Joined for the pool and adult spa but found the layout pretty poor. The adult spa is two floors above the pool and when I was there the lift wasn't working and there was no signage to say it was out of order. Soaking wet and in my swimming costume I had to walk through the cafe and past various facilities to find the stairs. There was no signposting to the stairs and even the staff member I asked didn't know where they were! When I eventually made it to the spa there was rubbish lying around and the ice blast shower wasn't working. It didn't feel as relaxing and luxurious as I hoped. The showers were a bit grubby looking with stained grout etc. Getting changed, well you pretty much have to be comfortable getting naked in front of strangers cause there's only a few private cubicles and the first one I used didn't lock. When I mentioned the broken lift at reception I didn't get an apology only a snippy response about it having an out of order sign on it. I said there was no sign just a couple of bits of blue tack where a sign once was. This further irritated the woman on reception who mumbled something about printing another one out. She then walked off without acknowledging me at all. I found her quite curt and rude. This experience continued when I phoned to ask if the lift had been fixed. I was told it had, but that it was broken again. I asked to speak to the manager who was equally as curt with me. Overall my experience wasn't great and I have cancelled my membership. This can only be done through the app and feels impersonal and like they don't really care about your custom or your feedback. Getting a refund is slow too. 3 to 5 days after the refund is issued will it hit my bank account apparently and the person that does the refunds I am told will do this in 4 days from my request. I was really looking forward to enjoying my time at David Lloyd West End as I had used a friend's guest pass at Rouken Glen and thought it was great. But my personal experience was not what I would expect from this brand. I am a disappointed customer šŸ˜”

By far the worst David Lloyd club I have visitedā€¦. I moved to the West end of Glasgow and transferred my membership from Rouken Glen but very quickly changed it back. The facilities are run down, the food is a poorer quality and it has a very different vibe to other clubs. The families (of course not all) who attend this club are a different breed, their kids run wild and are often completely unsupervised. Every time my 7 yr old goes into the soft play really rough kids want to fight with him. ā€œScheme mentality!ā€ I visited on Monday and decided afterwards itā€™s the last time Iā€™ll visit, there were a number of kids running around with no parents anywhere, one little boy hit 6 kids (including my own) in the space of 5 minutes then turned his attention to ripping the flat screen TV off the wall. His mum was sitting with her baby not bothering her backside. I appreciate its down to parents to supervise their children but the management have a part to play in creating a safe environment for their patrons. I donā€™t ever feel relaxed when I visit, and I am often worried that my son isnā€™t safe because someone elseā€™s feral offspring is going to start a fight. Will not be back!!!

I rejoined this gym a few months ago having been a member previously but the gym has went down hill substantially! Spin bikes are rusty or donā€™t work, spa is disgusting state with mould and showers falling off. The the roof leaks, changing room doors are broken, toilet seats broken. The whole place is in a general state of disrepair but the membership fee is still a huge premium compared to others. The gym staff are nice but the membership team are focused on sales and donā€™t have the courtesy to respond to emails of existing members. Avoid, I will be at renewal time!

The pool and connected facilities are lovely, with a very nice outdoor pool. I would have given it 5 stars but when busy with kids, there is little consideration given for adults who want to swim lengths - all but one lane is often closed at peak hours and the rest given over to kids' play and kids' lessons. There was even a kids lesson conducted width-ways in the outdoor pool on more than one occasion, so lengths also impossible there. Therefore 5 stars if you want a family pool but 3 stars if you want to swim for exercise (note - there are adult only time slots, but these aren't really convenient for working hours)

Such poor service and facilities for Ā£160 a month. Seriously avoid this place and save yourself the hassle. Food at the restaurant is either terrible or itā€™s closed completely, high turnover of crĆØche staff, broken tiles and filters in the pools that will tear your swimming clothes, showers that are broken or have no hot water, dirty premises, no activities for younger children and no communication from management despite raising issues since may. Even trying to cancel the membership has been difficult, with emails, calls and messages on the app going unanswered and even a visit in person leaving me no further forward. Seriously, avoid this place.

We've been members of this gym for a year, and I can't think of a time I went there and something wasn't broken. I think for what you pay (and in comparison to other DL gyms) the facilities in this gym are outdated and could do with a proper upgrade. Some work is being done to showers now, but I feel like for about 6 months in the past year aircons in the gym were not working, then there was a big leak in the hallway and they had to dry it and it was very smelly; ladies toilet in the changing room stink as if no one ever empties sanitary bins; a few weeks ago there was a leak in the actual gym where water was dripping from the ceiling. The pool is pretty busy in the winter months if you are going after work, and for the amount of people using the gym, there are only 5 stretching spots with mats. The only way I'd stay a member at this gym, would be if the price was reflecting the very run-down facilities that are offered, plus if there was a chance to enroll on a monthly contact. P.s. Not an actual negative for the DL, but lately when I've been to the gym, even when it's not too busy, more and more lockers were unavailable because people just keep their stuff in them and as a result less lockers are available for use for other members. It's an alright option as a gym, if you are from the area and can go early mornings, or around lunch time, in which case you can take the off-peak membership which is cheaper and what I think this gym should actually cost to all members.

Considering the price i expected a much better gym and swimming pool. The 2 are not bad but mediocre, more than half the small gym is cardio leaving not much room for a diversity of machines, however the squat racks are good. On the other hand, who had the idea to make the pool 1m50 deep, just makes you feel like you're swimming in a paddling pool. Final verdict, if your paying to come for solely the gym and not make use of the other facilites, dont! the gym group or pure gym are quarter of the price and just as good if not better in some cases.

Waiting to see if/what improvements are made by new manager but it would appear that, unfortunately, my request fora discussion re membership, wont be one of the changes as no contact has been made despite request being submitted weeks ago... Club has almost unquantifiable potential but nearly every visit something is closed/not working/faulty/dirty. Pay extra for use of spa facility but, more often than not, something there is broken. Previously the kids area could have been excellent but was often dirty. Hoften gone to eat here after swimming only to find every table, high chair etc covered in sticky food residue raising questions about cleanliness and, more importantly, hygiene. Have stopped even raising complaints as frequent feedback is that issues are outwith club control. Staff, individually, are all nice, accommodating, friendly and welcoming but, the club as a whole, needs a lot of improvement and is incomparable to the Rouken Glen facility.

Signed up for a 2 week trial offer - then I went down with a virus. Called them many times to ask if I could move the dates - but got no reply - then sent a message on their website asking the same and still no response. Finally received a message from them asking how much I'd enjoyed the trial and did I want to take out a membership. Still haven't set foot in the place - pretty unlikely that I ever will now! Despite a reply on here from the owner saying they would be in touch - 2 weeks on, and I've still not heard from back them!

You pretty much know what you are getting with a place like this. Nice facilities, clean and well maintained. Lots of members so it can feel a wee bit impersonal, such are the nature of these big gyms. Staff are friendly. If you have the platinum membership, just remember you lose your one free guest pass at the end of each month, so it doesn't accumulate.

I've been using the club for few weeks now.I am utterly disappointed with the service provided.lost for word.Let me start with the shower. The shower switch buttons are all broken partially and the showers smells of body odour. The changing room is disgusting as the floor really dirty.I have not seen the house keeper in the changing room.Yesterday showers were not working had to have cold shower in this weather. This morning called they said the sauna is not working on pool side and the receptionist advice me to upgrade to Celsius spa membership to use alternative sauna upstairs.I have used various david lyds centres around the country and i believe this one is the worse. Especially with the price tag its definitely not worth the visit.Soon I will be moving on.Please please avoid

DL Westend is worth every penny of the membership. I have one for myself and my daughter and use it 4-5 times a week. Facilities are well appointed, clean and nodern. All staff are friendly, helpful and always around if you need someone. Would highly recommend

Joined the gym about three weeks ago mainly to use the pool with my fiancƩ and young son. Cleanliness around the pool and in the changing areas is poor and I certainly expect better given the price of membership. Bins in changing room but emptied. Changing rooms not cleaned regularly. Debris around the pool (hair, bandages, chewing gum). Drain backing up in the showers.

The club in general is good and has plenty of space and facilities for members. There is a serious problem though with the condition of the Celsius spa. I hadn't been in it for a while due to lockdown but immediately noticed that it was filthy when I visited recently. The steam room is disgusting with blocked drainage and scum floating in the water on the floor. There is mildew all over the tiling and the showers barely work. There is no excuse for this given the place had been closed for a time over lockdown. Did management not think to use the time to clean the place! Also, it is impossible to get a locker as other members use it for their jackets and bags while they are in the gym so people just have to leave bags lying around the place. The spa is like a forgotten area of the gym thats last on the to-do list. Council gyms wouldn't allow their facilities to get into this condition.

Reading some of the other reviews, it honestly feels like people have been going to a different gym. I've been coming here for two years now and the pools, changing room etc have always been spotlessly clean. Reception is always friendly and greets you every time you enter or leave. I had been to a few gyms in Glasgow before coming here, this is the best.

AVOID THIS PLACE - 1 star is generous. Have been a Platinum for over two years now and that time has been filled with poor standards, lack of investment in the club and false promises and excuses from General Managers and Regional Manager. In particular order here are some of the issues you should expect to face all of which are not one off instances:- Towels - there has been numerous occasions towels have not been available. Restaurant closing early or no cooked food available due to staff shortages. issues with hot water. no drinking water available in gym as dispensers not working. buisness hub leak still not fixed. outdoor pool shut due to no either issues or no life guard available. Cleanliness is appalling Steam room, sauna , plunge pool spa, regularly closed due to issues Celsius Spa I will attach the pictures which says it all!!

Was informed on joining that the outdoor pool was year round - a key selling point for us. Very disappointing that mid-membership it has been closed until April, as well as the fees going up. A shame, because it's a nice club with friendly staff.

The gym is good but the sauna is very dated, dark and dingy. Compared to the spas around London, this spa is lacking and requires modernisation. I hope it is done soon!

The main reason for visiting was to go to String Sports, the staff member was knowledgeable and attentive, will definitely be back! The rest of the gym was absolutely stunning, and has great facilities. Will definitely be back next time I'm out that way.

The building is past its best in parts. Some TLC would bring this up a star, a complete makeover would make it a 5 star venue again. What makes this a great place is the staff. Above and beyond is their general motto. If you have kids and love in the city, seriously consider joining a David Lloyd because the kids club is amazing as well as all the other activities to keep the young team amused and away from a screen.

Just wanted to give a shout out to both John and Charlotte for their positive attitude, friendliness and help. Both were extremely welcoming and quick to offer assistance and suggestions, showing an enthusiasm to their work. I enjoyed chatting to them both and found myself extra motivated for the day. Their efforts make me certain to order coffees on site in the future, rather than going to a Costa etc.

Friendly club, large gym, good selection of group fitness classes with something to suit all ages and fitness levels. I especially enjoyed the Body Pump class with Steph, amazing energy and just the right amount of motivation! Outdoor pool is amazing, and a spa on onsite hair dresser is a bonus. With a cafe and children's activities, this is a very family friendly location. Very much an inclusive club feeling, from the moment you enter with a warm welcome at reception, so much more than just a gym!

A great gym, amazing facilities, however fairly pricey. I enjoyed being a member of DL. The quality and variety of the equipment, classes, pool, and spa are excellent. You can expect to pay up to Ā£100 a month but I feel it is worth it if you're serious about fitness. The restaurant and bar avaliable is also very good with a great range of healthy and wholesome food at great prices.

Long story short Got 4 friends to join David Lloyd, turns out both where paying Ā£120 per couple for a package better then the one we where paying Ā£158 for (no courts). When I questioned this, they refused to move us over to the same package and basically passed me from pillar to post for 6 weeks. Poorly managed at local, regional and national level. We were members for 3 + years and will never be back. Now we are getting hassle for debt collectors when we have no debt with David Lloyd. Strange Its worth mentioning that the reception staff where always fantastic, I hope the company treats them better then it does its customers.

I have been overcharged on my membership for a year now and I have complained 2 weeks ago and yet to receive a response. When I called up I was told this had happened to many people but the membership manager wasn't in that day - I've also emailed that manager but had no response. I want my money back?? Also, it is impossible to get a locker in the spa area at peak times - There is room just outside the changing area for further lockers so I don't know why they haven't put any there. The Solarium has been broken since I joined. The only good thing is the reception staff and PT's who are very polite. I'm looking to cancel my membership when they finally respond...?

I am a member of DL clubs and hold a family membership. I recently visited the club on the 20th of December after my daughter and her friends finished school. I was very dissatisfied and disappointed with my experience. The restaurant manager called Mark was rude, uncultured and very ill informed. He was unhelpful and created an embarrassing situation for me in front of my family members. I have therefore decided to make a formal complaint regarding him and will terminate my membership with the club. Poor service!

  • 1/5 Samra K. 4 years ago on Google
As a platinum member visited Glasgow west end DL with a friend today. The manager at Dā€™licious in DL, Mark, was ill mannered, irresponsible, arrogant and poorly informed. He came to tell me on my table in front of my friends that he can not honour the discount vouchers he accepted at the time of ordering. We had finished the meal so I went to pay the full price however the till accepted all vouchers. Mark unnecessarily caused me embarrassment in front of my friends and was so rude and arrogant, demanding me to pay the full price rather than even once apologising for his mistake or attitude. Imagine being asked to pay more for something after you have had the service!

  • 1/5 katy 4 years ago on Google
They seem to open the restaurant as and when they feel like it. The majority of time I have been there, it is closed. Can't even get a drink. They also start rushing you out half an hour before closing. Was using the ladies toilet and they switched the lights off in the middle of doing my business! Half an hour before closing! Terrible customer experience especially considering the price of membership!

Great gym with quality, clean facilities. Membership is quite pricey, which makes it all the more frustrating when waterfoubtains in the gym area are so frequently malfunctioning. This is my only real gripe. Staff are friendly, there is a wide range of equipment and a very good cafe on site.

I rate this 3 stars because of the price & Id rate the rest of the gym, staff and facilities a massive 5 stars***** This gym is brilliant, keeps riff raff out due to the price, very clean. However i feel they should do a month rolling pay contact like most gyms these days, id have continued going if this was the case. For a while i wasnt in the right mind frame for the gym and was continuing to pay for something i wasnt attending because i had to sign up for 12 months at a time...so i ended up canceling the direct debt and ending up in debt with them which is crazy considering i wasnt even attending so find that a bit of a joke hence the 3 stars also. I do agree with other reviewers top notch gym. I loved attending, dont think id find another gym as good... or i havent yet!

Horrible experience today with our trial. After many many calls asking us to come back to try the gym again with my family as I came alone for the tour and didnā€™t have much time to try it. I asked to come during childrenā€™s classes so we could workout while kids tried a class. We arrived 15 minutes before the class would start and were told to wait they need to speak to someone. Days ago when this was arranged I was told the class would be booked under a sales associates name since we werenā€™t yet members. This did not happen. After 25 minutes of waiting we were told we could go ask if there was space for the kids in the class. There was. Kids started class 10 minutes late, but we were told since we arenā€™t members we had to wait for a sales associate. We were made to sit in the cafe and wait for an hour and 15 minutes. We watched friends come and go. With the kids in the class we waited but really wanted to get a workout in. How frustrating to come to a gym and just have to sit when we are members of another gym already and could have been working out there! We were called every week to come in for a trial and when we finally did we timed it to be there when the sales associate told us to come and yet were treated like we were trying to sneak in. We went to talk to the front desk and the sales associate said ā€œI am just coming!ā€ This upset my husband who said, ā€œwell you are now an hour and 15 minutes late.ā€ Craig the sales associate had the nerve to say ā€œI donā€™t need to be yelled at.ā€ This was not yelling, but being understandably upset by Craigā€™s I couldnā€™t care less about you or your time attitude. The worst part was an older woman stepped in and started defending Craig saying ā€œhe has been working really hard.ā€ He had not even spoken to us. Him being busy does not warrant treating us this way. I still do not understand what we were waiting for. I didnā€™t need a tour or to sign anything as I had done that. I made this clear. Craig wouldnā€™t answer to why we had to wait for him and didnā€™t have us sign anything. We had a half hour to try the sauna before needing to pick up our kids from their trial class and I never got to work out. I am in such shock of the horrible treatment and in acting like we were in the wrong. This is definitely a system problem within David Llyod. If our appointment was lost then there should be a plan in place. Craig acted as if he was doing us a huge favour trying to ā€œfit us inā€ before his next appointment, but didnā€™t actually do anything with us. My morning was lost to this and it certainly speaks poorly on the staff of David Llyod.

Very happy with the club. Been a member for 2 years now and they are constantly updating the facilities which is great. For example the new tennis courts are very good and the new spa is amazing! A member for 20+ years, excellent facilities, a little expensive compared to competition BUT frustrated at the number of "permanently locked" mens lockers. seems to take a complete refurb to reset.

šŸ˜  I have had the worst treatment by the staff here. I came with my two year old daughter and wanted to use the little shallow pool. Whilst I was working out on Monday 26th September at around 20:45, a man walked in not once but twice to grab some weights, as if there werenā€™t enough in the bigger hall. There should be stricter measures to ensure that the lad...

šŸ«¤ This is a good budget gym and the facilities are overall really good. One major drawback are the lockers. There is a big problem with lockers that don't lock as the locks are jammed. I reported this several times to management who it would seem have ignored this! Despite this poor complaint resoluti...
