Always intended to write a review for this place as it left a lasting bitter taste for me years ago. Went to the restaurant with my gf at the time (both fairly young, not particularly fancy but I was wearing a casual shirt and she was in casual clothes) and waitress was about to welcome us in when some stuffy manager approached and said ‘we don’t have any tables’. The place was literally empty and it was like that scene out of Pretty Woman when they tell her she can’t shop here. Cheers for embarrassing me guys 😛

I don't normally share bad reviews but this place is mediocre at best. Sloppy, slow service. Overpriced for the Christmas lunch and the food was poor. Very stale bread with the smoked salmon starter. It was also a comically tiny portion. The main was burnt potatoes and overcooked seabass with a bright mustard-colour flavourless sauce. The chocolate trio dessert was pretty good but that was the highlight by far. Spend your money elsewhwere.

We booked a table for 4pm and arrived at 3:20 and they were so accommodating. Service was superb and fast considering how busy it was. The staff were so lovely and friendly and everything was very hygienic. Will be back again soon.

Decided to eat here on a whim. The food was delicious (ordered the filled sea bass) and the live music set the mood. I’m from NYC which means I have a high expectation when it comes to food, so don’t take my 5 stars for granted.

Been here a few times and it's generally ok. Have noticed recently that portion control has kicked in. Not good.

The food is beautiful and I love the look of the space. They have a great event room for any kind of event that you're having and great entertainment options too!

I visited today at lunchtime, I was served by the male manager on duty who smiled from the moment he sat us down till the moment we left. He was the most helpful chap and nothing was an issue, he interacted with our little child who just found him hilarious. Welcomed and said goodbye to us a lovely touch. Made our first time visit so enjoyable, food was amazing and this guy deserved the tip we left. We will definitely return and will spread the word of how awesome this place is!! Pity I can only give him 5 stars he deserves more. Thank you darcys. Just wish I new his name I would of mentioned in my review.

Nice choices on their supperclub/evening menu. Decent staff and nice ambiance. Only thing I would have liked is guinness but lager did fine.

Bank Holiday Monday visit with the famalam. Really enjoyed our brunch with the kids. Servers very good with our younger ones, attentive and friendly. Great brunch selection, even a vegetarian full breakfast.

Great selection of fod available, big wine and gin list which is always a plus and staff coudnt do more for us. Very helpful and knowledgable as I had quite a few questions in regards to my gluten intolerance. Big shout out to the young scottish girl with the curly hair who hopped skipped and jumped everywhere- must enjoy her job!

Service was excellent, prompt & attententive while the food also met with our approval (two clean plates). Our overall bill was just over £40 for 2 mains, 2 drinks & a side. Would happily go back again.

Nice restaurant and friendly staff, but the food is just average and not really worth the money spent. Our bill was: 1x Peach mango cooler £3.50 2x pt Pepsi max £6.60 2x kids diluted juice £2 (tiny tiny cup) 2x haddock + chips £22.90 1x kids Mac and cheese £3.95 1x chocolate brownie £5.45 1x sticky toffee £5.45 1 kids pudding (we asked for ice cream sundae & git chocolate cake & ice cream) £1 Total = £50.85 with vat My haddock was just OK, my wife's had very crispy batter not much fish, not consistent. The toffee pudding was delicious, the best part of the meal. The kids £1 juice was just silly, tiny little cup of diluted juice and charging a quid for it. I wouldn't recommend going here if you're on a budget, you'd get more for your money and better quality of food in surrounding restaurants.

I used to be a chef in here years ago and the food was amazing ..! The homemade chicken curry was outstanding..! I allways said I would go back one afternoon to see what's it is like now but after looking at the menu I,ll think I,ll give it a miss ...but the cocktails look delicious might pop in for one .....

Fantastic experience here tonight. Ate off their evening menu which apparently had some new taster dishes from their new menu- if this is the case, I will definitely be back. Had a fantastic glass of malbec, but thinking we might try some of the new cocktails on our return. Was served by an older woman (maybe the manager) who was welcoming and served us promptly.

A disappointing experience. The seater and waiter were both very friendly. It was busy when we went there so we were offered a tall table with tall stools but they were perfectly comfortable. The menu was great and we were quite excited and wondered why we had not been there before. The food, however was disappointing. We ordered the lemon and thyme monkfish scampi which sounded great but was dry and overcooked. It came with chunky chips which were good. We also ordered the smoked salmon and citrus fishcakes (starter) which did not really have any salmon in and tasted more like potato filled Thai fish cakes. And a side mini mac and cheese. This was pale white, with runny sauce and no cheese. Clearly I am spoiled but the last time I ordered this (different restaurant) it was topped with melted cheese and delicious. Also a side f skinny fries which was a fairly small portion and nothing to write home about. In fact their chunky chips were better and I am a skinny fries person so this tells you something. It was not a cheap experience either. £1495 for very overcooked, pretty tasteless, dry monkfish scampi is too much money. £6.95 for 3 minuscule fishcakes with not much fish also not worth it. A shame because the staff were great, the location good and the menu looked really exciting. If the good had been excellent the prices would not have seemed so high. We will not be coming back.

cam here for nice meal with parents and children. kids love garden furniture in princess square area and my parents enjoy the restaurant with its nice decorations and good atmosphere. me and my wife enjoyed nice fish and chips with peas, which were very big and nice value. maybe menu could have more choice as all food were a little same but still enjoyed food.

Had festive afternoon tea booked for a special treat , cup of tea came about 10 minutes before the 'high tea ' then had to ask for milk and sugar and teaspoons only to be told all the teaspoons were in 'the wasn't!!!!!! Next much to my annoyance I discovered one of the individual pots of jam served with the scones had already been used. All in all a very disappointing experience and unfortunately would not recommend.

Quite disappointed in this visit to Darcys. Got seated quickly, but then everything started to lag. The time it took to get a menu, to order food and the food to come out. I would understand if it was busy, but pretty quiet. Final straw was waiting 23 min for 2 desserts, that didnt requiring cooking. It has put me off going back as a family, the kids were fed up, and wanted to go home before their ice cream arrived. It wasnt the weekend we were there. It was a Thursday and I can assure you the restaurant only had a couple of tables booked at half 5 at night. We did mention to the waitress at the time.

Had the festive lunch with a group of female friends. At £23 for 3 courses it wasn't cheap, but the food was good and tasty. We were however disappointed with the portion sizes. A measly 3 (!!!) brussels sprouts with the turkey. Sprouts are dirt cheap and cost £1 for a large bag so they could easily have given more potatoes and sprouts. Desserts were tiny. I was still hungry and had to go and eat somewhere else an hour later! I am 5ft 2 and skinny so not a 6ft guy whose appetite would have been bigger. Service was very good as was the ambiance. 3 stars as this wasn't good value for money and as such I wouldn't go back as I like to feel full after a meal and not still hungry. Veg is cheap so you could easily add more to a plate when customers are paying £23!! Re response from the Manager. Take a look at the amount on the plate and ask yourself if your family or you would be happy with such a small portion. Three sprouts??? Tiny desserts. You know fine well you are giving less to maximise profits. This is not being fair to your customer base. I have never had to ask for more food in a restaurant before. Being cheap and not giving value for money will hurt your business in the long run .

Just went to Darcys for a works retirement do was in the private function suite .the food was really nice the lentil and cucumber soup was a little spicy apart from that really nice.had chicken on the bone served with a mashed potato and petit poise peas the potato had a touch of coriander and was served like a pancake.very nice. The chicken was served like a rib on the bone very tender to eat and tasted delicious.dessert was sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and a butterscotch sauce .only thing that spoiled the pudding was that it was served cold only a slight heat in it .apart from that it was a great meal and the surroundings and staff service was good.

Stopped by for brunch this morning (Sunday) on route to station and really enjoyed our food and the service we received. Smoked Salmon & Eggs and Breakfast Bruchetta. Food was tasty, service was attentive and welcoming and a couple nice coffees to finish off. Just what we needed before a long trip home

Always, always busy which is a good sign. Menu is a bit limited for vegetarians but I've never had a bad meal in here. Toilets were clean but decidedly shabby looking.

Terrible service, terrible food. Fish had bones in it, and batter was brown-black. It took 10 mins for us to get seated even though there was many seats available. It also took them another 15 mins for anyone to come to serve us. Ridiculous.
