My daughter was there for treatment and I must say was treated very well until she decided she didn't want the major procedure they wanted to do, I felt and both felt they washed their hands of her after she said no to a major life changing operation.. I as her mum in the whole time travelling to there felt no support when there and had to fight each time for a family room to stay with my daughter as we were travelling from the North of Scotland every time by train and my mum was in hospital battling motor neuron disease. My daughter did pass away and it has honestly taken me a long time to get this off my chest Im sorry but I feel my daughter was just a number and I was honestly treated like I wasn't anything at all, In 2010 when the weather was really really bad and the was a major derailment where the rail lines were blocked we fought for my daughter to get her treatment in raigmore instead of risking the roads on a bus which they told us to do, they put on a patient transport ie an elderly gentleman in a hatchback car to travel from North of Scotland. We did that and believe me we were terrified but we got there. My daughter then told them that she was refusing the operation offered and guess what she was told,,, you can have your treatment in raigmore after this,, basically bye bye.. They all thought she was going to be some experiment and when she said she wasn't going to be the willing party in this it was ok bye,, still after 11 yrs I'm not bitter but shocked and disgusted..

We've experienced mostly excellent care however I'd like to see the consultants develop a more personal bedside manner and better communication skills. Sometimes results are not shared and sometimes questions go unanswered. We'd like copies of blood results and we were pretty much told they are not set up to do that. I believe it is important for patients to have full access to their medical documents especially when the poor haemotologists seem to be very busy and overloaded. I'd feel more at ease having my loved ones medical records as more eyes on results the better to ensure mistakes are never made as these doctors are very busy. Would also be helpful to have enough parking spaces so patients do not have to arrive an hour early to snag one. Cancer takes up enough precious time as it is.

After reading the negative reviews I am sorry but I have to stick up for the staff and the hospital. During my six months stint with chemotherapy and radiotherapy all the nursing staff were excellent and the medical staff went above and beyond the call of duty in some cases. My mum passed away with cancer just before my diagnosis but she too was kept in the loop by all her medical team as to what was happening. Brilliant hospital, fantastic staff and no complaints.

The staff at the Beatson Cancer Care Scotland centre are doing a very difficult job with an extraordinary amount of patients in and out all day long, these people are saving our lives, they occasionally make mistakes, maybe some of the Doctors don’t have an amazing bedside manner, I’ll grab that with both hands if they give me the bast possible treatment, come on let’s look at the bigger picture none of the staff are going out of there way to upset you, let’s give thanks to the staff and this amazing facility helping to fight this awful illness

My wife and I are watching the BBC documentary and it brings back memories of wonderful staff in the clinical trials department where my wife and daughter visited every Wednesday. This was a HAPPY place not doom and gloom by any means, when they went there they met so many wonderful staff and made so many wonderful friends still to this day. Every Wednesday one of the visitors accompanying a patient had a great singing voice so they all had a great sing song, with other joining in, many laughed and said is it gin in the infusion instead of chemo. A truly truly wonderful place.

My uncle has ongoing treatment at the moment. I ,in all honesty cannot say enough good things about the staff. As painfull as his treatment is, the nurses and doctors help to make it just a wee bit more bareable. I will never be able to thank them enough.

Ward B7 staff couldn’t have been better, very friendly and knowledgeable. Out patients in ward B8 and B9 couldn’t have been worse. Rude nurses with a superiority complex. Would rather watch the tv than actually deal with patients, then despite the rest of the hospital being fine with visitors since some people drive hours to get there for a two hour appointment, they seem to make up the rules as they go. A ward full of useless lazy Karen’s.

Staff are great but the waiting time for your appointments and the pharmacist are papal ing you can spend 4 hours hanging about for 10 minutes with the consultants .I have to get someone to bring me up so they have to wait 4 + hours as well. The consultants should have numbers allocated and patients take a ticket for the consultant as obviously appointments are not working i am always left to be taken 1hour 30 mins after it's time I am booked for. Then I have to wait from 1>2 hours for pharmacy which is no joy bearing in mind I have a 50 mile round trip. Regards Sandra Fleming

Let's just say that some of the consultants here could do with an improvement in their bedside manner

My mum attended and treatment started, after 4 months her condition worsened and she had a biopsy, to be told her cancer had been misdiagnosed and referred back to Crosshouse to start chemo with no further appointments at the Beatson required etc, we were told everything was going to be fine, as chemo would solve the problem, but so much time had been wasted. She passed away, 10 days after chemo started. 4 months after being told it was cancer, a long time after trying to get help to see a doctor in first place. Forever we have to live with the heartache of what went wrong. No support as a family.

Radiation isolation ...is not easy! But ward B3 staff have been incredible, so friendly, kind and attentive. They have helped the time away from my family a bit easier. Clocks went back last night and they don't get paid for that extra hour ..disgusting. although they were still happy to bring me my coffee . Brilliant job guys ! Thanks so much . The hospital its self needs a little TLC. And radiation isolation could be made more comfortable by having own kettle and fridge like other similar set ups in the UK. The window is small feels like night time all day long . But it's small for a reason..I'm just happy to see a little day light. The beach scenery on my wall gives the room a sence of depth , well done who ever thought of that.

They have a lot of staff that comes there to have a laugh and a chat and mess about not to care for the patients. ( not talking about everyone but majority ) The people who bring coffee and tea are a million times better than those useless nurses they have. You press the buzzer ask for paracetamol or pain relief they take 50-60 minutes to bring it even thought it’s been hours and you are eligible to take another some nurses sit on the chair doing jack shxt and say we will bring it soon Happens with the person I am with everyday it’s ridiculous takes 1 minutes to bring the medicine needed to the patient , there’s only about 10 patients in the ward and there’s more nurses in the ward coming to just chill about. If by any chance due to delay something happens to them then who’s responsible for that??

Everyone involved in providing my cancer treatment are excellent. I'm treated with respect and it's always ensured that my dignity is intact. My only minor gripe is that there is not enough parking bays and you need to arrive 20-30 minutes early for your appointment to ensure you get parked in time.

Staff are fantastic , friendly and very helpful . Got lost twice inside , but maybe thats just me . Car parking is a nightmare outside , might be easier parking at the hospital car park and walking round .
