Probably one of the best places in Glasgow for great local food. A very beautifully made interior of the restaurant puts you in a cozy atmosphere. The service is super friendly and helpful with recommendations. The food itself is just great - delicious, from local ingredients and just an explosion for your taste buds. A reservation is definitely necessary as it is a well-known and good-visited spot in Glasgow.

We had an early dinner and we loved our server, she recommended some amazing local scotland dishes for us to try. We ordered tonns of food and drinks. We were clearly hungry!! Lol The ambience was quite amazing. The crowd was gr8. Ample of sitting space apart from the bar area. Some families with younger kids were even sitting outside. The artifacts and rustic look stole it for me. All the dishes that we ordered were really tasty..we goobled them all. From Haggis to leeks to burgers, we enjoyed them throughly. What a fun place. Must visit if in glassgow.

Have loved visiting here over the years when visiting Glasgow. But we had a VERY underwhelming visit before Christmas. Boy, that was forgotten when we visited last Wednesday. The food was top notch, the beers pretty good and the vibe and forest wonderland chic by the bar dead cool. But the best part was the young woman who seated and served us. She was marvellous. Warm, efficient, professional, kind and charming. She was amazing. Thank you 😊

Great place for a dinner, we seated upstairs which it was quite and perfect for a date with candlelight atmosphere. The menu wasn’t too big so we order 3 small plates and one big plate which was perfect portions for two people. Good pairing of unexpected ingredient but all the dishes tasted very good. I would definitely go back and try other dishes

Outstanding meal. Party of 8, everyone loved the food, some going as far as saying it was the meal of the year. Only recommendation is for a really elevated dining experience, order the starters and the regular mains, not the Stravaigan staples. The staples are also fantastic, but not the same level of refinement (which is not what it’s trying to be as it is a bar as well). Ultimately you can’t really go wrong though! Service was also impeccable. Extremely knowledgeable, accommodating and friendly staff. Will be returning as soon as possible!

Honestly very disappointed to be scoring this restaurant a 3 star. However we came with high hopes it was almost as highly recommended as the Ox and Finch (which was sublime) and didn't deliver. It's not that it was bad, but nothing was excellent, exciting or particularly memorable. The service was good, most of the food was good (except the chilli special, which was just poor. I understand why they got knocked out of the chilli cook off now). But unfortunately the whole experience was just drab, the cellar decor is like a bad throwback to the 1980s Italian fish restaurants, not in a good way. Honestly get the feeling this is a business running off its historical goodwill rather than breaking and new ground.

The Scottish food served here is so good; the vegetables were crunchy and goes well with the sauce. The meat was of excellent texture. We had tomato soup with baked chick peas which was ‘out of the world’. It was an awesome dinner with my daughter. 👍

Lovely dinner here! Had a seat upstairs beside the window - which was great! Had the Bakehouse bread and dip for starter - bread was really soft and fluffy and went well with dip. My main course was crispy chickpea Panisse and it was incredible! One of the best things I've eaten in a long time! The textures, crispy panisse, soft beatroot, delicious caramelized walnuts and crunchy pomegranate with bursts of flavour! Absolutely outstanding! Partner had the steak which was perfectly cooked, seasoned and tonnes of chips! Only thing that let the place down was the cocktails but otherwise - five stars!

Think global, live local - lovely Scottish and international dishes from local produce, beautiful interior, laid-back set-up. Nice wine choice - including Georgian, Armenian, Greek

Great food. The place was a bit loud for us and the service was a bit slow when it came to getting the check. I'll happily go there again, maybe a bit earlier in the day when its a little more chill.

First time visiting here and won't be the last! Had a cosy little corner upstairs for two. Tried the Sunday Roast which was Beef. Beautiful cut of meat, perfectly cooked in my opinion. Broccoli and cauliflower cheese was lovely, roasties were crisp and flavoursome. Our server, despite being busy was very attentive and friendly. Decor is quirky and prices aren't too bad!

After a brisk walk through Kelvin Park we arrived at Stravaigin, the Cellar. We were seated after my partner managed to smash a glass through careless control over her hand bag. We were presented with menus and I chose the Haggis Neaps and Tatties which came as three equal sized portions with sesame seeds. I followed this with steak, chips and pepper corn sauce. The waiter checked back on us a few times which was a nice touch. The desert was a small meringue with a sorbet and so apple shavings??? We had coffee, paid the bill and thanked the waiter. This is a nice place to eat in a busy local venue.

Great atmosphere, I went in the Christmas time and the restaurant was super cute all covered by lights. The food was ok and the staff was super friendly.

Excellent place. Even though I didn't know you had to make a reservation, they seated us at the bar area and served great food. Selection was limited because they had a "busy weekend" and was out of steak and some other assorted menu items. I had the haggis to start and pork belly as a main. Superb!

Had a fab meal today for Sunday lunch! Felt like royalty and the food was outstanding! The staff were so attentive especially Ilaeira and Morven, kitchen staff went the full hog and beef roast was just so tender, not sure how they achieve such excellence in taste and flavour but everything was cooked to perfection. Cocktails were also top notch especially the espresso martini! Could have had more if we had more time. Really enjoyed sitting by the cosy fireplace and was nice to be accompanied by a few waggy tails next to us. Really was ant least 5 stars all round, keep being authentic and original!

This place does a great mixture of small plates and brunch options, with lots of traditional Scottish options and other inspiration from elsewhere. I had a small plate of haggis and then some Turkish eggs - would definitely go back!

Stravaigin has a great atmosphere and quite possibly the best chunky chips in Glasgow. A firm favourite, when we are able to get there, for me and my friends.

Nicely cooked cod and the prawn was spicy but tasty. Duck looked better than it tasted, was a bit lacking in flavour without a sauce. Custard cake for dessert was nice. Decent wine list. Slow service

Great service and very flavourful food. I was here for a Sunday brunch and the place did not disappoint. Booking a table in these times is a good idea. The lighting and seating are very cosy and give you a feeling of privacy when seated on the first floor. The coffee was disappointing but the food more than made up for the disappointing coffee. The portions were just the right size. I’d be going back to Stravaigin again

Best food we’ve had in Scotland by far! They’ve got a good wine list clearly created by someone who knows their wines. The food is not just really well done, but also innovative and really takes it to another level. Would give 6 stars if I could!

A fantastic meal in a wonderful building. One of the best meals I have had for some time. I had the Haggis Neeps and Tatties with the Whisky sauce priced at £15, followed by a baked cheesecake. The rest of the party enjoyed the Vegetarian Curry and the Venison and supported by attentive service throughout the meal.

Sunday beef roast was a feast that lacked for nothing in the taste stakes. Starting with haggis might very been too ambitious tho. Won't eat till Wednesday now. Atmosphere was perfect and staff were delightful- worth returning for in its own. Seriously recommended.

Everything about our dinner here was perfect. The atmosphere is welcoming and the space is a really neat, rustic/eclectic vibe that feels chic and also totally down to earth. We loved seeing the dogs dining alongside their humans in the bar area! Our server Max was friendly and had great recommendations. Our drinks were super tasty, and every single thing we ordered food wise was just incredible. The veggie haggis with whiskey cream sauce was superb and the leeks confit with whipped tofu were totally unexpected and divine. The panna cotta was the perfect way to finish the meal. Could not recommend this place more, if we were locals we would eat here all the time!

This restaurant was highly recommended, we came but didn't book a table, we were seated behind the bar and we understood because it was our mistake, but the waiters bypassed us and ignored us, they always left somewhere, we couldn't even call anyone . When it came time to eat, no one informed us that the food we ordered would be so spicy, the menu did not say so. The mussels were peppered with jalapeño, which was not mentioned on the menu, and the curry prawns were super spicy. When we reported this to the waiter, he said that we should have warned him and he would have brought us yogurt to reduce the burning sensation, this is very funny, we didn’t expect this, we expected everything, but not this response. The atmosphere was very good, but the evening was completely ruined.

  • 5/5 Arthur K. 1 year ago on Google
Excellent. I recommend the haggis with peppercorn sauce, as well as the pork belly along with a side of fries. It is okay to order multiple dishes - both bigger and smaller in size - simultaneously, which makes picking a meal less of a hassle. The staff was also very nice and helpful.

  • 5/5 Chris B. 2 years ago on Google
Maximum scores for everything. Service was attentive, starters and mains were delicious and filling, variety on menu is good - smaller selection but all very unique - drinks list is substantial, and surprisingly accomplished both Scottish and Indian and Mexican food.

(Translated by Google) Difficult adaptation? A little disappointed because the rave reviews from our guide and from Google presaged a nice atmosphere and an excellent menu. Seeing that the restaurant was open until 1:00 am, we booked online (with prepayment of 10GBP per person) on the Stravaigin website for a dinner at 10:00 pm. Arrived at 10:03 p.m. we were rather surprised because we were hastily informed that the kitchen was closed at 10:00 p.m. Despite everything, we were offered to order very quickly, with two à la carte choices: the Curry Stravaigin and the Haggis. We adapted to these imposed choices and even ordered drinks quickly: a cocktail first, then two glasses of wine. The 2 waitresses had insisted that we specify the order of service ... After a bit of a wait, the orders finally arrived out of order: the dishes alone, then the cocktail to share (without a straw), and finally the glasses of wine. Too bad, because we thought that this moment would allow us to enjoy the place a little and to relax after this somewhat tense welcome. Fortunately for the dishes, we were not disappointed, the food is excellent .. (even closed ;-)). The very fragrant, rather spicy red curry was generous in its large size (for average appetites the small portion is sufficient). The haggis was up to the task. The prices for cocktails and wine were quite competitive (between 3.5 and 5GBP for each). We got away with a good meal in a nice setting. But this surprise at the reception still left us with a bitter aftertaste. Pity. Perhaps adaptation to the post COVID-19 is still difficult? In any case we would like that to change. (Original) Adaptation difficile?

Had a meal here for my birthday and it was outstanding. The food was delicious and high quality, the atmosphere was warm and the staff were friendly and attentive. Such a nice find. If you're after somewhere to go for brunch around the west end definitely consider here. Really good coffee, and a small but interesting brunch menu. We all really enjoyed it. It gets super busy in there and it's not huge so don't be disappointed if it's full. Service was friendly and the trees inside make for a quirky backdrop.

Fantastic meal. A real delight. Service was really excellent. Also clear, thoughtful and fuss free help with menu to cater for allergies. We had lots of great options on the standard menu, which is a rare thing. The chef has obviously put a lot of careful thought into catering for as many people as possible from their main menu. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed every part of their meal and had a lovely evening.

Fantastic restaurant with value prices. It is a great place to enjoy Scottish produce, and I would strongly recommend this place to anyone who wants to try their first Haggis. It was superbly done without a hint of “gamey-ness” to the food, and I thoroughly enjoyed the turnip and potato mash that came alongside it. The portion is not too big and can be shared too. A MUST TRY WHEN HERE!

If you like good food & coffee, you need to add Stravaigin to your list. Stopped in for some brunch: had their chicken and waffles and a flat white. Firstly, the chicken was wonderfully spiced, savoury, juicy and in a great batter; this was complimented by well balanced waffles, not overpoweringly sweet, crispy & light - the flavours paired well as opposed to overpowering each other. The coffee: I got a flat white, and it was one of the best in the west end; heavy on coffee, with just enough milk and foam to balance it out - if you like machiattos you'll love this as a morning coffee

I haven't eaten here yet, but i have been in for drinks many times and I have to say, this has to be one of the friendliest places i have been to. the staff are so considerate of accessibility and are aware or open to be aware of peoples needs. i was on on Friday and they could not have bene more helpful. i have mobility issues and a visual impairment and honestly the staff were so kind but not in a patronising way. i would really recommend this venue its friendly, lively, upbeat but also really chilled out. ill be back soon as i love it here.

Met a friend for lunch. He enjoyed his cod main course. I took a risk on the day brunch menu...Nasi Goreng. It was probably the worst restaurant meal I've ever had. Gloopy over spiced with the wrong spices and hardly any of the prawns that were supposedly part of the meal. This dish was £14. If you visit, stick to their standard menu. We left and went across the road to Artisan Roast for desserts.

The food was pretty good but the staff were really rude and uninterested. When we first arrived we were stood about whilst staff members walked past us to go speak with their friends or each other. At this point the bar is very busy but the restaurant empty. So after they actively ignored us I had to follow a staff member to tell them we had a reservation to which they just pointed at a table and told us to sit over there. They seemed much more interested in talking to their friends and it turns out they were finishing their shift so maybe that's why they were so rude. I've been here many times before though and the bar staff are always friendly and helpful so this was the first bad experience I have had here. The food was pretty good and the bread and hummus was incredible but the weird atmosphere and bad service was distracting. We tried a cookie desert with ice cream. The cookie was hard and tasted stale and the ice cream was basil which just made your mouth taste like dirt. A nice homely desert would have been a lot better but unfortunately there was no choice for this. Overall we were expecting really high standards as we have been to the bar loads and love it here. We have eaten in the bar loads and always enjoyed our experience so we were disappointed this experience didn't translate to the restaurant. But unfortunately the staff were rude and uninterested. They wanted to watch the rugby and chat to their hipster pals more than serve customers. It took ages to be served and even longer to order, and we were waiting a long time once we got the bill to pay too. I suspect most people would have just left without paying it was that long a wait. I should say the second girl to serve us was really nice but she did still take a while between courses and to pay the bill. The atmosphere was awkward and weird too and again I think that was created by the staff being uninterested and resenting the people there for a meal when clearly they had better places to be that night. Won't be back for dinner and certainly not good value for money.

Elevated bistro food. Taken as a pub or bistro, the food was wonderfully inventive and tasty. Taken as fine dining, the food didn't have the precise seasoning or presentation required for excellence. Service was friendly but confused. I had four servers during my meal including one who asked if I was done just as I began eating dessert. Cocktails were fine, a preponderance of gin, the two I had were refreshing and balanced but nothing extraordinary. Broad wine list.

Disappointing. Heard great things but meal was underwhelming especially for the cost. The ambience was very nice as was the wine but felt the food was a bit of a let down.

Very tasty meal and fab dessert, and fantastic staff, though the portion size of the Monkfish "large" plate left much to be desired.

Great pints found the veg curry of the day to be abit overseasoned other than that the food was delicious!

A twist on classic Scottish food. It was definitely good, bit kinda over priced for what you get. Really nice atmosphere especially the bar area with the fairy lights. I did enjoy it, bit it did not love up to the hype.

£25 for 2 breakfasts and 2 small coffees, feel a bit ripped off as there was only 1 bacon rasher, 1 egg, potato scone, square sausage, link sausage, black pudding, mushrooms and very small portion of beans, wasn't keen on the sausage and the egg had that horrible undercooked white stuff on it. Fast service and nice pub.

(Translated by Google) I went there for the haggis, I was a little disappointed because it is essentially peppery and does not allow to appreciate all the wonders that constitute it. It was good however (served with mashed potatoes and mashed turnip). The setting is very pleasant as the service.

👍👍 An excellent experience at Miller and Carter tonight. The food came out quickly and was so incredibly delicious - the steak was cooked to perfection and the beef dripping sauce was to die for! All steaks come with house fries they can up upgraded to chunky chips or sweet potato fried but we honestly...
