Really nice beach park although I wouldn't really say it's a beach more of a bay with a sand area to relax. Water looks clean enough to go in. This isn't a typical beach with waves. I saw some folks in the water. Theres tennis basketball courts picnic areas . Recommended time to go is when all the activities are open . You do need to pay for parking. There is also a nice boardwalk.

North Hempstead residents only at this time due to Covid-19 controls. Generally a quiet place to kick back at the beach. Water is calm and best at high tide. Good spot for a late afternoon walk to enjoy the sunset.

Nice park with playground, volleyball, basketball, and beach. There is a place where you can buy snacks and another where you can rent a kayak or paddle board. The beach was rocky so, not so nice and the water was murky and cold (early June).

It is free during the winter season. Windy but very refreshing Good spot for walking, fresh air, and relaxing from the hustle and bustle of a big city

It's out of the way from public transportation and there is a fee for parking. It's somewhat small but a peaceful place with a nice view of Long Island Sound.

Its a very nice place to visit with families. It is open from morning to sun down It has parking ticket on entrence till 5:00 pm after that its free Pricing of the ticket varies with where you come from and what vehicle you have. It is a perfect place for a bbq in grassy fields while also enjoying all the play ground facilities for kids and adults and beach for all. The beach is rocky sand so bring shoes accordingly.

What happened here ? We visited this beach back from 2018. After every year and enjoy the lantern festival 2019. This year I want to show it to my mom this lovely place. There was always food trucks all over . When we arrived I couldn’t believe we are at the same beach . Orchard or Coney Island become more cleaner . The water was so dirty, parking $20 if you are not a resident with cash ,with card $18 non since double as before $10 bathroom yuck, store closed on saturday ,vending machine out of order, water also when I asked the lifeguard he said sorry but nothing works so only you can drink from the fountain or sink !? (one working out of 3) I still love the area Port Washington is beautiful The bbq area was ok with many people but stay away from the beachside and be prepared with water least if you don’t wanna stay thirsty and suffer on the hot day. We left in 30 min. Won’t be back !

I went early and got to have a parking spot. It was a weekend and got crowded. I had a place to eat on the tables. There was a fishing area and a beach. And most importantly, there was a bathroom. There were many trucks like ice cream, but they sell 5 dolllers for a cone or cup. It is a big place overall.

Regular small beach with shallow water with a little fish swimming on it. Quite clean and maintained. Only a residence can enter as far as my experience

There was garbage everywhere and food all over the ground. Not sure if park employees didn’t start for the season or what the reason would be for this but it’s disgusting.

Its a nice park no doubt, but the reason for the 1 star is the behavior of the park stuff. It seems like they r racist. It was almost dusk we know that the park is gonna close bt the stuff told us in a very rude away. Even the other stuff was very rude towards another asian group who were playing some music. Very very disappointing. Coz this is not the 1st time we were here. Bt this is the 1st time we went without any white companion. Very very rude behavior, everyone should be treated equally.

Great place to relax in the sun but not really to swim. Due to trees has a significant amount of shade so you can take a break without an umbrella. But for those with young kids keep in mind that Mr. Softie is there ALL DAY!!

There's a playground for kids. However, there is sand, so make sure those little ones are wearing shoes that sand can be easily removed from them. There's public BBQs. Remember the word "public" should you be using the public bbq. Make sure to bring some you can put down prior to grilling food, which will be going in your mouth. Yes, there are tables. However, there may not be enough, so you may want to bring your own table or tables depending on how many people you have. Bathrooms may run out of toilets paper so bring your own just in case. There was 2 locations you can use the washroom. 1 location closes at 5-6 depending on when the lifeguards leave. Now for the beach.. the are lots of rocks and broken shells. WEAR WATER SHOES! There aren't many large waves and the water doesn't get too deep. Overall I would go back but be more prepared then I was this time.

Too many restrictions. Limited use. They should allow fishing on the beach where people are not allowed to swim. As a resident and taxpayer I think it is pretty ridiculous to limit already limited North shore water access. The developed recreational areas are great, however. Barbecue, basketball, playground, fishing pier.

Come here at times to eat lunch and relax by the water. It's a quiet park that is fairly well maintained and offers some good views. There are seats and swings along with great courts if you're inclined to get some exercise in as well. If you're in the area, it's a great place to unwind

Wonderful time with friends...the beach was closed that day but there were so many other activities we did to enjoy the beautiful picnic grounds. We played soccer, basketball handball racquetball volleyball jumped rope played our own fun games barbecued on the grills that were plentiful.

Very nice views at this beach. There are quite a few festivals there that are great for families. Nice little spot to just sit back and "enjoy" the scenery. It had a very nice layout but the beach area sucked. Might return.

Nice sandy beach with recreational activities. There’s also a promenade along the ocean front for walking. Nice place for family outings.

Great park area. The beach itself isn’t as impressive as some south shore alternatives - but there is so much to do. Beautiful shoreline trail to walk, plenty of playgrounds, sports and much more.

The place was lovely. The beach was a bit dirty and the staff(one woman in specific) she was very rude on telling our group we couldn’t have a speaker. Our group did not mind putting it away and obliging with the authorized personnel there. We want to also make sure others enjoy. But for it to not be past 9:30am and this lady comes literally yelling in Spanish saying we have to put our speaker away immediately or else we will get taken out the park, like lady, where is the “excuse me, that is not within our guidelines” or however you have to say it but with common courtesy and respect. And then to stand there with her hands on her hips like she wants us to jump up at her comment while we are looking at her because it was just shocking to see someone so angry 1st thing in the am and unsure if we move she’ll think we are being disrespectful. Lady went and park across from our group just to wait and see if we actually went to put our speaker away… this lady was just something else. Not even the entrance attendants were like her, honestly she was the only one that dampened our whole mood and day. When another group came, and with a similar situation, another lady came and POLITELY ASKED for them to put the speaker away. They really were rude because after she lady they did not comply. While our group did

Nice and clean beach. Parking fee for residents and no residents. Not sure why credit or debit card is cheaper than cash but I'll take it. Gets crowded mid day but morning and afternoon quite spacious

Great park/beach it's a little run down due to the fact the town is planning on renovating it in the near future. But they haven't stopped maintaining it. The sand is very nice for a north shore beach. They also have a great paddleboarding/Kayaking rental company there on the weekends @KostslPaddle.
