This is the worst practice ever and very rude and unhelpful staff, especially to the foreigners. I had to get a letter (kinda fit note) for my trip to Greece. They told me that they will not provide me with this letter becuase they will be required to do a laboratory blood test and for the random reason, they cannot do this test specifically for this letter. I told them this letter is similar to a fit note required by an employer. They would have to carry the same test if I am required the fit note. The practice manager is an extremely rude lady. She kept on saying that I should see a private GP for this test. I told her that being a foreigner I have already paid approx 2000 pounds for my medical insurance to NHS and then why I should go to a private GP. I asked her if she can show me the list of the services this practice does and does not provide. But kept on ignoring my question and ask me to talk to NHS. She hung up while I was on the call. The Greek embassy and my brother, who also works as GP in London, both told them my GP practice is responsible to provide me with this letter. I believe people at the reception are willing to help but they are restricted by their practice manager. Even the doctors there are extremely rude they won't listen to you and won't give you more than five minutes. Apart from all this, I am sure no one cares about the hygiene of this place. They why I notice why all the reviews on google about this practice are so negative. I will never ever recommend this practice to anyone for anything. Most of the people living there are foreigners and immigrants that's why they don't care about their patients. That's the symbol of racism.

In my humble opinion, Dr Saldanha is by far the best GP in this whole area.

I have been a patient here for the centres modern existence and several entities before that. At 71 years of age, words fail me for what passes as medical care. I don't know what doctors do all day there as its virtually impossible to get an appointment to see your GP. They are certainly not fulfilling their Hippocratic oath. You are on the clock, the moment you open your mouth to speak. Recently it has taken me over 2 weeks to get even a telephone consultation to discuss X Ray results and be advised of a possible treatment plan for a debilitating condition. It is glaringly obvious that NHS is badly broken but it is the fault of Governments not staff, especially those in hospitals. When phoning this centre, you cannot penetrate the ring of reception staff who though always polite are unqualified to answer some of the questions you need answered.Continuity from a designated person is ZERO and things have plumbed to the depths since covid which is used as the excuse for all manner of inefficiences. I have spoken to virtually every member of reception staff whilst waiting a disgraceful 5 weeks for X-Ray results, having to explain my case too many times from scratch to each staff member.I have waited up to 35 mins to get through on the phone to even attempt to make an appointment. You are bombarded with endless robot voices and muzak always terminating in your number in the queue. If you hang up and give up, you have achieved nothing. Personally, i have been pushed toward seeking private treatment at Ross Hall Centre, where you will most likely get the same consultants that you would on NHS without the interminable waiting time. Can someone explain why these doctors can find time for Private Appointments but none on NHS?? The answer is simply explained in one word... Money. It is a dreadful betrayal by this incompetent, self serving Tory Govt of elderly citizens who have paid a working lifetime of over 40 years in National insurance contributions. Can you imagine the fund you could have amassed if these contributions had been saved with interest, in the decades before rates crashed, into a personal health fund but we were promised we would never need that. Now at first time of asking at an advanced age, the promise is empty and your contributions meaningless. Believe me lives are at risk in this current situation which is worsening daily. There are obvious reasons why things are so bad but these would be deemed too controversial for this forum๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ž

very bad specially for foreigners staff will torture you .I been there to change doctor address in this area in practice b. receptionist there told me to bring address proof to register when I went there with address proof . then she ask me to bring address proof and passport or any photo id .I went back with documents with my passport and visa card as well but than she again asked me to bring my wage slip or latter from my accountant. when, I asked her to give me full detail what documents she need instead of asking everyday new document she got angry and said it is must to bring wage slip or accountant latter you just go and bring and refuse to give me in written . when I went back with all the documents with my accountant latter . the receptionist was not there and one of other staff member said you don't need to bring wage slip or accountant latter and he change my address without my accountant letter.

Very useless, I made appointment and turn 5 minutes before but I havenโ€™t been told I have to check in before my appointment, they refused to see me even there wasnโ€™t anyone and for Doctor wasnโ€™t calling anyone name. They said is not in their interest to make sure Iโ€™m in for my appointment. Refused also give me centre policy. Thatโ€™s how they treat patients, easier to get what you need from friends than from actual doctor ! Disgrace. On top of it they been told to make patient wait 2 weeks time. They are not busy

I arrived on time on my appointment, but just as I was about to check in, this receptionist picked up her phone and went on for at least 6 minutes, i didnโ€™t want to disturb the call so i patiently waited, once she was finally done I told her I was there for an appointment she simply went โ€œoh youโ€™re late, you need to re-book the appointment for like next monthโ€ excuse me? Who was late?? And then was met up with a โ€œthere is nothing I can do about itโ€ YOU DIDNโ€™T EVEN TRY, it was a horrible experience, I didnโ€™t want to shout or say it was HER fault and not mine as Iโ€™m no very good in social situations but it was so frustrating, she was extremely passive aggressive knowing well i wasnโ€™t to blame but just got dismissed and have t come back the next MONTH, I was mortified.

The Victoria practice, Govanhill. The Doctors are good once you get past the barrier of the reception. Some, not all, but some of the reception staff on the phone are abrasive, arrogant, pushy, rude & shouldn't be allowed to deal with the public. It let's the whole team down.

Most of my experience with this health centre are good. I like the fact that the chemist regularly checks to make sure that your medication is okay and you are receiving the best treatment. The doctors are good too particularly Doctor Rosie

Avoid this practice as a whole and change your GP practice. Honestly. It really is by far the worst health centre I have ever used. They live in the 80s. Edit: Is the response I just received from the legitimate owner/ the health centre or has the centre's page been hacked?

My experience with some of the staff at this health centre have been far from satisfactory. There is a clear need for serious training on INCLUSIVITY and DIVERSITY. The staff's consistent display of unprofessionalism, rudeness, and patronising behaviour has left me deeply dissatisfied. This is not an isolated incident; it's a recurring issue that has persisted for several years. Upon entering the facility, one can immediately sense an unwelcoming atmosphere. The staff, instead of being helpful, have been consistently dismissive and condescending. Unfortunately, this behaviour is not sporadic but rather a pervasive issue. Even more troubling is the apparent hint of racism in their interactions, particularly when dealing with minorities in the area. The questionable treatment of individuals from minority backgrounds is disconcerting and reflects poorly on the values (should be values) of the establishment. Healthcare providers should prioritise respect, empathy, and professionalism, regardless of a patient's background. Unfortunately, Govanhill Health Centre falls short in these crucial aspects. I sincerely hope they take immediate action to address these issues and implement sensitivity training for their staff. Considering that Govanhill Health Centre holds a significant presence in the area, it is disheartening to note the lack of alternatives. If there were more choices, I would strongly recommend considering alternative healthcare providers until Govanhill Health Centre addresses and rectifies these concerns. No one should have to endure such a negative experience when seeking medical care. Saying that, the doctors are nice and helpful, if you get to see them after dealing with the rudeness and unprofessionalism and insensitivity of the administration and reception.

Just a wee suggestion for the pharmacy, if change your working hours from 8:30 to 9:00 am then please update on the website or on Google. Half an hour is more important for people. Thank you.

This morning (27th Dec 2017) from 8.30am to 10.25am myself and my very ill girlfriend, using a phone each, both logged 415 attempts to get through to the surgery ...but not once getting through. Our only choice now is an A&E five miles away (I don't drive and my GF's vision is gone with her illness, so can't drive herself) ...so god only knows when a taxi will get here. Absolutely shocking.

Great practice. Two GPs in particular are worth a mention for their very caring, sensitive and professional service - Ruth McDonald and John Saldahna. Thanks for what you do. Don't change a thing. You have what many doctors lack - beside manner:)

You can be on the phone for hours just trying to get through, what are the receptionists doing? Are they hoping you either get tired of waiting to get through or actually die of your illness before they answer? Something is seriously wrong in this health centre.

Canโ€™t praise Practice B enough! Reception staff very helpful and went out their way for me to get me registered in time for a prescription review. Dr Brown was also super helpful and took steps to ensure I get said prescription on time!

Used to be fantastic, but probably due to cut - backs in the NHS, it's not just so good and you don't get more or even as much as 10mins for your appointment, but hey-ho that's the way it goes nowadays.
