This is an urban park near the west end of Glasgow. It has lots of trails to explore and is home to flocks of wild parakeets. No one is quite sure where they came from. There are many species of trees and plants and other wildlife to spot. It is a good place for foraging and bushcraft. A lot of the trails are suitable for prams and bicycles. It can be very muddy both off and on the pathways in the winter. Easily accessible by road from various locations and by bike along the Kelvin Walkway. The park skirts along the edge of the River Kelvin at some points. In years gone by there was a paper mill on the banks at Dawsholm bridge. This is long gone but some traces still exist, if you look hard enough you can find an old cable car stop. It is a very popular spot with local families, outdoor groups and dog walkers. Please note overnight camping is not allowed in public parks. My photos are day shelters only.

Fantastic country park style space in the city. Nice walks along the river or up through the woods. A few new benches added in the last couple of years giving some nice spots to chill out. No facilities but wouldn't expect any here.

We had never gone to this park before, it's nice, clean, quiet, with a river and beautiful trees. Then we stumbled on a Spring party, with music, dances, songs and games! We'll go again.

Pleasant park, usually not too crowded. Some lovely big old trees and river, it's not as manicured and sterile looking as some of the city parks, which is exactly why I much prefer it.

Great place for doggy walkers ,exotic bird fliers, cyclists outdoor nurseries and Heilan Coos! Fabulous green space ,with wild parakeets flying amongst the trees. Great walking paths and areas with picnic tables amongst the trees. . On our most recent walk we met Diego the Macaw out for some flying excercise whilst his owners cycled. This open parkland is situated in the West End periphery. The nearest train station for non cyclists /car drivers is Kelvindale. This is just a few hundred yards away.Visitors ! Please be aware. There are no toilet facilities within Dawsholm Park. This is the reason why this lovely, useful park has not been given 5 ******'s Still well worth a wee visit

Always love visiting here. A forestry river and country feel so close to the city. Getting work done to improve areas at the mo and also quite muddy in places that make it difficult to navigate but all in all well worth a visit.

Love coming here to walk the dog, it’s one of the few places we can let him off the lead as there are no roads anywhere near the park. Although he does occasionally get spooked by the crashing at the dump next door. This is a lovely walk with large grassy areas to frisbee a dog, or little Forrest paths to get lost in.

Nice local park. Its a great place to take my dog for long walks and I enjoy the scenery. Well maintained for the most part.

Far too many commercial dog walkers frequent here and not cleaning up the mess left from the dogs they are looking after.

Really nice that they are modernising parts of the park, the stairway down to the canal from the bridge is beautiful, putting benches there is a great move too, the little one was a bit overdressed for fishing thoughπŸ˜‚.

Lovely walk, has great benches to sit n enjoy the views.

  • 4/5 Clare M C. 2 years ago on Google
It looses a star due to the large amount of litter around the entrance (it's next to the recycle centre). However it has a great diversity of bird life, plant and insect life and nice walks along the river. If you want to see beautiful ring necked parrots this is the place they nest. (Note: May not be safe place at night).

Calm and serene walking paths. There is a River Clyde flowing by adding to beautiful Nature sounds

Lovely park, very beautiful and scenic walks. My only complain would be I always seem to encounter people with off lead dogs with no recall. Not great with my old deaf and nearly blind dog Obviously not a problem with the park itself! Really good to spend a few hours exploring.

Lovely park. It's a bit wilder than most, bring boots. Because of this, there are a lot of birds. Very popular with dog walkers.

A little forest oasis of winding paths and riverside walks in the west end of Glasgow with easy connection to the Kelvin walkway and WOS Science Park. Less crowded than the Kevin Grove or Botanics and good for cycling, walking and picnic.

Nice views depending what direction you're facing, was a decent walk through just a shame the locals don't appreciate having the space they do

Great for dogs off lead, big grassy areas at the enterance. Best to go early morning or after 4pm if you want a quiet walk when all the dog walkers have left as it's a popular spot.

  • 5/5 Steven R. 3 years ago on Google
Great park for a walk with the kids or the dogs. More nature park than fun park. Great place for practicing bushcraft or spotting wildlife. Beautiful place to walk in the sun or rain ?

  • 5/5 Douglas P. 4 years ago on Google
wonderful wilderness in the city, now being beautifully developed with new paths.

Creepy woods im now avoiding for my own safety. Watch out for the drunk neds and junkies under the bridge. Otherwise would be a lovely place to walk and spot nature. Spoiled by the 'locals'.

Great early morning walk, when NO packs of dogs on the loss ,and if the drinkers would take the rubbish to the bins.???

Nice wee park, with lots of little paths for a walk/jog or a picnic, along part of the river Kelvin! There was even a pair of otters fighting over an eel spotted here recently (early am & with binoculars!)
