Bed bugs in the room. The night receptionist apologised and tried to help, found me another room, but lied about the fact he hasn't seen any bed bugs since he's working there for 6 months and that he wasn't sure it was one when I showed him the video (last comment about bed bugs in feb 2022...); the morning receptionist didn't care and refunded my stay only because I asked. Bed bugs are a common complaint at this place be careful

Age restrictions means cannot stay if older than 35 (sic!) owner's policy apparently! Not cool! Never ever came across this kind of policy before! Well I don't like it hence * Receptionist was professional.

Overall pretty good choice for a hostel. St Kilda is a nice backpackers area too. The hostel is basic but for a good price with friendly people and lovely staff!

Stay clear from this hostel! We found bedbugs in the beds and told the owner. He was not helpful at all and went into a rant about how backpackers are scamming him because they find bedbugs and want to get a refund for their stay. Clearly there has been bedbugs there for a while and they are not doing anything about it.

Stayed here for 2 weeks and honestly, this place is fine! Yes it’s a bit old and yes you get what you pay for, which, includes a free breakfast in the morning! That alone in my opinion is worth it! Our room was clean, warm , and the wifi is good which is more than I can say for some other places! Loved the bar downstairs and loved the general vibe of the place! Some people just expect so much and completely forget that they are staying in a hostel!

Very unclean hostel, kitchen and especially showers where so dirty. People in my room (not me) had things stolen, so not so safe. I made a mistake and booked for a night I wasn't in the country for, the only response I got was "sorry we already charged you nothing we can do" witch was very unhelpful and added stress to the trip. I hope others don't get the same treatment in the future. Would have been very easy to give a refund. This is the only bad review I've written in the past 4 months of traveling and countless hostels.

The staff here are amazing and so helpful. I was in a 4 bed female dorm and the one other girl staying there made me feel v uncomfortable and staff were so understanding and helped me to move rooms. Thank you! The pub downstairs is great, a really nice atmosphere and good food. The free breakfast is also really nice. The rooms have plenty of space for luggage and moving around. They're much cleaner than other hostels I've stayed in too. The bathroom is clean and there's plenty of showers too so no queuing to wait for a free one. The hostel is quite quiet generally too which is nice. The location is good, St Kilda is lovely.

Just what we were looking for cheap and cheerful. The staff were always really helpful with any request, especially every time I forgot my keys (which was often). We stayed here for about 4 months, it had everything we needed and close to public transport, chapel street and st kilda. Would definitely recommend to a friend! Thanks for everything!

Only one bed available when we arrived in our room (for 3 of us), then two of us got sent to a 4 bed room where it was only on bed available again. We booked for 3 nights and we decided to leave the place the second day in the morning and the girl in the reception wasn’t friendly at all when I ask for a refund. She argued that we are complaining for no reason and we would't get refunded for that day, we agreed because we just wanted to leave that place but she insisted so much that we were wrong. Anyway, a unnecesary behavior for someone who just what to leave the hostel politely. Don't recomend this hostel at all, they dont have control with the amount of people they have in the rooms, as I said, there was people already in our beds. And that reception girl doesnt know hot to deal with customer's issues. PS. I still havent got any refund yet for the last night

We had a great stay at pints! The rooms were of a good standard considering the price. The discounts available to use downstairs in the pub below was a great addition. The staff were all very accommodating especially Thomas on the front desk who was a legend throughout!!

The hostel is good. The pics say all. This was my first time arriving to a new city, Melbourne. I have learned that we all need to develop our communication skills because once we open our mouth, we tell the world who we are. As a backpacker and a traveler coming from asean countries to Australia, I have seen new things, new experiences and I am appreciated to everyone I met, to every hostel I stayed. I would very much to make my reviews helpful and realistic throughout my pictures

So its a old property, the sheets were clean, the room wasn't it was a mess and too small, no lockers in the room, AND JUST 1 charging points in the whole room, and NO charging socket near bed, which made life difficult. There was breakfast which included bread, several spreads like peanut butter, jam vegemite etc. Along with some cornflakes and milk and coffee, a bare minimum breakfast, there is no elevator, apart from that the staff is really nice and very very helpful but yet the property needs to be maintained properly, toilets were often not clean (they were in the morning, but by mid day, well what can I say). For 40$/ night there are several hostels which are way better than this.

Expect less. I don’t want to be harsh but I’ll be honest. This is the most affordable, oldest, and ugliest room we had ever checked in, here in Australia. 😣 ▪️Queen Room - when you enter, the light switch is a wooden ball hanging on a filthy string. - the heater wasn’t working and it was winter time. I was so cold (July 2023). - the pillows and doona were flat, old and overused. It’s yellowish, I was hesitant to cover to myself coz it looks dirty. For 2 nights, I didn’t sleep well. - the entire room floor was creaking whenever you walked. - TV is on top of a high cabinet far from the plug. - Cabinet was shaky, so we didn’t use it. ▪️Kitchen - wasn’t clean - fridge doesn’t have light and was overloaded with stuffs and smells bad. - entertainment room is messy and not organised. ▪️Toilet - was neat - it has hand towel and hand soap. - my husband said, not the men’s toilet. 👉Good Point: - Customer service was great, the lady who assisted us was nice. - Location is 5-minute walk from the train to CBD. - there’s a bar downstairs until 10pm. - the cheapest hotel we found in a nice location. The whole place looks very nice outside, but completely different inside the hostel. You’ll get what you pay for.

I accidentally booked the wrong period and the wrong hostel! Eggy was so nice and canceled it for me free of charge (even though I wasn't authorized)! he really helped me with that! thank you very much eggy!! When I'm in the area at some point, your hostel is the only option! kind regards!!

Room: It was small, dirty, and doesn't smell good. The lights were turned off at 8 p.m. and I couldn't do anything. Bathroom and Toilet: It's not clean. There is no space to put things in the women's bathroom. I think it would be better to have a place to put things. The staff was kind and nice.

Great hostel, clean rooms and free breakfast downstairs at the bar. Haven't yet had a chance to go to one of their events but will make sure I check them out before I leave. Has a small kitchen area but the bar downstairs offers 25% off all food whilst your staying so it kinda makes up for it. All in all a great hostel for the price.

I just checked in and It's really upsetting to find a rat under your feet while having dinner. I lost my appetite after I saw that Rat living it's life in that kitchen. Really disappointed. Only thing that's kept me here is there's nowhere I could go at midnight. I have traveled throughout Victoria but this the worst experience ever. During these times of covid, cleanliness is the only thing we need and this place is a total mess.

The place itself is not that good. But the receptionist (Nicole) a 10. Excellent person and gave me very good advice about the city.

Best hostel in Melbourne. Good rates, nice pub with great food and drink downstairs and a community feeling. The best thing about Pint on Punt is the staff. They are friendly and make you feel welcome. If you have any issues they sort them out quickly. I stayed here for more than 4 months and if I go back to Melbourne I'll definitely stay here again.

Why is this backpackers not #1 in Melbourne??? Probably because it’s competing against its sister backpackers Melbourne City, and The Ritz (above the Ex Elephant & Wheelbarrow pub, St. Kilda). Value for money 10/10, Cleanliness 10/10, Location to City/St. Kilda/Prahan (Chapel St) 10/10, Friendliness of Staff and Management 10/10, Pub downstairs (The Windsor Ale House) 10/10, Pub grub way better than your average local, 10/10, Organised Activities and Entertainment (bit restricted due to current lockdown laws but you can see the effort around the place) 10/10, Internet speed 10/10, the list goes on 10/10. I haven’t felt shower pressure like that since....I thought that a Firemen had broken through the roof and was hosing me down........ my only beef is the breakfast peanut butter comes from the fridge......us poor 1st world problem people . Do yourself a favour and DON'T stay anywhere else when you come to Melbourne, unless it’s 1 of the 3 Sisters which would, I’m sure, replicate the standards here.

Great place good location close to Chappel street and Saint Kilda, the rooms are clean and well priced, but if they increase their rates anytime soon, they will be self over valued and i will go some where else

Nice enough hostel. Right above the Windsor alehouse pub. Very close to chapel street and st Kilda. The staff became like family since we stayed so long.

The place was not the best, however, people were great and a lot of fun. There were no forks available in the kitchen for more than half my stay. Dishes were always dirty and spread out.

Place was as expected for a Hostel. Had a great stay and found everything clean and tidy. The staff were amazing and couldn't fault the service. Saquana (or Sequana or something) was really friendly and accommodating. Even helped out with a problem that I had. Would/Will definitely stay again when the need arises. The pub downstairs is amazing and makes the whole stay that much better.

As an hostel the standard is really low, kitchen lacks space and the fridges too. The rooms are really small. The bar downstairs is actually very good and the free breakfast is very welcome.

Pros: Location is okay and easy to find. Cons: Room is not clean and smelly. Staffs are rude. Breakfast is at 8 but reception was closed until 9.30 One shower only for more than 10 guests.
