Thoroughly enjoyed visiting and learning about the great adventurer and his team. The museum has been newly renovated and is fully accessible. Staff are available if you have any questions and there is interactive learning along the way for the kids. Gift shop and cafe available after your experience. There is also a playpark outside for the kids and free parking.

Excellent museum, recently renovated. Interesting collection of items related to David Livingstone, Africa and the local area. Friendly staff who explained things along the route. The adjacent museum cafe was very good and we had a nice walk around the grounds. Parking free.

Had a great day here with my Sister. I saw this place advertised on TV and I had been here many years ago. It is much improved with a lot of interactive activities. A great place to take children. It is quite hard to find though and could do with more sign posting. The play park round about David Livingstone Centre is amazing for children. The museum itself is very informative and gives an account of his whole life which is really impressive.

Excellent museum chronicling the life of the missionary to Africa, Mr David Livingstone, with clean, calm and well-maintained grounds and interior spaces. Parking is free and once inside the museum, one will find well lit displays and welcoming and helpful staff members keen to provide guidance and adept at explaining things in more detail. A café is located adjacent to the main museum house and this is stocked with delightful cakes and serves various warm beverages. An excellent memorial to Mr. Livingstone and well worth recommending to visit for the whole family. It will be time well spent!

For any Malawian the David Livingstone Birrhplace is second home. We have Blantyre in Malawi because of its connection. A great place for scholars who want to know more about the early UK African relations, pre colonial dynamics and almost every topic be it religion, politics and power in modern day Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe and parts of Tanzania and Mozambique. Returning here, feels like going home. Warm and wonderful people. Nice cafe and a new exhibition !

I visited the David Livingstone Museum and had a fantastic experience. The staff demonstrated impressive knowledge, and their commitment to sharing the history of David Livingstone was evident. I appreciated the inclusion of David Livingstones Christian values and journey, adding a unique and meaningful dimension to the museum's atmosphere. Overall, a highly informative and spiritually enriching visit.

Recently visited with family and found it very fascinating and eye opening. Glad to see other members of the team who worked with David Livingstone, get more recognition for their work! Loved the animated sculpture stories! Grounds are beautiful, cafe food was nice. Will go again one day.

Fun and educational. It's all ready to visit as the museum and house are currently now open for visiting. There has been a lot of investment in the place. It has disabled access to the museum now. As well as accessible parking. It has also had a completely new play park added to the grounds. As well as loads of new seating areas added all over the park, also areas with seating covered, that way you're able to nip out the rain showers. Also open is a new cafe for refreshments and the toilets are located here too. Entry to the park and parking , remains free of charge. The only cost for entry is into the museum, if you fancy it. Entry for adults is priced at £7.50.

We had some cake and coffee in the cafe, the coffee was great, but small cups for a latte. Didn’t visit the museum but we went on an adventurous walk along the Clyde… not bad at all, even the dumped cars were an interesting sight due to their extreme rusty state!! Lots of ancient archeological finds such as empty ‘Buckfast’ bottles! Lol it wasn’t too bad on the litter front to be fair, I’ve seen worse. The old building near the dismantled railway was also very colourful, the graffiti was competing with the spring blossoms such a enchanting juxtaposition 😆 - I would visit again, especially as we found the Blantyre Priory ‘Carvings’ - next time I’ll probably visit the museum too. The nearby pub was a welcome break after our ravine climbing expedition!

Tragically closed for the foreseeable future , in a rapidly downward spiral of decay and neglect . Worth a wander through the historic gardens overlooking the majestic river .Catch it while it's still exists as housing developments nibble its grounds . Local authorities hang your head in shame ?

Natural beauty and useful facilities. Great place to discuss the controversies. Robt Owen New Lanark nearby, urban dereliction all around, this park is a priceless lung. Regeneration is in hand, but has the exploitation ended yet?

Nostalgic visit as I had not been here since 1970. Same exhibits but the display was much enhanced. Great interactive elements for younger children. Wheelchair access throughout. I will be reading more about his life as a result of this visit. Good cafe facilities and children’s play area very close by, again disabled friendly very helpful staff and table service after ordering.

It has been updated since I was last there. But everyone who booked for 12 arrived at 12. Not very covid secure, queues of people trying to get through the first bit of the museum. Not ideal.

Really well done and excellent value with free coffee included in the cafe. Lots to see our 4 year old grandson loved the interaction exhibits and has been back since. Feel there could be a bigger play area outside given the amount of space. Pirate ship good but not enough to keep him busy for too long

The day that we were able to visit the grounds were open and I gather that the buildings had not been open for quite awhile. Closed for renovations? Walking the grounds gave you a good sense of living in the times of David Livingstone. What a peaceful place to just come walk, rest, read a book, relax.

David Livingston. Center is closed and there is nothing to inform you of this, so it was a waste of our time going there

  • 5/5 brian c. 4 years ago on Google
The Livingstone Centre always loomed large during my childhood , St Joseph's primary was just up the road and as kids we would often go there on school outings . I love the statue of Livingstone being mauled by the Lion , a bit of a gory subject, but one which shows the man's courage in exploring as it was known then " Darkest Africa . I also love it because it was designed by Ray Harryhausen whose wife was a descendant of Livingstone. Harryhausen's many wonderful stop - motion creatures appeared in some of the best fantasy movies of his time , Jason And The Argonauts being a firm favourite. The Livingstone centre is still a great place to visit for children and adults alike. The old dark room and statues add a certain old fashioned charm that seem to evoke the spirit of Livingstone himself. A lovely place and well worth visit .
