Lovely museum (especially if you are into tractors etc!) the old machinery is really interesting to read about and see!! The park is brilliant. Lots to do and nice benches to sit in. The shop is lovely. We attended for the woolly weekend, the kids were thrilled. The petting zoo was wonderful and the staff were amazing. We’ve taken the tractor up to the working farm before and that was fun. You have to book this when you go in on the weekend as it’s busy. Admission price gets you an annual pass 🤩will be back soon I’m sure !!

Went with my 2 year old grandson. When we arrived it was raining so we had a look round inside of museum. Once we did this we played in the park until it was time for our tractor ride (which he loved) up to the farm. He enjoyed seeing the animals and was really taken with the grandfather clock inside the farmhouse. He really enjoyed his visit and tbh would have happily spent the day riding up and down on the tractor!! We have bought the annual pass so we can go again.

A great day out for adults, children etc. loads to see in the museum and farm is a 5 minute tractor ride or 20 minute walk, maybe more animals would be nice. Ticket lasts a year so return visits are possible.

Not been here for some time and the place has be refurbished since the last time I visited many years ago. The building is of course magnificent. I came here not for the sports but the museum collections. Housed in the Kelvin Hall is a collection resulting from a partnership between the National Library of Scotland and other Glasgow museums. Kelvin Hall now provides a shared collections storage facility with public access called the Kevin Hall Open Collection. So now housed in this one building are the National Library's digital and moving image collections, collections from the Hunterian and other Glasgow Museums. Nice place to to spend an afternoon of eclectic museum collections

We took our son as he is fascinated with tractors and animals at the moment. He loved being on the tractor trailer going up to the farm. But when you get there it's a struggle to fill the half hour before getting the tractor back down. Maybe if it was really busy it would have taken longer to see everything. But it was quiet and we went round it all in 20mins even with our son walking most of it. The main building is really interesting but again not a great deal to see. We would have spent longer in the park area, but unfortunately it started raining. The cafe is quite good with a good selection of things. The toilets are also good with good facilities for changing children. I would bring my son back. But many in a few years.

A grand day out with the grand kids. A lovely place right on our door step, and a place we will return to. The staff at the museum and the farm were just great. Take a picnic and make the most of the good weather and idyllic setting. There are picnic tables in the children's park and a lovely spot on the way up to the farm. Great day out for everyone.

10 pound for year long access gives this welcoming, interesting and thoroughly enjoyable museum the 5 stars. Haven't tried the cafe yet tho!

I visited this place on Friday and it was not too crowded, only some visitors at the museum. Good for kids to learn about farm. I visited the barn too, it is 15 min walk from the museum and I could see horses, pig, cute calves, coos, hen and sheeps. Easily accessible by public transport which run every 15 mins.

Great place to visit when looking for a quiet day away from the city. Lots of walking space, lots of greenery and farm animals. Perfect for a picnic!

An absolutely incredible museum of what basically built Scotland. From the earliest farming methods to the most recent, the collection is wonderful. But being attached to a working farm, with horses, cattle, sheep and pigs - it is incredible. We saw recently calved cows and piglets - it was an amazing place. A must see, if you have kids.

The museum and farm were wonderful. Our farm animal obsessed toddler was over the moon with our morning. We started off through the museum having wondering through the one way system. There were lots of big tractors and animals in pictures. We moved on quickly for a walk up the to the farm. We were informed that the tractor was not running at the moment but we had excellent weather so this was fine. We stumbled across pigs, cows and sheep before reaching the farm where we saw piglets, lambs, hens and a couple of horses and Highland cattle. The farm was lovely and by the time we started walking home, I had a toddler asleep in my arms. The picnic area was open but the playground was not as they were resurfacing. The cafe was open with a green circle on the outside window if there was and a red circle if they were full. We didn't use the café. We now have an annual membership so we will be back.

First visit to the museum and farm. Great for seeing how a working farm runs. Very educational for the kids. Large picnic area next to the kids play Park. Didn't have time to visit the cafe but will definitely try it at my next visit. Price is great, especially for the yearly pass which we got a good deal on. The museum part was great for all ages too. Can't wait to go back!

Really nice day out. Museum itself is nice and has interesting items but honestly not a lot to see compared to other museum. I loved seeing the animals outside and went to the farm and saw lots of other animals and also a live demonstration of sheep shearing. Overall worth a visit.

The Kelvin Halls Open Collection is an incredible combined open-access research and storage facility made possible through the partnership of Glasgow Museums, Glasgow University Hunterian Museum and the National Library of Scotland. Housed in the lovingly refurbished Kelvin Hall, visitors are able to view the items from the Glasgow Museums' Collection and the Hunterian Collection which are not on display in the respective museums. The facility is also home to the National Library of Scotland's Digital Collections which include the entire Moving Image Archive and access to all digitised resource materials such as newspapers and maps, etc. The Open Collections has good disabled access and a pretty decent cafe with views over the River Kelvin. A befitting inheritor to the much loved Transport Museum which used to be housed there (now re-branded as the Riverside Museum at its new home downstream the Kelvin where it meets the Clyde)! 5*****

We visited the Museum this past weekend with the family and it was superb. Plenty for the grand children to see, especially the tractor ride. They have lots of out door space which is a bonus with picnic benches and a play park. We had lunch in the Cafe which was a delight. Lots of choice on the menu, especially the children’s options for fussy eaters! My husband is celiac and this was catered for precisely which we don’t find often. Great to see using locally brewed Coffee & Tea. All in all, a great day out.

Amazing staffs and costumer service. We enjoy the visit very much. The farm animals are amazing and the main museum building is beautiful. Location-wise: a bit far from city centre and not easy to go without a car.

Amazing day out, all of the staff were friendly, approachable, and accommodating. The site was spotless, and the staff obviously take very good care of the property as I saw one staff member rush to pick up some dropped tangerine at the bus stop which was half hidden in dirt as soon as she saw it!

Loved it. I have a 2yr old so it kept him busy in the morning. By time we walked upto the farm and tracker back we unfortunately didn't get to see the rest but that's why I'm happy for the yearly ticket so we can just go again and again ☺️

Such a great day for our nearly 2 yr old. She loved stroking the lambs, seeing the cows get milked and sitting on the tractor in the play park. Great selection of food for wee ones and adults in the cafe too. Great day out and lovely building too!

Quite a nice place, the museum is great with lots of old tractors and farming stuff and even a part of a water mill. But the tractor ride to the farm was the high point for my daughter. In the farm there were lots of animals including baby sheep and cows. And the old farmhouse is lovely. Great place to go again.

Probably the only chance to see what was billed as the most complete 67 million year old t rex skeleton in the world, there was lots of interactive exhibits which my daughter enjoyed and there was lots of information about t rex 🦖, the entry fee was really steep, I paid £22 for me and my 6 year old daughter, £14 for an adult and £8 for a child, there was no free parking either

Had a lovely visit today with pupils from an ASN school. The staff were helpful and friendly throughout the whole museum and farm. The pupils enjoyed the tractor trailer ride to the farm. It was great to get close to pigs, piglets, cows and calves snd tour the farmhouse. We were given a room with tables for our snack and lunch time which was clean and tidy, this is fantastic for our pupils.

Great museum with a working farm attached that is a small tractor ride away. There's a lot of information and things to see and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There's a large carpark with plenty of space and accessibility all around the site. There's a small shop & cafe which is great and some interactive treasure hunting for kids with an outdoor play area as well. The working farm has a museum farm house and areas to see the working farm in action with animal about too.

Like many people to my shame I did not realise this fantastic museum existed. The museum is well presented the staff are very polite helpful and eagerly awaiting to pass on their knowledge to you. The farm house is a beautiful time capsule but strangely feels very inviting. The staff in attendance here dare you to test their knowledge and are so interactive to the visitor. Heading back to the museum and the restaurant, the staff are very pleasant and can present a fantastic sandwich 🥪 😀. I recommend all ages to visit this museum for a great experience in rural life of that time.

We have just returned from a great visit to the museum & farm. Our grandaughters had a whale of a time. Reception staff are lovely as well as the cafe staff. Only negative, the tea brand in the cafe is not so good. The tractor wasnt in action today, but even the walk to the farm & back was an adventure.Keep up the good work, its such a fabulous place for all the family. Thank you.

Brilliant place, staff were so pleasent. Really reasonably priced and can go back for free for the next year. There's a small park with a tractor on outside museum where you get the tractor ride up to farm. You can pet some of the animals. Walk back down from the farm as there are horses, Highland cows ect to be seen. Enjoy..... We did ?

  • 5/5 Lisa H. 6 years ago on Google
Excellent facility in great grounds. The museum is interesting and full of farm machinery and tools from throughout the years. Special events are fantastic and great for kids. There is an outdoor park and the tractor ride up to the working farm is fun (and bumpy). You can see pigs, horses, cows and so on. Old farm house is good for the kids also.

  • 5/5 John A. 4 years ago on Google
Excellent place to spend three or four hours. The history of farming is contained in this excellent museum. There is the museum building, Jam packed full interesting objects, then there's the farm buildings and house a ten minute or free tractor ride away, bequeathed to the national trust all in rich farmland. Plenty of puzzles for the old and young to try out and an excellent Cafe and gift shop. Prices recently changed now a great bargain. I come here often.

A good place to visit but I suggest wearimg wellies as can be muddy, lots to see in the museum and at £8 entry for adults that gets you admission for a whole year!! The free tractor ride upto the farm was brilliant and my kids loved it, sadly no pictures of the great farm as my phone battery died. Toilets and cafe area and wheelchair access all here.
