Great place to understand the history of weaving in the local area. The cottage is split over a few levels with living and work areas. There is a lovely small garden at the rear and also a small shop selling a few items. The staff knew their subject and were very helpful.

Small weavers cottage and gardens. Only open at the weekend. Nicely maintained cottage spread over different levels. With main loom in the basement. Nice activity sheets for the kids ... look for the mice ... look for certain objects to engage and encourage asking questions. As with other national trust properties the staff were friendly and engaging and full of stories and interesting facts about the objects. The kids were given the chance to use the loom and wind some wool. Nice to cover an hour or so. Might be difficult with a bigger group as the rooms are narrow and quite small.

Fantastic experience for all the family. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and made sure to feel you are made very welcome. The cottage is magical and kept immaculately throughout giving a glimpse back in time to how our ancestors lived a few hundred years ago as the cottage dates back to the mid 1700s. The loom room is amazing and if you’re lucky you’ll get a go of history like we did in weaving a tartan on one of the modern looms in the cottage. The gardens are beautifully maintained. My smaller children loved playing with all the dress up items for children and the outdoor children’s toys of old. It was fab! I loved the tartan rag rugs that are also hand made in the cottage by the staff. The shop sells tartan made in the cottage and also shortbread!

Small but very well presented and interesting. Helpful staff. Our four and six year old kids spent two hours there quite happily, and even got a chance to try weaving on a real loom.

A neat place to catch a glimpse of weaving history. The history behind the loom is incredible combined with that of the cottage makes it one to visit again.

A great wee place to learn about the history of weaving in the local area and to see how people used to live. We were given a good explanation of the place and the family as well as a brief demonstration of the various looms they have on display, by one of the property staffs. It is definitely worth a detour if you are visiting Paisley.

Fascinating little local museum. Excellent place to spend an hour or 2, especially for kids. While the cottage is small, only 4 rooms or so + the gardens to visit there is a huge amount to see and learn. The loom room is the most fascinating part of the visit and if you are lucky you'll get to do a little bit of weaving, adding a couple of rows to this year's weaving sample and your name to the book. A huge commendation to the staff working there though as they really make the story of the cottage come to life and really helped the kids engage with the visit. Well worth a visit.

Tiny cottage, with just three small rooms and a garden - but brought to life by a wonderful personal tour. Allowed to have a go weaving on a loom as well!

Great museum, and Susanne and Mairi were very interesting and knowledgable! We enjoyed a couple of hours here, having driven past it many times, and are so glad we finally took the time to visit. Hannah, aged 11, was given lots of attention, and even had a turn at weaving. Thanks to National Trust, as ever!
