George Square is a vibrant city centre location surrounded by impressive architecture and statues of famous figures. You can take a guided tour of City Chambers, enjoy lunch in the Square, or enjoy an outdoor event in one of the many festivals held there throughout the year. The area also offers an array of shopping, dining, and entertainment options, making it the perfect day out in Glasgow.

It’s the headquarters of the city council where it held in the city center and well known as the place where people celebrate and gather to protest and chill sometimes when the sun is up. So many statues and monuments for Robert Burns, James Watt, Sir Robert Peel and Sir Waiter Scott. Spectacular and memorable place to visit and spend some good time in the site

Very central square in Glasgow. It is large area with lot of statues and monument. The Scottish history and footprints are present on this square as well. There is also bus stop from which you can take city sightseeing bus tour around Glasgow. It's very useful when you don't have much time to explore the city.

If you're like me you will be drawn here without the need of any reviews or advice since it is the heart of the city, a place that is always rushing with activity and life. There is an unadorned and welcoming vitality to it that I greatly appreciate. Still, I would recommend taking the time to honour the more somber and reflective aspects of the square such as the memorial to the Scots who gave their lives for the country during World War I and received a fitting tribute, regal and patriotic without being ornate. The main governmental building exudes the richly exuberant and elaborate magnificence of a bygone age when Glasgow was one of the fastest growing cities of Europe.

A great place to relax, read a book, feed pigeons, enjoy the summer sun, or anything you'd love to do in a park . The seats placed all around the square are helpful especially for the elders. This is even awesome at night time as you can see in the photo. Open for public. Queen Street Train Station just across the street. Lots of nearby pubs as well. Enjoy!

Georges Square is a great place to go to especially during the Christmas times because you get to see the Christmas lights and the Christmas market but also it's a place people can go to for political protests. I've attended a few protests on this square and it's empowering when you're together as one to stand for what you believe in. There are times when people use this square for education and inform people about what is going on around the world which I thought was a fantastic thing to do in this day and age. I've also attended here for concerts too so as you can imagine there's a little bit of everything that happens in George Square!

Not bad but not too much for tourist, though there isn’t much to do but looking at the statues and the beautiful building around the square makes it a worthwhile place to rest. There are numerous monuments in the square to some of the great statesmen associated with the town so if you are a history buff then this place should be on your listsπŸ˜€

I usually did sunbathing in this area. The George Square is perfect place to sit down and watching the birds flying around. A good spot for taking picture and leave so many sweet memories being here.

Visited St George's Square whilst having a weekend meet up with some friends. A great little area for tourists visiting Glasgow, good for photos or just hanging out. Local transport and bus services available as well as food and drink establishments.

Excellent museum. We spent an afternoon here while we were waiting for our check in time at the hotel where we were staying and we're concerned we'd struggle to find enough to keep us entertained. How wrong we were! Along with the tall ship outside it's easily possible to spend hours here l. Would definitely recommend to any visitor.

Not the usual hustle and bustle of the Christmas Markets with all the ongoing Covid situation. But was nice to take the kids, they seemed to enjoy themselves and it was pretty impressive when it was lit up at night time. Hopefully next year will bring back the markets and the fair ground attractions for the children

Christmas market on with loads of choice food wise, ice rink, big wheel, swings, a bit on the expensive side but it's Glasgow at Christmas πŸ˜„β€οΈ definitely recommend a visit! Nice and clean too with plenty of security staff etc.

I attended the Remembrance Sunday service, 2023. In the SNP benighted country that is Scotland, it is rare to experience the wholesome Scottish inheritance. I was fortunate enough so to do. The Best of Scotland. Upright. Dignified. Honest. No Holyrood lies herein. A packed Square with happy, normal people.

Absolutely beautiful at Christmas, feeling very festive with the foods on display and chocolate not to mention the shows and fantastic lights. There is a real buzz about the place.

George Square is one of the most famous squares in Glasgow, Scotland. During the Christmas holidays, the square is transformed into an authentic Christmas atmosphere. George Square hosts a massive Christmas tree that is lit up every night. The tree is an iconic attraction in Glasgow and draws visitors from all over the world. It also hosts a Christmas market that offers a variety of stalls selling handcrafted goods, food, and drinks. The market is a great place to find unique gifts and to soak up the Christmas atmosphere.

It's an iconic square and monument of Europe and UK, in the city of Glasgow. This is my first time hear and I'm sad, when we read about this city in hour history books it's all about the industrial revolution of the modern world, but now I see a remnants of bygone era of once one of the most important city of the world.

In winter, especially holiday time, this place is very impressive and so beautifully decorated with Christmas lights, enlarged in size Christmas objects eg walk in Xmas tree bulb, beautiful. I will post more updated photos of summer view later.

We tagged along to a walking tour with the wonderful Ian from walking tours, and the experience went from β€˜pretty nice’ to β€˜Wow!’. Learned so much about the history and development of Glasgow through the descriptions and renditions of history via the statues in the square. We then continued on for a while to learn more about surrounding buildings and historical figures. Get a guide, download a walking tour, or just a little brochure if you can and the experience will be much more than just a nice square!

Located in the centre of Glasgow, George Square is a must-see for visitors. Wonderful statues and monuments directly across from the City Chambers, it's a great place to have some lunch, enjoy the sunshine, and take in the atmosphere. If you are afraid of birds - this is probably not the best place for you as there are LOADS of pigeons around! :)

Nice to find they have extended the disabled bays around the square. Normally busy but almost always clean and tidy. Just as well as its very popular with tourists seeking photo opportunities.

I love Glasgow. Amazing murals on the side of sandstone buildings and of course the home town of the big man Billy Connolly. Braehead snow zone and climbing walls. Lots of museums and amazing architecture. The gothic style attracting film directors to shoot movies...most recent Bat Girl as in pictures from Jan 2022. It is my home town so I may be bias but there are so many beautiful places to visit, historical buildings, pubs and restaurants filled with friendly people πŸ’• People make Glasgow πŸ’•

When the sun is shining it's a nice place to sit and have some lunch. Has a few monuments of famous people like Robert Burns and Sir Walter Scott. Some lovely old buildings surround the square. If your fortunate you may see a movie being filmed here. Recently The Flash, Batgirl and the latest Indiana Jones movie have been filmed here.

I visited George square during my visit to Glasgow. It is a historical monumental place. Where statues of different historical personalities are erected.

  • 5/5 Roberto F. 10 months ago on Google
I will never forget the first time I visit the square. It was 2011and I found an apocalyptic landscape. Lot of people congregated around capsized ambulances and trash trucks, police cars destroyed...it took me while realized that there were filming the movie World War Z and the place was transformed to look like a US city. In any case, it worth visiting and enjoy the view of the buildings around. If you are lucky you can find an event with music, craft and good street food.

A beautiful, yet classic tourist area of Glasgow City. Blessed with gorgeous autumnal weather this particular day, the George Square was stunning - buzzing with "the people who make Glasgow". Situated amongst the stately architecture of City Hall, was a lovely open garden area marked with notable statues of honoured historical people. The bars and restaurant scene is as vast as this underrated great city - well worth a visit whilst in splendid Scotland.

Very pretty all year 'round and it's great for tourists with only one day to spend due to so much history being packed into one small location. Features restaurants, eateries, pubs and the Queen Street train station which serves as the perfect link to areas outside Glasgow.
