This bar is a trip to the past, with most of its design kept original from the late 1800s when it was built. Traditional and beautiful. A shame it's not in a better area of the city, but because of its not-so fortunate location you can enjoy reasonably priced drinks, including some very interesting cocktails!! Craft beers on tap always changing which is great. They are doing live jazz on some Tuesdays. We absolutely love this gem of a bar.

The friendliest loveliest bar, with the best drinks. The kind if place you can go to alone and be met with friendly faces and professional staff that really look after you.

Outstanding pub. The interior is fascinating and wonderful - genuine intricate old design. The beer choice is outstanding, including Kernel and Ayinger Celebrator on tap. And most importantly, the welcome from the barman was super friendly and informative.

My favourite bar of all! From the decor dating way back to the general fantastic atmosphere. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Just wish I stayed close enough for it to still be my local ❤️

Old world charm off the beaten path of tourism. 150 year old building houses great staff who give traveling advice and are very welcoming. Downstairs is a lovely room where poetry is read out loud on occasion with whiskey tasting! I was simply enchanted and so thrilled I was able to experience this in Glasgow

One of the best bars in Glasgow has just got better with the monthly Gathering South Sessions happening there. If you've never been you're in for a treat. And the bar itself is beautiful with great staff.

An excellent bar with a huge range of beers and cocktails. It's a very traditional bar, kept in immaculate condition with the original mirrors and glass in the windows. Staff are brilliant and there's plenty of room and character to it. No TV, but music and different themed nights, including comedy and reggae. It makes for a very welcoming local. The toilets are spotless.

Had a great time just chatting with friends here, a background dj but not too loud and a nice range of drinks and easy going staff.

Didn't eat but attended an open mic night with lots of awesome folks. The bartenders were super friendly, and the draughts were excellent. Can't wait to try the cocktail menu!

Really great venue, with welcoming, attentive staff. A large group of us were in using the function room which is a decent sized space downstairs. Probably the nicest bar in the area!

Great atmospheric pub providing an alternative to other venues. It is pricey for the area but a lot of effort has been put in by the owners/management to make this oasis available. Short bus ride from city well served by public transport.

A wonderfully atmospheric slice of the old city as I remember it from my youth. Sadly, on the two occasions we visited there was no evidence of cask ale. But the ambience was wonderful. As were the staff.

Popped in last night just a random evening out, stayed at a nr by hotel. Popped in here live music playing and barman talked us through the range of beers etc. Ended up being a quilts chilled night. Would definitely visit again

Full of character. Candle lit bar. Have house beer and lager that's pretty good. Downstairs is a function room. The night I went there they had dragioke (see pic), which was really good fun in a laid back atmosphere.

Its amazing as you walk in the place at a late hour, like being in a film like Pirates of the Caribbean, the Witcher or in the board game D&D which they do have downstairs. The drink are unique as I have one called the pilot, so I do recommend going there and try it out for yourself and friends. 😎🍻😎

What a friendly traditional pub, bar staff were out this world. Was made to feel it was our local for years. A few work misfits and myself happened to find this pub on quiz night, good night and not your traditional boring pub quiz. The end you had to make a paper plane and throw it from one side of pub and for 5 points the one that flew the most distance. Great selection of guest beer and spirits

This place is beautiful, the staff are lovely and it has a really friendly and warm atmosphere. There is a lot going on, when we were there, they had painting classes, and there are also games nights and other stuff, so definitely worth checking the website if your looking for something to do.

Went here for the first time for a 50th Birthday party downstairs in the function area. Great place for a party. Loved the huge murals on the walls of famous (Glasgow) folk. Had a few of their interesting tequila shots with warming and flavoursome chasers. Atmosphere in the bar area was relaxed and convivial and bar staff were super helpful and attentive. Never waited long to be served. Well worth a visit to this hidden gem on the southside of the river.

We had one hour time. We walked and bumped in The Old Toll Bar. We were welcome by Ross. This Bar has character! We played cards, chatting with other customers and had great time. I love strong coffee with classic cube of sugar. One hour with lovely company and friendly Ross. I recommend this Bar, not only for rainy day, how was today.

I went yesterday for the first time and I think it will become my new favourite. First of all the atmosphere is amazing, the bar is beautiful combining the old with the new, there is music in the background just on the right volume and the cocktails are great! Secondly the prices...I was surprised! 6.5 for an old fashioned? A really nice prepared one? Ok my new favourite for sure...

The eldest bar of Glasgow and one of the best places to drink a gin. They have also good selection of kraft biers. One can find also live music, including open mic days! 100% recommended!

This is a old school pub. That's been kept the way it should. Not seen another like it for 1800s fixtures. Stunning place great vibe. A must see I would say ??

Fabulous traditional style pub but with a very contemporary feel and attitude - catering, I think, to a real mix of ages. A newly decorated and beautifully designed basement space is used for functions and special events such as the celebration of Tom Waits music that was on tonight. A traditional/acoustic session was also taking place in the bar. Great atmosphere!
