Great location with plenty of parking available on surrounding streets. Steve was incredibly friendly and proud of his property (as he should be). Comfortable room, bathroom facilities and nice breakfast also. Will absolutely be back (book direct though)

Friendly and comfortable. I'm glad we chose to stay at the Alamo. Increasingly, I look for people who are making an effort and who care about their businesses and here, I think they do. The location is perfect – right near busy Sauchiehall St but quiet and overlooking the tennis club. The interior is eclectic; we liked it. Some people might pick up on little bits that arguably need maintenance, but they don't affect the stay. On the contrary, our room was spacious, and the bed was super comfortable- a deal breaker for me! Breakfast is cooked to order which is quite rare and it makes a difference. Everyone we came into contact with was friendly and welcoming. If you like non-chain experiences, give The Alamo a try!

An absolute gem. So beautifully and lovingly decorated and restored with so much attention to detail. As someone who has a penchant for sympathetic restoration and preservation of older buildings I really loved every little thing about this place. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, I got some great recommendations for places to visit, and I had such a peaceful, quiet stay which is often rare in hotels/guest houses. Great cooked breakfast as well, it fuelled me for my endless wandering around the city. Hoping to stay here again when I return to Glasgow next year.

I found The Alamo Guest House via an online search and selected it based on the many positive reviews that were posted. Those reviewers were accurate! The building, our room, and the common areas were immaculately clean, well-furnished and, especially our room (#12), extremely comfortable. In addition, the large hi-def TV in the room provided all the standard channels you would expect in a cable/satellite system, but also included free access to a number of subscription-based offerings such as Netflix, Amazon Prime and many others. Breakfast each morning was made to order and the number of selections of both hot and cold choices was almost endless. The Alamo House is located in the Kelvingrove area, one of the best sections in Glasgow. Many great sites to visit and an inordinate number of restaurant choices are within a few minutes’ walk. The Hop-on Hop-off bus, which we used extensively during our stay to get around Glasgow and its many sites and areas to visit, and I highly recommend, has two stops that were each about a 5 minute walk to reach. Our room was tastefully decorated, everything was well-maintained and the huge bay windows on two of the room’s walls allowed plenty of natural light to brighten the room. One set of the bay windows overlooked the tennis courts and bowling greens directly across the street, and were part of a large park that was wonderful to walk in. The Kelvingrove Art Museum and buildings on the Univ of Glasgow campus form a great background to this view. The best part of our entire stay, though, was meeting and having various chats with Steve, the Alamo House’s owner. A perfect person for the job - a wonderful personality, an engaging conversationalist, focused on your every need and someone you felt was extremely happy and appreciative that you chose his establishment for your stay. While we did not get an opportunity to meet his wife, Emma, I suspect she shares the same traits as Steve. Together, along with their great staff, they are what makes The Alamo House as wonderful as it is. We were extremely pleased with our stay and want to thank Steve and Emma for their gracious hospitality and we certainly appreciated the time that Steve spent outlining areas on our map to visit and the great recommendations he made for dinner each night during our stay. You can not do any better than The Alamo House for your lodging choice in Glasgow!

Great location for Kelvinggrove area, access to very good restaurants and able to walk into city centre. Rooms are very comfortable, friendly staff and good breakfasts. Now our preferred place to stay when we stay over in Glasgow.

My partner and I had a wonderful one night stay at the Alamo during the week before Christmas, and I was delighted to be given several very reasonable options to upgrade. The rooms have been equipped and decorated to an exceptional standard, with comfortable furnishings. The breakfast was delicious! I was given an extensive list of gluten free options, and everything was fab. The guest house has an interesting history and is really well-located for a quiet night after a day in Glasgow. We can't wait to return!

Superb!! We visited Glasgow for my daughters wedding and booked 2 rooms, 2 nights. the online booking system allowed us to "check in" a few days beforehand and was easy to use - prompted by an email from the Guest House. When we arrived (Saturday morning) there was FREE parking in the street outside the Alamo (yes, lucky shot!! - parking is free on weekends and the parking meters start again at 8.a. Mon - Fri - the parking app just worked faultlessly for the couple of hours we needed on the Monday morning). We had arranged to drop off our bags and were welcomed, offered refreshments and allowed to change in one of our rooms!! Result as the ladies in our party had not travelled in their wedding outfits, so, THANK YOU. They also called us a taxi and we arrived early to the wedding venue, so, THANK YOU AGAIN!! The rooms are immaculately clean and the beds very large and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, hi spec. and well presented. Anything on the menu was available and cooked / prepared fresh to order. The Alamo is in the Kelvingrove area and superbly placed for the Kelvingrove museum, which we spent nearly 5 hours in (for free) the following day. We were flagging and arrived back at the Alamo mid-afternoon. We sat in the lounge and Emily offered us refreshments, so we had coffee and tea on tap. What a lovely atmosphere, a true "home from home" and we chatted with Emily for quite some time, finding out about good places to eat. Steve took over and served breakfast the next day. Nothing was too much trouble and they are all very friendly and helpful. We will certainly be going back and I recommend the Alamo unreservedly!! Room great. Shower was lovely, bed comfortable, mood lighting, bath in the middle of the floor, what's not to Love?

Our stay was so lovely thanks to Jennifer who has a natural and easy gift for hospitality. She offered to put a kettle of tea on straight away, as we were a tad early from our flight times. It was perfect. So thoughtfully, left us a note and pastries and called a taxi for our early departure. We stayed in Room4: The bed and linens were cozy, comfy. The rain shower was heavenly. Decor just right - all of it just perfect.

My absolute favorite place to stay in Glasgow. Nicely appointed and uniquely designed and decorated rooms (the bathrooms are all whimsical). Located adjacent to Kelvingrove Park in the Finniston neighborhood. Close to the University, Kelvingrove Museum, local shops (Argyle St.), restaurants, and pubs. Privately owned and operated. Highly recommended!

Excellent B&B. Great setting overlooking Kelvingrove Park. Lovely old property, restored to former glory, high coffin ceilings, sympathetic main hallway low lighting but very big bright breakfast room bay window with paintings, book shelves, artefacts on sideboards to stimulate interest. Looked forward to the Scottish themed breakfast with a tower of both haggis & black pudding on a tattie scone topped with poached egg.

Fabulous place to stay with easy access to the city centre. This quaint and well decorated Inn is located near the Glasgow University and in an area with a real cultural vibe, close to great restaurants and pubs. The hosts were great and the breakfast was out of this world. You need to have the croissants!!!! Thanks for making our stay so comfortable. Ron and Barb

Located in the heart of the beautiful Kelvingrove area you'll find this stunning guest house run by Steve and Emma. Everywhere you look you'll find beautiful details, from the door handles to the ornaments on the ceiling. We stayed in room 4 which is gorgeous with a wonderful rain shower. Breakfast was superb as was the overall service. The whole place is a testament to the love and dedication of the owners. If you want to indulge yourself staying in gorgeous, welcoming and hospitable guest house this is the place to be for a stay in Glasgow.

Wow! This place was so special, fantastic area for exploring and everything was of very high quality. The breakfasts were the best I'd had in Scotland and every little detail was looked after in the beautiful rooms.

Stunning place. Host were so nice. Extremely friendly. We chose room 10 and honestly my wife was refusing to leave. The room was that comfy and cozy. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order absolutely delicious and the portions were pretty decent too. Can't wait to visit again.

Had to cancel my reservation and the hotel promised to give me a refund if they will rebooked the room. After they rebooked it they disappeared, didn’t respond to my requests and emails. Be aware they might take your money and disappear

Lovely guesthouse in a busy part of town. We walked into the city center, but there are buses close to the guest house. The staff was so helpful and friendly, and breakfast is delicious with options in cold and freshly cooked hot breakfast. Could'nt have been happier.

Stayed on two occasions, years apart. Great service, useful parking permits available to purchase at reasonable price, generous breakfast. Lovely rooms with beautiful antique furnishings. Warm and cosy, nice bathrobes. The only thing I would look to change is the mugs in the rooms because they were small, little handles and not so nice Ikea ones. But I am quite discerning with my mugs.

Free street parking at weekends. The welcome we received was great the staff are very friendly. Nice room; spotless, quiet, big comfy bed. Loved the breakfast, right up there with the best hotel breakfasts I've had. We are already looking forward to visiting again

We picked this hotel before COVID started and have had to wait until now to come, so our expectations were high and there was definitely the potential of being disappointed. The Alamo Guest House has exceeded every one of our expectations. While the owners have taken what is probably a much needed break of their own, their staff have proven to be more than equal to the task. Both Jennifer and Josh have been friendly and attentive. Our room is so beautiful and the view from our window all that we had hoped. The bed last night was heaven to two weary travellers. We will happily book here again We also are walking and have found this to be a great location for getting anywhere we might want to go

We stayed 4 nights in this lovely guest house which has been beautifully and sympathetically restored. The staff were friendly, attentive and welcoming and very happy to chat and advise about the area. Breakfasts were excellent with a wide choice of items, served in the delightful dining room. The house is very well sited for central Glasgow with many attractions within walking distance. There is a rich choice of places to eat also close by. Our stay was relaxing and restorative and we would certainly warmly recommend this guest house to others.
