Tinderbox Espresso Bar

Cafe Coffee shop

😐 The drinks and food were nice. The woman who served us however (Wednesday 5th April, afternoon), should not be customer facing or work on her attitude. She was cold, aloof and bad mannered (tall with American accent, as I do not want everyone to be tarnished with the same brush). Very poor customer... People often mention coffee, staff,

Lukewarm coffee and stale croissants - when we pointed out the latter (it was 10.30am and the croissant was clearly from yesterday) it was not replaced but merely burnt on the griddle. Still stale afterwards!

Lovely environment, good coffee, nice service. I asked for a coffee they did not normally sell (but they could easily make) and they were happy to make it for me. The prices are also reasonable. So, an easy 5-star! 🙂

Visited specifically for the excellent Empire Biscuits. Unfortunately, they were not excellent on this occasion, being pretty soft and a bit soggy. Very dissappinted.

We made a return to Tinderbox after 8 years away from Glasgow, a place we used to frequent regularly. It looked and felt like we had never been away. As in, nothing changed at all. As a result, it was a bit tired and needing some tlc but the usual quality of coffee and service stood out. Food was ok, nothing special but good all the same. Wasn't too busy inside, so we managed to get a seat for the 5 of us. A shame it hasn't moved on or been refreshed as it's a lovely spot in Princes Sq and it's great coffee, with a cracking team. Top tip, you can get an escalator from Buchanan St all the way to the top level. It's in the middle of the two walkway entrances.

Came here yesterday for a quick coffee stop on our shopping day. It was VERY hot up here! I understand its a bit of a greenhouse in the Princes Sq, but I think more air conditioning is needed. The systems were down and the tills were only taking cash, but it took forever to try and sort it, by that point sweat was running down our backs because it was so hot. Not the fault of staff though, they were working hard to help customers. I asked for an iced latte which turned out to be hot coffee with ice in it, so took ages to cool down. I also ordered 2 cannoli's, the unit they were in clearly wasn't refrigerated so the fillings had melted, they were warm and soft which was not appetizing at all.

We visited Tinderbox in Princes Square in Glasgow and my partner hadn't been so I was very excited to introduce the concept to him about how it works as he hasn't had loose tea before, we scanned the menu and we liked that there was a good range of different teas to suit everyone's needs, I personally went for the peppermint flavour and I did like that next to the sugar section there were drops of honey which enhanced the peppermint flavour. You get the choice of sitting inside or outside on the balcony and it's quite busy too. If you are inside you get the benefit of using their power outlets to charge your devices while relaxing and enjoying the cup of tea. The staff here are very knowledgeable and are always happy to educate you about the different teas and encourage you to try something new.

Stopped for a cuppa and a cake. They got our order wrong. Waited ages just to get tea and cakes put on a tray. The empire biscuit was falling apart although the icing was brick hard. Don’t think I’ll be back. Was like this before but I was giving them another chance. Such a shame as west end one amazing!

What this place lacked in atmosphere and choice of food, it thankfully made up for with the quality of the coffee. The server was friendly but the music was terrible (think lift music circa 1970) and some of the food options were not available so we would not return. Not the servers fault, he was doing his best with what he had to work with.

Can sit in - our "outside" in Princex Square. Great place to catch up for a cappo.

Order a soya cappuccino and a vegan gypsy cream. Cappuccino was decent but the gypsy cream was the best I've ever tasted.. lighter than any I've ever had before. I also got a magic bag from toogoodtogo which had a great selection of toasties and cakes. I sat in the outdoor seating area. There was onlt one other customer outside but lots of uncleared tables which stopped from a 5 star rating.

Excellent place with good seating arrangements. I have been here a few times and overall experience is also down to cafeteria staff. Sometimes I found delightful people and sometimes not so much :)

I’m sorry to write this review. The coffee is average in here. Place to sit is great Staff is hit or miss and that’s one of the reason why I rated this coffee shop very low. Years ago the staff were great and positive. This time I feel like if I was speaking to a robot and I was not even listened to. Please train your staff as tinderbox was better than that. Thanks

I love coming here, it’s always pretty busy but there is plenty of seating. Staff cope really well with business which is great! Always really friendly too. Prices are a bit steep but can’t complain because that seems to be the case every where - competitive prices.

Drinks were ok..staff didn't help to carry a heavy tray to our table and laughed when we did as it was wobbling, not very professional! The cream on hot chocolate tasted a bit sour and the hot chocolate was just average, pan au chocolate straight from a packet definetly not fresh or baked in store?? Wouldn't go back, there's better cafes in Glasgow by far.
