It was my first time here and this is a lovely place with great tasty food and a good atmosphere. The one thing I noticed is there seemed to be just one member of staff taking all the orders for the table and although the food came out fairly in a good time, I could feel the staff member was spread thin and whilst he held the fort okay this place would get better customer service with additional team members.

Popped in and had a lovely lunch. The service was fantastic, food was lovely as always. Quite quiet so was really easy to get a table. Definately worth a try if you haven't been in before. Lovely and modern inside aswell great for a girls day's out.

We popped in for lunch mid week. We were not disappointed. Service was punctual & attentive but not annoying. We went for the two course lunch option. Starter was Duck Parfait, Fig & Bramley apple chutney with toasted brioche. This was fantastic, really tasty and just a large enough portion to make you want more but not enough to fill you up before your main. Main was Steak Frites, Garlic butter, confit tomato and fries. Medium Rare steak was exceptionally tender, cooked just right and even trimmed before service. Overall fantastic value for money and quality.

Restaurant is housed in the old post office building which my friend worked in years ago, so great memories of it, today is got a great feel to the restaurant and the food was just wonderful as were the cocktails! Our server Holly was lovely and attentive and all other staff we interacted with were also polite. We will definitely be returning on our next visit to Glasgow.

It was my birthday yesterday and I treated myself for a meal at Browns. My friends are on holiday but I didn’t let it stop me from celebrating. For the past 6 years roughly I’ve barely celebrated my birthday because I have several major health conditions and recently I’ve been in and out of hospital. My birthdays have been spent in my hospital bed at home crying because I live alone with no family. I do have friends but my health has prevented me from spending time with them on my birthday and other times. The restaurant is top class. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I had read the reviews and it ticked all the right boxes for me and I wanted honest British food. I’m wheelchair reliant so I was running late because there was a wee wait for a wheelchair accessible taxi because I use an electric wheelchair. I called Brown’s to let them know I was running late and the lovely young man who answered told me not to worry. I was 5 minutes late and it was the same gentleman who was at the door and almost immediately I was shown to my table. From the word go the waitress came to ask if I wanted a drink and I don’t drink alcohol anymore but I fancied alcohol free beer and she recommended me one and it was top notch definitely the real deal just with the alcohol removed so I was absolutely hooked on the beer I lost count of how many bottles I had hahaha I wasn’t too sure what I wanted for my starter but the lovely waitress was so lovely and helpful and recommended the chicken skewers and honestly it was mouth-wateringly delicious! My mouth was burning with the red hot chilli peppers mixed in with the delicious salad the dressing was perfect the cucumber in the salad balanced out the other veggies the chilli’s were only tiny little pieces and my nose was so runny haha but I love eating them. For the main course I chose the sirloin steak on the bone well done. With regular fries, onion rings and peppercorn sauce. The waitress had asked me if I wanted to wait until after my main course to see if I wanted a sweet so that sounded good. I got halfway through the steak and chips and I had a few onion rings and realised I was absolutely stuffed! It’s funny because when they initially brought everything I thought it looked a small amount of fries and onion rings but then the steak was huge! So I made sure that steak was not getting wasted because it was absolutely delicious! Everything was delicious. I couldn’t finish my meal but I ate the whole steak lol and polished off most of the fries. At this stage I was so full I felt like I could just lie down somewhere. To my amazement when I was enjoying my dinner I noticed a little card on the table and to my amazement it was a beautiful birthday card from Browns! I was stunned and deeply touched. I thanked them for it. I was still enjoying a few beers haha but they didn’t just stop there I was actually thinking of ordering a sweet but they had a little surprise in store for me. They brought me a huge plate with HAPPY BIRTHDAY written in caramel sauce with fresh strawberries and a meringue with cream and sugary sprinkles. Not only that they even decorated the plate with real flowers! I couldn’t believe it! I could have cried! I was blown away by the kindness and just how lovely everyone was. The atmosphere in the restaurant was welcoming warm and friendly a family atmosphere and relaxed the music was just right not too loud and not too quiet. I will definitely be back there. It’s a beautiful place and the food is incredible. Beautifully presented and the beautiful happy birthday treat was so pretty I didn’t want to spoil it by eating. I took plenty of photos of it . I highly recommend this restaurant. Food is delicious and prices are great too. Sadly I forgot to take my little birthday card home which has upset me because it meant so much to me Browns Restaurant is situated at George Square in Glasgow I spent a little time in the square at the war memorial taking pictures so beautiful and the huge lion statues are impressive they are absolutely huge and breathtaking to look at!

The food was delish! Our group had several of the dishes and all were good. Only item to improve was the pastry on the veggie Wellington was a little over-done.

1 main returned twice - items cold 1 main returned - main element cool 1 dessert tasted like a stale donut and luke warm 1 christmas pudding cold and tasted like it was uncooked from refridgerator. Staff dealt very professionally, removed automatic charged 10% gratuity, which is a poor practice for a table of 3, and we were not charged for desserts.

Lovely restaurant to sit and enjoy a quality meal whilst the world walks by. An old fashioned interior but modern twists. Don't be put off by the grand exterior it is a very welcoming place and reasonably priced for such a location.

Had lunch for the first time here today and will definitely be back. Lovely interior and very nice loo with quality handwash and lotion. My starter was the mushrooms on toast and it was a decent size portion and very nicely cooked. I then had the steak frites and that was so delicious. My friend had duck parfait then the fishcakes and those looked lovely too and she enjoyed it Brilliant choice of unusual drinks and was so happy to see fresh mint tea which was delicious. Thank you!

First time visiting this restaurant and was impressed. Staff very friendly and attentive. Good selection on menu including vegetarian and gluten free also catered for. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the food, each course a delight. Overall, enjoyed the experience, would recommend highly.

Service was a little on the slow side. Our drinks were forgotten and delivered after our first course was completed. Risotto was ok but is not something I'd order again. The woman who took our payment was speedy and charming.

Steak wasnt cooked to my liking but rectified. Desert took ages and was burnt. However the after eight cocktail was brilliant. Service was great with a good wine recommendation

Booked it for my daughters birthday lunch, and it went very well indeed...no hassle throughout the day, which means the staff looked after us properly...bar staff great as well..if in the area, would have to visit.

Disappointing for the price. We chose pancakes from the breakfast menu, mine were fine but my partners were rubbery and his fruit & yoghurt accompaniment bland, with literally just a splash of coulis. Our lattes were also very weak so we asked for an extra shot, only to find later, that they'd added an espresso to our bill! Shame as the interior is lovely and it could easily have been a much better experience. Plenty of other breakfast stops in Glasgow which provide better service, food and overall experience.

Very fancy atmosphere. The vegan option were a little lacking but still nice that I could be accommodated. Flavour wasnt really considered when it came to the tofu but was a nice effort

Second time I've been here. First time food and service was excellent. This time service was excellent (from Steve). We did have an issue with the food as the pork belly had very little meat on it. This was just unfortunate as that's the meat they got from their supplier. Not a fault of the chef or any of the staff but they still took it off the bill immediately, which was greatly appreciated.

Disappointed by the crumble (crumble was gummy) and cheese platter. My main was OK, but some parts rare. Service was OK but felt we were abandoned with empty plates left for quite a while when the place was half empty. We had to ask for the items mentioned on the NYE menu consistently versus being offered items I.e bellini, teas/ coffees, cheese that are meant to come with the menu. Saving grace starters arrived early as we were starving.

Our party of 20 had dinner to celebrate a 40th birthday here last night and we were all very impressed with the standard of service and food that was provided. The festive menu had a variety of options to suit everyone and was served promptly and in a very professional manner. Thanks in particular must go to our American head waiter, we definitely kept him busy. 👍

Visited Browns for the first time for lunch. We both selected the slow cooked Belly Pork. Unfortunately we had to send it back as the meat was tough and in our opinion it hadn't been cooked long enough. We replaced the meals with a vegetarian pie and a curry which were average. We noticed on the drinks menu that there were no beers listed and asked for a small bottle of Peroni. Got the shock of our life when we seen the bill and we were charged £10.70 for two 330ml bottles of Peroni! Our bill came to over £80 for two main courses, two beers and a bottle of wine. A bit on the pricey side and can't see us making a return visit.

Met a friend for Lunch and Cocktail’s. Food was really good and nicely presented. Mains Shepherd’s Pie, Salmon and deserts Plum & Cherry Crumble with Ginger Ice cream and desert Trio all delicious. Sam was our server, very polite and looked after us well. We moved into the bar area afterward and enjoyed a variety of cocktails all ably and quickly delivered by Casey. First Class service all round.

The atmosphere and ambience was excellent. The staff were first class, friendly and observant Food was on the whole very good but my main course of shepherds pie was very poor. Mince was sticking together at bottom of dish. I did mention to our server but got no feedback from kitchen/management

We had the opportunity to witness the staff handling an unexpected situation when the fire alarm went off. Everyone was swiftly evacuated while the situation was dealt with and, upon returning to our seats, plates that had only just been delivered to the table when the alarm sounded were whisked away and quickly replaced with freshly cooked meals. Friendly, efficient and professional. Thoroughly recommended.

My wife already commented it ! but I add my comments... Beautiful building, decoration, clean, cosy.. there was a big group behind us, but the noise level was acceptable. It was the birthday of my stepson and i put a note on the web. I asked if it was possible to add a candle.. as it was not, they brought a plate wit "happy b-day" written on it, with toffee sauce and strawberries. The staff was great... thanks for the moment.

I booked Festive Lunch for 12 family including some elderly guests Communication from booking to table was first class and helpful. Everyone loved the surroundings and atmosphere with nice live piano in the background. Food was great and all plates were cleared. We were looked after by Sam who introduced herself at the beginning checked all pre orders and was fantastic throughout. We had a wonderful time and my event was seemless. Well done to Sam and all the team.

This place is in a great location for the trains, like to pop in for a beer on the way home or start my evening in here before heading out across town. Food always smells great, might be in next week. Big thanks to the hostess, always greeted with a smile even with the mask on hahaha

Whent to Browns and the food and service was good but wasn't so good was the service charge that I knew nothing about and that it was optional I think that should have been explained to me so let that be a lesson to any one else

  • 4/5 Kris B. 4 years ago on Google
Immaculate interior and great service. Lovely atmosphere for a Sunday roast, nice touch with the pianist. The white onion soup with Welsh rarebit was delicious! My friends also enjoyed the duck liver parfait and the scallops too. I had the chicken roast and it was lovely and moist. The veg was cooked nicely and the stuffing was flavoursome. The gravy was perhaps a bit thin, and you don’t get much (so we asked for more). At £50 a head for starters, a roast and a couple of drinks each it’s not the cheapest roast you’ll have, but it was really nice and an enjoyable afternoon. If you fancy something a bit more fancy than a pub for a roast, I’d recommend here.

This was our 1st time at Browns in Glasgow. From start to finish was the most enjoyable dining experience. 10/10 The food was the best i've tasted in a long time. I've never eaten scallops before our visit to Browns today and i'm glad i did' Pan seared wild atlantic scallops with rhubarb, smoked pancetta, samphire and pea shoots. This starter blew me away. Our server Jasmine knew every dish on that menu and made our experience really enjoyable. Right from entering the doors of Browns we were greeted with a friendly face to the actual Manager Simon coming to greet us into Browns. This restuarant will be a hard act to follow in my opinion. If you're looking for a real dining experience in Glasgow then i suggest anyone to give Browns a try. We will be back at Browns real soon.

First meal out after lock down and met at the door and by a lovely young lady who took us through the precautions in place. After being shown to our table our server who was very attentive and chatty took our drinks orders. I opted for the Avocado and Crab on Toast and my wife had Scallops and Bacon. Both dishes were excellent. Both of us had a steak which were very nice but the sides of onion rings and stem broccoli were brilliant. The stand out dish however was salted caramel profiteroles which we shared and is worth returning for this alone. Overall great service in trendy and friendly venue with excellent food.

Beautiful place, attentive waiters, nice breakfast. Bacon, sausage, black pudding delicious. Poached eggs a little hard, and baked beans may have been Heinz, but the light sort, not regular, which I like best. Great flat white coffee, I had two.

Ordering and food to the table was quick...maybe as it wasnt too busy at 6pm in a Sunday. Well presented. Only gave 4 stars as no veg with steak/chicken , had to add and pay for separately, as this is the cheapest part of the meal I expected it without checking first. Other than that it was very tasty. Husband had medium steak which was done to his taste perfectly.

Well laid out, protection in place. Welcomed at the door and safety procedures explained. Excellent service and the food was usual high standard. Drinks can be on the expensive side if not on promotion. Good idea to get the app to see what promotions on offer.
