First time visiting the Barras. Good for a unique experience and definitely bargains to be had but i wouldn't take the family again. Thick skin required and the unfiltered behaviour of some people wasn't family friendly. Would recommend a wee visit but don't take the kids

We went late on a Sunday so unfortunately the stalls were starting to close, however, the stalls were beautiful! So much variety and such good prices. We missed half of the market and have said we will definitely go back on a Saturday morning. Take cash as most vendors are cash only

First time at the Barras and I loved it. It literally had everything with a mix of old stalls that sold retro, vintage items to modern, handmade stalls with the coolest items and everyone was chatty and so friendly. This place has a great vibe and I can't wait to go back.

I mean it's a super vintage and great bargain market. But there are A LOT OF STUFFS so I got a bit overwhelmed I guess 😂 Public bathrooms inside are super clean even though you will get 90's vibe - (which you are supposed to get because this place is quite old and they have kept up the vintage 😇💕) - don't expect automatic taps or flushes. I liked the sustainable fashion stalls - A TON OF ITEMS AVAILABLE - every single items were cool ✨ Can get a bit crowded during the weekends. You will even get food stalls inside 😋 Really (overwhelmingly) nice and vintage marketplace ☁️

Contacted the market several times via their website regarding our small business setting up a stall to which we got no reply at all. Says to wait up to two days for a reply, nothing yet after a week. Clearly they are doing so well they don't need the custom and can just ignore business enquiries...

Absolutely love the Barras! There is literally something for everyone. Here you find food, clothes, toys, antiques, furniture, memorabilia, crystals, art, interiors. Even if you're skint, just a walk round the market let's you inhale the culture.

It's sad watching the decline of a genuine Glasgow institution, went here as a kid with my mum and bro and sis and it was a great day out, all colourful characters and busy and vibrant, yup I get that things change but looks to me like the gentrifying effects of the artists moving in here are going to kill off the working class charm of the barras till all that is left is one of those plaques you see saying here was such and such a place. Used to love just wandering around the wee flea Market parts and seeing what weird stuff you could pick up, but that seems to be getting smaller and more neglected by the day. Also miss going to the big book market part that was had everything from new books to 70s pulp horror and sci-fi, comics and just about every true crime magazine ever published.

The Barras requires urgent investment mainly fake cigarettes tobacco and cds being sold there. Car boot sales are more attractive as car parking is more readily available. The Barras does not sell goods required by the average customer, looks run down and dilapidated... quite 😥.

Was very excited to visit. Hadn't been since I was a child. Delighted to find there was still a good mixture of old and new goods but now augmented by greener and handmade goods. Not much in the way of vegan food but very friendly and fascinating.

Lots of stalls and a huge variety of things a lot more homecraft which is good. Also the beautiful building its self. A true famous landmark of the Scotland and the rest of the world

Great wee market, runs Saturday and Sunday only. Lots of bargains to be had, new and old, also, a good few antique markets and stalls. Mostly really friendly stall holders too, and not too pushy either. Best to head in early if you want to get round it as stall holders start packing up around 15:00-16:00.

Ye olde market experience - it used to be awash with "backup" software and DVDs, bootlegs, console chipping places, TV sender boxes to transmit cable signal to a second TV set and people trying to flog dodgy cigarettes.... Thats to say there used to be a reasonable amount of stuff in legal gray areas. These days the rise of online piracy has probably reduced the amount of all of that but I dare say there will still be some underground stuff around. By and large nowadays it's mostly antiques and a few of the little market stall type businesses are surviving. I've rated it 5 star mostly as it's an essential part of the Glasgow experience. Money in inside pockets though - be streetwise and cautious of pick pockets etc. Oh and whilst there will be food on offer...I would personally avoid it if you don't want the runs.

Wow what a find when we visited our daughter in the east end of Glasgow. This market has something for everyone, from utter tat to fascinating collectables and everything in between. Bigger than it looks, shall have to go back as im sure we missed a bit!

Canni beat the barras!! If you are passing through Glasgow, it is a landmark and it is well worth stopping by. Open Saturdays and Sundays, it will surely entertain you: finding lots of things, talking to extravagant personalities, a psychic will read your soul card, coffee shops and restaurants. All in walking distance from the trongate and the city center.

It used to be a truly wonderful market, far larger than it is now. Full of character, a vast array of objects to peruse from old coins and medals to butchers wares, clothes and oddities such as grandfather clocks. Most of it is now closed and stalls that remain amongst the empty ones are somewhat lifeless or selling junk left behind by abandoned stalls. Gentrification in motion with restaurants, bars and amenities creeping in. The barras as I knew it has long gone.

It's a shadow of its former self with a few hidden gems. I really love what the market was and is becoming the artist center in the middle has some great events and the little antiques market in the corner is a must see for any collectors. Overall a great quick visit for anyone visiting Glasgow but I really wish it to become the bustling trading hub it once was!

Flea market, with very few high quality items. Worth going if you have never to a flea market or don't have one in your home country.

  • 5/5 Morag M. 1 year ago on Google
Mix of the old and the new. Great wee stalls and people. Hadn't been for years and loved spending time milling around and picked up some lovely goodies. Worth a visit!

  • 3/5 Isabel M. 1 year ago on Google
Still some interesting stalls to browse. Interesting military memorabilia area with cafe. All in all an interesting trip.

  • 5/5 David K. 1 year ago on Google
The new and improved barras. I hadn’t been here for over a year. It was a shadow of itself and now it is full of stalls and I’d imagine back to the way it was years ago. Plenty a bargains and worth a visit 👍🏻

  • 5/5 Bobby R. 1 year ago on Google
This place is brilliant as if you looking for sum thing your parents or even your grandparents one of the stall holders will have it or know sum one who has it and if you have time it's worth a wonder around as every body is so nice and friendly so do your self a favor get up early and go

Good market to walk through if you are looking for a bargain. It has seen some improvements over the years and there are far more independent creators, artists and sellers at The Barras now, too. Could definitely use sprucing up to make it look less drab though!

  • 4/5 Berk B. 7 months ago on Google
I could spend my entire money in this place… great for the collectors. However, improvement needed for lots of areas.

  • 4/5 Peter F. 7 months ago on Google
Great to see new life in the place, plenty of new craft stalls alongside the traditional market. Come along and support independent businesses and keep this iconic place alive.

  • 5/5 Gabriel G. 5 months ago on Google
Extremely good, varied market. The variety and scale of it all is exactly what we like to see at a market. In order to give the entire thing a fair shot, it really requires the entire day to look around. There's a fair share of rubbish stalls selling cheap low quality clothes etc, but the majority of rooms and stalls sell really interesting new/vintage/antique things, among all the food and knick knack places.

  • 5/5 Robert C. 10 months ago on Google
The Barras Market has over the past few months made big changes . There are many great new stalls. The food served is brilliant. An all round family day out. You never know who will turn up. Peter Capaldi did last week.

  • 3/5 Nathaniel B. 10 months ago on Google
Mostly undesirable garbage or sun-faded new things. Best part (and most entertaining) is Randall’s spooky section.

  • 5/5 Rhianne C. 1 year ago on Google
The most weird and wonderful place I've ever visited! It's certainly not a high class market but it does have a whole lot of charm. There's everything you could think of from antiques, to dvds, to amazing independent artists stalls. Maybe not for everyone but I loved it

  • 2/5 Lorraine B. 1 year ago on Google
Busy, stalls not much to look at, disappointed

  • 2/5 Alan M. 1 year ago on Google
Just to be transparent, this is not a review of the barras but a specific event that was on. Not much to say, was looking forward to the Chinese weekend. Queued for 45 mins to get in and be told there was no food left. Good idea but a total shambles to be honest. Would be better to extend it to be bigger and have more stalls, the area was tiny. If it is on again I'll try and hopefully next time it will get 5 stars

  • 4/5 Cora A. 1 year ago on Google

Iconic Glasgow Market. This is a great place to visit as a resident or a tourist. A resident might find all sorts of useful bits and pieces, from homewear to clothes, to bicycles and antiques. All at reasonable prices. For a tourist it's a chance for proper immersion in every-day Glaswegian culture. Always worth a little walk around!

  • 5/5 Matt P. 1 year ago on Google
A great place to visit. Lots of new mixed in with the old now. And plenty of places to pick up a nice snack.

  • 2/5 S G. 1 year ago on Google
This market was so sadly disappointing. I was on the hunt for a specific type of garment but pretty much everything there seemed like old used up junk. Not the “vintage goods” I was hoping for.

  • 4/5 James S. 1 year ago on Google
Always something to see, some stalls you can tell house clearance, last visit, someone's model train engine collection, just all thrown in a box, makes you think about your own possessions.

  • 4/5 Debbie D. 1 year ago on Google
Not as good as it used to be, still get a bargain though, friendly place as its always been

Glasgow at its best. Gentrification is heading there rapidly but it still has its old charm Well worth a visit

  • 3/5 Dan M. 3 years ago on Google
The place to get cheap foreign cigarettes and tobacco, dinky doughnuts, morning rolls with a hot cuppa tea. Great for photos & real east end vibes just a short stroll from city centre.

  • 4/5 Rod G. 3 years ago on Google
Undercover market within walking distance of Merchant City in Glasgow. Lots and lots of qwerty, vintage and one off antiques. It was apparent the market is going through a very hard time, some of the market stalls are no longer trading (since before the pandemic). There is lots of on the road parking available nearby, step free. Make sure you bring cashas there is not card payments options in any of the market stalls. Family friendly, great coffee shop inside the market, perfect for a fun day out

  • 5/5 Цветелина . 3 years ago on Google

  • 3/5 Stephen S. 3 years ago on Google
Unfortunately this is in massive decline and a good part of it due to enforced gentrification. Still a few characters here but way too many of the I am superior types.
