I
can
think
of
only
one
word
to
describe
this
hospital
and
my
recent
visit:
adequate.
Not
a
glowing
recommendation,
but
not
a
warning
to
stay
away
either.
The
first
thing
every
outpatient
and
visitor
should
be
aware
of
is
that
parking
is
extraordinarily
difficult
with
very
limited
spaces
available.
It's
a
good
job
I
arrived
45
minutes
before
my
appointment
time,
as
it
took
40
of
those
minutes
to
find
a
space.
I'd
recommend
using
public
transport
to
get
to
the
hospital
or
arriving
very
early
if,
like
me,
you're
coming
from
so
far
outside
the
area
that
a
car
is
the
only
option.
Once
I
was
parked,
everything
up
to
my
appointment
went
smoothly.
A
very
helpful
gentleman
stationed
directly
inside
the
door
-
a
volunteer,
I
think
-
gave
me
directions
so
succinct
that
only
an
imbecile
would
have
failed
to
get
to
where
they
needed
to
be.
Upon
my
arrival
the
receptionist
was
extremely
pleasant
and
the
waiting
room
was
surprisingly
comfortable.
My
wait
was
not
a
long
one.
I
wasn't
seen
exactly
on
time,
but
given
the
state
of
the
NHS
I'm
not
going
to
complain
about
the
eight
minutes
I
had
to
wait
beyond
my
appointment
time
-
in
some
hospitals
I've
visited,
an
hour
or
two
past
the
appointment
time
would
be
considered
"prompt".
So,
why
only
three
stars?
My
appointment
was
for
an
ultrasound
guided
biopsy
of
a
lump
on
the
side
of
my
neck,
most
likely
an
enlarged
lymph
node,
but
I'd
already
had
an
ultrasound
and
the
results
were
inconclusive,
so
a
biopsy
was
necessary.
However,
when
I
was
taken
in
I
was
immediately
told
by
the
lady
performing
the
ultrasound
that
she
was
in
a
hurry
-
something
about
needing
to
get
to
her
daughter's
school
by
2pm
-
and
therefore
would
only
be
performing
another
ultrasound
and
I'd
have
to
return
for
my
biopsy
at
a
later
date.
Given
that
I
had
to
travel
for
three
hours
from
my
home
in
Argyll
to
attend
the
appointment
and
was
hoping
that
a
biopsy
would
give
me
peace
of
mind,
I
was
more
than
a
little
displeased.
However,
when
I
voiced
my
concern
I
was
told
that
I
could
have
the
ultrasound
only
or
go
away
and
she
would
say
that
I
failed
to
attend,
which
would
put
me
back
on
the
waiting
list
and
require
another
referral
from
my
consultant.
As
a
result
of
this
negligent
and
unprofessional
behaviour,
I
was
forced
to
make
the
journey
again
three
weeks
later
to
have
the
procedure
done
at
another
hospital.
Fortunately,
it
was
just
an
lymph
node
and
nothing
to
worry
about,
but
I
had
three
additional
weeks
of
stress
waiting
for
the
results
and
incurred
another
Β£100+
in
travel
costs
all
because
she
wanted
to
leave
work
early.
She
is
very
lucky
it
wasn't
something
more
serious
as
her
conduct
would
have
resulted
in
a
delay
in
treatment
for
me
and
for
her
more
than
just
a
formal
complaint.
A
nice
hospital,
but
an
atrocious
experience.
