We looked for a place for a nice walk with our dog. Some place nice, green and quiet. Found this park here online and thought it looked promising. Came by car. Only a 40 minute drive from our BnB. Plenty of parking at the visitors centre at the main entrance. Free of charge. And no charge to enter the park as well. There are some shops, a coffee shop, a garden center, arts & crafts, toilets, a playground. Lots to do. There are several paths leading you through the big grounds of this park. Some very easy and flat. Some more narrow and a bit wet after rainy days. Bring some good shoes to be sure. We loved walking around the park with our English Bulldog. Lots of other furry friends to meet here. And a lot less visitors than one might expect. A first highlight is the Craigend Castle. Or more like what remains of it. Now nature is taking it back and it's fenced off. Some part of me would love to see it restored. Bought I also understand that they like to keep it this way. Let nature take it back for a living place for various animals. Then Mugdock Loch is another highlight. Walk around this beautiful quiet little Loch. Plenty of photo ops and benches for a picnic. The Loch is also the place where you will find the Mugdock Castle. Some really nice remains. Very fun to explore. With tables to make a picnic. A really nice little castle. We very much enjoyed our day here. Follow the map and the paths. Or just start walking and let yourself get lost a little. Surprisingly it's free...something that wouldn't be possible in my country. Not an impressive park of this size with so much to see. A lovely place.

A beautiful day out did a figure 8 around the reservoirs with the dogs(about 5k) total. Clean, stunning scenery and great for the dogs. Easy walk too. Could be done with kids/ bikes and scooter etc

We went to the loch. Water was generally warm (on the hottest day of the year, I've not been here before so I can't compare it to other days). Generally not deep. Makes for a good swim/sup board session. Beautiful setting with hills in the background and a popular place. The actual car park is a couple of miles from the loch, though people drive up the road and park on the verge. This seems acceptable but it gets busy along the verge so just be aware of this.

Expansive estate/park on the outskirts of Glasgow. Great for families/kids and dog walkers. Well kept paths through the park. Car park can get busy and some folk park on the road running alongside. Had a nice cafe and well kept clean toilet facilities. Also a Garden centre in the grounds.

Beautiful county park, could explore for hours on end. Plenty of walking paths. There is water with ducks, a castle ruins too. Nature is beautiful. Kids play park and adventure area. Gift shop next to the cafe. Would definitely recommend checking it out 🌳🌼 There is also a fairy trail to follow 🧚🧚🏾‍♂️

My only disappointment is that we didn't have enough time to explore the whole park! To do so would probably require an entire weekend. So much to do in one country park and absolutely stunning surroundings. So many nature trails and old castles & ruins you could easily & gladly get lost! Book the BBQs ahead to avoid disappointment (using website or visitor centre) Oh and don't swim in the lochs. Beautiful magical place, you can really feel the history here. We didn't even get to see half of it and so we intend to go back and see the rest! Would definitely recommend for a day out. Enjoy

Picturesque big country park with facilities open again (you can't beat the smell of burgers/square sausage coming out the vent at the back of the cafe...). Great walks and great play park for younger ones.

So many paths to follow and all very well maintained. Nice visitor centre with snacks and drinks available. Castle. Children's play area. Various car parks but it's also a relatively easy walk from Milngavie town centre.

A very sunny day but chilly at 3°C! Despite hundreds if people the park is big enough and there's 3 car parks around the perimeter (even though some park on the narrow lane). We love the cafe at the north end, the walks, lakes and woods and the children enjoy each visit.

A wonderful place...suitable for all ages.

Jean and I have been here many years ago and never realised that it had so many car park area's. It is a lovely park with so much space to wander around with the hills in the background, the visitor centre has a great deal to offer when needing a break from walking. So get out and enjoy the experience of Mugdock Park with suitable footwear.

In terms of choices of walks this place is great. Brilliant for kids, dogs and even OAPs (Nice wee Cafe/Garden Centre and lots of properly pathed walks). Can be quite busy during peak times but the more you go the easier it is to find all the different car parks, some are hardly ever used.

Fantastic place to lose yourself on the trails on foot and on bicycle, lose yourself in conversation with friends or family whilst in nature. From what I remember there are 2 kids park areas, a BBQ/picnic area and plenty to see in the way of old buildings, water features and various elevation changes through the various routes. The visitor centre has a lovely coffee shop and a great wee tuck/roll shop which sells ice cream too. It has been busier since COVID hit and for good reason - it's the perfect place for stress relief and to get out in the open after being cooped up. I feel the morning sun is always nicest and it's a good idea anyway to get there before 11am, due to the busy nature of the place. After then the car parks are filling up. Despite this, there is plenty of ground to put between you and any other visitors, so doesn't feel as busy once past the initial bustle of the visitor centre and kids sections

A lovely place to visit. It is very popular with dog owners. Please keep your dogs on the lead if they can not be controlled. We had an unfortunate incident with a dog knocking my toddler down to the ground. There are two castles worth visiting on site.

Been here twice now for walks and a picnic. Very convenient by train to Milngavie if you don't mind a walk, and seemed like plenty of parking if you'd like to drive. Two castles and a lake, a garden centre, restaurant, playground all provide lots to do for families, and plenty of open space to have a ramble, walk a dog, take in the sights, etc. Beautiful views of the Campsies and over the Clyde valley from the open field west of Mugdock Castle.

I really enjoyed exploring this park with my daughter. We had done the first stretch of the West Highland Way, but I hadn't realised this park was right next door. The castle was very interesting and the facilities at the visitor's centre we're good too. Because there are so many different paths you almost feel like you have the park to yourself. Also, there was a wide range of mushrooms growing in different woodland areas.

Great for families, dog walkers and folk who just want to have a nice long walk. Beautiful Loch and visitor centre. The castle ruins are well worth a visit too ! Just a short drive north of Glasgow so very accessible:)

Beautiful country park with several walks and castles. It is lovely to visit the ruins of Mugdock Castle. Not my fav in Glasgow surroundings but worth the visit.

Lovely park / area to walk around, especially with the dogs. Lots of different walks and well marked trails. Noticed a lot of dogs off lead which can lead to issues, especially with irresponsible owners. Restroom facilities could do with being refreshed, but overall it's a great escape just outside the city. Would also recommend the reservoir walk, followed by a trip to Vivi & Co for a bite to eat (dog friendly).

My first time visiting - parked near caulders. Got a coffee from the wee coffee shop (and a brownie) enjoyed a lovely walk around Mugdock with our dog who enjoyed it too. There are public toilets in the courtyard as well as some shops (food and souvenir) Dog walkers - there are plenty of paths and poo bins. We met some horses on our walk so be aware of that. A bit of a journey to get there along a single track road but worth it. Will be back again.

Very nice park and lots to explore! Great for a walk along with interesting ruins. It’s also very easy to get to from Glasgow with only a train to Milngavie. Would definitely recommend especially for a day out with families and friends.

Brilliant park, staff have put a lot of work into clear social distancing measures. Shame many of the public ignore very clear directions to detrimemt of others.

Lovely natural park. Very large with a wide variety of different walks throughout. Free entry so can’t complain about some of the nice to halves you get in some National Trust parks.

Great place to explore the park. Lots of paths and historical buildings to see all for free. I cycled around the place with a friend and had a good range of paths with stunning views of lakes and hills. Some steep paths to climb but a great downhill ride from there. Plenty of places to park too. Would definitely go back again.

Escape the isolation Spend some time strolling through the park, sitting by the lake or feeding the birds and squirrels. One of the best places near Glasgow to relax, away from the overcrowded Botanic gardens, a patch of green wonder.

Lovely park with plenty of different walks and two food areas at the lodge and garden centre.Main disappointment was with some walkers who ignored social distancing entirely and the rest of us had to step aside as they took over the paths.Ignorance.
