πŸ‘πŸ‘ We had an amazing time on the Hickory Creek celebrating NJ Transit's 40th anniversary! The UR Historical Society did a wonderful job organizing this event. Everything was so nice and professional. They provided drinks and snacks on the train, as well as a delirious lunch. We hope to see more events... Really impressed with the collection, as well as with the volunteers that pour their time and love into the upkeep and presentation of trains here. We really enjoyed the open museum day, and look forward to coming another time.

This was a wonderfully curated experience, riding the Hickory Street. The staff (Lou Capwell and team) went above and beyond their duty and the food cooked by Laura, was gourmet. The attention to detail was visible everywhere. This ride was a surprise to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday and the staff brought out the cake with a candle on it, everyone sang "Happy Birthday" and made it very special for us. The 2.5 hour break at Albany was just enough for us to visit the NY State Capitol - all in all a perfect experience, which started at the beautiful Metropolitan train lounge at the newly done up, Moynihan train hall in Penn Station. Highly recommend riding with Hudson River Rail Excursions.

This far exceeded our expectations. We went with the lower price point, and it did not disappoint. The sandwiches were yummy; you can bring your own bottle; and the seats are all facing each other, lending itself to making friends, which we did. Then for our two hour stop, we walked across the Dunn Memorial Bridge. Such fun.

I took a train ride on the 29th Century Limited from NY Penn to Albany, it was an amazing experience. The restored Hickory Creek car was beautiful and it was a pleasure riding up the Hudson shoreline and seeing all the sites along the way. The food, drinks and service were wonderful. I’d love to go in the fall sometime as well.

We had a great day on the excursion up and back along the Hudson River. The 1940’s railroad cars were fun to be on. The service was first class and very attentive. We also met some very interesting people on our journey. We highly recommend the trip

It was outstanding πŸ‘ service. It was an awesome start at the metropolitan lounge in Amtrak. Also, the seats were good and the food was excellent. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. I would do this again and recommend it to anybody who wants a fun ride.

We rode the May 11th trip on the Hickory Creek. The ride was a blast, with very friendly people, most of whom did not seem to be rail buffs, but experienced travelers looking for a unusual trip. The food and the service was first rate, and of course the view out the car window at 79 MPH can't be beat.

Incredible journey with fabulous hospitality. The history came alive with this trip up to Albany on the 20th Century. The knowledge of the staff truly was both entertaining and educational. I don’t think of myself as a train buff but I am now! The food was good.

What a magnificent way to spend a full day. Three good friends and I started out in the First Class lounge at the new Moynihan Penn Station from where we caught a restored 1948 train car that ran along the Hudson River from NYC to Albany, let us off for a couple of hours when we explored the Capital (actually caught a taxi to the Schuyler Mansion) and then returned. Kevin was a knowledgeable and entertaining host, the service was first class, and the lunch perfectly adequate. We brought along a bottle of wine which they chilled and served to us on the way home. Can't recommend this highly enough. It was fun that some people dressed in period attire, but the rest of us were dressed in business attire so the tone was very nice and felt so authentic.

What a First Class experience! We were treated like Royalty, and the staff were all experts on the 20th Century and the places we passed. Fantastic!

Everything from check-in at the Amtrak Metropolitan Lounge to the ride along the Hudson River to Albany was great. The atmosphere in the Tavern Lounge car gave a feel for what first class train travel must have been like in the1940's. A variety of sandwiches and soft drinks were provided during the trip as the Attendant assigned to the car enthusiastically served the passengers. Upon arrival in Albany, there was about a two hour layover. We used the opportunity to take an Uber to the State Capital building (10 minute ride). On the ride back to Penn Station, dessert was provided and the opportunity to tour the historic Hickory Creek car was a nice way to end the trip. Kudos to Kevin and staff for the travel back in time! Perhaps someday a NYC to Washington DC trip, with an option to get off (southbound)/on (northbound) in Philadelphia can be added.
