Any one interested in Welsh, Scottish and Viking history should visit this place. It remarkably stood surrounded by ship yards holding on to it's great historical treasures and is now unearthing even more. A church has been here since the fifth century and long may it go on. Make sure you use one of the guides their fantastic.

I would highly recommend visiting this site with such a rich and ancient history. Scott the tour guide was informative, engaging and brought the story of the "Govan stones" alive. Particularly recommend a visit if interested in Scottish/ Viking / early Christian history all in the setting of beautiful church.

Govan Parish Church has an amazing collection of historically important and ancient stones dating back thousands of years. The stones give a great insight into ancient times in the Strathclyde area. The guides are very friendly and informative and greatly add to the visit. Admission is free and is well worth a visit.

This wasn't our day, finding ourselves at a loose end near Govan we decided to visit here, but it closes at 430pm, it's a summer day, how can it close so early? They should be trying to attract more tourists. Anway a very picturesque church in a nice churchyard. It should be noted that Govan before its industry was a town independent from Glasgow and mostly idyllic and pastoral

I love the history of Govan Old Parish Church, the dates on lots of the Gravestones are from hundreds of years ago and the ancient stones they have in the Church are just amazing. Its great to go into the Church, its such a beautiful place, makes me so happy we have all this history on our doorstep, I've took my grankids to Open Days in it, they also loved seeing the old stones too. Great place

A hidden gem. The Govan Stones collection housed in the church offers a fascinating glimpse into early Scottish history, as well as the impact of the vikings on local communities. Furthermore, the church itself is highly architecturally significant, and you can learn more about both its history, and that of the parish, inside.

A hidden gem. Typical Victorian church with relatively modern but elaborate stained glass windows. Main attraction is the Viking sarcophagi found nearby. Background info on display or from volunteers. Only opens after 1 o'clock. Handy for picturesque tiny free Govan Ferry that goes to Riverside Museum. Graveyard also worth wandering round. Close to buses and Underground station, and local Govan worthies.

A beautiful gothic church, well kept, with well preserved Viking and medieval carved stones inside. Lovely ladies welcoming you at the entrance and helping you with any enquiry.

If you're into your history, this is well worth a visit: one of the UK's most significant collections of early medieval sculpture - crosses, hogbacks and a remarkable sarcophagus), well presented and with helpful explanatory panels, and friendly and knowledgeable volunteers to hand; you can stroll by the river after your visit, too. Deserves to be better known.

Excellent artwork and architecture. This beautiful church on the river in Govan is dedicated to King Constantine a.k.a. Saint Constantine who is also depicted on some of the colorful stained glass windows. It’s mainly known for the carved Celtic and Viking “hogback” stones that came from the ancient cemetery that surrounded the church thousands of years ago. Entry is by donation.

Don't miss this if you visit Glasgow! Scott the historian was extremely knowledgeable and gave us a personalized tour and answered all our questions. It's an absolutely beautiful and unique church with a special history and stained glass at eye-level to enjoy all the details. The Govan stones and sarcophagus are a wonderful bonus. It's also only a short walk from the subway.

A hidden gem in Glasgow but worth visiting for its importance in Glaswegian history before there even was a Glasgow, or Scotland. Impressive ancient relics, knowledge guides, and a shop with unique gifts. Go pay them a visit! It's free!

A world-class collection of beautifully-presented Early Medieval stone sculpture set within a churchyard that, almost incredibly, seems to preserve its original ancient shape.
