My
S/O
was
admitted
for
emergency
surgery
on
8/24,
which
was
exactly
2
weeks
after
his
first
one.
Mind
you,
the
first
surgery
was
non-emergency
-
it
was
important
to
have
done.
On
8/10,
Dr.
Kuhn
performed
an
arthroscopic
shoulder
reconstruction
procedure
at
MCAOS
(Middlesex
Center
For
Advanced
Orthopedic
Surgery).
The
surgery
was
indeed
a
success
and
it
went
smoothly.
Fast
forward
13
days
-
to
8/23.
That’s
when
we
knew
something
was
wrong.
4
out
of
5
incisions
looked
great.
There
was
one
that
stood
out
and
cause
us
to
be
incredibly
concerned.
It
was
red
and
raised.
We
were
back
in
Middletown
at
MOSA
(Middlesex
Orthopedic
and
Spine
Associates)
for
a
follow-up.
That’s
where
we
were
informed
that
the
1
surgical
incision
was
infected.
Lots
of
oozing
and
drainage.
Talk
about
a
scare!
Roughly
3
hours
after
getting
home,
I
made
a
phone
call
to
the
after
hours
on
call
center.
Not
too
long
after,
I
received
a
call
back
from
the
on
call
physician
who
was
incredibly
helpful
and
kind!
She
recommended
gauze
and
large
bandages
to
help
keep
the
situation
under
control.
I
did
exactly
was
the
doctor
recommended.
Things
seemed
to
be
under
control
thereafter..
I
woke
up
on
the
morning
of
8/24/23,
to
my
S/O
saying
“OMG,
the
incision
is
leaking
an
immense
amount
of
puss!”
So
I
immediately
called
MOSA
and
explained
what
was
transpiring.
They
then
made
a
phone
call
to
Dr.
Kuhn,
who
said
he
needs
to
go
up
to
Middlesex
Hospital
immediately
for
emergency
surgery.
We
got
there
before
the
scheduled
surgery
time
and
checked
in.
The
procedure
went
well.
It
was
done
within
under
1
hour.
All
hardware
that
was
put
in
on
8/10/23
was
removed
-
because
of
the
infection
that
was
affecting
that
one
incision.
My
S/O
spent
the
night
on
8/24
and
8/25.
He
was
out
on
antibiotics
by
way
of
an
IV.
His
care
team
-
which
consisted
of
some
of
the
most
incredible,
compassionate,
kind,
empathetic,
and
caring
people
were
all
so
fabulous!
Carin,
the
RN
and
Emily,
the
PCT
-
both
whom
I
had
the
pleasure
of
meeting
(while
visiting
my
S/O).
Nothing
but
top
notch
care
from
Carin
and
Emily!
Only
concern
I
had
about
Middlesex
Hospital
was
the
nurses
working
3rd
shift
-
who
were
caring
for
another
patient
on
the
other
side
of
the
hospital
room
curtain.
Poor
guy
was
in
an
incredible
amount
of
pain!
The
nurses
caring
for
him
failed
to
follow
the
bodily
fluids
protocol!
They
did
not
flush
anything
containing
the
other
patient’s
blood
down
the
toilet.
Talk
about
being
grossed
out.
🤮
(I
know
blood
is
part
of
the
human
body
and
it’s
100%
natural),
but
to
see
amounts
of
it
throughout
the
bathroom
was
not
needed!
🙄
Oh
and
the
trash
cans
(bathroom
and
hospital
room)
were
full
of
bloody
syringes,
amongst
other
things
covered
in
blood!
Not
gonna
lie,
I
was
not
cringing
and
went
into
the
bathroom
where
I
gagged.
The
sight
of
all
that
blood
was
stomach
churning.
I
am
giving
a
4
star
review
-
only
because
of
the
3rd
shift
nurses
not
properly
disposing
of
body
fluids.
Other
than
that
one
mishap
aka
job
being
done
against
hospital
protocols/policies,
I
would
go
back
to
Middlesex
Hospital.
Nothing
but
professionalism
and
integrity
there.
Carin,
Emily,
Dr.
Kuhn,
and
all
other
MH
employees
who
cared
for
my
S/O
-
I
appreciate
you
all
immensely
and
am
very
grateful
for
all
you’ve
done
for
him!
Shoutout
to
Vincent
“Vin”
Capece
-
you
sir
are
the
epitome
of
a
hospital
CEO!
Thank
you
for
being
incredible
and
I
hope
you’ll
stick
around
at
Middlesex
Hospital
for
a
long
time.
