planners were professional and the night itself we had was amazing- a unique setting fantastic entertainment and a sumptuous 3 course meal. I'd definitely recommend this for anyone planning a party!

Excellent pub food, big portions, good service. They even have some gluten free options available. The church itself is grand and the Botanical Gardens are right on the other side of the road. Keen observers can also spot a Tardis nearby.

  • 5/5 Sara R. 4 years ago on Google
I love this building (a converted church) which does food and drinks and also concerts downstairs. I've been many times over the years. I'd go for drinks with friends or a meal with family. On this occasion we were there for the panto (a play when not Dec), pie & pint which I'd highly recommend.

Family section is a cold and draughty conservatory. Toilets decrepit. Strong smell of fish. Pretty ordinary average pub food. Fries in a small galvanized bucket. Hand cut chips too. Both smelled of old frying oil that needed to be changed. A tad expensive for what you get and the climate. Service was brisk enough. Problem with signal on wireless card payment reader in family conservatory. Not trendy, not quaint, not a family place, probably more of an old person pub.

Love this place. Great pub, great atmosphere. And of a weekend night, downstairs is a superb club. No door fee, and sensible, friendly door staff. Prices are reasonable, service usually swift (given the number of customers).

Unbelievably quiet today, but very well managed for Covid-19 arrangements. The Cullen Skink remains one of the best I've had, and there is nice lunch sized portion of haggis, neeps and tatties with a mustard sauce that's great value.

  • 5/5 Morgan R. 4 years ago on Google
Dined in the bistro for dinner and had the £17.95 3 course pre theater dinner that included a glass of wine. Food was impeccable and large portions for the price. We had the soup of the day and duck confit for our first course. For mains I ordered the chicken which I have to say is some of the best chicken I have ever had. Soft and full of flavor. My boyfriend ordered the beef rump meal which he very much enjoyed. We then had the cheese selection and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Amazing meal!

Certainly an unusual experience to drink and eat in a church. It's a very nice spot though. Definitely a must try when in the area. They make great classical haggis, offer good beer and such. Staff was very pleasant too.

I had dinner at the restaurant which had a lovely and intimate setting. I also had a chance to glimpse into the beer hall which is very atmospheric and highly recommended for a few pints with friends. Food at restaurant is decent and every ingredient was perfectly cooked. But compared to similar priced Scottish restaurants which I had been, the flavour of dishes are quite 1 dimensional and not as complex. Overall still a good place for dinner.

Covid safe bar. Visited last weekend. The staff were all wearing masks. The bouncers made sure the table sizes stayed under 8. There is lots of hand sanitizer. The menus were paper and single use. The staff cleaned the tables between uses, even outside in the beer Garden.

Great place for a few cocktails with friends. Very social nighttime atmosphere with quirky decor. Also has a downstairs that is set up for concerts and music. It’s good size for seeing artists at it is quite small and intimate. I have also seen many people have ceremonies and wedding here. This place seems to do it all! Haven’t tried the food.

First time back at A Play A Pie and A Pint since the pandemic and it didn't disappoint. The play was very entertaining but perhaps more importantly the pie was one of the tastiest I've ever had. Excellent short pastry and very nice lamb, beautifully spiced. Lager was also very nice.

We had a meal before going to Thee Sacred Souls concert at the venue. Great decor and off the wall paintings - literally, look up. Food great - varied menu - Cullen Skink & lamb pie excellent. Others had fish & chips , mac n cheese both huge portions. And roast chicken breast , just the right amount 😋. Meal with two drinks each £30 per head. Finally, got to mention the decor in the men's room - fabulous.

This was a last minute choice, going here for weekend brunch that is located inside an old church, and it did not disappoint! I had their vegan English breakfast and they veganized everything. They excluded the haggis from my plate, having double checked that it actually had egg in it, but I appreciated that they didn't put it on my plate in the first place, and even offered to get me some tea instead. Great place for non vegans too.
