Great meal, lively atmosphere and very friendly staff. The food was tasty and portions just perfect. The table was attended to every so often by members of the team who were ever so helpful. The place was buzzing with chatter of guests. A very pleasant evening indeed.

Restaurant was booked for 5:30pm on a Saturday, was very busy and people were getting turned away at the door due to being at capacity and not having a reservation. Would advise booking ahead. Despite how busy it was the overall atmosphere and mood was relaxed within. Fillet steak topped with Pressed black pudding & ham hough, skinny fries, peppercorn sauce and cherry tomatoes. I felt the plate looked a bit underwhelming and could have been accompanied with some more veg or onion rings/loaf or a smaller plate, despite the disappointment with presentation the meal tasted fantastic. Pricey but not more than you would expect in the city centre. Toilets located downstairs and a bit of an adventure to get there. Recommended

Had a good lunch with friends. Service was great initially then became a bit slow, perhaps because there were a few large graduation parties in. Menu choices were pretty good and comfortable booth tables are my favourite. Would recommend for lunch or dinner if you're in town.

Had an itison voucher for a 4 course meal and a cocktail here. Set menu with choice of starters, mains and desserts. Cocktail of the evening was called 'Apple of the Captain's Eye' and it was delicious! Props to the bar staff 👏🏻 the food was fantastic, couldn't really fault it. Staff very friendly and attentive. Decor inside is beautiful too.

Had an interesting bittersweet feeling about this restaurant. My honest review and I’m a fussy eater. 1. Came in and wasn’t exactly given great service. Got seated by the corner booth. 2. Ordered 4 appetisers for 2. Did not like the portion of the soup (it was too big and filing), however, their signature salad is good. I would not recommend the scallop. I would also highly recommend the black pudding. 3. Had the rib eye as main, not as great as I thought. It was slightly dry but great taste. Now here’s the thing. At the end, the Ukrainian Manager actually came out, and kept asking me about the dining experience. It felt sincere and I really like that. It’s little things like these, that makes a great restaurant. The reason why I rated a five star was because of her. Would I come back? A definite yes.

Lovely food. Wonderful for a birthday or special occasion. Menu is easy and accessible even for those that aren’t massively into sea food. Great place to eat

The building is very central right off George Square, the design and layout set the atmosphere perfectly. The bar area is classic and well laid out. Through in the dinning area the design continues with pictures and decorations fitting for the theme. The staff from the moment we entered were friendly and very accommodating. The food was excellent and they allowed time between courses to enjoy what you had eaten. There was a good selection of cocktails and spirits to find something for everyone's taste. We had chosen to eat earlier in the evening so our table was to be returned for the next service which was expected, before our allotted time our excellent waitress informed us that she would reserve us a table at the bar if we wished, a great touch. We had used itison for a deal so the price was very reasonable also. We enjoyed a great night of food and drinks and we will be visiting again

Visited for a birthday celebration. Really enjoyed the experience. Staff were lovely, very helpful and clued up on allergens. Had a gluten free menu with lots of options which is one of the main reasons for choosing to visit. Opted for the mussels and fries which was lovely!

Over priced cocktails with little taste or alcohol. Half of the Marilyn Monroe was foam from the egg white and the white Russian was a glass of cream. However, the staff and door steward were friendly.

Amazing Dinner and drinks with the family. The food was fantastic, particularly the Sea Bass, and the desserts were delicious. Big thanks to Chef Robert! The servers were all very friendly, welcoming and attentive. 5-star restaurant with 5-star service. Looking forward to our next visit!

Went for breakfast with my partner. Portions looked small on the massive plates, but were actually very generous. Tasted amazing, if anything its a bit underpriced.

A beautiful restaurant on the inside and incredible food. The waiting staff were excellent too. We had a delicious white wine and olives to start. And I ate the Calamari, followed by Ribeye Steak (cooked to perfection) and finally the Mango Dome. Smart restaurant with a great atmosphere!

Beautiful historic dining experience, I got served very quickly from the drinks to the starter to the main course, well presented meals, highlights for me COCKTAILS wow The Manhattan was serious, I had to take my time with that one lol drinks menu amazing. I would of gave this a very strong 5* But one thing I didn't like was the level of service for such a valued place, I had a waiter lift plates over my head at a group dinner -_- which I didn't like, something could of dropped on my outfit tbh lol but well done overall. *Great place for Christmas party's

As ever it is great. I was having my 70th birthday. I cannot fault the wonderful waiting staff. Had a lovely day with my daughters. Had a problem with the Duck. Bit tough. All the rest was wonderful. I will return. Staff amazingly alert to everyone customers needs. High praise. Thank you for making my birthday so lovely special. I will hope to return and in the meanwhile I would recommend the restaurant to any one. Thank you again. Sandra Paterson.

The meal I Had was nice but the potatoes and sauce were cold and the meat just warm, the staff did say I should have said but I feel it should be hot 1st time , cocktails fab and lovely staff but at times confused who ordered what. Thats why the rating was low .

  • 1/5 Gillian E. 3 years ago on Google
Arrived for a 21st birthday dinner. The food and restaurant all very nice however the manager - Gavin? could not be any more unhelpful with a real attitude. Understand the Covid restrictions but is there any need to bark them at customers like the Gestapo. He also refused to allow us to pay a supplement for the birthday girl to upgrade from set menu to steak. Strange! Maybe requires a new career away from people.

A quiet, dignified oasis with polite and thoughtful table service. I have wanted to venture into this historic building for a long while and although I saw only a small area, it didn't disappoint. I plan on returning soon.

Great birthday lunch at the Anchor Line, tasty food and amazing old building with vintage travel prints and historical display pieces celebrating it's history. Good portion sizes too (often not the case with the fancier restaurants 😁)

A stylish bar in the heart of Glasgow. Good array of cocktails and service is good. Wine also recommend. Have been in for just drinks and also food and both have hit the spot. Dining area set away from main bar which is nice. Also would suit larger groups.

Stunning bar. Beer choices aren't great, but you can find any drink as it's more of a cocktail bar. Gorgeous interiors with marble columns and intimate lighting. Love the cosy and sophisticated atmosphere. Anchor Line was a ship that travelled from Glasgow to New York, and there are posters and photos of the wall which adds to the charming character of the place.

Visited Glasgow yesterday and as we exited the station we came across this place. Have to say it was a lovely experience. The building is grand and the inside decor is tasteful. Staff are immaculately dressed and the service was quick. Food was lovely and menu quite extensive. Prices are London prices but the standard of food and service were worthy of the prices. The added plus was the knowledge our Waiter had of the buildings previous history. Took my breath away on how much he knew .... Really lovely experience and would definitely visit again

Thanks to Google reviews it was easy to find this place. It has a very nice atmosphere and a good selection of Scottish and other dishes. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the food was served pretty quickly. The food was very tasty and not even expensive. Even special requests where I combined parts of different desserts were fulfilled. Did I mention that it was delicious? I think without a reservation it will be difficult to get a seat. But the reservation was possible without a deposit, even if one was indicated on the reservation page.

Brilliant birthday meal. Tantalising cocktails, decadent oysters, mouth watering scallops, all in the beautiful & opulent decor of a bustling dining of the anchor lone! Service a little slow, but I appreciate it was peak time & maybe a tad more friendlier but on the whole I had a great dining experience. Food 8/10... service 7/10... price 8/10... would i go back 10/10

I was searching for a nice fine dining restaurant during my time in Glasgow and dropped in here. Very nice place with amazing seafood and service! That halibut main dish is to die for!! Every component on our dishes were to the 5* quality. However, i taking a star off (wanted to take half off but cant), because it was very noisy as an atmosphere and had difficulties talking with my partner. The bar is right next door an the music was way too loud in the restaurant. When I pay for fine dining dinner i dont expect to hear the music louder than my partner next to me.

The history associated with this place is really cool. The pictures show lots of folks who started their trips in Glasgow off to NYC at the turn of the century. Additionally, the food and service here are really good. They make a decent drink here as well.
