Went to Glasgow for the Cold Play concert, we stayed at Babbity Bowster 1 night and we had breakfast in the morning. Very welcoming staff, lovely refurbished place, pub downstairs and great location. Few things to improve: water pressure in the shower, breakfast options for lactose intolerant guests. I will definitely go back if I am in Glasgow again. Reccomended.

Great atmosphere and relaxed vibes. There were musicians rehearsing while I was having lunch. Unexpected bonus. Staff very busy but attentive. I had the steak pie and a cider. Only negative feedback is that the steak pie meat was a little too salty for me but the crust was excellent. The order came with generous helping of mash potato which I felt needed more butter. Would go back again, on a Saturday.

Nice ambience, fairly quiet when I was there Thursday lunchtime. Good food, fair selection of starters and mains, with sensible portion sizes at a reasonable price. Good beer, a couple of hand-pulled ales. The McEwans IPA was particularly tasty. Excellent service. A group of us eat there every few months, and always happy to go there as a regular venue.

Oh my goodness where to start, this beautiful quirky bar/restaurant/comfy hotel is just the best. The atmosphere is brilliant, the owner so welcoming and the staff were amazing. They were so friendly and funny making us feel very relaxed. We arrived early and treated so nicely, had a beautiful lunch, the food is so tasty, brill portions, great choice and most of all served with ease nothing was a bother. Our rooms were perfect so clean and very personal, so so comfortable. I will say, if you get a chance to stay at Babbity Bowster, just do it, we loved everything from the background music to the service from all the staff ........... the location is just perfect for central Glasgow. We recommend Babbity Bowster for sure...........you would not regret it. Thank you for making our stay very special. Fiona

We come here for the music (Wednesdays around 3pm) and always eat the food. My mom loves the games (like dominos) you can play on the tables as well. Their menu is hilarious (check the comments below the names) and the food is good. If you love Scottish music (jam type sessions), and an open/relaxed atmosphere with good snacks and entrees, this is your place ❤️ Didn’t get a pic of the food but the few times we’ve been and tried different things - all has been really good.

I'm almost tempted not to do this because it's definitely a hidden gem. Tucked away down a side street the Babbity is apparently well know but I'd never come across it Simply awesome bar, great staff, good prices, brilliant outdoor area and live folk music at just the right level to not disrupt your chatter The food looked great and I have it on good authority it is. Easily five stars but please don't go in case I can't get a seat next time

Cosy pub with good range of beers and good quality food. Reasonably priced. Guinness was very drinkable. Friendly staff and a nice relaxed atmosphere for a Sunday evening out. Really enjoyable place.

Very good pub - we also stayed over night in one of the upstairs rooms. Staff are very helpful and pleasant. Nice breakfast. Also a good place to drink outside. Room was noisy at the weekend but fell silent at closing time - so not a problem is you were also out and about at night. Stairs to room quite a trek, so if you have mobility problems that would be an issue - the rooms are on the 2nd floor. Great location for merchant city.

Excellent location, great service, and delicious food. Most places are walking distance and the train station is close by for those places farther out. The airline lost our luggage and the staff went above and beyond to help. Lots of restaurants and pubs nearby and if you don't feel like going out, partaking of the pub downstairs will make for a wonderful evening.

One of my favourite pubs in Glasgow. Good selection of real beers, food and a beer garden to boot! All at reasonable prices and served by pleasant staff. Good music, at least to my ears, and, when lucky, live including sessions.

  • 5/5 Rokkvi R. 1 year ago on Google
Lovely pub with a wide variety of beers and even a few cask ales for those that are into that. The service was lovely and the price was right. I came here mostly to try haggis just before I left Scotland and boy, I was not disappointed. The haggis is fantastic. After I finished I felt like I'd been fed by my own grandmother. My partner had the vegetarian haggis which was a good alternative for anyone who doesn't eat meat, but if you don't want haggis they also offer some other great looking vegetarian options. Definitely come here for a good night out in glasgow whether you're going for food or drink!

We stayed here while visiting Glasgow. It was a fantastic little inn. The location is perfect. The food and service were absolutely top notch! I would highly recommend this to everyone either looking for a place to stay or have a pint.

This is the best pub you can find in Glasgow! The food is amazing and really well priced. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff is friendly and welcoming. I recommend the cullen skink and Cajun fries, which are both really yummy! Definitely worth a stop in for some traditional Scottish food.

Loved it. Could hardly fault it. Room was a bit small but really wasn't a bother for us as we were there to see a concert. Staff were absolutely fab. They let us check in ealry as our room was available. Another staff member also doted on us at breakfast and gave us a great suggestion of the Kelvin museum. Breakfast, other than fry, was included and absolutely lovely. Fab selection of jams and fruits.

Very clean, nicely organized, modern room. Very friendly staff that went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and happy on our adventures. Love the continental breakfast and bloody Mary to start our day.

A great place to stay a night. Clean, modern rooms with comfy beds. The included continental breakfast with real coffee is nice. Good WiFi, great location. Pub downstairs is good for a drink. Would recommend.

Good traditional Scottish pub. We were in on a Wednesday early evening, there was a fiddle band playing Scottish music, not too loud that you couldn't speak but just a nice volume. The food was excellent, very fresh and tasty, I would particularly recommend the chilli nachos.

Stayed for 1 night at the end of a tour. Room was lovely and quiet considering the pub being busy downstairs. I would only say the room I was in was very dark even with all the lights on. Brighter light bulbs would be good especially in the main light. I ate my evening meal and breakfast in the pub downstairs and the staff were lovely and accommodating. Food was nice typical pub grub. Standard breakfast is continental. Excellent location in the centre and off the main street so there is limited traffic noise.

Felt like home in Glasgow even though I was only here for <24 hrs. Check in at the bar was easy and the gentleman helped me park in the teeny lot and carried my bag up a few flights of narrow stairs to the floor with the rooms. Room was perfect for one! Just the right amount of amenities and appointments. I skipped the included breakfast here because I wanted to check out other spots in Glasgow and that seemed to cause confusion with the staff 😂. Would easily stay again. Super nice folks and good location!

Had a birthday party upstairs and can't fault any aspect. Bar upstairs was well staffed, pints lovely and buffet was great.

My parents and grandparents have always liked this pub. While they have extended the menu so there is a bigger variety of food options I was a bit let down by the Cajun Chicken Sandwich which the chicken seemed a little bit plain. Came with a decent portion of chips and salad though. My mother really enjoyed her smoked haddock pattee and the staff are extremely friendly. May not be to my personal taste but still a good establishment.

It was exceptional and a real highlight of our visit to Glasgow. The choice yesterday and quality of food was excellent - we loved the “insulting” descriptions on the menu. What made it stand out for us was the lovely, helpfully staff - all three of them, but especially the fellow with the “average staff” t- shirt, and also the fast and attentive service. Second course was served after only 40 minutes. I wish we had been years ago

While touring around Scotland last month, this was by far the best stay I had. All the staff were very kind, the food was great, the music session was wonderful, and the interior was beautiful and very clean. Cannot recommend Babbity's highly enough!!

Been taken over. Joke of a place. Staffed by clueless kids who look like something from a 18-24 nightclub. Expect to wait 15 minutes for your drink while they stand in a gossip committee behind the bar. Will be boarded up within months at this rate.

Unfortunately I need to edit my previous 4 star review, as the new owners have left much to be desired. 7 of us were in on the 5th August for food. The menu has changed for the worse, including nachos as a starter. No haggis or specials on the board. The pie on the menu was steak pie, so I presume pie of the week is a goner also? Babbity's was known for their pies, and the new pie just isn't as good. I tried someone's mac & cheese, and I'm sorry it was awful. Tasted bland and was pretty dry - not difficult to make a good mac & cheese. It feels like everything is now done to be as cheap as possible, and you can really tell. The service was truly abysmal. We were pretty much ignored when we tried to order a second round of drinks, and we were completely ignored when it came to paying the bill. I had to go up to the bar and stand there for about 5 minutes whilst one of the staff members walked past me numerous times putting away glasses - not even a "sorry I'll be right with you", just ignored completely. Left zero tip, and won't ever be back for food. A shame, as Babbity Bowster used to be so great. I have given 2 stars, as the new beer garden is nice and you still get a decent Tennents.

Awful staff - their rudeness seems to be encouraged by old one eye (the pretentious, trying too hard to be cool owner) and the food is microwaved. Best avoid this place like the plague.

Popular Scottish style; plenty of folk fans as informal? music on Saturday. Quite small, mainly seating but has beer garden. Crowd generally older and friendly, no one bevied up. Good vibe. Staff friendly. Traditional Scots meals available.

Friendly pub in the Merchant City area housed in a fantastic old building with columned entrance, high ceilings and loads of period features. Friendly landlady, good choice of ales and other beers. All laid out with space so you can have a private conversation. Nice and quiet early on a Sunday evening especially.
