LGBTQ Friendly and Positive Space Attended an author reading here who experienced in his youth, racism and homophobia from schoolmates and neighbours, but in maturity his attitude and tone was positive supported by a packed room of fans. The space had a stage with seats and bright lights allowing everyone a good clear view of author and interviewer. Downstairs an information lobby and cafe were open to the public. Note: two mixed gender washrooms were an intriguing experience and maybe mixed bath houses will follow this equality trend?

This is a important community resource for the NYC LGBT+ community. It has so much to offer. If you're a visitor make sure to stop in to the cafe they have great coffee and snacks, and there's a lot of really good art on display including perhaps one of the most important ever painted by Keith Haring.

Head up the stairs to the bathroom to see the 360° mural by Keith Haring, Once Upon a Time, from 1989.

If you love a lgbtq person or are one: Be sure to stop by this institution/historical landmark in the heart of the village and say hello! They have excellent resources and info available, rotating art shows throughout the building, a coffee bar, and are a very helpful friendly bunch. Because it takes a healthy village to raise healthy children into healthy adults; The Center continues to enrich the lives of our children and yours!! 💚 Donate if you can 💚 Stonewall was a Riot!

The Center is a fantastic community resource where everyone is welcome. Their array of programs and events is commendable, addressing the varied needs of the LGBTQ+ community. Don't miss the Keith Haring mural on the second floor, a transformative piece once set in a men's bathroom. Highly recommended for both locals and visitors!

So let me just start by saying that the center , is very resourceful and the concepts are amazing BUT the professionalism the people that work there , lack ? Horrendous. I’ve gone there several times and they’re either at the front gossiping, cursing up a storm or too busy talking to each other to properly acknowledge the people standing in front of them. Now, I am not saying that you shouldn’t converse with your colleagues but there’s also a time and place. I shouldn’t have to listen to you calling each other all types of B’s and H’s. I can honestly go on but I’ll stop there. I’m honestly not sure how to even take the facility seriously when these are the type of people who represent you. It’s a big no for me. They got 3 stars instead of 2 because the fact they help people , in need is commendable but then the employees tarnishes that image.

Hello, I need help. I live in Russia and belong to the LGBT community. I want to escape to the United States through the Mexican border and get political asylum. For legal crossing, I need a GUARANTOR (sponsor), I have limited time and finances, soon the borders of Russia will be closed and conscription will begin, I don’t want to go to Ukraine to fight, I want to live in a free country and be a free person. Please become my sponsor or find someone who can become one

Happy World AIDS Day! Great place, great Atmosphere. The only issue I have with the Center is unless you buy a Coffee at the Coffee shop, there is not much room for the community to hang out such as lounges, cosy spaces and dropins like you would find in Canada. I think it can be a little intimidating. I came once for a coffee and there was no sitting available, I then went all over this gigantic place and all I saw was empty rooms, not available to public and been told it’s to rent. About the programs, it seems the Manhattan LGBT community is very Senior and adult proof, with most of the programs dedicated to youth. I think the LGBT center of New York City could be much more. So far, I don’t see much difference with Starbucks. I don’t see any displays of brochures or any variety in the intake to adjust to people diversities. If I was homeless, I probably would come in and go out in the second feeling a bit overwhelmed to be in a Capital One Café like environment. Where are the hearts and flags on the wall and all that? Here’s my take for the day. Love. Also, it’s world AIDS Day. A big ribbon on the wall, perhaps, New York City?

I called seeking housing services for a friend, and the referral guide Miller forwarded to me, got them into temporary housing! It's refreshing to know that there's quality help available at The Center. 🙂
