The exhibition is looking excellent after renovation, with digital screens, films and explanatory displays. It's fun for children as some of the screens have interactive games. Free entry and very much worth a visit. The gift shop is also full of lovely stuff!

A museum located inside the pollok country park. The design of the museum is really fantastic! It was cloudy when I set off from Glasgow city centre and when I arrived at the park the weather suddenly cleared up. The roof of the museum is made of glass and the sunlight pours in, it's really beautiful. When I actually started visiting the exhibits, I honestly didn't expect to settle down and read the information on the exhibits at first (because English is not my first language and the museums I visited before they gave long and boring information on the exhibits and I didn't have the patience to read them all) However, this museum gave me a completely different feeling! The information they give next to each exhibit is concise, giving the main information about the exhibit, with easy-to-understand questions to guide the visitor's thinking. I spent about three hours in this museum to finish it, and the whole thing was very interesting!

Leaving a review specifically because I was very impressed with the facilities here. They provide gender neutral toilets which is fantastic, as well as several stations for filling up your water bottles; this was a lifesaver as we came to Pollock Park with our dogs and they were very thirsty throughout the day. We visited one of the cafes and had a banana muffin and it was delicious. The gift shop was beautiful and had a huge selection of lovely magnets, purses, teddies, pens, scarfs, and so much more. I definitely recommend visiting here.

I love the burrel collection. The collections are complete and vary. Most importantly they provide interactive video or game to the visitor. Spend 2 to 3 hours if you want you enjoy all the collection.

Free admission however you can leave a donation (cash or contactless). The car park is a decent size but gets busy from around midday. It's pay and display, you can use the machines or the RINGO app. The museum is very well kept, lovely lighting, big high glass ceilings. Plenty of historic items to see. Cafe and shop inside.

This is an amazing place: Sir William Burrell (1861-1958) was born into wealth but was a fabulously successful businessman in his own right. However, what makes him exceptional is his exquisitely refined taste in the arts. Sir William collected the best examples of multifarious art genres and historical artefacts. There is nothing quite like it elsewhere on our planet. Every visitor who leaves artistically and spiritually enlightened is further testimony to this wonderful historical figure.

The Burrell Collection is one of the best museums in Glasgow. It houses the art collection of Sir William Burrell and Constance, Lady Burrell. The museum reopened on 29 March 2022 with free entry, having been closed for refurbishment since 23 October 2016. Great place to visit alone or with families. The decorations are amazing. It contains many historical things, painting, carpets, status, and many others. There are many staffs that help and explain many things to visitors. Highly recommended.

What a wonderful time we had at the Burrell Collection. It’s wonderfully airy so you don’t get sleepy while walking around due to lack of circulation. The facilities are ample and modern. The building is aesthetic so it’s a joy to take photographs. There are many boards so you learn a lot while just walking about. The people are so friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to point to in the right direction or have a chat about the work.

The Burrell collection has got to be one of the best collections of artifacts I have seen. Once you arrive you are greeted by friendly staff who are very helpful on giving me information about the layout. The building is maintained in the highest standards right down to the toilets. There is a cafe which I did not have the chance to try out. The artifacts and paintings blew me away there was so much to see and well presented. There is parking outside which cost me 2.90 but that was a few hours stay. Definitely add this to your visit list.

1st time visiting for me and wasn't disappointed. Absolutely amazing place, best museum and art gallery have ever been to. Building is massive situated in beautiful country park surroundings. Has three floors with both stair and lift access. Is cafe/toilet's on ground floor and picnic rooms on 2nd floor.

Unmissable highlight of any visit to Glasgow. The revamped Burrell won museum of the year in 2023. It's not that easy to get to without a car as it's situated in the middle of the enormous Pollock Park. I cycled and the cycle routes from central Glasgow are fantastic. The collection itself is amazing containing several masterpieces. The museum itself is beautiful and has a good cafe as well as an indoor picnic area. The staff were wonderfully helpful.

I'm not understanding how most new art galleries feel that the further apart and less art there is, the more modern and important they are.

Recently re-opened after a major refurbishment, the museum is in Pollock Park which now has a one way system, to get to the museum car park you enter by the Pollockshaws Road entrance. There is more car parking than there used to be and judging by how full it was on the day we visited that is a good thing, you need to pay for car parking, the museum as all Glasgow Museums is free to enter. Although the car park was busy inside the museum it was not overly crowded as the visitors just wandered around and viewed the exhibits in the order that they came to them. The enclosed exhibits were the ones that were slightly crowded but that was not really a problem. The architecture and construction of the building is still quite magnificent and the sculpture, art works , knickknacks and collections are still very interesting and informative and there seems to be much more to see and more for children to do. The cafe / restaurant is as it always was very crowded. There is a small franchise coffee shop at the entrance that serves good coffee and a small selection of snacks and cakes. This museum is well worth a visit as it is an integral part of Glasgow's history and culture.

An interesting collection of artefacts and exhibits in a beautiful, purpose-built building. There isn't a huge amount for children to do here but, as an adult, I can not fault the information on offer. The tours are very good as well. NOTE: It is currently closed for refurbishment.

An eclectic private art collection housed in a modern museum with a very peculiar approach. Artworks are mixed and matched and presented with thought provoking paragraphs. Understanding the details of what you see is less important than having a debate on the essence of the art presented. A refreshing approach set in a rather family friendly way. The many video essays accompanying stand out art pieces are surprisingly well done and a delight to watch. The entrance to the museum is free, it is situated in an expansive park, it offers great food and snacks and makes overall for a great half day excursion.

MATE! What a collection of magnificence. Walking through this place, as with many museums, is like sliding through the sands of time. I absolutely loved being here with the knights outfits, a massive intricately carved fountain, the reassembled Chambers of the families Old castle and just exquisite pieces of work that have come from all throughout history!!! Just fantastic. 🤌

Wonderful collection of intriguing & mesmerising pieces spanning all parts of the globe. The building itself is so modern but sympathetic to its woodland park surroundings, surprising it was built in the 70’s! BIG shout out to Abbey who despite her short time there KNEW her stuff! She crammed in so much history about the Burrell family & their history as well as non museum chat. I’d actually seek her out as a guide on my next visit. And you will need a few visits! Some great photo Oppertunities for light/shadow and pattern play. Descriptions are basic, decent sized font and touch screens are a nice modernisation for kids and adults. Good amount of seating is dotted around. Definitely very wheelchair friendly. Nice large communal cafe with little booths. Despite being crowded & quite noisy in areas, service was fast and attentive. Soup, panini, and scones were lovely. Large selection of cakes which are out in the open. I am immuno suppressed so can’t eat open air food. I asked if there were any cakes in the kitchen and again HUGE points scored when I was offered fresh baked ones without judgement. Quick browse in the gift shop revealed some nice items. Also seen stations with kids activities. You could easily come to wander or just to read a book or for a cafe after a park walk. Please leave a donation if possible-the staff & venue really are more than worth it.

Recently refurbished this is a beautiful example of a modern architectural museum in a park. The refurbishment has resulted in many light filled spaces connecting more intermittent galleries. Corridors and windows frame views of the surrounding landscape adding to the sense of an open free flowing building in a park. It is easy to spend hours wandering this interesting collection.

First time visiting this lovely collection! We will be back to check it out again as in sure we missed some of the amazing items - Good family day out 😁 Checked out the cafe too but it's a bit of the steep side for mediocre items - personal preference here The lemon cake was delicious though 🍋 Lots of work has been put in to the refurbishment and it clearly shows 🙌🏻

Spacious and relaxing exhibition spaces showing a fantastic collection. I would like to see more detailed interpretation panels though, with more description for some items. The restaurant was a bit chaotic for some in the group. Complimentary WiFi in the museum is a bonus too.

Great gardens and grounds for a day out with the family. Some fantastic highland cows, is a must see. Parking cost £2:50 for 4 hours. Restaurant is lovely to but can take your own pack lunch. The Burrell art collection is amazing with 9000 piece to look at.

I had really fond memories of this place from my childhood, but when I returned in the late summer of 2016, I was sad to see that the building is in disrepair. I think it's now closed for refurbishment. There's a really interesting collection. I love being able to look through the big glass windows to the forest beyond.

This is the most eclectic collection of historic pieces I've ever seen under one roof. Not only this, but these items located in this building are all from one man's personal estate. The fascinating collection seen is just a minute bit of how many wonderful artefacts that this man had in his home. I believe currently there are 4000 stunning relics where, in fact, he collected roughly 9000 or more in total. This is a must-see museum. Free entry.

This world-class museum & art gallery has been improved greatly through careful thought and application - well done to all involved 👏🙂 What I love most is how the interpretation panels give a wider context to many objects and include social commentary from local people. This is also more inclusive for people on very limited budgets thanks to free entry & a picnic area to bring your own food. Excellent signposting and a free map help you find your way. There are also free tours regularly announced. Coffee bar & restaurant are excellent and good value with friendly, helpful staff & delicious produce. Parking can be paid by cash or Ringgo. Lots of walks in the extensive grounds of Pollok Park, well-signed, though watch out for cyclists using the national cycleways. Two possible areas for improvement: - Non-English language support for overseas visitors could be better - announcements were just in English, but other major languages could be recorded & played or automated (Google Translate) and the great multilingual video screens only prompt touching them in English. A pointing finger would be multilingual. - In the restaurant a sign needs to indicate you can order at any till point - we're all so used to one-way queueing systems that wasn't absolutely clear. Otherwise, this is a perfect art venue beautiful in design & contents, well run by good people. A pride of Glasgow and Scotland, it is world-class and an essential for anyone visiting Glasgow or Scotland.

One of my favourite museum experiences ever. The collection itself is impressive in scope, quality, and presentation. The building interior spaces are gorgeous but even better is the way it is enhanced by the surrounding nature, with tons of natural light and beautiful wooded areas visible from the tall windows. They have several fun multimedia experiences designed for children too, which makes it so much easier for adults to enjoy the collection while their kids learn and are entertained. The outdoor areas surrounding the collection are also superb with a huge lawn for activities or relaxing, a fun sand play area that our kids absolutely love, and a nearby play park with great equipment. Bonuses for being free and having an excellent gift shop. The restaurant cafeteria was nothing special, but I don't go to museums for the food so that's not a big deal.

Amazing! Leave your coat/bag at reception (guys at the desk were lovely!). The building is modern/recently refurbished - it felt amazing walking through all the different parts. I wish I had more time to read about all the items on display. At about 11am there were some school kids (so it got a bit loud).

This is an outstanding collection of antiquities and more recent artworks covering a wide range of subject matter. Enjoyed the free entrance and tour by a qualified guide. I have been going to museums since I was a boy. This is by far the coolest museum I have ever been to and it was FREE admission. Loads of ancient swords and suits of armor. Egyptian stuff and one of their more famous pieces, The Thinker.

One of the more impressive galleries/museums I have visited in the UK, the interactive parts actually work and everything appeared very well looked after. Plenty of staff around. I walked through the park to Pollokshaws West train station just after the sun started setting and arrived at the station as it was dark - I would not like to leave it much later as the path is not very well lit and gets muddy in the rain, and there was nobody else walking around as well (seems most people drive).

Items are presented effectively in beautiful surroundings, with nature peeking through the window walls. The building is spectacular with even the gift shop being worth your while.

  • 5/5 Oli S. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely fantastic. Beautifully situated in the middle of Pollok Park, big glass windows throughout the gallery give the collection a truly unique backdrop. Not that you'll be looking out there much with all the fascinating things on display inside. We managed to get onto one of the free tours led by Morna which was an absolute highlight of our trip. We learned a lot about the collection as well as the man who brought it all together and she highlighted several truly fascinating items that we'd otherwise have just walked past. If you're in Glasgow or planning to visit, you absolutely must come here.

A lovely peaceful place to spend a morning or afternoon. There were lots of interesting pieces to learn about and the building is beautiful. They also have a cafe and gift shop with lovely gift ideas. I will be back.

Free to enter and an interesting mix of traditional and modern building structures in which the museum is housed. Lots of outside seating, a free electric bus to run you about the Park should you not be able or fancy walking the short distance to Pollock House. Dogs are not allowed inside the building so I dog sat in the car park. Be warned, paying by RingGo involves an additional payment of 40p on the £10 daily charge, no warning of that on any of the sign boards or on the Burrell Collection website. (Nice little earner!) No outdoor seating for refreshments so no chance of me having lunch with my wife and daughter. I'm told the Collection is worth seeing.

  • 5/5 E R. 8 months ago on Google
Fantastic collection of art which has been made more interactive and accessible since the refit. I particularly liked that there were places to sit and contemplate the contents without having to buy something. Saying that we were there for 4 hours - the queuing and ordering system in the main restaurant is truly shambolic (but the actual food once it arrived was perfectly nice), the espresso bar seems to have its act together though. NB the collection is free to visit but you do have to pay to park.

  • 4/5 Ben H. 1 year ago on Google
Largely a great gallery. Recently refurbished in a great way. Very friendly. Free! Restaurant was nice too. Only thing I disliked is the lighting some of the artworks are very poorly lit and cast in shadow. Plus I dislike a lot of the way some of the labels are written. I prefer them just to describe the pieces. I don’t need them to say ‘look at the way so and so is smiling what could they be smiling about?’. It’s so subjective and leaves me cold

Brilliant. The whole history of Scotland is played out here. Real shame it closed down. And for FOUR YEARS no less. What kind of building takes four years to renovate? I mean they built the Burj Khalifa in 5 years... and that's an 828 meter tall super-skyscraper. O well... still gets 5 from me. Hope when it re-opens it will be even better.

I would highly recommend the Burrell Collection, situated in the lovely Pollok Park (woodland tracks and a chance to see Highland Cows and deer). A beautifully curated collection with a variety of different items and varied artwork (paintings, tapestry, sculpture, stained-glass windows ..... ). Accessible building with a cafe, cloakroom etc. Joined a free tour (with guidr Mitchell) for approx. 1hr which was excellent - a detailed and personal exploration of some of the items in the collection. Unbelievable that this is free and well worth a trip out of your way to see.

The Burrell museum was always a favourite of mine, but now that it's had a multi million pound makeover it's better than ever. One of the best museums in Glasgow and it's in one of the best parks in Europe. Spend the whole day here and it still wouldn't be enough time to see everything that The Burrell, Pollok House & Pollok estate have to offer. A must visit when in Glasgow....Oh! and don't forget the Highland coo's as well...🙂

A lovely day out... We enjoyed a walk around the park and then a browse through the collection. On a nice day, the park just beautiful and the interiors of the collection are stunning. Particularly the stained glass windows. The inside of the collection is well spaced out (It was easy to walk around the museum with the pram) and is in a beautifully designed building that lets in lots of natural light while it's there and additional light when needed. Oh yeah, and the best bit! It's free!

What an amazing surprise!!! One of the best museums we have ever been in, and we visited quite a lot): the collection is beautiful, the space large and light, the interactive boards make the pieces of art more comprehensive, and there are interactive boards for the kids. You'll find pieces of art from Antique Egypte to Rodin sculptures, going through Chinese Antique sculptures, ancient glass windows full of colors... Restaurant is nice and light as well, large choice. Free milk and tap water. Surrounded by the beautiful, big and clean Pollock Country Park. A must!!! Count the whole day in. Renovation seemed to have taken many years but the work was worst it!!!
