Went to this facility seeking medical attention after I woke up with my foot being completely numb, I was in excruciating pain. When I got to the facility the physician at the time went into the room and asked me what was going on and after I tell him he proceeds to tell me that I am a big person which could be part of why I am having sever back pain and that it should go away. I received an injection and went home. The whole visit was less than 20 minutes. I received a $3,000 bill for this mediocre visit and when I reached out to pay the bill and expressed that I was not able to afford what the total was each month for a payment plan, I was told that it is what it is and that they are not a fast food place where a menu with prices is available to patients. Kimberly whom I spoke with at the billing office then stated that if I don’t make the payments that they will send me to collections. It costs $1,400 to just walk in just so that people are aware before going to this place. It is was another $1,400 if you get an injection. It’s sad to think that this part of the reason people are turning away from seeking medical attention. This is sad. Worst hospital will never return even if it’s life threatening.

I brought my daughter to the ER because an abnormal cough and the doctor said that she was okay and that there are other patients that needed him as if my daughters health is irrelevant. After I pushed for him to do something they did an x ray. I waited for a result on her X-ray and no one came back with any information about it but instead a nurse came to the room just to ask what pharmacy I prefer. I then asked for the results of the x ray and another Nurse came inside the room with a nasty attitude explaining the X-ray results, telling me to see the pediatrician and that the process will be a long one. No respect for patients, make you feel less important than others. I do not recommend this hospital.

Absolute worst experience in a hospital setting. Would leave 0 stars but that isn't an option.... Pain management i is very clearly not a priority for Middlesex Hospital. I have been in the hospital since Monday in excruciating pain. As a Registered Nurse I offered suggestions as to what may help since nothing I had been given had helped yet, and was told "No". No explanation from a physician just, "no". Day 5. high anxiety after a procedure, asked for medication to help with my anxiety. I was told by two doctors they would "look into it" and 7 hours later, finally was told "No". I asked to speak with the doctor who told me they don't start patients on new medications in the hospital, I assured her I was not looking to start a new medication regimen just needed something to help relax me so iI could try to get some rest since my pain has been keeping me up every night for five nights. This doctor had an attitude and insisted there was a policy against prescribing drugs patients aren't already on (?????) NO apology, no empathy. Do not recommend coming here or bringing a loved one to this hospital if you have the choice. Patient care is NOT a priority..

We are so happy, thankful and appreciative of the professionalism, level of care, attentiveness, and overall service that the entire staff gave us during our troubling and scary time of need. Every aspect of my wife's visit was perfection. The standard was more than exceptional and we will always be grateful for Middlesex Hospital. Thank you all for taking care of my wife.

I witness my sister-in-law birth at Middlesex after having given birth three times elsewhere. Do not go to this hospital. The nurses are very ignorant of the birth process and the doctor she had(female) was brutal, disrespectful, and cruel. Birth is a beautiful process and this experience made me cry myself to sleep. Please go somewhere better.

The people here are unbelievably rude. Everyone. The woman at the front desk. The woman who gave me the ultrasound. The woman at the desk upstairs. The head nurse. The doctors of course are the worst of it. I had a such traumatic experience here. So much so that I went to an emergency room in another town to give birth. Rather than deal with the doctors and the staff in this hospital. I would recommend yale-new haven, or danbury hospital if you want to be treated with respect. Oh, and a side note they make you share bathrooms with other women in labor. They actually sent me into a room where a woman was in active labor so I could pee in her bathroom. And they tampered with my medical file which was incomplete and had strange inconsistencies, this was mentioned to me by the hospital I actually gave birth in.

Be aware, Wesleyan parents! If you pay for your child's costs at Wesleyan and your child has your insurance from out of state, you could be asked to pay a hefty bill for a minor procedure from this hospital. This is what happened to my daughter when she got sent by the campus doc to Middlesex Hospital for x-ray to check on a minor injury out of sports. While the initial statement from Middlesex estimates our insurance payment to cover the bulk of the costs, they eventually determined that this hospital was out-of-network for our insurance and we were responsible for close to $1,000! True, the campus doc needs to be more aware of the cost implications of sending a student to an off-campus facility, for which I will try to communicate separately. My daughter surely learns the lesson. However, what troubles me is the conversation I had with the staff I spoke with at the hospital's financial assistance department. After finding out that we "make too much to be eligible for financial assistance", I tried to suggest that the hospital communicate with the Wes health clinic so they are more aware of this issue next time they refer students out, for example, I am sure there are other options for X-rays in Middletown that are less expensive, or, for cases like ours that are not life-and-death, advise students to seek care from a network provider. Instead of offering compassion and understanding, the staff was very judgemental and condescending. They laid every blame on us - "you should be responsible for finding out about your cost", and, "you should be grateful that your daughter's injury was not serious." I know our health care system is broken and it is not the fault of any single entity. But this kind of attitude is not helpful but hurtful.

I was seen last Sunday by ambulance, upon arrival I was in extreme pain in my ankle and foot. Upon arriving the attending nurse (I did not remember her name ) but she stated she was from Louisville. I requested her to help me to change into a gown, she stated to me how got dressed before I arrived and told her I had a difficult time doing so. Rudely she stated "exactly ". And shut the door. Then the attending Doctor just referred me to my personal Doctor . No blood test as I requested. I will never forget the the awfulness to help .

Had some of the worst possible experiences dealing with Middlesex Hospital. They fraudulently billed me on several occasions for extremely poor service with padded billing. Charged me 1500 dollars for an aide to put a pulse oximeter on me that didn't work before (after waiting for several hours) went somewhere else. Billed me close to. 30,000 dollars for rabies vaccine. My fault though. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. If you want to become broke and or dead go to Middlesex!

HORRIBLE! My cell phone was taken by staff and “I was told they were locking it up in Nurses station” I was in a locked wing of hospital so patients have NO access! The next day the PCT came in and told me phone was gone and they were looking through belongings to look for it. Numerous staff said they looked. When the PCT brought my personal belongings there was only a charger. For a whole week I sat in hospital despite being told I did not belong ! Well after a week of cold food which I had to send back daily I demanded to go home. Mind you I had no money or cards so they had to order me an Uber. I was told br psychiatric nurse security was reviewing tape I never got any answers and when I questioned no one came back ! This was EVERYDAY! So on day of discharge I asked for a letter explaining my phone was stolen. I was told by the social worker and behavioral health staff with that a letter would be provided. All staff apologized that this happened so the whole floor is a witness. I was told also by SW and BHC that they spoke to the quality people? And since they were at fault they were going to refund my phone. Then they came back and said a limit for replacement was 1200 and something. My phone costed 1400 and some! I explained they need to replace my TOTAL PHONE. as they lost it and no patients had any access I told them I would accept no less also I had. 35$ case and 49 screen saver. This I felt should be compensated completely before I accept less for phone. On discharge day I asked if I could get police case number as my license was taken as well as several credit cards. Long story short Staff we’re very nice!!! But the way they treat people when THEY are at fault and then defaults on giving me a requested letter for proof!!!! Now I have to fight this and went there for being depressed!!!

LACK OF COMMUNCATION. 87 yr old aunt was brought to ER for fractured ankle. ER was wonderful keeping me updated. She was admitted and it went downhill from there. Nurses were great. Drs and discharge no communication at all. Asked for the Dr to call me, never received a call. Discharge is sending her to rehab that I said not to. Discharge went in to see her (87 yr old with memory issues)gave her choices and of course she picked the one that was familiar to her. 5 STARS to ER and 5 STARS TO nurses on 5th floor. 0 stars to everyone else.

Entered hospital in severe hypertensive crisis. Next day Nurse Ashland (would not give her last name) insisted I take a wheelchair van home at my expense. I said I use Uber. She said No,too much liability. After waiting almost 3 hours and no van I said I need to take a .hypertension med to avoid another crisis. She said No you are discharged. I asked again and she called security and wheeled me to an unstaffed waiting room and left saying wait another hour or.so. I calléd Uber and left trying to wheel myself up a ramp with a torn right shoulder I felt my life was in danger Esp at age 81

I have nothing bad to say about this office. I guess wait times on the phone can be really long sometimes. Other than that the front office staff and medical team are great. I originally came here only because it was a follow up from a Middlesex hospital stay. I liked the Dr and needed to find a Dr office in CT. I Transitioned from my Dr office in MA a little over a year ago and I'm glad I did. Dr Read is great, as well as any other Dr I have seen there. Not to mention the My-Chart app makes life much easier as well. I would recommend this office in a second. Thanks Dr. Read.

I have severe anxiety. Just panic attacks. Non confrontational or violent. I was locked in a room for 16 hours without any consultation or acknowledgement from anyone. Just for being scared. And then then my jewelry was stolen and never returned even though I called later. And they want me to pay a bill.

I was sent to the CCU from the emergency room for a few days after I suffered cardiac arrest. I was really pleased with the nurses, doctors and facility. They were friendly, professional and caring. Compared to friends situations in other hospitals, this was by far the best in comfort, care and attentiveness that I’ve seen in my experience.

Its criminal how I was treated yesterday in the Emergency room. Rude staff, 6 hours to get results from a cat-scan, came back as an eye socket fracture and I told them the incident happened 2 weeks ago and I could barely eat. They did absolutely nothing, no help with pain management and or sleep aid. And they gave me a facial surgeon number who doesnt take my insurance. Then I lodged a complaint for this lady to call back and be rude off the get-go and offer no furthur assistance. Probably cost me 5000 dollars or more for nothing

I can't speak for the whole hospital, but everyone who took care of me for surgery was kind. I had a good experience. PS, a lot of these bad reviews are clearly people who should have gone to urgent care instead of wasting people's time in the ER. Learn what a medical emergency is.

I was recently here for an extended stay, I was in the rehabilitative portion of the hospital. The staff treatment was like playing Jeopardy. Some good some bad. Ultimately turns out they respond based on your behavior. I think the hospital stay was OK. I would recommend more rehabilitative services. Music, journaling, art, coping skills, not generic, outdated modalities, that do not serve the modern world and people who truly need rehabilitation. The staff are all sexy though. Lol. Also, notable to mention: one of the staff sent me home in Nike s cardigan when I showed up in a tank top🙏🏽

Absolutely phenomenal! Had my daughter at Middlesex and my team was exceptional. Dr. McLeod was the doctor on when I first went into the hospital and Dr. Erica Smith was my delivering doctor, Dr. Mirante was my anesthesiologist who placed my epidural within 30 minutes of them ordering them, my nurses Megan G, Megan S, Golda and Sam Z. All of my nurses went above and beyond. Highly recommended!!

Arrived 1-4-23 for UTI. Promptly taken care of in ER, provided comfortable bed. Services were prompt, well explained, and friendly staff. Staff listened carefully to my concerns, attended to by Dr. Stanf (?) Ran all tests quickly and was able to leave 1/6. Recommend this hospital over Manchester any day.

From the information desk to the outpatient surgery department all staff were respectful and helpful. I needed an urgent procedure performed and the care was excellent. All the support staff, nurses, anesthesiologist and physicians were concerned for my safety and well being. Thanking all the staff for their assistance with this medical issue.

My dad was admitted and subsequently died 2 weeks later. The entire time he was admitted I was adamant that he was very ill and questioned needs to be out on hospice and comfort measures. Numerous times, I was told things like “he’s not dying any time soon” or “it’s a bit early for that”, and reassured the plan was discharged to rehab and pain management. I think it’s sad that a layman like myself could tell he was in the phase of life we all dread but his care provider had no clue. If you want quality care, go somewhere else! However, I will say that when he finally did make it to the hospice floor (after I called an outside physician in desperation who went to the hospital and wrote the clinical that allowed the transfer) the hospice nurses are 5 star! As is the hospice team. Very caring amazing people! My dad died with the best care at his side.

My wife just had our second child here. Our first child was the easiest experience ever (for me lol) but my wife had a pleasant experience as well. Everyone is amazing and the team works hard to make sure everything goes as smooth as possible! Our second child had a little more trouble because when we got there she was READY! The team worked fast, safely and hard to make sure everything was taken care of in a timely manner. Without a doubt the nicest hospital staff I have ever met and i would not hesitate to go here in the future!

from the emergency room doctors, nurses and ambulance services Middlesex Hospital does it RIGHT! Hospital stays are difficult under any circumstances however, Middelsex Hospital truly made the experience tolerable and comfortable The YALE experience was nothing short of FRIGHTENING, DIRTY and extremely stressful. The staff and nurses were all patient, caring and extremely professional, knowledgeable and RESPECTFUL . The patient was a difficult one however, again he was treated with respect and DIGNITY! Middelsex hospital was clean and the staff were very attentive. Thank you to all of the Smart and caring doctors and staff.

The guy in triage was very nice, thoughtful and kept reassuring they were doing their best. However upon going in I was set up in the hall way for hours. Not one nurse or staff came to me for almost 2.5 hours. The nurse attempted to diagnose me before even doing any tests on me. Told me I just had a cough, was not there for a cough. I requested something more. Some of the nurses were just chatting and didn’t know which patients belonged where. Seemed pretty unorganized. I understand it’s an ED but, could have been more professional

My grandmother had to go to the ER in extreme pain , she had to wait nearly 3 hours before anything was done to help her. She was supposed to be admitted for observation and had to wait in the ER for another 4 hours with one thin blanket and a flat pillow. She needed her gallbladder removed and was in terrible pain and the staff was so cold and just seemed like she was just an annoyance to them.

This hospital is amazing. I went into labor almost 6 weeks early and had a very quick progressing labor and delivered within 2.5 hours of arriving at the hospital. The doctors and nurses made everything as comfortable as possible and made me feel at ease every step of the way. Particularly Dr. Morr and the nurse Denise were phenomenal in my delivery as well as my OB Dr. Bony. Due to my little one being premature, she spent 12 days in the special care nursery. This is of course an incredibly stressful situation but it ended up being a very positive experience to look back on thanks to the wonderful staff. Golda, Courtney, Brynna, Kaitlin, Rhonda, Lauren, and a couple male APRN/PA staff (can't remember their names!) were absolutely incredible. The staff treated my daughter like she was their own with such care and compassion keeping my husband and I informed every day and making sure we were never left with unanswered questions. The lactation consultants Tarin and Lisa were always around and checking in on my concerns (I had lots of them) and gave me as much help and advice as possible. The social worker (I believe her name is Mary) also popped in to see me a few times and check how I was holding up. To top it off, the head of the nursery sat down and had a chat with me towards the end of my daughter's stay and also followed up with a phone call about a week later. I will forever be grateful for the exceptional care my family has received by Middlesex Hospital.

🧸They tried to steal my babies twins!! I needed to b on a contraction monitor. Also a baby heart beat monitor. The jamacian lady who works in the nursery and dilivery area told me my twins had no heart beats. Her phone rang and a second ñurse came in and took over while the Jamaica lady did a job and the other lady found the heat beat within 1 minute.i cryed when I left. Sucks because have my twins in 3 weeks. I don't even want to havey babies there any more but I do so I know where to find birth certificates in the future. Very scary and emotional. I never want to c her again. . thanks Middlesex!! Bad experience, 😷🧸

My S/O was admitted for emergency surgery on 8/24, which was exactly 2 weeks after his first one. Mind you, the first surgery was non-emergency - it was important to have done. On 8/10, Dr. Kuhn performed an arthroscopic shoulder reconstruction procedure at MCAOS (Middlesex Center For Advanced Orthopedic Surgery). The surgery was indeed a success and it went smoothly. Fast forward 13 days - to 8/23. That’s when we knew something was wrong. 4 out of 5 incisions looked great. There was one that stood out and cause us to be incredibly concerned. It was red and raised. We were back in Middletown at MOSA (Middlesex Orthopedic and Spine Associates) for a follow-up. That’s where we were informed that the 1 surgical incision was infected. Lots of oozing and drainage. Talk about a scare! Roughly 3 hours after getting home, I made a phone call to the after hours on call center. Not too long after, I received a call back from the on call physician who was incredibly helpful and kind! She recommended gauze and large bandages to help keep the situation under control. I did exactly was the doctor recommended. Things seemed to be under control thereafter.. I woke up on the morning of 8/24/23, to my S/O saying “OMG, the incision is leaking an immense amount of puss!” So I immediately called MOSA and explained what was transpiring. They then made a phone call to Dr. Kuhn, who said he needs to go up to Middlesex Hospital immediately for emergency surgery. We got there before the scheduled surgery time and checked in. The procedure went well. It was done within under 1 hour. All hardware that was put in on 8/10/23 was removed - because of the infection that was affecting that one incision. My S/O spent the night on 8/24 and 8/25. He was out on antibiotics by way of an IV. His care team - which consisted of some of the most incredible, compassionate, kind, empathetic, and caring people were all so fabulous! Carin, the RN and Emily, the PCT - both whom I had the pleasure of meeting (while visiting my S/O). Nothing but top notch care from Carin and Emily! Only concern I had about Middlesex Hospital was the nurses working 3rd shift - who were caring for another patient on the other side of the hospital room curtain. Poor guy was in an incredible amount of pain! The nurses caring for him failed to follow the bodily fluids protocol! They did not flush anything containing the other patient’s blood down the toilet. Talk about being grossed out. 🤮 (I know blood is part of the human body and it’s 100% natural), but to see amounts of it throughout the bathroom was not needed! 🙄 Oh and the trash cans (bathroom and hospital room) were full of bloody syringes, amongst other things covered in blood! Not gonna lie, I was not cringing and went into the bathroom where I gagged. The sight of all that blood was stomach churning. I am giving a 4 star review - only because of the 3rd shift nurses not properly disposing of body fluids. Other than that one mishap aka job being done against hospital protocols/policies, I would go back to Middlesex Hospital. Nothing but professionalism and integrity there. Carin, Emily, Dr. Kuhn, and all other MH employees who cared for my S/O - I appreciate you all immensely and am very grateful for all you’ve done for him! Shoutout to Vincent “Vin” Capece - you sir are the epitome of a hospital CEO! Thank you for being incredible and I hope you’ll stick around at Middlesex Hospital for a long time.

The absolute WORST HOSPITAL TO GO TO FOR EMERGENCYs. Got to the hospital at 1:15pm. Was finally put in a room at 1:45 to wait another 4 hours before getting any Doctor to treat my open bloody wound.... Don't come here for actual emergencys you'll be staying the day/ night. Probably work a shift

The care and staff at the hospital is excellent and the facility is very nice. That said, it is very discouraging as the legal medical care giver to a family member the total lack of communication from the attending doctors. I have called several times, as well as, spoken to the nurses in person asking for the doctors to call me. Day 3 and still the doctors have not had the curtesy to make a 5 minute phone call. So it leaves me, as well as, the members in our family in total distress. This is not the first time we have experienced this. It is a big problem with this hospital. The nurses are only able to give a certain amount of information. We have not had this issue at other hospitals we have dealt with. Another issue I have is that the staff is not very Covid cautious at this point. Several staff members throughout the facility have their mask down even when they are outside of their work stations. It is very concerning when you have a very sick family member in this hospital where them contacting Covid or other respiratory illnesses would likely be catastrophic.

I was admitted to North 7 recently. The nurses were so friendly when I needed that the most. The Psychiatrist that I saw while there, Dr. Castro, was so nice. He was very thoughtful and wise. The help I received during my stay was extraordinary! I left feeling positive and rejuvenated. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart to everyone from the Techs, nurses and my favorite Psychiatrist ever, Dr. Castro. I'll never forget the way in which I was treated. Happy holidays to you all.

Went to the ER at 1:30am on New Years because I was having contractions (past my due date) and they brought me up to labor and delivery right away. I ended up being admitted in the morning and the nurses and doctors in the Maternity wing were absolutely amazing. My delivery wasn’t the easiest but everyone was super supportive, especially nurses Laura and Michelle (I think it was Michelle who took over) during and immediately after labor. I can’t say a single bad thing about any of the nurses or staff in general that I came across during my 2.5 day stay from the overnight nurses that checked me in to the nurse that discharged me and my baby girl . ❤️
