Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, the church has consecrated since 1197 and has found since the 12th century. The church is very, very huge, you feel its greatness and the greatness of its history since approaching it, and you feel that you are very small in comparison with its magnitude. Entrance for tourists is free, and no prior reservation is required. Highly recommended.

There isn't an entry fee into Glasgow Cathedral but believe me you won't hesitate putting money into the donation box on your way out. It is a magnificent place to visit. The cathedral is breathtaking when you first see it, perfectly positioned with the graves on a steep hill behind it. There are plenty people around to ask about different things. It is like a tardis with room after room and on different levels. I will let the pictures do the talking, I couldn't do it justice. Give yourself plenty time to see everything.

Beautiful building regardless of your faith; Glasgow Cathedral presents an invaluable insight into the city's history and is well worth a visit. The Gothic architecture is even more stunning in person, and there are a number of artifacts and historic areas of the building that are accompanied by descriptions.

I never came inside since I did not have the time, but I did not need to. Having seen so many elaborate and enchanting cathedrals across Scotland that lay in ruins after the chaos and turmoil of the Reformation I am very thrilled in relieved that this one survives. It feels like a sanctuary, a mysterious and vast place of profound peace and calm. Coming close to it gives the visceral thrill of being in the presence of something unspeakably ancient, the collective will and passion of an age that has now receded to the world of legends and ghosts. In the soft autumn light between rows of gnarled trees with golden leaves, it looks particularly appropriate.

I didn't get the privilege of going inside, but this cathedral is one of the most beautiful buildings I've ever seen. It looked absolutely incredible at night, the lights complementing the articulate design of the roof and exterior of the structure. Going to the necropolis gives a particularly great view of the cathedral from afar.

This medieval cathedral is thought to have been built on the site of St Kentigern’s tomb and marks the birthplace of the city of Glasgow. One of Scotland's most magnificent medieval buildings, Glasgow Cathedral is the only one on the Scottish mainland to survive the Reformation of 1560 intact. Glasgow Cathedral is built on the site where St Kentigern, or Mungo, is thought to have been buried in AD 612. St Kentigern was the first bishop within the ancient British kingdom of Strathclyde, and the present cathedral was built during the 13th - 15th centuries.

It’s massive. You can see a lot of stained glass works which are really cool. Pay attention to the unicorn drawings on the glass, the unicorn is a symbol for Scotland as the lion is for England. Behind the cathedral you can also visit the necropolis and see the interesting gravestones.

If you only can see one thing in Glasgow you must come here. This is one of the most beautiful cathedrals I’ve ever been in. The stain glass is so unique and truly stunning. The outside stone looks almost burnt. They said it was due to the stone being sandstone and during the industrial era the pollution soaked into the porous stone and turned it black. Just a fun fact. The downstairs is beautiful and currently (for COP26) has some cool art exhibits. The staff are incredibly nice. A cannot miss, and after go to the Necropolis.

Love these old locations and the fantastic size and detail these people were able to create. Not too big so an hour is fine to check it out. Many memorials of fallen soldiers and saints the usual stuff for a chatolic cathedral I would say. The staff is helpful and free of charge to enter with guided tours provided for free too. If there is available guide.

At last, I visited the cathedral and it was a great experience. You can visit this place for free. The place was crowded when I visited. If you are a history buff then there is a lot to explore here and that can consume lots of time, so it's always better to plan and come. I was surprised by the massive size of this cathedral, a feature not commonly found in modern cathedrals. There are spacious undergrounds inside the cathedral and that was a mind-blowing experience.

Especially nice for fans of Outlander given the fact that some scenes were filmed here. Very similar cathedral to other cathedrals in Europe but still nice to visit in combination with the necropolis! Free guided tours available too which is nice

Glasgow Cathedral is one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever seen. It is breathtaking. If you visit, have a look at the lower ground as well. I atended Watch Night on Christmas Eve and I loved it. If you are an Outlander fan, then you have to visit! It is stunning.

A Gothic cathedral, originally Catholic until the Reformation. Rather dark inside. The stained glass windows are awesome as usual. There is a necropolis on top of a nearby hill that has an eerie appearance from below. There is a Museum of Religion on the grounds that compared the beliefs of the major religions. Very interesting. Across the street is the oldest house in Glasgow, built in 1471.

It's a great experience to visit the Glasgow cathedral. On my first visit, I was not aware about the history of Cathedral. Later came to know it was more than 800 years old, which means than 10 generation would have worshipped. Previously due to Covid situation, I couldn't make another trip. Now Cathedral has reopened with online booking. Staff was very friendly and since there was less crowd, it was good experience to explore the place. A Bible which is more than 400 years old is also kept on display. If you like historical place,it's a place you shouldn't miss.

Simply loved it, it's small but full of really interesting facts and religions history. I personally learned a few things about religions that I had no idea. It's not focused on one religion but the 6 main ones are exposed, also some facts about minor religions and believes from all over the world. Loved it! 😍

Very beautiful, calm, and peaceful Cathedral Church with a beautiful Necropolis on a nearby lush green hill. The Church congregation and staff are also very pleasant and humble. The Church has beautiful gothic architecture and fascinating memorials dating back centuries. It’s said to be the oldest building and church in Glasgow, that was built around the 12th Century. Definitely worth a visit.

A very interesting cathedral, with lots of Scottish history. It is rather dark inside. But the Gothic lines are nice. Unlike many cathedrals, this one has an expired wood roof.

This is free entry and easily accessible entrance. Take note there are no toilets on the premises, the closest ones are a 5 minute walk away and cost 20p. The cathedral itself benefits from limited numbers for each 30 minute entry, you can book tickets ahead of time for your slot. We went during the Easter holidays and didnt have any queueing but it depends if you want to risk it. There is an audio guide (costs) and this helps to walk you through the rich history including the very early King James bible (on show).

Pretty cathedral, shame about the neon signs used inside too, I assume, make it more trendy. They only detract from the historic building in my opinion. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you are a fan of Outlander as it has been used heavily in the filming.

Love that Glasgow has so many free things to visit. Crazy that the first building work began in the 1100s and took 350 years to finish. Beautiful architecture and stained glass. Lots of nooks and crannies. Short walk from shopping.

A beautiful cathedral that is the equal of many in England, well preserved and full of interesting places and things to see. It is beautiful outside and inside and is a quiet place to spend a few contemplative moments. Visit the tomb of St. Mungo patron saint of Glasgow and Bishop Wishart supporter of Robert The Bruce and who provided Bruce's coronation robes and royal banner both in the crypt The staff are friendly and helpful and if asked are able to add plenty of facts and information to enhance your visit. Entry is free, park in the designated car parks it is cheaper than the street parking

It was annoying to arrive when they are supposed to open and initially be told that they’ll be opening an hour late for an event. Then we waited an hour and then it turned out that they weren’t opening until 2 PM. We only had one day in Glasgow, so this was a huge inconvenience for us so they should certainly know what time they’re actually opening when there’s tourists on time constraints . Nonetheless out of Glasgow cathedral, Saint Giles Cathedral and Roslyn Chapel, this comes in last place for beauty and architecture. Rosslyn being first. It’s still worth seeing if they’re actually open.

This is probably the smallest cathedral I have ever visited. It is notable for some very beautiful stained glass windows

Great place for learning about religion! You can also get a great view of the glasgow cathedral from within here. I can't recommed enough as is free to visit but chances to donate if you like.

Small but great museum about religions and spirituality. It's particularly well presented, with many objects/clothes/texts/pieces of art used to describe or pinpoint some aspects of the spiritual life of various groups of humans around the planet. The museum is free, very close to the cathedral, and also hosts a typically Scottish Zen garden (imagine a zen garden with weeds gently sprouting from the stones :-) and a nice café.

Great cafe. Have been round the museum years ago. Use the cafe regularly.

Very good cafe for coffee or snacks. Open weekends. They have various exhibitions so worth a look if you have time.

I have an interest in Japanese gardens and in particular Zen gardens. While the basic form of the garden is there. The whole purpose of Zen is the dutiful daily attention to the smallest of details in maintaining the original designers ideas. This Zen garden is disgrace to the thought of mindfulness care and attention. There are weeds everywhere and the grass is weed ridden. There was rubbish and debris lying about. This was a major disappointment for me having travelled through from Perth. I could also see many Asian visitors who must also have also thought OMG 😱

I love visiting this Museum, however today was special as I went to see the Anne Frank exhibition. This was very sad and thought provoking. What a courageous young lady she was, as were all the brave people who did what they could to help others

Fascinating museum of all faiths and religions around the world, now and through history. The museum is bright, modern and very engaging. Great for adults and children equally. Highly recommended for people of any faith or indeed none. There is a lovely cafe here too that is convenient for anyone visiting the Cathedral, the Necropolis or the Provand's Lordship museum just across the road.

I have always been interested in the different religions so I found this little museum engaging. They did a great job with the displays and artifacts to illustrate how different belief systems regulate ceremonies for birth, marriage, death and other lifetime rituals. It is well worth a visit if you are curious about rites of passage! (We had a short time here on a cruise ship for the day (docked in Greenock) - we did it on our own and fit in the Necropolis, Glasgow Cathedral, St Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art, Provand's Lordship, the HOHO bus, lunch at George Square and Rick Steves "Glasgow Walk" from his book.)

🙏🧘‍♂️🧘‍♀️🌄🌅🌌✨🌊🌻🐈🐕🦚🦅🕊🐬🕉☸✡✝️☪️

This is my first visit to any Cathedral, The Glasgow Cathedral exterior and interior looks very good. The is very well maintained, and looks mesmerizing, each window glass painting has is own history and significance. I will recommend if you are planning to visit Glasgow try to visit the Cathedral. And try to book in advance and a time slot.

Amazing interior and external grounds. It grabs the eye from a long way off. It's a shame that the lower areas and alter were off limits. I'm sure they could have allowed these to be open with measures in place.

Free, but book your tickets in advance due to indoor rules. An absolutely GORGEOUS cathedral with incredible stained glass windows. A must see.

  • 5/5 Quickstar L. 2 years ago on Google
It is a beautiful dated structure. The access is easy and parking is not a hassle. It is beautiful on the inside and out. One feels transported to a different era altogether and the efforts of craftsmen are reflected through their work. Even though I did not understand it, the windows are very beautiful made through some type of artwork that the mrs really enjoyed. The people here were friendly, welcoming and encouraging. The church staff or some thing. They were also very knowledgeable and informative.

Loved every corner of the cathedral. The underground was also beautiful. You must visit this place. Go to necropolis for a nice walk too!

  • 5/5 Cathleen C. 1 year ago on Google
Massive cathedral landmark dating from the 12th century (that was built over 350 years). Interesting Victorian necropolis. Well maintained and staffed. Recommended.

  • 5/5 Matheus 1 year ago on Google
Defined the most impressive and beautiful architectural historical site I have been at my entire life. Cathedral is gorgeous, really impressive for a 8 century monument, there is nothing like that anywhere.

  • 5/5 Darrin G. 10 months ago on Google
Well worth the stop and close by to the necropolis (graveyard on the hill). Both will take you about 2 hours combined. The architecture of the building was beautiful. They have clearly tried to maintain the essence of the original style while also keeping the cathedral in good condition. Free admission with some donations to help keep the history preserved.

It's a must see. I've been in Glasgow for years. And never have I been in the Cathedral. Amazing. I need to go back. We didn't have enough time to see it all properly but what we did see was fantastic. Huge. Definitely a must see for locals and tourists alike.

  • 4/5 Kara C. 9 months ago on Google
Loved the views here and the walk around the cathedral! They were closed that day to outside visitors, so I wish they would have posted that on the website. It’s free to get in, but many people, including myself, made plans to tour it that day and there was just a sign outside saying no one could go in.

  • 5/5 Emma K. 10 months ago on Google
This wasn’t a planned stop in our visit of Glasgow and we loved it. A beautiful building and the nearby necropolis was a highlight for our trip! Definitely recommend adding this as a stop on your visit.

Amazing Church. It was a big surprise, I didn't know what it was inside the building but it was wonderful. Rich in architecture. If you are in Glasgow, takes your time here. This has to be seen.

A hidden gem since there is so much emphasis on Edinburgh. Glasgow's Cathedral is rich in history and beauty, and the free guides shepherding our visit is memorable. He loved the Cathedral and it was evident. You can spend as long as you want but you need to allow a good hour for the guide. Well worth a day trip on the train over from Edinburgh.

Definitely worth a visit, lots of history and the cemetery behind was massive and pretty scenic, not sure that's what you want when visiting a cemetery. Still lovely to look at and wonder around

Entry to St. Mungo's Cathedral is free, making it an accessible attraction for all. Once inside, you'll be immersed in the tranquil ambiance, where you can explore the impressive nave and marvel at the majestic organ. Don't forget to visit the lower crypt, home to the tomb of St. Mungo, Glasgow's patron saint.
