Have just returned from overnight spa break dinner bed breakfast, overall the hotel is nice. Rooms basic but clean, rooms were cold, heater on but room didn’t heat up much, dinner in the restaurant was “okay”, fish n chips, beef and ale pie and chicken Caesar salad, a bit like Wetherspoons, glad it was included in price as it wasn’t worth price on menu, breakfast the next morning would’ve been lovely if it had been warm, everything cold, beans, bacon, sausage, haggis, plenty of pastries and toast, fruit juice coffee abd tea on offer. We asked for breakfast to be heated in microwave but came back not much better, maybe a microwave out front would be good to avoid this happening, there’s obv an issue with keeping it warm. The space treatments were great myself and one of my friends experience a great massage and it felt we had really been worked on, however my other friend didn’t feel hers was as good, it was meant to be a deep tissue massage and it definitely wasn’t. She enjoyed the relaxation part of it but she didn’t get what she expected unfortunately. The jacuzzi, pool, steamroom and sauna were fab and this was the best part of the stat. The Westerwood really need to spend a bit of time on the restaurant menu and the standard of the food being offered, get the breakfast better and hot, and this would dramatically improve the whole experience. I would a higher standard of good pub classics, we would’ve rather sat in Flemings Bar area but this seems to be closed which was a shame too, burgers, steak pie, macaroni, fajitas, chicken, steak, pasta, pizza’s and when weekend guest staying maybe some music playing in bar area, we would’ve sat longer downstairs, instead we ate our dinner we went back to sit in the room as the restaurant was too cold. I would definitely return for a spa day but I don’t think I would stay overnight again until the other issues mentioned are rectified. This could be a great place with only a few minor changes.

Terrible experience, bed was tiny, springy, and uncomfortable, room was very dated with stained curtains and bathroom door all bubbling up, very unloved rooms. The food was terrible, tasteless burger, cremated pork schnitzel, had better microwave chips! Buffet hot food was freezing, even when they brought fresh fried eggs out they were stone cold. Chef definitely needs to rethink their career choice. It's such a shame as this place used to be good. Won't be back

Hotel was nice and check in staff were friendly. The room was a good size and mine was clean. The spa staff and treatments we had were excellent. The breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately, the dinner was horrendous. It took about 3 hours in total. We were waiting ages with dirty plates in front of us with no staff in sight. The food was massively overpriced and we had substitutions made to almost every meal that we weren’t told about. They did take some things off the bill but to be honest I’d rather pay and have a nice experience than have a horrendous cheaper meal. We saw several other tables having similar problems so I think it’s pretty common experience. I would say in general the hotel is nice but definitely don’t go for dinner!

Stayed 1 night with breakfast included. Room was nice, with the standard as expected for the cost. Everything functional, and in good order. Breakfast was sufficient and buffet style continental or cooked breakfast. We stayed on site for evening meal, in the Grill, which was also nice although the menu is relatively limited. The meals we selected were nice. Generally the atmosphere was relaxed and casual, although at one point we shared the bar area with wedding guests so were somewhat underdressed compared to them. You get free use of the spa while staying, which we made use of, although didn't visit the gym or get any spa treatments. The pool is small but sufficient, there is a jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room. All working fine and in good order. Lockers were a bit hit and miss, so I'd recommend not leaving valuables. Overall, happy with our stay and meals.

I wasn't impressed at all with their aged bedroom, cobwebs everywhere, rundown carpet with pieces missing, furniture that had seen better days, no water replacement in room, public restrooms with broken tiles, and amends with silicone or glue. The food being served in the restaurant was not up to standard. The fish and chips served were worse than pub food, 1st night order food served cold. After getting the manager's attention, it wasn't a worry the following nights. The highlight of this business trip staying here was purely the staff, from front of house, breakfast, restaurant dinner staff, cleaning staff and without failing to mention the super friendly and helpful staff at the Spa area.

The grill restaurant is great but… I ordered the classic burger one night and it came with a small bowl of coleslaw. The coleslaw was so old and out of date, and it tasted rather sour. The EV charging point was not working when I arrived to the hotel. Receptionists, when asked, said : I don’t know when it will be working !. It is what you don’t need after you drove for almost 6hrs and you need your EV for the following morning to be fully charged. Overall stay was good. The rooms require an upgrade from a bathroom point of view mainly !

1st time visiting here, even though only 15 min car drive away. Will defo be back. Easy check-in, room was lovely and view of golf course. Visited the pool, sauna etc which was good. Cold shower behind sauna needing sorted but everything else great. Had drinks in bar watching rugby then went for dinner which was lovely. Breakfast in morning was busy but plenty of choice. Staff were great and enough of them around if you needed something. Looking forward to visiting again :)

Checked in here for a couple of nights on our visit across Scotland. The staff at check in, the restaurant & even cleaners were all friendly, polite & helpful. The place itself has a nice reception, lounge & dining area. Theres lovely views across the hills whilst eating breakfast & a reasonable selection of different things for peoples tastes, everything we tried was good. Our room was clean & well presented, if a little dated. The bathroom was, let's say past its best. The shower door was hanging off, paint peeling off the ceiling, tiles siliconed on, cracked & whilst taking a shower the tray couldn't drain fast enough & this inevitably ends up full of water & you either have to stop the water or time your shower to coincide with the water height reaching its limit. Not ideal. The bed & pillows were nice & comfortable. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The hotels location is ideal for visiting Edinburgh, Glasgow & the surrounding area. I would have to say this isn't a 4⭐ place due to how dated it all is, 3⭐ is more realistic. It looks like it could have stepped straight out of 1998 & when you look closer at the state of the building on the outside it's really showing its age, quite badly in some places. Staff are worth 5 ⭐ & a credit to the place.

The main restaurant was shut which wasn’t mentioned to us- disappointed about this. We went the upper dining area instead. There was was less choice, food took over an hour to come, the quality was alright, nothing special but it was pretty expensive. However, the staff are welcoming and friendly in particular the younger staff members. Also, there are great leisure facilities, but the steam room is never open- I’ve been before and it was the same. Rooms are of a good standard overall, the beds are super comfy and the bathroom is good too.

Would I go back? Not by choice. Great first impressions except having dinner and watching people leave the spa in bathrobes! The entrance to the spa is in the dinning room / bar area. Breakfast, people actually turned up in swimming costumes and bathrobes. Why? If this is an ongoing thing, the hotel needs to implement a dress code, i.e., wear clothes when eating. Went for dinner on Saturday night to be told the restaurant was fully booked. Forewarning might have been nice. Options were the bar which stopped serving food at 1800 or room service. Not a fan of either option. I'd happily have gone home at this point but had two more nights to go. Booked afternoon tea on the Sunday. For a change booked the festive one (at reception since it was advertised), arrived to be told it wasn't available. Again, where was the communication. And Christmas music from breakfast to who knows when. Drove me mad but especially felt sorry for the staff. On the plus side, the food was delicious, enjoyed the spa / pool, best equipped hotel gym I've been at and Erica (massage) was wonderful. Still not enough to make me want to go back

We dined here last night (2 December 2023) and hired a private room for family to mingle/drink/eat in. I haven't been here for years, but I was impressed with the decor and how clean it was kept in general. It looks lovely with the Christmas decorations up, etc, and was a bonus that it had been snowing outside that day by chance. The only 'mishap' was that the waiter accidently tipped a pint of beer all over a family member, otherwise to that it was a lovely evening and a beautiful venue.

I have delivered to this hotel a lot.the staff a very friendly and helpful. The place was spotless and that the delivery room. The rest of the place looks great. It's just off the motorway. Which is handy. It looks like the great quality you get at the hilton or the double tree any place in Scotland.

An overnight stay while touring the area. A very pleasant stay. Helpful friendly staff. Good breakfast. Use of leisure facilities good - except the swimming pool, jacuzzi and showers were a bit on the chilly side. Could do with turning up the thermometer.

Very comfortable room. Clean linen and great towels/bathrobes. Friendly staff. Inclusive Dinner Menu was a bit limited and I am sure that guests would be willing to pay for some Supplements...However, what we hsd was hot, tadty and well received. Decent Wine List with Baron Philippe de Rothschild wines which we had were excellent. A super breakfast with a wide range of food....only comment about that might be to try to keep fried eggs from baking hard....do less and add more frequently....overall a good night away with 10 friends.....Keep up these Hilton standards

We had a super room. Really impressed. Nice bathroom with toiletries too. Not sure if we maybe got upgraded due to having a loyalty card? I have spinal issues, and love a pool. It usually helps, but I felt this pool was a wee tad cold. I like to be in the water for more than an hour, as I can exercise better in the pool, but the cooler temperature meant I came out sooner than usual. I always have a swim after check out too, but after the palava over our breakfast, I just wanted to leave altogether. Our Anniversary stay left us feeling a bit let down & disappointed, to say the least. We travelled from Ayshire, after recommendations. Sadly disappointed.

Got married at The Westerwood in August. Amazing venue, fantastic staff, delicious food, rooms were superb..very clean with everything we needed. Buffet style breakfast that was very nice and plenty to choose from. I personally cannot fault any of it. We were very happy indeed.

Nice hotel, great rooms mine had a fridge. You can walk around the golf course which is large and quite scenic. Housekeeping mistakenly took something from my room(easy mistake to make with the particular item) but this was quickly sorted with no issues. The reception people are all really nice too.

The rooms were okay for the price, small bed, small bathroom. What was appalling was the lack of basic amenities that would be provided even in much lower rated hotels for much less money, such as complimentary water bottles, slippers (not even the thin cheap ones), or robes. The views weren’t great either. The pool was nice, but there was orange mold everywhere.

Starting with the positives, the staff , in particular the dining manager Morgan, were exceptionally helpful and attentive, there was an issue with our meal, however this was resolved without a fuss. Unfortunately there wasn't much choice on the evening menu, which was a little disappointing. Otherwise no complaints, we had a lovely time relaxing using the leisure facilities.

I had a lovely afternoon here with my daughter. We had what they call a light lunch but it consisted of three courses. We then had 50 minute treatments. I had a back, neck and shoulders massage plus foot massage and it was amazing. My daughter had full body massage and enjoyed it too. You then can use the Spa facilities. Only thing was jaccuzi was not very warm. The Hotel is situated in lovely grounds. Would go back again. Food was good and staff lovely.xx

Had a really nice overnight stay here. Got a free upgrade which was very well received by us and our friends that we met there. A good nights sleep was followed by a tasty full Scottish breakfast. All of the staff were very friendly. Special mention to Elaine for the excellent service and taking the time to talk to us. Big thumbs up 👍🏼

Went for one night stay spa experience and dinner, breakfast. Spa lack information and direction a bit unorganised had to ask a few times what was happening and where things were. The actual treatment was good. Dinner was OK but was not worth the money. Menu looks good but food was just basic, frozen chips etc. Breakfast was not good self service with powdered scrambled eggs. Rooms were clean and good standard.

Lovely sized hotel room that had a bath and seperate shower. No air con in the room meant that it was warm to sleep in especially in the current heat. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The gym needs some tlc as several of the equipment didn't work or weren't working well. Nice pool area with sauna and steam room. The breakfast was hit and miss depending on if the chef could be bothered to cook the bacon or not. The golf grounds are nice to walk round and if you're lucky you'll spot plenty of wildlife.

We were a group of 6 females on a package offering dinner bed and breakfast and 2 rounds of golf. We arrived expecting a room to be available for golf club storage but were expected to take our clubs to our rooms. Rooms allocated were on the 2nd floor far from the main lift - a long walk with luggage and clubs..staff were helpful when available. We had to bring the clubs quite a distance from the course to the main hotel entrance - luckily we had golf buggies and could use the hotel luggage trolleys. There should be a club storage room near the golf course. Condition of the course was not great with some dangerous areas of cart path which should be repaired. The rooms were very nice, clean, with bath and separate shower. Staff were great especially the breakfast staff Joanne, Tracy and Alana. Breakfast was very good as eggs were freshly cooked on request and the range of food was excellent. The menu for lunch was limited and the first day (of a 2 night stay) lunch before our golf took 40 minutes to be served..luckily we only had one course. The dinner menu looked good but there was a distinct lack of vegetables even the extras available weren't great and so portions were inadequate and pricy. Service was better than at lunch. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but the golf facilities need to be reviewed.
