Very nice selection of different teas from all over the world. It is for sure a very hipster place, the entrance is almost hidden in a back street. I had a very good time there, drinking an oolong (first time) and tasting a plate of middle east bites.

A neat little hideaway hidden down a lane. I've been here once before, it was where I had my first date with my boyfriend 5 years ago! Came back with a couple of friends last night. Our table was in the 'zen' nook. You sat on the floor and there was plenty of cushions to keep you comfy although I learned it's best having your legs stretched out, having mine crossed was giving pins and needles! The staff were pleasant although my friend had to go find someone to place an order as we had been sat for a while without being seen (I'm not sure if it was table service or a order at the counter scenario though so that could be an error on our part). The atmosphere was super relaxing, I loved that it was calming music in the background and at a low volume. The interior is really cool, a lot of Mish mash furniture and felt like you were in a cosy cave. I'm always a fan of second hand/vintage items, so it was great to see all our teapots had different styles. A great selection of food to choose from. I had the "mister beige" which was a vegan sandwich with olives, hummus, sun-dried tomatoes and lettuce. It was slightly toasted, lovely and warm. Just a good size to fill you up. My friends went for hummus and pitta bread and a cheese and cracker selection, it looked great too! I chose the vegan chocolate cake, I couldn't put my finger on the flavour but there was a lovely warming sensation, almost like a gingerbread? Went great with my russian caravan blend. Great selection of teas, I think it said 80 to choose from? You're definitely spoiled for choice. This is a really great place to go if you're wanting an evening to relax with friends and not a fan of noisy pubs/alcohol like myself!

This place is a hidden gem near kelvingrove. They have a wide variety of teas. If you're feeling overwhelmed with massive options, know that they are divided into categories (i.e., black flavoured teas, white/green/oolong teas, herbal infusion, and recipe tea). They also offer food/snacks and coffee. The vibe is so chill and zen to the point that you'll just get lost into your reading. They also play a hippie type of music. Perfect place if you wanna escape outside world especially this winter.

Unfriendly and cold staff. You would think that due to the current economic crisis they might be a bit more customer focused.

The tea and food was ok but not amazing especially not for the price, the staff let it down with their awful attitudes and poor customer service, when going up to order and pay the two members of staff were chatting even after seeing me standing there they continued their conversation, eventually when they finished chatting the woman came over and just looked at me rather than asking how she could help, when paying she didn't tell me the card machine was ready and instead just walked away so I tapped my card and waited for it to flash, the staff continued with their conversation again and looked me up and down as I stood there and again rather than ask how they could help they just stared at me, I was going to ask for a receipt but they made me feel too uncomfortable so just asked if the payment had gone through and got the response 'mhmm' so went back to my table

Nice ambience and great quality food. Liked the yogi chai ( twist to the Indian masala tea).

I love this place!! The vibe both inside and outside is just unreal. It is located in a narrow street that looks like a hippie community. Inside the place has sofas and cushions to sit on the floor. The tea options are great and really varied! They also have tasty little snacks!

This place has never disappointed me over the years I've been coming here. I have not been anywhere else which offers this much variety of tea from different parts of the world and the food options also always feel fresh and taste great. Honestly it's a place everyone should visit at least once.

Tchai-Ovna was my one customer-service disappointment during my vacation in Glasgow/Edinburgh. Food was fine, green tea was good (though I would dispute their flavour description of it.. though this is open to artistic interpretation)..but the service was atrocious. Over 20mins for a pot of tea, had to insist on second cup.. no apologies, nothing. Worst part is you have to pay up front - so cant back out once you see the kind of service they provide. Not recommended.

🤯🤯The best tea ever!!! I'm yet to be let down by the absolutely massive selection of teas and other things they have to offer :) Nice atmosphere and overall a great place to go with both pals or alone, I always feel relaxed and happy after visiting this funky place.

  • 4/5 Veronica R. 9 months ago on Google
Very good tea for such an affordable price! The place was packed and the service was a bit slow, but the oolong tea itself was of very good quality. There’s possibility of tree water refill, which is good! Would recommend if it’s a cold day and you’re in the area.

This tea house exceeded all my expectations. I stopped by during my backpacking trip for some food and tea. The dal they served that day was super delicious. Bella made me feel very welcome. Choosing from the great tea selection was not easy. I went for the Nepalese Tulsi tea. I highly recommend it. The taste is great and the feeling even better. The "Resources" pinboard with people sharing contact details to meet up with others with common interests is also really cool! I'm so lucky to have come here during my two days in Glasgow.

A very quaint quiet place to hang out by yourself or with a group of friends enjoying the chai! I tried their yogi yogi chai which was just delicious. It was totally worth my decision to go there and read my book with a pot of chai! Also their meal of the day are this huge serving which is piping hot and soooo delicious. Also they have only vegetarian and vegan options so for all people following a vegetarian or vegan diet this is a must visit place!

A nice and chilled place, really unique - I haven’t been anywhere like this before. They even had a live band playing one night. We got faeries blood tea and yogi tea and also bought a bag of tea to brew at home :)

Like.. how many times did I visit here? My memorable wee tea place near the uni. Highly recommend the delicate chai lattes and Armenian tea. Sometimes holds wonderful music nights, and I'd really love to ask where they bought all the wooden tables(especially the checkerboard pattern one, please contact me in case you're selling it) You might witness a cat if you're lucky

I had the desi chai and it was one of the best chais I’ve had in Glasgow so far! I loved how it came in a cute pitcher!

I've been here quite a few times over the years. It's a really chill place with lovely staff. The music and vibe is always relaxing and the variety of tea is insane.

  • 5/5 Rosa P. 2 years ago on Google
So good! Such a zen place. Really nice to catch up with friends or go yourself to relax. There is a seating area outside but I feel like sitting inside you get more of an experience. The music is so relaxing and there is a really nice smell of incense. The teas are delicious, the staff are really nice and helpful and it's just an all round great place to feel calm. You can buy the teas to take home too, there is a lovely little shop. Definitely recommend!

Little jewel hidden away. Lovely atmosphere for students and people of all walks over life looking for a quiet spot to read a book, sip specialist teas, snack on tasty bytes (e.g, excellent soups). No Internet! Paradise.

Small and cosy tea room in the west end. Huge menu of teas from across the world plus a small selection of tasty vegetarian/vegan foods. Lovely laid back atmosphere with seating spread between benches, chairs and raised platforms covered with cushions which are great for small groups to relax. Been popping in for Arabic mint tea and dolmades for many years now!

This is a fantastic little Tea house, frequented by hipsters, students and starving artist's. This hidden gem has a massive range of tea to fix whatever ails you or just delight the taste buds. A perfect place to recover your zen.

Loved it. Went for to see a friend playing a set there on a Friday. Staff were lovely but far too busy. Had a bit of a wait and order arrived at different times. Was V busy to be fair.

One of the most hippy food places in Glasgow. The variety of food is not huge, but if you go there you will love it's chaotic atmosphere. Huge list of teas to choose.

What a calm and tranquil spot. Excellent tea. Just noshed my vegan goulash with my ‘fairies blood’ herbal tea - superb flavours. Very happy. Will definitely be back!

A fantastic place to visit, with an exhaustive choice of teas and some choice cuisine to compliment your brew. This is probably as unique as you'll find on a trip to Glasgow. Be warned though, it's not a swift 10 minute visit, come here when you've an hour or two to lose, relax and refresh.

Whenever I need to relax I go to this place. Friendly staff, friendly and accepting people all around. You won’t feel like a stranger in this shop. Not to mention the amazing chill- bands and music they play nearly every night. In cold night I would suggest the “honey-spiced tea”. Trust me 👌🏻😊

Cosy, quirky place with indie vibes and so many teas on the menu! Vegetarian and vegan dishes available, too. The Mecca of Tea in Glasgow! Plus, they host a few gigs throughout the month by independent artists. What's not to love!

  • 5/5 Adrian N. 4 years ago on Google
Chilled cool place that serves the best tea around with sometimes a real supprise from the free gigs . There.s no where in Glasgow like it. ?

Wow what a place! I'd heard about Chai Ovna for some time and when I finally went it lived up to the hype. Lovely little cafe that feels a world away from the rest of Glasgow with its eclectic tables and chairs and decor, including piano! A huge selection of amazing teas and delicious vegetarian and vegan fayre. I cant wait to go back!

  • 5/5 Filip R. 5 years ago on Google
The range of teas is stunning. We had something like The Gunpowder of Heaven! Cottage's feel like style, warm and mixture of everything inside, occasionally accompanied with a live music. In general, hipster and very creative shelter.

  • 4/5 Thomas L. 5 years ago on Google
Like always a pleasure going there. Very hip, "rustic" Ambiente so most definitely not for everyone but we like the old books, random things and cosy seating corners. She had the spice master and I had the healing flower tea. Spice master was quite spicy, as one would expect. Rich chilly taste. The healing flower tea tasted like honey and subtle, comforting passion flower.

  • 5/5 S B. 4 years ago on Google
Great experience here. Staff are chill, and happy to recommend a tea (as it’s an expansive menu!). I’d recommend the Spiced Honey if you’re looking for something delicious and similar to a chai latte. Food had really big portions which helps justify the price. Food is perfectly spiced and very wholesome. Good atmosphere

Perhaps one of my favorite places to go to in all of Glasgow. I've had many a special afternoon and evening in Tchai-Ovna. Though I'm not so adventurous when it comes to the menu (I seemingly always end up getting the Yogi-Yogi chai tea which is absolutely phenomenal and out of this world), I always feel right at home here given the lovely vibes created by the staff of Tchai-Ovna. Haven't managed to try any of the food on the menu yet, but have been recommended it by a variety of my friends, and I'm sure it'll happen sooner or later! They also often have concerts and similar events for people to enjoy. When it gets a bit warmer there's also a lovely outdoor area where some fresh air can be enjoyed (if Glasgow permits it!). They also have a lovely selection of paintings on display, one which I couldn't stop myself from buying. They are mainly from local artists so the support goes to the right place! Highly recommend this absolute gem of Glasgow!

Eclectic collection of seating and tables, which was expected and suited this place, although I found it a bit grubby I wanted to spring into action with my feather duster and cleaning cloth. However the kitchen looked clean enough. We had a pot of desi tchai and pot of yogi yogi tchai which were delicious along with a slice of vegan chocolate cake which was nice. We did wait quite a while for our order considering it was tea and cake but the menu did make you aware there maybe waiting times based on staffing and order requirements. The place was quite cold to sit around waiting. Nice collection of teapots being used although shocked to see aluminium pots being used😦. Anyway, been there, done it but wouldn't buy the teashirt.
