My regular gym for the past 2 years. Excellent range of machines, weights and circuit training area. Condition of equipment is excellent. Staff are always helpful and friendly. Place is clean. Pretty much all I want from a gym.

They are quite bad for powerlifting kit, only two benches, two Olympic racks with wood platforms, and two multi use racks, all of these are heavily used and seem to be the most used kit in the gym with waiting times increasing as the gym gets many more users. They could triple their offering and still it wouldn’t be enough, now you see signs up for powerlifting workshops but what’s the point? The gym is already at a breaking point of being inadequate for powerlifting so getting more and more members into it you’d think they would provide sufficient space and kit, maybe offer workshops on patiently queuing?

I recently joined this gym and I have to say that it has exceeded my expectations. The facilities are clean and well-maintained, with a wide range of equipment and amenities available. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and always willing to help with any questions or concerns. I also appreciate that the gym offers a variety of classes and programs, which keeps my workouts interesting and challenging. The atmosphere at the gym is also very motivating, with a positive and supportive community of members. Overall, I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a welcoming and well-equipped facility to help them achieve their fitness goals.

It is a bit of a gamble if you will be able to get a workout in or not, the ground floor weight area is excessively used and there clearly isn’t enough kit, while it seems they devote far more space to rarely used equipment like the push sled than they do for their weight lifting and Olympic lifting area which is used by far the most - more people of all ages, abilities, and genders are getting more into weight lifting and this gym doesn’t provide adequate kit or space for their most used areas

Amazing idea. Bad execution in some vital areas. + great entry and exit mechanism (tested morning, afternoon and late evening) + wide range of equipment on offer. + open and clear layout. - not enough handheld weights in the most commonly used range. - Not enough toilets; and those available in bad condition. More regular cleaning required. - machines not clean (although self cleaning is the way of this type of establishment, it’s safe to say that most people are not observing this request…) - awkward contract exit process involving a threatening leather form a collections service (which I was told to ignore) - source of my 2022 Covid19 experience.

Lovely place and I'm always feeling welcome. I've been training with Jack for a long time now and his effort for making me fit is awesome!! I really love working out with him, his knowledge and the guidance he's providing through my strength training sessions have been amazing!

Overall, good gym with nice facilities. The staff are really friendly and helpful. However, I wish the class timetable included the instructors' names as there are some I like better than others, and it would be nice to know who's teaching the class when I sign up. Also, it would be great if they could offer more 45-minute or even hour-long classes. With most of their classes being only half an hour, by the time you warm up and cool down, you're really only getting a 20-minute work out.

Overcharged me on direct debit for many months, won't respond to my emails. Cancelled my direct debit after payment, and now my membership has been cancelled even though I have already paid until the end of the month?? I don't care what the terms and conditions say, scummy move.

Very good range of equipment, clean and tidy. Nice layout as well with different areas, so you don't feel like the whole gym is watching you, which is good for more shy or self conscious people. PTs are friendly and approachable as well. Excellent value, I honestly haven't got a clue why you'd spend nearly three times as much on a membership with Anytime Fitness. This gym is in the same area, is also open 24 hours, and is well equipped.

Tried a few gyms and never really felt at home. First day in the gyms west end location, I ran into Sean the PT and he helped me set up a plan to achieve my goals. 10 months later and I am seeing results and feel so much more confident in my body. Cheers Sean 👏🏻

Lovely, clean gym in a great location! Jack, my PT is the most devoted, invested and honest PT I’ve ever worked with! Your progress is his main priority and he tailors your programme to your needs and goals! You will 100% see and feel a result if you’re committed to it! Highly recommend!

I spend a lot of time here and have toned my physique impressively. The classes are great! Gary has been a great help towards me achieving my goals, offering muscle growth classes which also boost cardiovascular health as well as opportunities to stretch and lengthen muscle groups. Thanks Gary Tao! Best wishes Gym Group, Aaron 💪🏽😎

I’ve been using The Gym Group West End for several months now with the help from Sean one of the Gym’s Personal Trainers who I couldn’t recommend more. Sean is passionate about what he does and can’t do enough to help and understand what your long term goals are. The gym is a fantastic place to train with all the equipment you need. I’ve used more expensive gyms in the past but The Gym Group really doesn’t disappoint at all! If you’re interested in joining and looking for some help and support no matter what level you are at make sure you ask for Sean.

I really like this gym. It has a relaxed vibe, a good range of machines, enough equipment even during busy times, it's clean, staff are really friendly and ready to help anytime, my PT Sean is a star - all in all, a really positive experience. All these things combined mean that I actually go to the gym, rather than just having a membership to make myself feel better!

Visiting from NYC and have been going to gyms for the past 25+ years. I paid about $20 for a 3 day pass which was great value. The space was clean, spacious, and well-equipped. High ceilings and large square footage made it feel airy and comfortable. Air conditioning worked well and no rust on the equipment. The cardio options were treadmill, bike, and stair stepper. Surprisingly, I couldn’t find any ellipticals. The weight options were mostly free weights, bars, and cables. It was definitely designed by/for serious lifters, i.e., powerlifters. Lots of power racks, squat platforms, and deadlift stations. Plenty of cable stations too, which is usually limiting in these gyms. Not too much extra fluff in terms of machine weights, stretching stations, pools, sauna, etc. I debated giving 4 stars because of the limited extras however I was too impressed with the price and the free weight options. Overall, I would say it’s a great place for people who like to use free weights and not so good for those who do the machines.

Excellent gym. Been coming here for a few months with PT Danny. Friendly staff on hand to help out with any issues. Good range of equipment. Gets busy at peak times like any gym but not as bad as some.

This is a fantastic gym that has been my staple for years now. Mainly down to the fact of the central location off Byres road, the space, quality of gym equipment and the most welcoming staff. I have also been personal trained by Gary (Tao Fitness) during my time here, who I highly recommend from beginners to advanced! Also must mention Jack and Stefano who are other PTs there and have always been supportive/offered advice and great to chat to. Best gym best value.

Joined the gym group after recommended by a friend, and that has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made this year. The spacious gym is very well equipped, providing a comfortably space for each individuals to work independently. Most importantly, the friendly staff are always willing to help, which made the gym environment cheerful and welcoming. It’s only been a few weeks since I’ve started my personal training with Scott McKenzie (highly recommend). Results are showing in a steady rate which I am extremely happy about. He is enthusiastic and positive in every training session which brought a huge impact in my gym journey! Overall, I highly recommend this gym and don’t be afraid even if you’re a beginner!

Great gym with truly motivational & customer friendly staff. Also fantastic facilities and good value. I know Scott since last 10 years and he always goes above and beyond as one to one personal trainer but also if you want to just come and do your own workout. I feel welcomed as a friend which in turn encourages me to return and work hard for maximum results. Highly recommended 👌.

The gym is spotless, exceptionally large, and well equipped. The gym group has extremely affordable monthly costs, but they do lack a punch bag, which is a letdown because other gyms do. Sean, the personal trainer have been working with for the past 6 months, Is friendly and flexible, and he always makes sure I have a beneficial workout. I would absolutely recommend the gym to anyone the gym to anyone looking for a good local workout. Please don't come to the gym if you're going to sit on your phone as this is extremely annoying for other members.

Fantastic gym!!! Has everything you need, if you prefer when it’s quiet (like me) you can track capacity on the gym group app so you can go at your suited times. Also, really clean and classes are great fun if you like working out with others!! Garry Tao has been my personal trainer for 3 years now and he has been extremely professional, understanding of my circumstances and makes working out fun while also helping me build my confidence, strength and discipline.

My experience with Gym Group has always been great. The West End gym is well maintained and conveniently located, with a nice and welcoming atmosphere. I would also like to thank Garry, since he has been an amazing PT! He introduced me to fitness world and has been a great help in reaching my goals. Would recommend his services to anyone.

moved to this gym from the university gym and i have to say that it’s been leagues better. a nice variety of equipment, friendly and welcoming atmosphere, it’s quiet most of the time so you won’t have issues with business and it’s awesome value for money

Great environment created by clientele and staff. Positive, friendly and serious attitude among gym users plus fantastic help from Sean and the rest of the staff. Only there for a day while visiting family but absolutely ideal for my needs (basic compound stuff/Olympic lifts). Lots of squat racks in a spacious and uncluttered area. Recommend without hesitation and happy to have found a place to use when I'm in town.

The Gym Group Glasgow is the nicest gym I have been in in Glasgow, including other Gym Group gyms. It has the nicest equipment, friendly staff, and a friendly clientele and atmosphere. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a gym and would recommend Cal McCann as a PT.

It can get really busy, but ultimately it is a good gym, all the equipment you would need and personal trainers if you need them.

  • 5/5 Concerned C. 1 year ago on Google
So far, so good. Physically - It's a spacious and well-equipped facility located in a beautiful and vibrant area of the city. The gym appears clean, the equipment is functioning, and I assume this is because of their hard work. Atmosphere - Its members are mostly private individuals, who are there to train hard and not really socialise, which suits me. The personal trainers are visible, but they are not intrusive. At this stage, I can confidently say I can come here, work out comfortably without having to worry about personal trainers coming over and harassing me about my alleged poor form, bad body shape or badly organised gym routine. At this gym, there are no big egos and no sycophantic salesmen. There is none of that nonsense at this branch. Well done.

All you need in a gym. I found my personal trainer, Joanna Tryala here. She's absolutely phenomenal. High energy, knows her stuff, extremely personable and gets results.

Great place. It's clean; equipment is up to date, staff are always helpful and friendly. The only downside is that it can get busy and you might not be able to do your workout routine at peak times.

Sure it's a brand new gym, but they offer no spray bottles to wipe down equipment with and when I asked if they was going to be any provided in the future I got told it was a budget gym so no, apparently hygiene is a luxury feature, which I won't mind paying for elsewhere (also they advised I use a dry towel...Yeah that'll kill the germs)

  • 5/5 anna a. 4 years ago on Google
Great budget gym with amazing staff. I’ve done a few classes and an induction and the trainers are motivating, informative, and friendly. It would be made better with sanitizer spray to wipe down machines, but other than that it’s a great value.

😠 I have had the worst treatment by the staff here. I came with my two year old daughter and wanted to use the little shallow pool. 😠 I started using this gym as it is the only Ladies only gym I could find.
