Dobbies used to have a really nice cafe till they did it up a few weeks ago. Now its a souless aircraft hanger more akin to a luxury transport cafe, with tables spaced out and bereft of any decoration, just blank boring walls with no out look and no atmosphere. Once shown a table, are order was taken and after 23 minutes and 4 tables having the orders taken after us and getting their food before us, we had to ask where the food was. Now the order consisted of one tuna and cucumber and one fish finger and tarta sauce sandwich. The tuna had zero cucumber on it and if there was tarta sauce on the fish finger one, it couldn't be tasted. The poor lad serving asked if everything was OK and had to stand and endure our complaints, and judging on what other people were saying, we were not the only ones complaining. This was not poor staff training, but a lack of overseeing by a management that seems to have lost the way with the new cafe and system, most of the time the staff at the coffee counter were standing with nothing to do. Management need to seriously look at the new place and how it works, there must be more than us who think its no longer worth the journey. Its a shame, but a classic ecample of how to "improve" a place and make it terrible. The photos are a cucumberless tuna and cucumber sandwich, a fish finger sandwich, staff with nothing to do, and the souless interior of the cafe.

Has Liz Truss got a new job in marketing ? Over twenty minutes standing in a queue for a coffee ! Another case of changing something that's not broken . Dobbies new restaurant set up leaves much to be desired and many turning tail and leaving .

Been coming to Dobbies in Milngavie for years and loved the relaxed stress free environment arrived today to be abused by the manager Anne-Marie when we tried to speak to her regarding the change. She is an absolute disgrace to Dobbies and I have never ever been disrespected like she just did she should be fired with an attitude like that how Rediculous horrible woman and being she is supposed to be the front face to promote Dobbies I’m in shock. Much better deserving hard working staff on the floor that deserve and would be better suited to represent the company than Ann Marie the manager. I am truly disgusted with her and will be contacting head office. We waited 24 minutes just to get a coffee. Your a disgrace Anne-Marie step down and let one of your lovely colleagues that actually care what paying customers are saying and let them be manager because your people skills are shocking.

Our first visit to this Dobbies in Milngavie. We were very impressed with the size of the car park. Plenty of spaces including a line of spaces for wheel chair users. A wheelchair accessible ramp got us into the outlet. An excellent range of products for the home and garden. The restaurant was not too busy when we visited but there were plenty of staff on duty and we had no problem getting a suitable table. Clean and modern washrooms. Everywhere was wheelchair accessible and for customers who have a Dobbies plus card 20%off most items.

Good stock of plants and home decor items both indoors and outdoors. Lovely softplay area for kids but only downside is its limited seating arrangements and time restrictions as its very difficult to convince a kid to leave the softplay. Overall a lovely place to visit, although personally it would be a bit pricey place to buy basic decor items.

Airy, well laid out, spotlessly clean. Very good quality plants and shrubs, and all things garden. Great pet food and accessories section, some really lovely home furnishings accessories too. The best thing about the shop is DOGS ARE WELCOME!!! I so wish more retail establishments allowed dogs.

Superb garden centre. Lots of good products for the garden but also gifts and kids stuff is nice so can often pick up good gifts. All quite expensive. The cafe is ok, very expensive for what it is e.g. £2.10 for a 330ml can of diet coke! Super soft play tho.

Took at visit to Dobbies Milngavie today. Nice big garden centre with lots to see. Love being able to go places with my dog. Great wee area at restaurant to take her too. My only criticism would be the "small" bowls of soup. I made mention of it to the staff. I had been at Dobbies Braehead two days before and got a decent bowl of soup there so expected the same size at Milngavie. To small a portion for £5.40.

Changed the way you order food. You are seated then a waiter/waitress will come and take your order. We waited 20 mins i had to go find someone to take our order. The response i got from the girl is there is only 2 of us on to take orders. Something to look at Dobbies. Drinks came first then after 10 minutes food. Food was average.

Lovely garden centre. But so much more. There is a large restaurant that serves a wide range of food, think of it like a Service Station restaurant and you get the idea. There is a supermarket if you need to buy your groceries with a selection of local produce. Pretty much anything you want along with a tremendous selection of plants, plant pots etc. and even a play area for Children

Went in today for our usual Xmas hot chocolate a meringue!!!! They have changed the whole place around!!!! No meringue for my kids. Hot chocolate was not its usual standard!! The cafe area is no where near as comfy an cosy as it was!!! I couldn’t get a drink of coke???? Was not impressed at all!!! It’s been our tradition for years going and seeing the decorations, then hot chocolate!! Only thing I was only with was the young guy playing Xmas tunes on the piano!! Totally brilliant!! Although I definitely won’t be rushing back!! An will need to find a new place for our Xmas hot chocolates

Visited Dobbies Milngavie today for the first time. Hugely impressed with the set up. Staff in the restaurant could not have been more helpful. One lady in particular helped me with my tray which was greatly appreciated. I will certainly be visiting again.

Lovely morning enjoying a cake abs coffee while listening to Sam play the piano. Talented guy who is part of the Donnie’s team. Recommend a visit for a brew and a listen

Can’t fault the garden centre side of this Dobbies however the cafe is a completely different story. On our first visit we put the terrible service and lack of available menu options down to teething issues given the new look restaurant but on a second visit, just for coffees and a cake there was no member of staff at the desk at the entrance, a 30 minute wait in the queue, many items not on display in the fridges. When someone else in the queue asked these were available just not on display. Many tables around us were also audible unhappy with the service noting they would not be returning. It has the potential to be a real success but an overhaul of procedures is desperately needed and more staff training.

I travelled there by bus and even within the grounds of Dobbies I didn't feel safe. No safe route for pedestrians. No pavements. Not much consideration from car drivers. I only visit when I really have to because of that.

Big thanks to Douglas and the staff for advice and care for a hefty one man job 300L of bark and some border heather later I have a Scottish garden. Which, true to form is being wonderfully watered in. Thank you.

Out of sheer greed they have revamped the restaurant to accommodate more tables, but haven’t got the staff to cope. The place now looks like a works canteen, but certainly not with canteen prices. I have seen better restaurants in hospitals. There is more atmosphere on the moon. Service was awful, food was ok until I got home.

Changes to restaurant not disabled friendly but staff very helpful. Maybe they should rethink their seating plan. Further visit 3 months later and seating and layout changed. Well done.

👍👍 An excellent experience at Miller and Carter tonight. The food came out quickly and was so incredibly delicious - the steak was cooked to perfection and the beef dripping sauce was to die for! All steaks come with house fries they can up upgraded to chunky chips or sweet potato fried but we honestly...
