AVOID
My
ex
partner
brought
our
6
year
old
Border
Collie
here
with
a
stick
stuck
in
his
throat
at
approximately
8pm.
She
was
advised
that
due
to
the
nature
and
potential
complications
of
the
injury,
they
would
be
instructing
their
specialist
team
to
undertake
the
surgery.
Before
she
could
even
process
this
she
was
being
told
to
pay
deposits
of
up
to
£2-3,000
and
asked
if
she
can
afford
the
surgery
or
if
the
dog
has
insurance.
The
following
morning
between
the
hours
of
8am-9pm
she
received
a
phone
call
advising
that
the
cost
of
this
surgery,
including
his
stay
overnight
would
be
in
the
region
of
£11,000
due
to
the
CT
scan
being
expensive.
She
told
them
that
this
amount
may
be
out
of
her
reach
so
questioned
what
her
other
options
were
and
she
was
advised
the
only
other
thing
to
do
was
to
put
the
dog
to
sleep!
I
work
in
the
medical
field
in
a
senior
management
position
and
know
that
CT
scans
can
be
expensive,
but
11k,
absolutely
no
way
should
it
be
anywhere
near
this!!
I
find
it
disgusting
that
they
didn’t
even
suggest
an
X-Ray
(cheaper
alternative)
when
they
knew
10k
may
not
be
an
option
at
that
point.
The
advice
given
was
CT
scan
and
specialist
team
or
euthanasia.
My
ex
partner
asked
me
for
financial
assistance
at
this
point
to
just
pay
this
so
they
could
give
him
treatment
as
by
this
point
he’d
been
laying
in
their
room
overnight
with
nothing
more
than
pain
relief
(not
even
an
antibiotic).
Instead
of
throwing
money
at
this
greedy
company,
we
decided
to
get
a
second
(and
third
and
fourth)
opinion
in
which
all
of
the
vets
were
very,
very
shocked
at
the
price
and
treatment
we’d
received.
Ultimately,
we
took
our
dog
to
the
Glasgow
University
Small
Pets
Hospital
where
he
got
two
CT
scans,
cameras,
antibiotics
etc,
and
a
specialist
team
to
look
after
him
and
all
that
was
required
was
the
stick
to
be
pulled
out.
A
simple
X-Ray
could
have
shown
that
the
stick
hadn’t
penetrated
anything
and
was
just
lodged
in
his
throat!!
We
paid
£2,000
for
the
full
treatment
elsewhere,
a
difference
of
£9,000.
This
is
for
the
exact
same
treatment
(with
even
more
CT
scans
and
better
surgeons).
Unfortunately
we
lost
our
dog
due
to
inflammatory
response
syndrome
after
the
stick
had
been
taken
out.
It’s
thought
that
this
happened
because
of
the
amount
of
time
he
waited
for
treatment
because
VetsNow
left
him
overnight
with
no
treatment
until
they
could
get
somebody
else
to
phone
us
in
the
morning
to
get
the
most
amount
of
money
they
could
out
of
us!
For
clarity,
they
left
him
in
a
room
all
night
with
a
stick
hanging
out
his
throat
with
not
as
much
as
an
antibiotic!
I
will
be
taking
this
further.
***Put
simply
for
those
who
don’t
want
to
read
this
long
review,
VetsNow
are
not
the
only
emergency
hospital
out
there.
Their
vets
are
no
better
than
those
elsewhere,
and
in
fact
probably
get
commission
on
what
they
sell
you.
Our
six
year
old
Collie
needlessly
died
because
of
their
negligence.
Go
elsewhere
at
any
costs.
Your
pet
will
be
safer
and
you
won’t
be
extorted.
You’ll
probably
find
your
local
vets
has
an
out
of
hours
service
-
double
check!!
