My daughter recommended this place from previous experience. First impressions of the environment was ok. Once you look closer the leather chairs are stained and dirty, the floor is very dirty, and the menus are torn with old food stains stuck to them. The tables and shelves are none too clean either. We should have walked out then but decided to stay for lunch. We ordered a Mac cheese x4 and I ordered the onion soup. We also ordered drinks and water. We sent back two glasses as they were dirty. When the food came, the Mac cheese was hot in the middle but cold on the outside. It was also dry and bland. My wife sent them back to get reheated ( probably again in the microwave). My family struggled to eat about half of it. As for my onion soup ? It was like a bowl of gravy granules, balsamic vinegar, mixed with olive oil that also had some onion chutney thrown in It. The soup also was very hot in the middle and very cold on the outside. The bread was stale and hard. Just short of £ 90 for the experience of feeling disappointed and let down by the quality of the food. On reflection we should have sent it all back and left. Not a nice family experience. My daughter cried once we left the restaurant as she felt that she let us all down. I get the impression this place is living on their past reputation. I will let others be the judge of this ? as I have never eaten there before ? Nice funky website but not a good experience in reality.

Been there several times for the fondue before pandemic and the experience was nice. So when we noticed they offering fondue again we poped in immediately But it comes out very disappointed. We chose the surf n turf set which is the most expensive set and it came with a full plate of meats and seafood which looks very good. But the thing makes us angry is the cheese, the soul of the fondue. They only provide us like 1/6 of the pot of cheese and it finished very fast and the food is more than half left. And when we ask them to add more cheese they told us the kitchen is closed. No one told us the kitchen closed time when we order or during our meal. And when I asked why there's such little cheese for such a big plate of food, their explanation is because we are only 2people! That's the most rediculous excuse I have ever heard, you should measure the portion of cheese by the the food you serve, not the number of people you serve! If there's 1 person will you just give him a tea cup of cheese to finish the whole plate of food? And the worst thing is their attitude, the waiter claim there's nothing they can do and wants to walk away without giving any solution! After I call her back she said the only thing they can do is help us pack the rest food so we can take them away( equals to do nothing). I asked her to bring her manager, but still no solution no apologize. And the only thing the manager can do is she promise to do something to our bill. Now we came to the best part. After we scratched off all the cheese we can find in that pot, we asked for the bill. (I swear to god that must be the cleanest pot I've ever seen in fondue). There's nothing changed the bill! We felt like we been treated like a fool. We have to ask them again, and at last they just removed the price of 2 drinks we didn't even finish. We just paid the bill and don't want to ask them anymore. In their opinion we just asking for trouble and begging for their mercy. At last, thank you for encourage me to purchase a fondue pot to do it on my own.

Great social place with full of positive energy and tasty food. Despite the fact that the place was absolutely full with customers, the staff remained friendly and helpful. A must-visit when in Ashton Lane.

Had a wonderful evening at the Brel on Friday night. Our server Jules was fantastic, she was very helpful with the menu and provided us with awesome service. The food was delicious, I had the Risotto. We will definitely come back next time we get over to the UK.

We arrived here for an after dinner drink on a Sunday. We were greeted well and were shown to our table. We ordered drinks and 20 minutes later nothing arrived. I then asked and they said it would be 5 more minutes! Going somewhere to have a drink shouldn't take 25 minutes and the place was not busy. Needles to say I cancelled the drinks and left. Come on Brel you used to be so good

Cosy atmosphere. Reserved a table for lunch on Saturday which unfortunately was right beside the till so was very noisy. I had the French onion soup which was tasty although lacked seasoning and was quite gravy'ish. Shared a full portion of mussels for main that also lacked seasoning although the mussels themselves were very good. That best part of the meal was the soda bread which came with both the soup and the mussels.

One on the worst fondue you can get. Worse is that it wasn't by mistake. Waitress explained that the fondue is usually served lukewarm so normal. Terrible service.

Cozy nice looking place to have a drink or some food. On the arrival we were told we can only sit in a certain area even though it was completely empty inside when we walked in and been told that we will not have table service so we have to order at the bar, but later on another table came in and they had a table service and we've been told it's because they have reserved a table before coming in.So the whole service concept was very confusing. Apart from that the staff was very nice and friendly and the drinks were nice too, so I would recommend visiting this place.

I've been greeted at the door immediately and was taken to our table. Staff is very friendly, they checked upon us regularly during our meal. The portions are huge - we shared a starter between the two of us but it could have just as well been shared by 4 people. A bit on the pricey side but we had a reasonable bill because we shared (although had no dessert as we were full). We've been seated inside next to the heater - it had to be turned down because it was roasting there. It was dimly lit which was a bit dark for my taste but I think other areas were better.

Nice pub / diner. Relaxed atmosphere and ambiance. Pleasant staff and I enjoyed my meal of Muscles in a lemongrass and mild chilly broth. Prices reasonable. Good near by parking. 1 minute from Hillhead Subway so easily accessible from other parts of the city. Also has covered and no. Covered outdoor area and beer garden.

It was a beautiful day and we sat outdoors. Service was quick but the food was a letdown. We ordered 2 burgers which were huge but underseasoned and really dry. The coating on the fried chicken was really too salty and the clam linguine didn't taste fresh at all. Disappointing and won't be back.

Not the best experience today. Came in with my partner and 2 friends. First round of drinks took nearly 20 mins to arrive considering they weren't too busy that was a bit questionable. We ordered food and when it came, overall it was a bit underwhelming to look at but we started eating. I discovered quickly very serious issues with my chicken burger. In pointing this out to the waiter he apologised and offered to replace this which they did with the macaroni (wasn't chancing another burger) this to be fair was lovely but I was put off after the burger as anyone would be. For fairness I should add my friend had a chicken burger and hers was fine. Next round of drinks took a while also and we were never given the table water we asked for. The waitress brings the bill at 1hr 30 saying we had to leave as they needed they table. I was charged full price for my replacement meal and wasn't given anything in the way of anything complimentary considering what they initially served me as well as how pricey the place is. Considering this is a West end place I expected a lot better. 2 stars in that when staff were present they were attentive enough and also some of food was nice.

Been here several times for the good food and the atmosphere but never once had good service. Went last week for dinner and drinks and had booked to sit outside. The place was quiet and there were lots of staff on but still took a wee while to have our order taken. After we had eaten, we were sat with dirty dishes in front of us for absolutely ages waiting for them to be cleared. We ordered a chocolate fondue which was brought out with no fondue forks or plates, the server said they would be right back with them. Waited 10 mins and still no forks or plates - our server was having a chat with their colleague at the bar inside so we ended up just digging in with our hands. We also had to go and pay at the bar since no one was around to ask for the bill. Also had a birthday meal here earlier in the year, had booked weeks in advance and they stuck me and my partner at a table both facing a TV with football on😅 had one drink each in the hour and a half we were there because no one bothered to come and check on us to take an order. The food is good, the beer garden atmosphere is lovely, the servers are friendly enough; however, the service is consistently rotten.

Lovely meal and great cocktails. Left a generous tip. A new male bartender came on shift and refused to sell us any more alcohol. Also refused to tell us his name which I thought was strange. It is a shame he ruined our night after we spent so much money.

Gorgeous interior giving off a European pub and beer garden vibe, with indoor and outdoor seating. The interior was cozy. We went on Tuesday and it was a fondue and raclette night! Was fun to self-prep the cheese. The fondue was okay to share between 2 people. It was a good experience but the platter was quite basic. The service was average, very friendly but I think they were a bit stretched in staffing.

Great atmosphere. Was a little cramped getting to & from our table based on how others were seated. Meatballs were okay. Chocolate fondue was so yummy! Visit after dark as the lights are beautiful.

Every time I visit brel it's improved . I only get back every year or two from Germany but I always head to brel. The back terrace area now resembles an ibiza beach bar than the west end cramped wee bar it was when I first started going there about 20 years ago

Love going to Brel. The food, staff, etc are amazing. I visited last Tuesday with my sister and my daughter to celebrate my daughter's Masters graduation. My sister became unwell, and I have to say everyone at Brel couldn't have been any more helpful.

Place look awesome. Food depends what you order. Peanut curry was good, mussels well done, too but mac and cheese as well as onion rings were far too oily (you could see oil floating in the dish). I know that everybody should feel good in their skin but for the sake of the guest ... waitereses please wear bras!!!!

Great bar, been coming for years, some unusual Trappist beers, famous for its mussels and fries, and out the back is rammed in the summer. Pity we got lobbed out!!

Nice bar with fairy lights. The best thing about this place is the beer garden, so it's a good place for drinks in the summer. Wide range of beers, especially Belgian ones, but generally pricey. We have been underwhelmed with the food, had a risotto and chicken burger which were substandard.

We had fish tacos for lunch two weeks ago, they have really good COVID care and of course the super Brel style, service and food is still there. Busy on The Hill, good to see folk enjoying this place I've been coming to for 20+ years.

Had food and cocktails there yesterday which on the whole was really good. It’s a big place and with the sun out the west end was pretty busy. They had good control in place to ensure they didn’t get over loaded, we waited about 5 mins to get in where we were shown to a table in the bar, we hadn’t booked but it wouldn’t be a bad idea on a busy night. Fish tacos were good, sides were good, the only fail was the mussels, although tasty and of a good size you could count them (17), they did bring more (22) but not what you might be used to for almost £11 when chips are extra. Cocktail of the day was a strawberry frozen daiquiri which was really good. Doing well in these crazy times but if you are a craft beer and mussels vibe you really need to be good at both.

Really wonderful atmosphere, the drinks system was a bit strange made me feel like I was in a bingo hall, seats were also a little too high not practical if you have arthritis like me. But all in all really amazing staff are so kind. It was about £50 for the night which is expensive but what I expected for the west end.
