Attended a work Christmas party in the Glasgow Marriott and was throughly entertained. Lots of good energy and free flowing drinks. Food was of reasonable quality and the DJ was entertaining. Walkable from the city centre and venue wasn’t overly filled. Having been to a few of these events over the years this was easily one of the best.

Good location, not far from the city centre. Good and tasty breakfast. And that's it. We arrived late afternoon/early evening really, so we just went to the room, took a shower (the shower curtain beg to be replaced or at least washed) and run to explore the city, as we planned stay only 1 night/day. A/C same issue as everyone else, but that was okay. Very old decoration, but that's fine- we not gonna live there. Loud noise from the road as our room was just right next to it - accepted as we were knackered when we back to the room and we fell asleep. But in the 4 star hotel - no mini fridge and NO SMALL BOTTLE OF WATER??????!!!! NO ACCEPTABLE. My mistake that I didn't checked when we entered the room, but I would never expect that the drinking water will be missed.I was thirsty till the morning breakfast.I couldn't took my medication. I don't understand also - the kettle with plenty of instant coffee and tea's to choose, but the water from the tap in the bathroom???? In 4 star 🌟 hotel - you can find hair dryer, ironing board with iron, but you can not find a water of bottle. Very disappointed 😞 We moved to different hotel. We will not back there and not recommend to anyone. Sorry.

This hotel is great in size. They must be remodeling many rooms often. We were told that the first two rooms they were going to give us the air conditioning didn't work on the twelfth floor. So they gave us the room on the fifth floor with new carpet. It took them 30 minutes to find us a suitable room, causing us to nearly missing last call for the bar. It was definitely a new carpet with that strong oder. The toilet struggled to flush at first but finally worked when I turned the sink water on. It was a great view of the roadways.

Very nice hotel, gym needs more equipment. Please make sure when you pay for hotel get the receipt, because I paid full amount for my stay first day, and after I checked out and came back to my country the same amount was deducted from my account again, when I called them they apologised and they said money will be back in your account after 3 days, when money came to my account some money was deducted which is very unfair

Excellent location, a comfortable bed, everything you might need in the room, a swimming pool, and very friendly and helpful staff - what more could you ask for? Well, I'm personally a huge fan of hotels that offer a great breakfast and I was certainly not disappointed. Haggis (this was particularly good!), sausages, bacon, mushrooms, a choice of fried or scrambled eggs, mini croissants, danish pastries, and even the option of cranberry juice (as well as the standard apple and orange of course). Perfect start to the day.

Staff were really nice but hotel room was an absolute nightmare! We went springtime and it was boiling inside the room. When we requested to have the air conditioning checked, apparently they don’t have “air conditioning” and just relies on the weather from outside, sucking the air in and circulating it throughout the hotel, hotel staff’s words not mine. The only solution they could provide was a tiny fan. Definitely not worth the money we paid for. The only silver lining was the pool but even then it’s not very accessible for those with pram/wheechair due to all the stairs, you’d have to go outside to access the ramp and use the fire exit to get to the pool.

The highlights of the hotel are probably the on-site restaurant and car park. The bed was clean and comfortable (up to the general Marriott standards). Food and service at the on-site restaurant were pretty good and we enjoyed our dinner there. Parking was convenient which was a big reason for us to choose staying there. However, our room (Deluxe King) was quite small (comparing with other similar Marriott properties), with carpets showing obvious signs of wear and tear.

Perfectly pleasant and serviceable hotel - staff were kind and attentive, at the front and at breakfast, location is handy for the Hydro and for the city centre. Unfortunately, while the rooms are brilliantly clean, they have become a bit run down. Old aircon (loud even on the 'off' setting), lights gone a bit wonky, marks on the wall where the trouser press used to live. I'd stay again for the service and location, but you should know it might not be as modern as it's Courtyard cousin down the road! (Also, the M8 was the main view outside the room...)

Air con does not work at all any where in the hotel, spoke with a quite a few other guests as well and they said its the same with their rooms as well. Staff were very helpful and gave me fan. They showed me other rooms but I could tell AC was not working any where in the hotel. Hotel is situated very close to the city which is pretty handy and having an onsite parking is great. Other than the AC problem everything else is decent.

Visited whilst on work trip. Rooms are ideal. Function rooms are easily accessible. Bar good for quick meals. Restaurant good for breakfast or dinner. Easy access to airport or train stations

A/C out of service, hot stuffy rooms, dated decor, management missing in action According to their web site, the A/C is going through a major revamp the month of June, and out of service. Talk about terrible timing as summer season progresses!! From other reviews it seems like these A/C problems commenced in May and are ongoing for weeks, so this seems to be a lengthy unplanned and reactive situation. This makes for a very uncomfortable and aggravating situation to put it mildly, with hot humid stuffy rooms, particularly for south facing rooms and higher floors. All the hotel is doing in response is issuing electrical portable fans and verbal apologies to disgruntled clientele. No formal letter of apology or explanation from management, no attempt to compensate through discount or complimentary offering, absolutely nothing. The poor front line staff are getting the brunt from customers, and doing the best they can, while management seems missing in action. Not sure where they got their hospitality management training , if any. We made our reservation here at the recommendation of our cruise provider, which selected this hotel as their starting point for an upcoming cruise. Guess we should have done more due diligence ourselves - live and learn. It's a decent enough hotel aside from these serious A/C issues, but it also getting pretty dated and a bit shabby as noted by others. The pool and gym is only accessed in a bizarre fashion by having to go outside and around the building. On the positive side, we got good service and food in the bar/pub, and the breakfast self-service buffet was good. But the restaurant hours are very limited. The hotel is a convenient location for stop 9 of the hop on hop off bus, but so is the Hilton Glasgow which is located right behind the Marriott. The proper thing for management to have done under the circumstances at a minimum, given the nature and duration of the A/C issue, would have been to advise guests in advance, and to have given them the opportunity to book elsewhere. Given management's demonstrated performance on this matter, and the vague and weak responses offered here to critical reviews, I would not return in future, and would not recommend this location. The Hilton is a much newer hotel, updated and modern, and a much better choice than the Marriott.

Marrriot is always decent. The staff here, and particularly the reception side, were brilliant as we had a small issue and they sorted it almost instantly. The gym feels like a long way away but is incredibly well stocked. It is an actual gym not a little studio that pretends. Pool is more of a splash than for laps but serves its purpose.. Great staff good facilities and a decent breakfast..well done

Had a lovely 2 night stay here. The breakfast is all you would ever want from a hotel and the room service was very well priced. Room was clean with everything working well and the pool and sauna were quiet and well maintained. Well worth the price. Fantastic location too!

Attended conference at this hotel. Conference facilities very high quality with high levels of service and professional approach. Good, clean, conference room. Hotel location is decent; 5 minutes from Central and close to the motorway on-ramp. Hotel itself is 80s-tastic in appearance. Clearly a former Holiday Inn in a past life. Opened by Princess Margaret in 1982. Loss of a star overall for generally poor bar/lounge experience. Terrifically noisy space with loud music competing with incessant drilling. Difficult to follow conversations and not at all relaxing.

A somewhat worn facility in a good location at a good price relative to comparable local hotels. Rooms were clean and food service was excellent. Executive lounge was small, worn and had decent but limited amenities compared to other Marriott hotels.

Great distance from city centre. I went down to get some Christmas shopping. This hotel is much nicer than a lot I have stayed in and the staff were amazing. Very embarrassed to say that I could not get my wi-fi to connect and had to go to the front desk to ask for help. Then my iPad would not connect either! I was too embarrassed to go down with that so my friend did but the man called Yuannis at the front desk realised and said that there was no need to be embarrassed and if I needed anything else just ask. So friendly and polite.

Room was nice. We only stayed for the day because our accommodation wasn't ready for us to go into... The food on the other hand was very poor...it wasn't nice at all so my daughter spoke to the manager. We were not the one people that complained about the food that day. They did give us a refund on some of the food.

Like every visit it is the staff who make or break your visit. So you can guess from the star rating that they were excellent. They were quietly brilliant in the way they served, cleaned up and looked after us. I and a team from Scottishpower were the happy recipients of outstanding hospitality. Why can’t everyone else be like this.

I attended a wedding here and the staff were excellent. The room was huge and beautifully decorated. The food was superb. For a city centre hotel, parking was great and the charge was waived for wedding guests. All very clean, toilets, cloakroom, couldn't fault it at all.

Didn't stay. Just had a drink in the Fuelling Station hotel bar. Nice atmosphere. Very helpful staff but service a bit slow

  • 4/5 Glenn S. 1 year ago on Google
Excellent reception staff , warm welcome and service; likewise in the bar area however the breakfast set up needs improvement- no queue/seating organisation, the guy in charge was super stressed out and the dining area very messy. Unfortunately The air conditioning wasn’t working on the hottest few days of the summer which for a hotel like Marriott was hugely disappointing. Our room was very clean, the location of the hotel is great and overall good value.

A bit disappointed from Marriott’s standards. The rooms are really old, whether it’s the furniture, the light (if you need something not too bright in the middle of the night, forget about it), the functioning (the bathroom switch is in the entrance of the room, away from the bathroom entrance, never seen it before), the food (which is ok but not outstanding); overall the experience is not that good. One positive point though, the staff who is trying to be as helpful as possible all the time. They are all very nice.

We arrived late and left early, but enjoyed our one-night stay here very much. It is easy to find using satnav, and on-site parking for £10. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the Marriott breakfast was excellent as expected. This is a typical Marriott. If you like them, this is exactly what you'll get here. We'd definitely stay here again.

Perfect location for a city break. Walking distance to the city centre all the shopping bars, main stations walking distance to the river too but still great for a quiet night sleep. Leisure centre is great. Small but private gym, excersise hall, swimming pool with stream room and sauna. Very clean and looked after with lockers. You will need a £1 to operate lockers. Towels provided too and basics shower gel. I would advise to take own shampoo and conditioner of you are a lady. The hair dries are not great. Only few are working and they blow cold air so do bring your own or use one in your room..There is most magnificent beauty salon offering excellent massages and other beauty treatments at good prices. Food is excellent and worth the price. Parking available for guests too

The staff are very helpful and friendly. The location is good for both arrival by train (few minutes walk to Glasgow Central) and the motorway is nearby. There is a large car park at the hotel (£10 per day) which I understand it's best to pay as part for your stay so register you car reg with reception when you check in. The negatives are that the two rooms I've stayed in are dimly lit and neither had power sockets near the bed. The rooms could definitely do with an upgrade.

Wonderful staff and lovely rooms. Nice location within walking distance of downtown. The Hop on Hop off bus stops right across the street. Great day to sew Glasgow with the narrated tour.

The personnel is very polite and friendly. Breakfast is good. But this hotel remains utterly disappointing. As per what you would expect from any basic hotel: -The rooms and corridors badly need renovating (at the very least for the stained and old fashioned carpets). - There is no free WiFi. Refer to other people's comments for the fee, we did not fall into this trap. - The air ventilation system in our room made such a racket it was impossible to get a good night sleep because of it, or the heat if you were to turn it off. Now, this hotel also had a pool, jacuzzi, steam room, and massage parlor: - The corridor leading to the changing rooms and facilities made us feel like we were entering a municipal sweeping pool. - Had to use the third locker I tried because one contained a half eaten sandwich, and the other one didn't lock, which kind of defeats the purpose. - We never got hold of the massage parlor, although we went on site twice to try and book an appointment. - The jacuzzi was out of order. - The pool was cold. All in all, if you can get a very cheap room, try it, otherwise save yourself the trouble. This is also the last time that we will stay in a Marriott because 1) The brand clearly is not synonymous for consistent quality 2) If we want something on the more affordable end, we would rather get a room in a guest house, or a local hotel than such a large chain, which would have the means to make the renovations and above mentioned fixes, but somehow choses not to.

We stayed for two nights at this hotel, and were quite pleased. It is an older hotel and showed some signs of aging but all in all it was just what we needed for our stay! We thought the breakfast was nice, and had delicious sticky pudding in the bar! My husband , who stays many nights a year in Marriott’s all over the world was very taken by the the young man at the front desk. William was attentive and didn’t miss a beat. It rare to find such an outstanding front desk associate and he should be commended for his friendly demeanor and attentiveness towards guest! You’ve got a good one there!

Booked accommodation and meeting rooms to cover a meeting with customers. Booking process very straightforward. Location very convenient and appropriate parking facilities. Can't fault anyone from the staff regarding service (very welcoming and attentive). The hotel itself is a different story. The building feels old (and not in a good way) and the bedrooms are definitely dated and in need of an overhaul (I.e. lighting, powerpoints, furnishings, very low ceilings, shower fittings). The meeting rooms in the first floor albeit fit for purpose they're clearly a conversion. The one things where I was really disappointed and, frankly thought below a Marriott standard was the lunch buffet: everything was very dry. Worst of all,the chicken breast was supposed to be "barbecue" and it was just a lump of tasteless and dry meat.

Make sure to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking any room. They compare hundreds of booking web sites and typically will have rates a lot cheaper compared to others! Thank me later! This place is the best rated in the area. I've been coming here for a long time. If you decide to stay here you definitely won't regret it. We booked beauty treatments and received a great service. Staff is so nice and beauty therapist are well trained. Definitely coming back. Before our treatments we had coffee at bar, service was amazing lovely staff made really nice cafe latte, exactly what I needed. Thanks

Absolutely stellar service from the staff. John and Jim at the Concierge desk were helpful and knowledgeable. Holly, Graig and Nieve remembered our favorite drinks and foods in the restaurant. Cleaning staff were polite, efficient. Very easy to access taxi service. Across the street from bus stop. Easy walking distance to pubs, restaurants, shops. Room service and laundry services were available. Comfortable beds. Roomy bathrooms.

Staff was professional and welcoming. The hotel is old, front gate squeaks loudly, the elevators less loud. The room was extremely hot, no air conditioning only a fan that didn't do much. One of the lifts was broken for the evening and no stairs access! (Only from first floor) Breakfast was good. Overall not worth the price, you think your paying bit extra for comfort.....

For me the highlight of this hotel is the staff who work during the breakfast shift (the lovely lady with the plait who's name I will try harder to remember so I can update this review with it) who served me most mornings and made my day. The gentleman who brought my room service was always lovely too. Thank you both for being fabulous! Overall it's always a pleasure staying here! Hotel room is always nice, though the room wasn't vacuumed for a couple of days. Not sure what you're policy is on this, but would have been good to have had that done when it was needed!

Been sometime since I last stayed here. Service was first rate, especially at Breakfast. Room was good as always although a better quality shower is more usual these days. Overall, I enjoyed my short stay and would use this hotel again.

  • 4/5 Painterakis81 1 year ago on Google
While it’s a nice hotel, both times that I have stayed there there is an internal noise that doesn’t allow you to sleep properly. I am not sure if it’s the air conditioning. The breakfast is perfect and the restaurant/cafe/bar provides excellent food for dinner.

Really poor accessibility. Room was a 'disabled' room,,, miles from the lift, long long walk. There's only 1 room in the entire hotel with a walk in shower. An 'accessible' room has an overbath shower with grab rails randomly placed by a baboon. It has a really short bath meant to mean disabled folk can access. Meant I couldn't have a shower, an able bodied partner couldn't have a bath. Spa was accessible thru the outside car park and down a flight of steps. Total rubbish. I fell my first day there. They gave me money off, but I wrote a letter of complaint and in spite of following up with 2 phone calls no-one has bothered to get back to me. Staff lovely, amenities rubbish.

I went to the Spa with my cousin who was a guest in the hotel. Cannot comment on the rooms as I didn't go into one. Spa staff were friendly, helpful nothing was a bother for them. I did have a problem with the Spa. Sauna was being refurbished but there was no mention of this anywhere. There is a sign stating no outdoor shoes to be worn past this point. Go into find that the maintenance person is walking around with outdoor shoes on leaving mud marks on the floor. Not at all hygienic then to add to the mess a member of staff comes in to hose down the floor and again has outdoor shoes on. Are there no shoe covers available? The sauna being under maintenance made it an unrelaxing experience.
