The longest bar in Scotland with 3 cask ale pumps tucked away forlornly into one of the bends. Don’t let that deter you as the beer was superb so too the staff. Great friendly atmosphere, multi 📺 showing sports channels. If you see a seat - grab it, they’re at a premium when it’s busy 👍🏻

Not the best pub i ever been to ! First the food: it's alright but not excellent, and the team prefer to talk instead of serving the customer! To finish drinks are good and expected.

Overall we had a good few hours here, bar staff were fantastic and pleasant, karaoke host shouldn't really be downing the singers who aint the best. Also some incredible singers too which was nice to hear. Toilets weren't as clean as I would have hoped and smell was pretty bad which I'm.sure is easily resolved.

Door staff rude and dressed in jeans and T-shirts, hardly a great example to set. Refused entry with no explanation and it was only 8’oclock. Blocked our entry by standing in front of us like gangster wanna bee’s!! Seen better door staff at the library. Won’t be back and it was one of our favourite bars to visit but not anymore. Good luck getting past the mafia ..

We were staying in Glasgow for a few days and The Horseshoe Bar was recommended to us as somewhere where we could get a decent cask ale, which isn't the case in many of Glasgows pubs. It's beautiful inside with a fabulous bar and interesting decor. Very friendly bar staff.

Second time in here and met some very friendly locals and enjoyed a drink in nice old fashioned pub with great fixtures and fittings. They were showing football on the big screens but it didn't detract from the experience. I recommend visiting as its a great taste of central Glasgow. Still haven't learned the lingo yet but I got a grip of it through watching good old programmes like Rab C and Still Game. Haven't tried the food here but it looked good.

A nice place, very busy on the bottom, main floor, we couldn't find a seat and had to go upstairs. Very quite upstairs. The place was nicely decorated. Staff friendly and chatty. The beers went down great

Me and my Girlfriend were in Glasgow doing some Christmas shopping. We wanted something good to eat rather than go to Macdanalds, so we thought of the Jorse shoe Bar. Our meal in here was good. Service was good, meal was lovely real good price too. It was quiet. No food was wasted, so glad we came here. We will visit here again some time again when in Glasgow. It was nice seeing the old instruments up on the walls too. Its something you dont see much anywhere else.

A traditional public house with an impressive horseshoe bar (spoiler). Certainly worth a visit and a couple of drinks, if only to feel a bit of nostalgia but it didn't feel quite as 'comfortable' as I'd hoped. Interesting fact that Travis played there when trying to break into the mainstream music scene.

Recently booked table in January for March for 9 people paid deposit. When we arrived was told I had been refunded but as you can only book so many I was refunded for one table and not for the other. I have contacted the horseshoe and left several messages and. Emailed none of these have been answered. Really disappointed as it was a great night but feels a bit like being ripped off. In addition to this although I was told someone would contact me - no one has - if I could please request that you follow up so I can get my refund ?

Visited for a midweek lunch and had the three plate tapas option. Delicious! I recommend the nachos! The staff were really lovely too and approached us with menus when we sat down. I was expecting to go to the bar to order or to order via the website. Wouldn't hesitate to visit again. Got to have a look at all the pictures and plaques on the wall - perhaps something to do when it's quiet.

Traditional Scottish bar. Wood stained iconic central bar with plenty of seating and standing areas. The upstairs is well know for a quality karaoke and downstairs has plenty of screens for a non bias watch of the football. Not fancy but reliably good

Went to grab a bite and a pint, had to go upstairs because downstairs was very busy. On the entrance it reads “famous for our horseshoe pie” or something like that; I ordered it and it was not good at all. But I suppose it’s a good place for drinks.

In a very positive way, this place never really changes. A consistently good option for a drink very near Central Station. This pub tries really hard to get people served quickly and the prices are always fair to good. A properly solid, reliable place to drink when you're in town. Obviously good for watching football - or rugby if that's your thing - as there are TVs everywhere. Tip for first time visitors - if you have time take a walk all the way round the bar. Worth it for novelty value and to discover some of the cosy little corners towards the back of the pub.

Whenever I'm in Glasgow, it's a must go to place. To me, it is Glasgow - a mixture of people from all walks of life mixing happily in the pub, generating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. Staff are friendly and efficient. Prices are good and also a good range of beers on tap.

Great old bar. Recommended to me by my mum who grew up in Glasgow, was amazing to return to. Feels very covid secure. The building has lots of old historic bits and bobs scattered around within if you know where to look for them. Would recommend a pint here. Staff were great also.

First pub of the day and first pub of this 2 week trip to Scotland. I had a half pint of Northern Monk Eternal. Sam had a cup of tea. Old school pub with a lot of wood paneling and an oval bar that seems to run on forever. Service was good. No complaints. Toilets were clean.

This is one of the most famous establishments in Glasgow, famous for it's central bar and historic decor. The beer is excellent and Timothy Taylor's Landlord is always on tap. The food is good. It's always busy but outside it's busiest hours you can nearly always get a table. If necessary go upstairs. I love this place. The staff are superb.

If your face fits and you're in your teens or twenty something you're fine. Twice now I've been out with my husband and stopped from getting in for no reason. They let people in after us. We only managed to get in because the bouncers were battering a poor wee guy for asking to get in. I'm absolutely disgusted at the manner of the staff!!

The Horseshoe is a Glasgow institution. Usually you can get a 3 course lunch upstairs for less than a fiver, but the current situation has reduced the offer. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

  • 4/5 Alan W. 5 years ago on Google
This bar close so central station is called the Horseshoe Bar for the simple reason that the bar is shaped like a horseshoe. Quite a famous bar in Glasgow with its traditional bar and antique style and it has quite a prestigious Karaoke upstairs with some top singers. For the more nationalistic among you, Irish as well as Scottish, it has Union Jack symbols on the windows in favour of the union although I don't know when they date from, they look fairly old.

The food here is great, the prices even better - especially the lunch menu which has 3 courses for £4.99. The burgers are tasty, and come with a generous portion of chips. It's always clean, the staff are always pleasant. The toilets are very small and cramped but that's the only downside.

I made a booking to have lunch in the lounge. I arrived at my booking time to be told that my booking was not going to go ahead as the longue was closed, they had approved my booking the same day they closed the lounge. No one had informed me of this, and it was the lady in the bar down stairs who had to give me this information. I gave 3 stars purely for the staff in the bar down stairs, who very nicely were accommodate my self and my party of 4 others even though we had not booked for eating in the bar. She was very apologetic even though it was not her fault. The bar downstairs was clean and staff were friendly, they all followed covid saftey standards which was great to see and made the dining experience very comfortable. I had emailed the booking line to enquire why i had not recieved any communication to say my booking was cancelled. The reply i got was barely an apology, for me having wasted my time in going to a booking that was cancelled. If it hadn't been for the bar being able to accommodate and the lovely lady who works there i would have given one star. I wont be booking for the lounge again

Lovely bar in the middle of the city centre and round the corner from the train station. Very different now due to covid restrictions, previously it was a very busy place on a Saturday afternoon and when there's live sport on. Adhering perfectly to the government guidelines but the downside is it's not busy and no music or sound for the sport, staff were very professional and couldn't do enough for us on our visit, food looked lovely though we were only in for a pint.

Whilst on a city break to Glasgow the Horse Shoe bar was recommended to us by some police officers we got chatting to on Glasgow Green. We called in mid afternoon and had a memorable experience amongst a lovely atomosphere. The bar has everything. The staff and management deserve the highest praise for there efforts. We are fascinated with the history of Glasgow and are also great fans of historic public houses. The staff were extremely polite and helpful and more than willing to chat with us about the history of the building, which is an integral part of Glasgow. This bar is a must for anyone visiting the city. We will definitely return when things get back to normal. Many thanks. Tony Major and Tula Tew

Great bar.. Well fitted out especially after the refit, soft drinks a little expensive especially as I'm the designated driver, the latest karaoke guy sadly isn't as good as the original guy, sound so loud we had to leave plus distorted when singing.. Shame as this let's down an otherwise great bar.

Although face coverings still LEGALLY IN PLACE . NO sign of any adherence to the latter . Had to write down drink order so loud . Would need to be in close contact with bar server. No s8gn of Mic being sanitised between singers . Toilet Ladies . Not good swap doors round. I booked a table and did not get what I requested . Had fun anyway . Had to seek in snacks after 6pm . No food just shots at a price

Just got off a train from weekend away popped in for 1. She charged me £3.40 for a grouse whisky which is £1.50 to £2.00 in the most expensive places so when she said £3.40 i thought shes having a laugh but she wasn't £3.40 for a cheap house whisky is shocking. Wint be doing that again.

Because of her, we will definitely be back!

This bar is fantastic, we heard about the karaoke and seen videos on Facebook. We travelled 3 hours from Gateshead. The place was heaveing on arrival at 4pm. Then the fun started immediately, everybody singing and dancing, friendly. The Bar staff we excellent. Fast and polite. It's smaller than we thought upstairs but I think that made the night better. There's a rumour you have to be a great singer to get up and have a go at the karaoke as some of the customers are fantastic singers, but anyone can get up and have a laugh. Prices were reasonable around £5 for a pint of coors. Bouncers/security! I've heard alot of bad reviews about the door staff and I can say they were spot on. If your there for a good time and behave yourself you'll be fine and they leave you alone. They have a zero tolerance for drunkenness or aggressive stupid behaviour, if you even look like you are causing trouble or are about too you will be kicked out and rightly so Glasgow can be rough like most cities and people are there for fun, we seen a few people being escorted out for various reasons, the lads have a tough job and they do it well. We'll done. Thanks for a great night everyone at the horseshoe bar!!

Went there as it has the longest bar in Europe at 104 feet and 3 inches (nearly 32 metres). Staff are a bit unfriendly.

Couldn't even go in last night... Bouncers at the door were an absolute joke. According to them, "too drunk, you had enough" even though I was having a full and clear conversation with them. Manager came out as well, did nothing, kept saying if the door men said so he's not going to do anything. When asked the manager about our £10 deposit for our table that was already paid he was not bothered. An absolute disgrace... I would give ZERO ⭐ if I could. We had no issues at all going in to other pubs. If you want to have a great night with friends AVOID this place.... edit: deposits were not refunded to anybody and the doormen did not make the right decision. You can ask all other 20 people who also witnessed everything. All reviews regarding the doormen are true and valid, you must do something if want to keep your customers....

Very nice bar well looked after, staff are friendly, drink prices very reasonable. As a Guinness drinker I prefer the regular rather than the extra cold, that's all they had. No complaints. Certainly well worth a visit. I will go back...🍻

This was a great place dine and have a drink, the staff was friendly and prompt. We were seated up stairs for dining which wasn’t as unique as the historic bar downstairs. But we made the best of it and even moved down stairs to have a drink at the longest Bar in Scotland. I recommend this as a definite stop when visiting Glasgow

We didn’t eat in the pub so can’t make comment but we were there on Saturday night and had a great time. The atmosphere was electric. Great to get the reaction to Scotland beating England to retain the Calcutta cup. Our thanks to Clare for looking after us so well

The bartender was intrusive, rude, and made inappropriate comments to both me and my friend. First he made a joke about my makeup. Then he got very shirty about a private conversation, to which he was listening, that I was having with my friend. He tried to insult my (dead) father, if only he were capable of offending me. We went elsewhere to enjoy our evening.

👍👍 An excellent experience at Miller and Carter tonight. The food came out quickly and was so incredibly delicious - the steak was cooked to perfection and the beef dripping sauce was to die for! All steaks come with house fries they can up upgraded to chunky chips or sweet potato fried but we honestly...
