Overall shopping experience within East Kilbride Town centre has certainly dipped since the loss of the large clothing and home retailers. Too many large empty units now and to be frankly honest the whole place feels disjointed and has lost its identity now. Still some great places to eat such as Cova, and there is also the cinema which is a draw but IMHO the whole centre needs a rethink around identity, layout, customer journey etc

Having lived my childhood in East Kilbride I can remember how busy it was and how exciting the place is but when I went to take my partner to show what it is like I have to admit I was disappointed. It feels almost like a shell of what it used to be with a lot of the shops closed or emptied. It's a huge shopping centre with a variety of different places to go, it used to be a shopping centre that you could spend all day in but now it feels like you could walk through the place and be done after an hour of visiting.

I actively avoid going here due to parking fees. The same shops are in retail parks where you don't need to pay. Other shopping centres have free parking. Management are horrible and talk down to their workers. People without badges are looking at cctv. It's a shame that the centre won't last the next 10 years due to this lot. The only new shops opening are pop up Christmas shops and that's it. No reason to go here.

Went to Bistro 6 for breakfast. It was the best breakfast I have ever had. The produce used is of good quality, no greasy plates and all cooked fresh to order. Loved the idea of the beans being in a fried bread basket. I go here a lot when meeting friends for lunch and the food is always excellent and the staff are so friendly. Would definitely recommend a visit if looking for something nice to eat.

Feels like this place is slowly dying. Offering largely the same shops as you get on any major concourse, but with whiff of decay and general disrepair about it. I stay local but would rather go to Hamilton or Motherwell for their wider selection of charity shops and more unique offerings, like fabric, wool and craft shops, smaller local businesses etc.

Fantastic shopping mall, although a few shops have closed it can't be helped. Always loved going to ek over braehead. Only downside is......took all the chairs away! What's that about?

Such a shame. . . The refurbishment of other shopping centres and the new build Silverburn was another nail in the coffin for EK shopping centre. Once always busy is now a cemetery of shops which appears to be getting worse each visit. No longer any restaurants except for cafe's and a nandos situated now at the arse end of the centre likely to close as its always dead as I walk past. I am one of many who will sadly spend a fiver on fuel to travel to ailverburn or braehead for free parking rather than pay a pound to wander around an empty running down shopping centre. This place needs fortunes pumped into it, free parking provided and reduced rates to incised business back in to East kilbride which is a vastly growing town which seems to be losing all the trade to other locations.

The centre, and the connected Olympia (think it now has the pointless name of 'The Hub') have went from being a great place to shop, Eat etc to being largely empty. Lots of empty units, with Debenhams being the largest vacant space. A few good shops still remain, lots of parking and sometimes have activities for families and kids.

Like, all shopping malls unless you have variety and diversity of shops then it becomes a trudge to even go there As I walked through I walked past empty shops until you reach the usual ones Primark and other clothing shops then as you venture around the other part towards the bus station ( that's another story). Again more empty shops followed by charity shops and then the old favourite Iceland and farm foods so very depressing

It's OK, a good few empty shop The centre is possibly just too big, a redevelopment is maybe required, but that's big money.

Despite losing 2 large retail stores, East Kilbride shopping centre is still our preferred choice when my wife is in the need of some retail therapy, even though we do not live in East Kilbride. There is still a large variety of shops, food outlets, and entertainment venues. Parking spaces are plentiful and reasonably priced, and the main bus station is adjacent to the centre. There are also many toilet facilities available throughout the malls.

Lovely location and nice place, however shops are all shutting, fewer reasons to visit now. Even Next clearance has closed

First time I've been in EK centre for a while and, following the departure of Debenhams, it really seems to be on the downward slide I'm sad to say. Food court was OK with good variety.

Great location for foam dart thunder. But also when shops are open. Fine selection of shops and not to many closed units too.

It was good but hopefully over the next couple of years we will see a big difference with new housing and new shops coming back to the shopping mall😊

If you're a delivery driver. Refuse to deliver here. Honestly never been somewhere with such a lack of directions to the service yards and when you try and find help you're just met with a wall of silence. Somewhere with such a lack of respect for assisting those who are trying to stock the outlets here deserves to be in trouble. Ended up having to load through the main doors of the shopping centre on a Saturday afternoon and not one member of security was present to even challenge me or correct me as to where the service yards are located. This centre is very run down and lots of closed stores and more closing down, this perhaps could be a factor.

We have shopped here many times. A good shopping experience although like many shopping centres, the choice of shops are decreasing due to times we are living in!

I was shocked at how different the centre looks. I remember it being very busy, vibrant and a great place to go! Times are changing and online shopping is more popular.

  • 3/5 Tony B. 1 year ago on Google
Paid parking does not help but the high street will always struggle to compete with online shopping. Clothes, food and entertainment are the only likely survivors and EK tried the right thing with the food court regeneration but unfortunately never took off so has now snowballed into an unappealing place.

We dont visit EK very often and having grown up there its sad to see what it has become and i dont think i am alone with my view that since south lanarkshire clowncil took control it has deteriorated rapidly the once Proud bustling town centre is nothing more than a ghost town now full of charity shops, bookies pawn shops, nail bars and hair salons and cheap junk shops

A great shopping centre with a fantastic range of stores, everything you need toys to designer clothing food stores and outlets but also hosts activities like a climbing wall and ice rink, it has something for everyone

So many empty shops now it’s such a shame the shop i particularly wanted had closed down recently half the mall had no heating today so it was quite cold £3 for parking for the number of shops a bit expensive considering Silverburn and Braehead are free. Zuccas restaurant didn’t disappoint but it was cold in there had to eat with my coat on

Just a shame that Debenhams is closed but there were still enough shops to keep folk still interested and always enjoy the Muffin Break there.

  • 2/5 L S. 1 year ago on Google
No worthy clothing shops available, and no advertising in shop windows to suggest anything is on the horizon. This place used to be a go-to, with no need to visit Glasgow but now I only go there for the cinema. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it gets back on its feet quickly as its the heart of EK.

  • 2/5 Wee B. 2 years ago on Google
Used to be a good shopping centre, but not now. All the big names have gone and half of the units are empty. South Lanarkshire need to drop the rates, oh and the parking charges.

  • 1/5 Gordon T. 2 years ago on Google
If they don't do something soon about all the empty units there will be no need to go here at all..I feel its just for eating in now..

  • 3/5 Rachel B. 2 years ago on Google
It’s a good place for a browse and a bite to eat. The movie theatre is decent. There’s also ice skating and a library. It’s just too bad so many shops have been forced to close their doors.

A nice shopping centre. Plenty of free parking. Got nice beachwear in Primark for my upcoming holiday. Also a nice shop selling popular branded clothes. Picked up a few bargains here!

Odd that the photo is of an open Debenham's. It's closed and that end of the mall is like a ghost town. Overall, it's your usual selection of brands, in an uninspiring layout. There are better.

Best place to shop especially if it's raining outside 😌 great choice of shops and eateries to choose from a great day out for families and older people

  • 4/5 Karen S. 2 years ago on Google
Good selection of stores but half of them are closed down so minimum selection to choose from primary new look sports shops are the biggest shops in yhe centers

Had a Saturday morning here recently, and was pleasantly surprised with the range of shops available. Also first 3 hrs in carpark were free on the Saturday.

Its got a few good shops and its okay for a coffee or sandwich but it's massive and there are lots empty units. It used to be great in the 1990s so hopefully it will get better in the next few years. And there is an ice rink so that's fun.

Not a bad shopping centre, still loads of unoccupied stores. Food court was busy with queues for most places. Plumped for Subway where we enjoyed a couple of good Subs.

  • 2/5 Christina R. 1 year ago on Google
Seriously need to change the whole standard of the shopping centre and stop seeing customers as cash machines. You might get better stores and staff if they didn't have to pay for car parking and substandard facilities. When you think what we had to what we're left with it is so sad..

I took a blackout in the car park thank you to the security guard/first aiders who came to my assistance as my 17 yr old daughter froze with shock.. thanks so much Alistair, liam n co. I have a massive lump on the back of my head as a reminder..they were top class.

Nice place to go for lunch with family and friends. However not a lot of things for children to do. A lot of the shops have went out of business and have been closed down as a result.

**Those Debenhams image's are old photos, most places are shut down, the place is left to ruins, restaurants in the hub are empty, have been for months, dont let these pics and fake reviews of "free parking fool u" Place is a ghost town, moslty charity shops and other shops struggling to stay open, leaks everywere, wet floors, barriers and cones in walk ways, and a fortune for parking, (only shopping center i know that charges parking) also this center has rubbish shops honestly do not waste your time coming to this place, i will be surprised if it stays opened, i stay in ek, and travel to silverburn and breahead for shopping or ek retail park, i only go near this center because my son has to go to nursery situated inside the center, the nursery is the only good thing left in there.

This used to be a great shopping centre. Sadly, too many decent shops have closed. Even M&S is an outlet store now with clothes no- one would buy - I don't know why they bother to stay open. On the upside, you can get parked quite easily now!

  • 3/5 Andrew W. 1 year ago on Google
Oh dear! Several years ago this was a fantastic shopping area but an awful lot of shops have now closed and the place just looks a bit sad. If you do go there, make sure you call in to Marks & Spencer's. It's like entering the twilight zone! Hardly anything on display, no background music and hardly any staff. It's like shopping in a morgue!

This Shopping Center is sadly one of the victims of the Pandemic. It COULD be one of the best... real SIX STAR quality... sadly because many of the bigger shops have currently closed it has become something of a ghost town. The EK center building itself is LOVELY - easy affordable parking, wide walkways and good lighting make this easily one of the nicer indoor malls. The sad part is that with almost all the big stores closed, as yet, there are no signs of any planned replacements. If/When some new shops open up this will be well worth visiting again. Ideally it needs a major food retailer to replace Sainsbury's, and for perfection some form of department store, furniture shop or DIY / household store. Until then it remains mostly a sad echo of halcryon days gone by. I think we all know that the difficulty, for big malls like this, was that their rent pricing model was irrevoccably wedded to high footfall and resultant high rent value. Unfortunately the pandemic and the growth of online retailers like Amazon, has presented a major challenge to that model. It remains to be seen whether the owners of the EK complex can find an imaginative way out of this dilemma. I for one am hoping that they can, because as I have already said, as a venue, the EK centre is very nicely designed and potentially a great place to visit.

What a shame this renovated shopping centre, is now a ghost town. The amount of shops closed and even M&S is a outlet or should I say a junk shop!! You would think the landlords would give shops a deal on rentals so it's at least functional.

  • 2/5 Scott M. 1 year ago on Google
Being from East Kilbride I hate to say it but the town centre is absolutely disgraceful. Pay for parking to go to a ghost town, so many empty shop spaces, so many places to buy food but very little to do other than eat. Used to be amazing.

  • 3/5 A 1 year ago on Google
It's ok nothing great it used to be a really good shopping centre with lots of different varieties of shops ..not now most of the shops have closed down due to the high rental price for the outlet they rent from the shopping centre

  • 2/5 Sheila M. 1 year ago on Google
Sorry place to call a "shopping centre". Not one quality shop there, all average run of the mill. Shame to see such a downfall in what was a great shopping complex with great mixture and choice of shops😕 . Sadly long gone 😪

  • 2/5 Iain M. 1 year ago on Google
This shopping centre is dead on its feet. It needs a huge refurbishment. Stuck in 1982 and looks tired, feels tired. Very limited shopping offer, food and beverage is slightly better but still not great. It's certainly not a destination anymore.
