Very beautiful gardens. Loved the green house and glass houses, they are so pretty. It's a nice place to relax with friends n family. Make sure to bring nuts for the little squirrels

The Botanic gardens is a great place to come and relax for a few hours. Only 7 minutes walk from Hillhead underground and you come to a well maintained park with multiple footpaths winding there way through the multitude of plants, lawns and trees. The star of this part is definitely the two large greenhouses housing plants, ferns, palms, trees etc. from across the world. Great opportunity to learn more about plants from each of the continents. The park has both toilets and a nice little place to grab a coffee, some cake or a sandwich. Would highly recommend this as a place to visit.

Picked a lovely day for a wander through the greenhouses. Well looked after. The flower beds outside were beautiful too. A good way to spend a day. And it has the kelvin walkway too. You have the choice of the tea room or the take away caravan for a refreshment. I will be back.

Used the clockwork orange train and had a 5 minute walk to the gardens. It's free and well worth a visit. The glass houses are spacious but wouldn't be suitable for wide pushchairs prams or mobility scooters due to the space between the plant exhibits. The formal gardens are well signposted and there are cafe facilities too

I love the glass houses here. They are free to enter. They close at 6: 00pm, but the rest of the park is open later. They're magical, they transport you to different places and climates, It was fascinating. The rest of the park is nice too. We walked around for about an hour and a half. They have a nice little food truck where you can buy sandwiches, ice cream, cocoa, coffee, etc Great place for a picnic & romantic stroll.

Gorgeous and very interesting. Lots of info provided. Benches and tables in the grounds.Too much for us to do in one day, but luckily we have been before and managed to do the other greenhouses. Thoroughly recommended.

Absolutely amazing. Visited in late May and so many beautiful blooms right now. Glass houses are very nice as well, so many different plants. You can spend all day there whatever the weather. Perfect place for children, has a small playground. Dogs on leads are welcome, unfortunately not allowed in glass houses. Entrance is free. Definitely recommend.

What a fantastic place to visit. There are so many plants in the different greenhouses. It's lovely to wander around, and you can learn a bit more about what's growing here. There was so much to see here, and the gardens were full of so many different kinds of plants and flowers. There was also a large area where people could bring a blanket, sit down, and relax which was a really nice area.

The place is beautiful 😻 If you love greenery and near a day or half away from rush and chaos, this is place for you. Especially Kibble Palace! Witnessed people reading in the silence of kibble palace, made me want to experience it someday. Mesmerising ferns and varieties preserved for more than 100 years is in itself very credible! 4 starts

Awesome place to spend a weekend afternoon. Lots to see. There are a lot of walking and cycling paths along the riverside and beautiful wooded sections. The plants inside the greenhouses are just amazing and they have put a lot of effort to make it feel like you're almost waking though a real tropical jungle in some sections. No entry fee but please do donate as they have maintained the place really well. No need to book tickets in advance.

What’s not to like ?! Victorian engineering , tropical plants, fantastic history and information boards, and it’s free to get in. A great day out and can happily spend a few hours here. In summer time the outdoors are also a great place to explore. Still one of my all time favourite places in Glasgow.

Amazing place. The greenhouses are like nothing I've ever seen. I was blown away that there was an entire room devoted to carnivorous plants. It was mind blowing. Then to find in the next greenhouse an entire room to begonias really opened my mind as I always thought begonias were a bit boring, well not anymore! The entirety of the grounds were great!

Amazing place and free. They have food vendors most days. Beautiful park and very large with tons of places to walk and see. Many people bring dogs as there is tons of space! Definitely recommend for anyone. There is also a small but very nice playground for children!

Very relaxing place to go for a long walk. Plenty of paths to walk around, also walk next to the riverside and beautiful greenhouses filled with the most amazing plants and are all free to visit. For me, the only downside was that it was way too full of people, but it is a big city, it was weekend and the weather was absolutely gorgeous, so that is totally understandable. Dogs are also allowed in the garden, but not in the greenhouses.

Really interesting history behind the gardens and glasshouses which is explained well on info boards. The planting is great, a good mix of native and exotic plants displayed really well. Some cool sculptures in the glasshouses. Free entry - would not have minded putting something in a donations box. Would have liked some more interpretation boards in the arboretum section. Nice playground for young children. Parking was tricky to find within 5 minutes walk, but I would imagine on-street parking would be easier if we'd gone earlier in the day - however the glasshouses are currently only open from 12 midday. We took a picnic and there were plenty of places to sit, but not in shelter. There is a cafe though, so if it is raining you could eat and keep dry!

Very nice small botanical garden in west Glasgow. Some houses were unfortunately closed due to maintenance, but the big one was open and very beautiful 😍 also the park is well designed and it was a pleasure to walk through it. Also a small café is there which we didn’t try, but it looked amazing

Small-ish when compared to say Glasgow Greens, but there are 2 very well cared for Greenhouses, clean facilities and plenty of space to sit or lie down among the greenery. A few dogs on leashes. Food and drink available on site. No parking that I saw, but easy to walk to from the subway or anywhere you found to park. Oh and free 😊

Such an incredibly beautiful place :))) you enter the gates (free!) Into a lovely park with paths to ramble along and large grassy patches to sit. There are many old growth trees too. The glasshouses are impeccable. The plant species inside of them are varied going from fully aquatic to tropical to desert. There are decent toilets and cute wee places to get a snack. Highly recommend.

Absolutely loved this place. Didn't expect so much interesting plant life to be thriving in January but there's so much to see in the different sections. Definitely worth a visit if you're interested in seeing some exotic plants that you are unlikely to see in gardens and parks.

What a fantastic, beautiful place to visit while in Glasgow. Not only are the Victorian greenhouses stunning in themselves but the plants and grounds themselves are mind blowing. From simple moss and grasses to tropical plants and oases. And to top it all off, it is very easy to get to from the city centre with some lovely places to eat and drink nearby to make it a great day out. I wouldn't recommend it for small children mind you. Go have a visit!

I love botany and enjoyed the walk in the gardens. The plants are well preserved and the information is adequate. It’s a thirty minute walk if you want to see all specimens and it can be a bit humid in there (as expected).

Very nice Park, lots of space, good amount of seating, very well maintained. Due to covid only one indoor exhibit was open, but it was very nice and the staff were friendly. Lots of dogs and a few food vendors.

  • 4/5 Amina D. 3 years ago on Google
A nice variety of plants and flowers to view, gardens are beautiful and well kept, with a herb garden, and vegetable garden (in working progress). There's a children's garden that was currently closed but looked good, and a children's play area. The main glass house was also closed, but that also looked worth a visit.

  • 5/5 Abbie M. 10 months ago on Google
Almost didn’t come here because I thought it was just a small green house with a few plants inside but had some extra time one day so I decided to check it out. It’s more than just a greenhouse, there’s a whole park, rose gardens, walking paths, and herb and veg gardens. It’s a nice area to sit out and have a picnic on a sunny day and enjoy the outdoors. There’s also a food and drinks stand, and plenty of benches to sit and chill for a bit. Its now one of my favorite places in Glasgow!

Beautiful garden. The greenhouses are particularly worthwhile. There are lots of squirrels jumping around, which are very trusting and easy to observe. On a nice day you can sit on the bench and relax a bit.

Lovely gardens to enjoy a walk or seat especially during lockdown. In normal times hosts outdoor theatre and light shows. Well worth a visit. Good quality snack van at entrance.

So beautiful and we maintained. Fortunately I happened to visit the Gardens on a sunny day and it felt magical. I couldn't see any roses in the Rose Garden though (I think it's off season). It's just a couple of metres outside the Uni. It's gonna be my go-to chill-out space (other than Kelvingrove park ofcourse).

Must-visit place in Glasgow! I visited the Glasgow Botanic Gardens during a one-day stop at Glasgow on my trip to Scotland this summer (June 2023). Since I couldn't arrive at the Garden before 6pm to see the Kibble Palace as I had planned, I dropped in again the next morning on my way to Edinburgh. And the detour was definitely worth it! It would take about two hours to walk around all the glasshouses/greenhouses. The Kibble Palace can get slightly crowded with school kids. I particularly loved the section of the Kibble Palace with carnivorous plants. Do bear in mind that it can get quite hot inside as that's what glasshouses are obviously supposed to do. So, carrying some drinking water and taking quick breaks in between is the best way to tour the place. There is more to the Botanic Gardens than the greenhouses. It's also a perfect place to sit or lie down and picnic, or to take a walk.

  • 3/5 Neda N. 1 year ago on Google
A place of calm and beauty in a hectic city. complete with multiple areas and rich history presented across the campus. The park has both toilets and a nice little place to grab a coffee, but I think it's not enough. It needs to be more especially to the toilet.

  • 5/5 Larien M. 9 months ago on Google
Glasgow Botanic Garden is a mesmerizing urban escape that warmly welcomes all at no cost. Its stunning array of flora, serene water features, and historic structures like Kibble Palace create a delightful experience. This free-to-enter sanctuary is a true gift, inviting locals and tourists alike to immerse themselves in nature's splendor.

  • 5/5 Nina C. 3 years ago on Google
A beautiful place to spend time with the family!!! I would avoid the place that sells ice cream located inside the park as I found it very dear. Will opt for the ice cream vans next time I am there I think!

Rollerskated through here but it is not very good to skate in. It is hilly so not the best. It was busy even though we are in Covid times. I was happy to see that even though it was relatively busy everyone was socially distancing.

  • 5/5 Nikos P. 6 months ago on Google
Lush greens and spikes of colour transport you to warmer climates. It took me an hour to enjoy the whole collection of plants. Entrance is free and I visited in a Monday and had the greenhouses (almost) to myself.

The botanic gardens are my favourite place in Glasgow, nowhere else in the city is so tranquil. The gardens are full of beautiful plants, and friendly squirrels. And the greenhouses bursting at the seams with plants of every description, orchids, to carnivorous plants, giant ferns and cacti. There are two fish ponds, which I could spend hours watching, filled with beautiful goldfish. I could spend hours here everyday!

  • 5/5 Alex et L. 3 years ago on Google
I wasn't able to see any squirrel... and I came twice! Why is life so unfair?! Joking aside, nice park to have a walk, nice people to talk to. The greenhouses offer a very interesting atmosphere to learn a few things about plants. I liked the place overall!

Even in the era of COVID - 19, Glasgow Botanic Gardens is treasure of the west end for all who live in or visit Glasgow. A glorious space among a starting to thrive again urban centre of specialist shops, cafés, restaurants and bars. You can feel you are in a marvelous country park with gently slopping hillocks to amble around, expansive lawns to lounge on or well placed benches to sit and ponder deep thoughts, chat or doze pleasantly. For those inclined you can learn about flowers, shrubs and trees; and what gardens looked like in centuries past. A great place to bring children with a well equipped playground but loads of paths safe for them and their bikes and scooters. It'll only get better when the glass houses and Kebble Palace reopen. All this and ready access to more marvelous walks along the River Kelvin.

If you are one of the nature lover, this garden has to be in your list. So many different trees, flowers etc. to look at. Kids are not forgetten as usual with a play ground but it is for probably below 5 year old. One thing might force you is to upright roads that could be difficult for kids and cyclists.

The kibble and glasshouses are truly amazing. I miss being able to take in deep breathes of the air, and access every section but as soon as covid has fully passed I hope to spend as much time as possible here enjoying the hard work of many gardeners.
