Simple, cozy, clean and friendly. Excellent location if you're looking for a quite non-fuzzy stay and a natural green environment. Entry to the Kelvin Walkway just across the street and promises a wonderful morning walk. The Botanical Garden in 30 meters. The bus stop in 30 meters takes you to the riverside, the university and lots of museums. The subway station in 200 meters provides an easy access to the city enter. Supermarkets and choices of restaurants neayby (but in a proper distance to ensure a quite environment). Super friendly and helpful staff and warm traditional English breakfast made to your order. Exactly what I expected for a good stay. Definitely will return.

Excellent place to stay just outside the city by the beautiful Botanic Gardens. Huge, quiet and very nicely decorated room, with comfortable super king sized bed and lovely padded headboard. Spotlessly clean shower room and separate hallway with lovely sunny table and 2 chairs, superb room. Three tiny improvements needed - The shower was cold, both for me and my colleague who stayed in an identical room adjaecent, we told the receptionist on leaving and is looking into this for future guests. Bath sheets as opposed to towels would be nicer. Breakfast was nicely presented but a little over cooked. Would love to stay again soon 5 stars nice welcome 10/10

Lovely, large and clean apartment style room with small foyer and bathroom with large walk in shower. Huge bed. Small safe in room. Tea, coffee and biscuits provided. David, on reception, was very quick to deal with any queries or requests we had. Free parking is available at the rear of the property, but down a very narrow cobbled side street and it is a very tight car park, especially if you have a large vehicle. We reversed in to the first space by the entrance.

Didn't give the room higher because for some reason, they don't do bedsheets - I just found that strange. Also, the showers are interesting - there's a little electronic device that you turn on to start the shower, probably to not have the water heating all the time when it doesn't need to, but mine was either malfunctioning or not intuitive enough for me to figure out. Anyway, it spat out water in a rhythm from cold to scalding, so I had to jump out of the way, then get back in and catch the acceptable temperature water... short showers. But otherwise this is a fantastic budget hotel, area seems 100% safe, it was super quiet, bed was a twin but comfortable. Small and a bit old tv if that bothers you. Radiator worked. Front desk service great. If you want to walk to the center city of Glasgow it will take you about 30 minutes, and it's a beautiful area to walk through and explore.

Great small hotel, fantastically well placed for Byres rd/Great Western rd. Room was clean and cosy and a quiet place to stay. Shower was temperamental so difficult getting water flow just right! I would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful hotel, tastefully decorated and in the perfect location for exploring Glasgow. The property has many of its original features and although modernised, this has been thoughtfully carried out. Room had everything I required and was clean and comfortable. I loved the framed prints which were displayed around the walls and to my delight there was only a hint of Scottish tartan and tweed. Certainly not overkill unlike other city establishments. Staff i encountered were polite and helpful. I would definitely recommend and hope to return in the future.

Great service and excellent location. Close to places we needed to go but with parking which was a huge plus. Nice rooms and tucked away in quiet location. Definitely stay again when next need to be in Glasgow

Great location for the west end of Glasgow and very reasonably priced in comparison to other hotels around same area. Hotel was nice enough, staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our stay was for a long weekend and the rooms were ready prior to check in so got in early. First night we had the pleasure of paper thin walls with our neighbours smoking weed out their window at 11pm and doing their stand up routine, but come to expect in the middle of city centre. Our room on the 1st floor was bigger than the top floor as with low ceilings it made our other guests room feel very cramped but was well secluded. The rooms were basic but pleasant enough, but could do the extra touch on cleanliness with sticky tea bag and coffee that might have not been swapped/changed since last stay and I dare touch the TV remote! Didn't sample the breakfast but around £9 when we booked and enquired. Car park is hidden down a small alley off Clouston Street. Overall like I say, very nice staff, rooms were 6/10 on cleanliness but for a 3 star hotel in middle of city centre decent for a short stay!

A clean, quiet and friendly hotel in the West End. It’s in a lovely location just off the Botanic Gardens and it’s also close to the Uni. The staff are really polite and helpful. It’s my “go to” option whenever I visit Glasgow.

My second stay in this hotel in the West End of Glasgow. A great location next to the Botanics and Byres Road. A very friendly welcome. A basic but clean and well maintained room. A good breakfast. Generous check in/out times. Overall, a great stay and highly recommend. There’s limited on site parking (around the back), but this time I used public transport. It’s roughly a 10-15 minute walk from the Subway.

We were greeted with a very nice and professional welcome , our room was amazing , bigger than expected , very clean and very comfortable, would request this room next time we stay. The only thing missing from room was shower gel and soap for the shower . Breakfast was very tasty and perfectly cooked , the only thing I would say is there wasn't much options for continental, would be nice to see more pastry options next time. Perfect location for us and we will definitely be back! Also like the fact you plant a tree for me posting this review ... well done 👏

I have been staying at the Ambassador for over five years and have never been disappointed. The staff are welcoming and friendly. The rooms are consistently clean and of course, the location in the West End of Glasgow is perfect.

The staff were welcoming, the room was clean, comfy beds and a good shower. The location is perfect for the west end and lovely walks in the park directly opposite. Plenty cafes, restaurants and little independent shops close by. We would stay again.

First of all it was a very cute hotel. Very homey and comfortable. Everyone working there is extremely nice and helpful. The room has everything you need and is very clean. They food is very tasty and you have everything you would want of an UK breakfast. Also, if you come after 10 pm you get accommodated which was great! Overall it was a very pleasant stay. Thank you!

We had the most amazing stay for 5 nights. The hotel is located in a nice quiet area in a small dead end road in front of Kelvin River. There is a pathway leading towards Kelvin Walkway where there is a bridge connecting to the Botanical Garden. Perfect for a morning and evening stroll. It is short 3-5 minutes walk to Byres Road and Great Western Road with restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, retail shops, bus stops and Hill Head metro station. This location is perfect for us to get around in Glasgow. The hotel is in a nice block of terrace. We were warmly greeted by Neil who made us feel so welcoming and at home on arrival and throughout our stay. We stayed in a small room for the first 2 nights. Neil is kind enough to upgrade us into a bigger room when the other guests checked out. It was really kind of him. The bigger room is huge with it’s own entrance foyer with a small sitting area separate from a huge bedroom with a separate bathroom. He made our stay in the next 3 nights so much more comfortable we could not have imagine any better. Thanks Neil. You’re most wonderful.

Situated by the beautiful Kelvin River and walkway, this hotel is an oasis in the west of Glasgow. My stay was my second, it was brief, just one night, but I will certainly be back. The service was great, check in and checkout were easy. Communication from the hotel was via email and informative, with discounts for booking directly with them. Couldn’t recommend this hotel enough

Great location for everything in the west end. Easy walking distance to the University and Byres Rd area. The room was comfortable and the staff were very helpful. The car park is a little tight but we were very grateful to be able to have somewhere safe to leave the cars. All in all a good choice.

Stayed here for ~a week. My luggage had been lost and the staff was very friendly and helped me figure out where to go to get things. Everyone on staff was great! Breakfast was really good, and the location just north of the botanic gardens was very nice! There were lots of shops and restaurants in walking distance. The room itself was nice and clean. Very glad that I chose to stay here!

I was greeted by hairs and pee on the toilet seat, that's just not right. the place is renovated, but unfortunately everything and everywhere is dirty and grimy; from the shower walls to the soap dispenser to the shaved hairs on the socket next to the sink and the dirty cups. this was the dirtiest place i stayed in within Scotland, and I got sick while staying there too. do yourself a favor and just don't!

We're in a double twin room and the room is clean but definitely a little worse for wear and a bit small and sparse. The walls are really thin and you can hear the water running through the pipes as well as someone snoring next door. That would be tolerable but the thing that really pushed down the rating though was that the water shut off in the middle of my shower without warning and would not turn back on (about 10 min). Update: the shower is still not working 9 hours later. Appears to be a fuse issue. Probably a bit atypical but would impact my decision to stay here in the future. Another update: they did bring in a plumber/electrician very quickly and he fixed it.

Very nice rooms and staff. The whole house was very clean and welcoming. Sadly, the heating was a electric radiator (not very efficient) that consistently claimed that the window was open even when being closed for several hours. Location was good (near supermarket and busy streets with shops and restaurants), but a 10'-15' walk from the next bus station could be a bit long with a heavy suitcase. All in all, a very pleasant stay (with some minor inconveniences). Thank you!

This was my second stay at The Ambassador Hotel. We came earlier this year when visiting our daughter and returned to celebrate her graduation. On both occasions we were impressed by the friendly helpful staff, lovely rooms, excellent breakfast. Particularly grateful for the help booking taxis and being able to leave our luggage while we were at the ceremony. This is a really good value hotel in an excellent location by the river Kelvin, Botanic Gardens and with Hillhead shops, restaurants, bars close by. Highly recommended. PS. Also love the idea that for every review a tree is planted!

We booked the double apartment. When arriving the duvet had a dirty mark which looked like either mascara or or dirt from someone’s suitcase. When telling the manager David he did not care, told me it was the linen company and that was it. I told him it wasn’t a stain it was dirt to which he replied, it’s not without any knowledge of what I was referring to or even checking for himself. Worst customer service from such a pompous man.

Excellent accomodation within walking distance to Oran Mor where we celebrated a friend's wedding. Breakfast was okay, but some days better than others.

The hotel is located in a quiet corner of Glasgow West End just above the Botanical garden. It is very tranquil here and gives a good sleep. 10 min walk to the subway, 5 min walk to the corner of Great Western Road and Byres street, two popular avenues full of cafes and shops. 20 min to the centre of Glasgow (walk+subway), or 40 min walk. Our room was tiny. Despite it says 18 sqm on the website, it was hardly 12. There was not enough space between the corner of the bed and the wall to squeeze through so one has to climb over the bed to get on and off. The bed was comfy and good size. This would be a decent size single room but not enough for two people. The shower did not have either a cup for the toothbrush or even shampoo. Just a dispenser of some washing liquid on the wall. The shower tray was overfilling with water as the drain was probably blocked. Likewise, tiny space on the sink for one’s stuff. Teabags and coffee sachets were provided along a tiny kettle. I suggest to replace it with a bigger one which detached from the base as it is a pain to refill it every time needing to take the plug out of the socket. The staff was very nice, quick check in, also a very decently priced breakfast was offered. I only took it once though as though plentiful (one can choose full English with a choice of sausage bacon black pudding beans tomato or all of it) it was not to my liking taste wise. Bacon was very rough and scrambled eggs felt as if it had a lot of funny stuff added. Overall it was a comfortable stay and I can recommend it but I would probably look for a different hotel next time.

:) - The people were lovely. We paid for breakfast included which meant we had access to the buffet and could order a hot meal free of charge. The area was great as there was a subway near by so could travel easy without a car. :( - The room was a little cold but there were radiators to warm it up. The only thing I could maybe pick on was the double bed as it was two single beds zipped together so there was a bit of a dent in the middle. Overall great stay !!
