What a surprise this site was. It really is lovely. Peaceful and quiet. We stayed with our motorhome. There is a cafe nearby. Easy walk to the local Coop. The staff are friendly and helpful. This is a good base. We walked the short distance to the railway station and caught the train into Glasgow. The walk is 10 mins and the train only takes 15 minutes. The site has a small toilet block and shower. There is a water point for filling up and waste water points as well. The site has a David Bellamy award and is an NCC approved site. So the standards are good. There is no bar. But there are pubs with an easy walk away. The site is secured by a gate system which is brilliant. Recommended

Ideal for traveling to Glasgow on the train also the Colliery cafe down the road is excellent for breakfast and very reasonably priced on the way to the train station. We stayed on the top with a good view and grass in-between pitches.

We do not recommend anyone to stay at the Red Deer “Holiday” Caravans as they are not fit for purpose. We arrived to the site on Friday afternoon and instantly emailed about our upset at the conditions (inside and out) of the caravan, this email was sent just before 5pm. We were told that last check in was 6pm, so therefore, we assumed that a member of staff would be there to reply to our email. However, this was not the case. Inside the caravan, the radiator was broken, the sofas had large stains on them, there was grout (scum) in the shower, the fridge was unclean and rusty, the bed clothes were bobby and scratchy and the mattresses were of poor quality. As well as this, there were large amount of cigarette butts outside of the caravan, and it became known to us that they were cleared once a week. See photos attached. We also found out that these caravans are used by workers, builders for example. This information came to us from the site manager. Therefore, we were very confused as to why these caravans were being sold as a holiday home. The site manager agreed with us that the caravan was not fit for the purpose of a holiday and did apologise for its conditions. We approached members of staff about the conditions of the caravan on Monday morning. And although they were very apologetic and helpful to begin with, their approach to resolving the problem was unsatisfactory. We understood that we would not receive a full refund as we had spent 3 nights in the caravan (due to lack of response from staff, as their office was closed over the weekend) but we were extremely disappointed to receive only 10% back. We felt like we were definitely entitled to more, especially as we contacted members of staff upon our immediate arrival. And when we requested a higher percentage, they turned us down and told us that we should have contacted them sooner, when we did, via email. They then stated that we should have contacted their emergency number, but no information was provided to tell us that this number could be used for complaints, as the name “emergency” suggests otherwise, e.g. gas leak. The park itself is beautiful, and when you arrive, you really feel like you’re staying in a place of class and luxury. However, these caravans did not meet our original expectations. They are located right at the back, hidden behind the beautiful homes, and they are run down, making them unfit for the purpose of a holiday. And they really should not be sold as such. At £98 a night, you can have an even better experience at a local 5 star hotel.

The park itself is lovely. And the caravan was clean when we arrived. The staff were polite and helpful. But The main issue we had was the fridge was broken on arrival. This was reported and we were given access to another fridge (but apparently we couldn't move caravans even though fairly sure most were empty), then on the last day of our stay our food was moved to another fridge and I had to chase up getting the key. All whilst we had a 4month old whose milk needed to be kept in the fridge. The oven was also poor. I think the knobs were on wrong because they didn't point to a temp so you had to guess. And the grill didn't work. Also had to chase getting the security deposit back which on booking was £100, but was £200 when we arrived

Camped at the red deer village with a few friends. Good location just out of Glasgow city centre. Has good clean facilities including showers, bathrooms, and drinking water. Weird vibe however. Also pretty ezpensive for non - electric camping.

Clean and tidy but not really a park I’d take family or kids to. Nobody there to meet us or check us in on arrival at 6pm, later found they’d changed their hours but the website says someone there until 9pm, which isn’t the case. Delayed our evening by over an hour having to repeatedly ring a mobile which wasn’t being answered. Our pitch was double booked so we were given a hard standing emergency pitch outside the office. Shower block and toilets clean but could be much bigger. Felt the site was very expensive for what it was. Quiet in the evenings, slept well. Train station 1 mile walk which was handy for getting into Glasgow

Arrived after hours and was told to call a number in the conformation email for access. The number was for a different company. Finally found a number to call in the reception window, to find out they forgot to leave the keys and we would have to wait half an hour. When we finally did get in, there was no amenities like tea, coffee, soap etc. Also no towels. The rooms themselves where pretty good, but the service was terrible
