🫀 How can a buzzer from a patient buzz for ten minutes and three members of nursing staff completely ignore it???? I am utterly disgusted at the lack of attention and bed side manner from the staff here. I feel sad for the patients who are unable to speak up for themselves. People often mention staff, hospital, ward, care, helpful, time, nurses, appointment, nurse, great,

I stayed overnight at the sleep clinic in the Brownlee Centre. I had reservations about going to Gartnavel because I had to deal with difficult memories of accompanying my late girlfriend when she attended the Beetson Cancer Clinic and I explained that to the staff when I arrived. The people who looked after me could not have been nicer. Kind, friendly, considerate, helpful and generous with their time. I was made to feel at ease right from the word go. The room I was in was spotless and hospital food is not as bad as some people make out! I reccomend the soup. Between my sleep tests I was able to go out and about and stretch my legs and I was pointed in the direction of a small nearby lake complete with swans. An unexpected and most tranquil find in Glasgow's West End. Check it out. I can obviously only speak personally, but from my experience, the Brownlee centre at Gartnavel is a credit to NHS Scotland. Thank you.

Opthalmology.Dept/1c The consultants and nursing staff are are extremely warm and professional. By far the best ward I've ever been in among all the hospitals and wards I've ever been in. Staff can't do enough for you which takes the stress out of your visit. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the food is really nice. Ward 1c is the benchmark by which all other hospitals should aspire to.They are an absolute credit to the NHS . Thank you all so much for all the care and attention you demonstrated to me during my recent visit - particularly Dr Josh who came to the RAH on Saturday night just to see me and treat my pain despite his busy schedule. I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am for his intervention.

I can think of only one word to describe this hospital and my recent visit: adequate. Not a glowing recommendation, but not a warning to stay away either. The first thing every outpatient and visitor should be aware of is that parking is extraordinarily difficult with very limited spaces available. It's a good job I arrived 45 minutes before my appointment time, as it took 40 of those minutes to find a space. I'd recommend using public transport to get to the hospital or arriving very early if, like me, you're coming from so far outside the area that a car is the only option. Once I was parked, everything up to my appointment went smoothly. A very helpful gentleman stationed directly inside the door - a volunteer, I think - gave me directions so succinct that only an imbecile would have failed to get to where they needed to be. Upon my arrival the receptionist was extremely pleasant and the waiting room was surprisingly comfortable. My wait was not a long one. I wasn't seen exactly on time, but given the state of the NHS I'm not going to complain about the eight minutes I had to wait beyond my appointment time - in some hospitals I've visited, an hour or two past the appointment time would be considered "prompt". So, why only three stars? My appointment was for an ultrasound guided biopsy of a lump on the side of my neck, most likely an enlarged lymph node, but I'd already had an ultrasound and the results were inconclusive, so a biopsy was necessary. However, when I was taken in I was immediately told by the lady performing the ultrasound that she was in a hurry - something about needing to get to her daughter's school by 2pm - and therefore would only be performing another ultrasound and I'd have to return for my biopsy at a later date. Given that I had to travel for three hours from my home in Argyll to attend the appointment and was hoping that a biopsy would give me peace of mind, I was more than a little displeased. However, when I voiced my concern I was told that I could have the ultrasound only or go away and she would say that I failed to attend, which would put me back on the waiting list and require another referral from my consultant. As a result of this negligent and unprofessional behaviour, I was forced to make the journey again three weeks later to have the procedure done at another hospital. Fortunately, it was just an enlarge lymph node and nothing to worry about, but I had three additional weeks of stress waiting for the results and incurred another Β£100+ in travel costs all because she wanted to leave work early. She is very lucky it wasn't something more serious as her conduct would have resulted in a delay in treatment for me and for her more than just a formal complaint. A nice hospital, but an atrocious experience.

Decorative coffee bar at the entrance to the hospital sells food for world class prices. It's as if the patients and visitors are all from very affluent parts of London. Fees like a con.

Needed investigations for possible breast cancer and following referral from my GP I was seen within the 8 week waiting time. I attended GGH on Monday 8/11/2021 and after checking in to Clinic 3 (ground floor) I waited my turn in a busy foyer. I found the clerks and nursing staff polite and working tirelessly. I was called in to see Dr Christopher Wilson and his Registrar Amy and found them helpful and very personable and answered all my concerns. I had to go to the screening dept for a mammogram and after waiting only 15 minutes I was called through. Avril (screening technician) was thorough and chatty at the same time putting me at ease. I returned to see Dr Wilson/Amy and was given the all clear with topical treatment and a follow-up appointment before Xmas. I just want to say that the whole visit was dealt with with courtesy and understanding and that I applaud the staff in the whole clinic and screening area. Very well done, the whole experience was excellent and a credit to the NHS even though I am an ex nurse myself...πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Popped in for a wee MRI the day. Staff couldn't have been nicer, I was shown right to the door and the information on the scan was thorough and comprehendible. In and out with no fuss via a decent cup of coffee from the cafΓ©. I even managed to land a parking space near the main entrance. All in all a decent wee day out, 5 stars, would recommend.

STAY AWAY!!! DISCUSTING There's many failings in this hospital from lifts not working to there not being any tv for patients at all which may be out of your hands I understand but the staff are shockingly very badly trained in this hospital. My father has been in this hospital for almost two weeks and he has been treated disgustingly. His sores have deteriorated since being at this hospital, there has been days where he hasn't been turned over by staff which has led the pressure to increase. There is no call button at his bed so he does not get checked on which is very dangerous, my mother asked why this was to be told " it is broken and just to shout on a neighbour to get them to shout a nurse" , this I find more discusting as he suffers with dementia and is over 80 years of age. Every visit we go on or if we spend the day the nurses are constantly chatting between thereselfs at a table with no regards for patients.

I just want to say that my experience with the NHS has been amazing. I was in ward 7 and The nurses at the hospital are so kind, thoughtful and skilled at what they do. My procedure went so smoothly and the doctor was very good at easing my concerns. He chatted away and distracted me from my worries and was very efficient at his job. I am so incredibly thankful to all the staff and can’t believe that this is all done for us for free. So blessed

Gartnavel has an out of hours GP service run in the urology department. If you need an out of hours gp and live in the west call 111 (nhs 24) for a referral to this service. Be prepared to wait, as you do with these places but in the instance I used them they gave good care and attention aswell as arranging a spare room to wait with a toddler so they can be more easily managed. I saw other families were offered this aswell.

I would like to give the Diabetic Clinic at Gartnavel the highest praise. The nurses and dieticians have always helped me out , but especially this week when I have been extremely unwell. A special thanks to Allison and Christine for keeping me on track and putting my concerns at ease.

Can't even find information on how long it'll take me to see a doctor about my knee. All I know is it will be over a year. I can't walk. This is the reality of the NHS. It needs money. If we don't criticise the NHS, the Tories get away with making it garbage by underfunding it.

Was in recently for surgery, the whole experience was 10/10.. I genuinely cannot fault any aspect of my day at this hospital. The Surgeons, Anaesthetists, Nurses and Receptionists were polite, helpful and caring. If you are lucky enough to get treatment at this hospital; you are in very safe hands.

Spent a night in ophthalmology ward having hourly antibiotic eye drops. Incredibly, I slept perfectly the whole night in holy segments after every drop! I was given a room with en suite shower, television and all the trimmings. It's humbling to receive such great care from the efficient and approachable NHS staff. The shop at the general entrance has the usual vast selection of worrying sugar products; patients don't get the irony, obviously. . .perhaps a ban might be in order to set a good example? Or is the profit margin too good to resist? Diabetes type two seems to be winning easily. . . Ambulance engines can be used to keep waiting drivers warm outside the Tom Wheldon building as they snooze in the rear of the vehicle, apparently. I'm afraid another ban is to be recommended: cut the engine idling please!

A very long time ago before my mother died I had an appointment to have my eyes x-rayed as I thought it was in the eye department as I was going through the swinging doors as in one of the cubicles as your sister Hester was wearing a nurse uniform on she came over to talk to me as this was the eye department that took my eyelashes off as I need to tell you both that I might be getting back home soon whenever I get into my house I will be sending you a message to tell you that I have arrived back home as I hope to see you both again very soon to welcome you Christine back into my life forever as I still need to tell you what your mother told me about you Christine as she told me that she used to be a homehelp too as I didn't know that she had died as everytime my parents sent me to go for a message for them I was always bumping into her as she was the same woman who was talking to my own mother at Templetons supermarket as I hope to see you both again very soon as the wardens told you that I was dead as you both will see for yourselves that I am still alive as they only did this to get rid of me out of my house to Chris and Hester Brand from Billyxxx

Today I attended Radiology/ X Ray Department for my 3 monthly nephrostomy exchange. Despite busy demands the nursing staff- All of them, I would like to name them- were outstanding examples of highest quality of medical care.I was dealt with promptly and sensitively , almost as if I was a member of family. All documentation. the procedure benefits and risks were all explained calmly to me. I was talked through the actual procedure with nurses also constantly checking and reassuring me. What a credit to that Department and Gartnavel Hospital.

I had a colonoscopy here. Although not what you'd choose if you had a choice, the staff were brilliant. They made me feel human, cared for and were supportive throughout. Gartnavel should be very proud of their facilities such as the mobile Endoscopy Unit. A shining crown in the NHS....many thanks Brian T

Had my Collagen Crosslinking surgery today with the lovely Dr Deepa Anijeet. Honestly cannot thank all of the nurses working in pre op, surgical admission and in particular ward 1C post op enough for their hands on care and calming nature. Everybody in the eye department is an absolute credit to the NHS. You all work so hard and it is so deeply appreciated. The hospital was also spotless. Thank you.

Special thanks to nurse Sara who guided me through my stay and tea and toast person, Callum, who was an absolute star and made canula removal a pleasure. P.S. He also went out of his way to find my husband!

Medical staff excellent. Nursing and support staff very hard working and cheerful. The food was pretty awful. Very small portion sizes, limited vegetables, peculiar options that were clearly not nutritious. obviously designed to meet a low budget. The wet rooms were dreadful compared to QE. Very poor design. 5c is a winter ward that means no clock, no tv and no radio! Patients in adjacent ward suffering from dementia not pleasant for other patients with them wandering around confused. In general the building is very 70s and in places looks dilapidated. Toast unavailable cos staff run off their feet.

Visited everyday for 3 weeks for radiotherapy. Clean, friendly and helpful. Full of people going the extra mile. Yes there were brief delays when an emergency took precedence as you might expect. Parking is virtually impossible , the train is great if you can walk a 1 or 200 yards easy to get to Queen street or Central station and beyond

My mum has been in ward 3C for 7 weeks now and we had a very rocky start due to one nurse who we put an official complaint in about. Since then I can’t fault the ward at all. They have been great with my mum, she loves the nurses to bits. Her care has been first class and her stay has been made so much easier due to the staff. The ward sister Gemma is exactly what you would want from a ward sister, she’s an angel.
