Really nice piece of sculpture. Deserves a better location but it’s a fitting testament to the Cameronians

This war memorial is situated in Kelvingrove Park, at the entrance to the car park of Kelvingrove Art Gallry. It honours the Cameronians, formerly a Scottish Regiment of the British Army. The statue depicts three figures of soldiers, one in a trench firing his Lewis machine gun, another wounded atop the trench and the figure in the centre bravely advancing out over the top. A worthy memorial and nice to see that it's always kept clean and tidy

Extraordinary dynamic memorial sculpture, up with the Iwo Jima memorial. One soldier fights to control his machine gun Another soldier is raging as he charges forward A third lies dead, head in the mud, neck broken, to be avenged by his comrades. RIP to all soldiers, including my grandpa and his brother, both Cameronians.

Well-maintained, sculpture which shows a sergeant going over the top, symbolizing Victory. On his right is the dead body of a young officer, symbolizing Sacrifice. A gunner covers the advancing troops with gunfire and, in the words of the artist, shows the "determination to succeed... for which our men were so remarkable".

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Imposing and decorative fountain. Could do with a little clean up but is well framed in it’s surroundings and if you look at the detailing it’s quite a work of art. Not dissimilar to the best works seem abroad in places like Rome. Well worth a visit.
