If you are looking for a treat then you can not go wrong here, great space and the staff so friendly. We had the tasting menu £65pp so not cheap but it was a treat and the food did not disappoint. Very creative, looked amazing and tasted delightful.

Came to this restaurant and overall was a good experience. Service was the highlight of our visit, with our server being super helpful at explaining the menu as requested. Food was a bit of a hit and miss, but good overall. The cocktails were great and they do offer an interesting selection. Overall worth a visit

Amazing restaurant with friendly, attentive and informative waiting staff. Lovely atmosphere and absolutely delicious food cooked to perfection. Not to mention the unique and lovely cocktails! I don't tend to spend very much on food nor eat out often, but this place, despite being a little above my range, was worth every penny!!

What an awesome find! Hands down the best food we tasted in Glasgow 🤤 The location is super unique and the atmosphere is chic with a trendy vibe. Easily a romantic date night or dinner with good friends. Great wine list and all the dishes were elevated with amazing flavor profiles. Their presentation was on point 👌 This will definitely be on our recommendation list for friends and family traveling to Glasgow. Would recommend a reservation, but general seating is available. Great location 💯

Have to look for it, down a side street, but worth the hunt. Roasted lamb and baked cod. Sounds simple but, prepared to perfection. Great wine list and desserts. Upstairs is casual dining and downstairs is more fine dining. We had mussels from the upstairs menu for a starter, entrees from downstairs. Kitchen closes from 3-4 pm, so plan.

It's been over 5 years since we last dined here and I'm pleased to report it's still as good as ever. The food is excellent as is the service. We look forward to visiting again on our next visit to Glasgow.

Such a very beautiful place 😍, I liked it very much. They accepted us without any reservation, but it's better to call before going because the place works a lot. The service deserves five star. The food is very good. You ought to try. Totally suggested.

Went here for lunch in the downstairs with a friend. We both had the scallops starter - delicious! Great flavors. She had the tender-stem broccoli main and I had the lamb. Mine was good. Wouldn’t order it again but it was pleasant. She loved hers. The waitstaff is great - very helpful, nice and relaxed.

We had the taster menu with the wine flight. The food and wine were a great match and made the evening great. Service was friendly and good.

My main is less inspiring — ricotta and chestnut croquettes. The powder gives the sprouts a tempura-like crispness. The base of the squash puree is cold, though, and the rocket garnish miserably flaccid. The croquettes themselves are floury — overwhelmingly so. One is pleasant; two is a chore.

Good place for taking your partner out. We had a great time in the restaurant. We took the non-vegetarian tasting menus and even though they come at a cost, they are worth it. It’s like a food journey and you can easily spend three hours in the restaurant and enjoy a nice evening. Also, we had the wine flight (basic) which made the tasting menu very sound. Overall, a great place in a cosy atmosphere with good food and wine.

Haven't been to this Glasgow Institution for years, but went all in on Saturday with friends. Nothing has changed , still great , compliments the Ashton Lane beautifully. Best whisky menu in Scotland after Amber Edinburgh.....

Classy joint , Fustenburgh on draught, scan menu with smart phone. No riff raff.Wine by bottle, halleluja.More wine on list than you can point a stick at.That's in restaurant.Gourmet food, good distancing, table wise.Never any female cackling, much more refined. No naffness here.In lockdown.

It's a trendy restaurant near the University of Glasgow. The bartender and staff are very friendly and helpful. We had the scallops and celeriac for starters. The rib eye and the trout for dinner. They also have variety of Scotish whiskey. We didn't have reservations, but we came early enough. Suggest making a reservation.

Nice posh restaurant. Service was absolutely brilliant, food is prepared in a timely manner and it was really tasty. Definitely recommended, just be aware of the prices.

Absolutely brilliant tasting menu with an even more incredible wine pairing. Alistair (our waiter) was truly gifted and showed a deep love and dedication to the craft of wine pairing. An amazing experience that must be had when visiting Glasgow!

Definitely the place for a fancy occasion, it's otherwise a bit too pricey for a casual meal. But the service and atmosphere are sublime. Their selection of ice wines are incredible, and the food overall were delicious. They looked small but were actually very filling!

Amazing decor. Great drinks and menu. Loved having a vegetarian tasting menu. Wish they advised we needed to specify if we wanted a tasting menu when making our reservation. Glad they were able to accommodate. Time in between courses was a bit long. Looking forward to coming back.

The inside of The Ubiquitous Chip is worth the trip alone, so incredibly stunning. This is a must! Food & wine is awesome, service was really great! So glad we got a reservation here, added a great experience to our trip!

Really good food as good as any Michelin star restaurant I have been to but not the prices of the latter. Service was good as were the cocktails, had a tremendous expresso martini.

  • 5/5 Robby R. 4 years ago on Google
I can't find any fault with the place. Lovely dining settings surrounded by exotic plants, impressive bar with ample selection of beers on tap & wines. You can choose between the brasserie or the restaurant and both menus are equally good. I tried the food at the brasserie and the flavour of the dishes blew me away. Modern presentation with immense amount of flavour. I highly recommend to give this place a visit.

I went to the Ubiquitous Chip in 1975 taken there by Colin Finn whilst on tour with Kraftwerk. Colin kindly explained what Ubiquitous meant!!!! I have never forgotten the place not the meaning! But this does not look at all like the place where I went. Have you moved or are you something entirely different?

Great food but incredibly poor service - empty glasses/ side plates/ empty bottles weren’t cleaned away despite asking several times, sommelier never came despite promising they would, super slow bringing of water/ drinks and food - bad service left a bad taste in our mouth. Felt like we were left / ignored in the corner. Raised our concerns halfway through meal and staff gave us free wine to compensate however service didn’t pick up dramatically. Maybe we were unlucky as the food is great and the decor is lush however we were disappointed. Would recommend as the food was tops but ensure you have set aside plenty of time for a looooong meal

  • 5/5 Josh O. 3 years ago on Google
We had a really lovely evening. The waiting staff and the sommelier were all super friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. Menu was exciting, unusual and of course fantastically tasty. The building itself really adds to the setting too!

My boyfriend and I came here for our first seated dining experience since the lockdown. We went with the tasting menu, which you need to prebook and prepay for £60 per person. We wanted a local but somewhat special experience and I think it really hit the spot. It's located in a cute cobblestone street alley with plenty of parking just steps away. We were seated quickly and there were covid precautions for the staff, bathrooms, and menus. It was weird sitting in public again, but it didn't feel like we were too close to other patrons. Food was pretty fantastic all around. Great portions, beautiful presentation, and very interesting and flavorful. The scallop was a favorite for both of us. The only misses were the pineapple granita palate cleanser (too sweet) and the dessert, which was very rich coming off of an already rich main course. Might be personal preference, but I don't enjoy a heavy and very sweet finish to tasting menus. Overall we had a great time and would definitely come back.

Average food, high prices. The steaks, although cooked well, weren't particularly tasty, perhaps as the meat wasn't of high quality. The meal was expensive, more than it would have cost for the same food nearby.

This place is gorgeous! Its definitely an experience to walk in here I loved all the indoor plants and the beautiful garden they created. They also had a fountain in the corner and the space is brightly lit since the roof is glass which lets in a lot of sunlight. They told me all the plants were real as well, and as a succulent lover, this place was my paradise! Great drinks, well mixed - i recommend the peach daiquiri. We got these to start. Haggis venison was outstanding and it comes with neeps and tatties, beautifully arrangled on the plate, I will say the portions are on the smaller side but if you're there for lunch its a good meal, dinner portions are larger they said. It is a little expensive for the price but just order more, you're paying for the space Dessert of crowdie cheese cake is showstopper and I highly recommend getting this if youre here. You can digest it by walking around ashton lane after that :) Great service- there is seating on top I recommend getting as high up to the skylight as you can but all the spaces in this restaurant are lovely. The staff is good and help with offering tourist recommendations as well as details on food presentation and helping with allergies Great bathrooms and lots of them so less waiting. Also uniquely spaced and interesting layout of the whole restaurant

Helpful and friendly staff, they said the haggis is not of a big portion, but was enough and absolutely fantastic. I would recommend to try with the whisky sauce. Tried the Interesting Islay flight, which was a great whisky experience

  • 5/5 Mária B. 4 years ago on Google
Very stylish, cozy place with friendly waitresses. I had my really first Haggis there and definitely would have it again. From whiskeys we had the Interesting Islay - it was a good choice :)

  • 2/5 Elivia P. 4 years ago on Google
Pork belly was a small piece of very fatty meat. Hand cut chips didn't come with the pork belly so we had to finish the tiny piece of meat and then eat the chips separately. The waitress, her first shift, was excellent as was David the Spanish waiter. Not good value for money. Avoid the pork belly.

Absolutely loved the restaurant. This is definitely one of the best western food I have had in the UK. The place was nicely decorated, and the food was great. We had to wait some time for the food, but definitely worth the wait. The desert was absolutely divine.

25th year in a row for anniversary meal. Although they couldn't accommodate today due to opening restrictions we went for a late lunch yesterday. We were warmly received with a 'happy anniversary ' for our tasting menu experience. I cannot fault the food and the professionalism of the waiting staff. Nice pauses in-between courses and a good selection of mocktails and alcohol free wines and beers available. We had G&tea !! Fabulous meal, as usual, and well worth the cost for such a lovely meal in verdant surroundings. The only suggestion I have is that we would like to have known that there was a drinks pairing available at an extra cost which we would have gone for if it had not been marked at the very bottom of the menu. Move it to the top, guys!! Full marks to all. Can't wait until next time.

Lovely place if you’re in Glasgow. Surrounded by eateries and pubs, Ubiquitous Chip stands out for its remarkable food, wonderful ambience and lovely staff. The knowledgeable staff made excellent recommendations (to us and others we overheard) especially when it came to drink. A definite recommendation if you’re in Glasgow.

I am a regular, staff are very friendly, welcoming efficient and always pleased to recommend as I often visit on my own they mKe me feel comfortable. Its lovely to sit outside to soak up Ashton Lanes windeful atmosphere. Cocktails are amazing, try the elderflower one, delicious! I usually have the mussels and langoustinos and clams and octopus when available. I always entertain visitors here and they're always impressed too. The decor inside is beautiful too. Thank you guys, thumbs up

You wouldn’t expect such a nice place judging from such an unassuming outside. The restaurant is lovely and somehow reminded me of the Bluebird in Chelsea, with tropical vegetation inside, giving dinners more privacy. We tried the à la carte menu and had a delicious Sunday roast with gorgeous wine. It’s not cheap but very decently priced given the quality. We enjoyed our meal very much and were well taken care of by a friendly waitress.

Great service by staff in the upstaits bar for food when they're usually the bar staff did a great job. Only issue was the starter of venison black pudding was hard on the bottom, they had none of both choices of main course, ended up having steak, but they reduced price due to this. Great service again. Will 100% go back.

Nice settings, but this is an old man's pub. I watched one bar manager, for absolutely NO REASON swear at and humiliate a customer... Never seen anything like that, anywhere, before. Wish I'd taped it, but it was so unbelievable I just don't think of it at the time

  • 4/5 cristina c. 3 years ago on Google
Food is great , we enjoyed everything.!!! Quite pricey.

  • 2/5 E B. 3 years ago on Google
The decor of the restaurant is very nice and their food, although a bit pricey, is technically well elaborated using good quality ingredients. However, the service was too slow and not very professional. We went for the ‘a la carte’ menu and, after our waiter literally threw some cutlery and plates into our table, we had to wait 35 minutes for the starters to arrive and then another half an hour for the mains to be served. We left without trying the desserts as we were fed up of waiting. Needless to say we were not impressed and won’t be coming back to this restaurant in our next visit to Glasgow.

Celebration dinner here and it was a terrific choice! My food photographs tell the story 😊. Guinea fowl was an especially good surprise and I'll aspire to cook the ones I shoot in future to their standard! One disappointment was the scallops. They used to be from Islay I believe and these seemed to have less flavour and I also like them better when the roe is still attached. Overall a recommended place.

Incredible service, delicious food, wonderful atmosphere. Had an amazing dinner out for my husband's birthday. The staff were brilliant, helping us choose what wines would go with our food. Asked specifically if we had any dietary requirements before the meal as well so they could cater for these if needed. Couldn't recommend going out for dinner here highly enough!

Nice atmosphere, popular place with different seating options. Started with a smoked salmon. Nice and refreshing. And the pork belly which was tender and the texture of the dish was superb. The starter of bread and dip was a little underwhelming. And desserts where good

Waiter took our coats from us when we were seated. Blown away by the flavour combinations and quality of the meals. Impressed by the waiter offering the vegetarian menu after my partner & I ordered the only vegetarian dish on the main menu. Ambiance was incredible. Would 10/10 recommend this place to anyone looking for an upmarket dining experience.
