Small museum with lot of local history and knowledge, nice small cafe, friendly and helpful staffs. Big lifts can fit 2 wheelchair users to access each floors (3 floors), free admission.

Brilliant museum with great information about the local area. Focus is on the magnificent Hamilton Palace, sadly demolished, former home of the Dukes of Hamilton. Wonderful plans on display to renovate the Mausoleum which is one of the few bits still standing. There are also some great displays about local industry and economy. The military history section dedicated to the Cameronian regiment is also fascinating and must be one of the only places in the country to have seven Victoria Crosses on show. Great place to spend an hour or two.

When I lived in Hamilton, this was a local museum for me and it was lovely, it was nice being able to explore the history of Hamilton and I liked that the place was always changing to adapt to the seasons. It's quite close to the Hamilton Central Train Station and it's an easy walk to the town centre.

The staff were all nice and helpful. The displays were interesting, especially the Tunnocks Tea Cake dress! There was a mini stage with some dressing up clothes. The kids had a great time.

Excellent museum showing military exhibits and lots of details of Hamilton Palace, built and owned by the original Hamilton family (It was the Duke of Hamilton whom Rudolf Hess surrendered to at the end of WW2). Very knowledgeable staff and a cheery tearoom upstairs. Well worth a half day visit at least plus a visit to the nearby Hamilton family Mausoleum with its own gems.

We took some memorabilia of Dad's national service time spent in Malaysia, and he'd trained at the barracks. They were delighted to take the stuff we had, and we were glad it would be saved forever.

Friendly welcome on arrival and a bit of information on what is going on . Plenty of exhibits to view and not overwhelming. An hour or two is easy and still more to take in for a second visit . Cafe is also good and would make a second visit . Nice array of things in the gift shop . Parking was easy .

Good friendly people, quiet, great food. It is also nice that it is an extension of the church, you can see the external wall and can pop into the church of you want to say a prayer or plan a wedding.

Cannot fault this place one bit. I've visited a couple times and on those 2 occasions, the same member of staff took us through the history of the place and the items in it. They have clearly worked there for some time and are really passionate about their work and history. It was a delight to see.
