Save your family from the stress the heartache - don't let your loved ones go to Wantirna Health (an Eastern Health facility). Since my Grandmother was admitted there the experience for her and my family has been horrendous. Utter incompetence in ensuring medications are administered - key medications have been missed on numerous occasions, causing pain and deterioration. I found a dangerous tablet on the floor, raised this with medical staff though it was completely brushed off. Only a handful of staff have shown the care and compassion you would expect for someone at the end of their life. The remainder have been cold, uninterested or too busy. Nurses are apparently too busy to take the time to communicate with my Grandmother who is unable to speak. They just leave food in the room knowing she is unable to feed herself. We have to keep asking for personal care / hygiene assistance as they don't do it frequently enough. If your loved one is considered "high needs", they want to completely sedate them for convenience rather than clinical reasons. This has been the case for my Grandmother and I have read other reviews about this approach from Wantirna Health. A truly horrible and heartbreaking experience. Wantira Health is disgraceful.

This is difficult because I’ve stayed at Box Hill Hospital three times now and the past two times would have been 5 star ratings. The staff seem to care a lot and treated me really well. On the plus side this time they rushed me through ED and got me a bed and medicine really quickly. That was really nice since I was in incredible pain. They also got me in to an MRI really quickly when I needed one. So that was awesome. What really took away from the experience was the wait I had to see a doctor overnight. I had asked for a breast exam which was outside of my treatment otherwise and the nurse promised I would see a doctor about it. I waited 12-hours with a sore breast, asking my nurse every time only to be told that was something they would not perform as I was being transferred. Even now I have to wait to see a GP after undergoing treatment at two hospitals. Also, I understand there are always bed shortages but my roommates were difficult and made me feel uncomfortable - one even walked into my section of the room a couple times and was way too close to me. Even after I told her I was trying to sleep! If I hadn’t had a back issue I would have moved away since I was really uncomfortable. I told this to the nursing staff and this coupled by my next roommate needing the bathroom a lot and the door not being closed made me feel really uncomfortable in my room. When I needed the bathroom it was almost as if I was an inconvenience as I needed a wheelchair to take me to the next available toilet. The staff seemed to resent me at that point and I think we were both relieved to see me transferred. A lot of times the staff said they were “really busy” which I understand this is probably the one place you can get away with this excuse in the workplace but it just didn’t really make me feel great. They had me thinking I was a nuisance by the time I left! Too bad too as my first couple experiences were great.

The Acute Inpatient team will take care of your child very well, stabilize them in preparation for out-patient treatment and support. They are professional, caring and have provided a critical service. The outpatient CYMHS team (a separate but connected team) was not a good experience so I recommend you try to be flexible if your child doesn't "click" with their support Psych.

Wait time at pharmacy can be round 1 hr and if you are here for specialist appointment in building A, lvl 2.. wait time can be 1.5 to 2 hrs easily. No one tells you reason for delay, reply you get is it's unusual day today otherwise we are on time. They might be trying their best to.improve service but does not seems to be the case to me as visiting every month.

I’ve been visiting the Rheumatology clinic as an outpatient since January this year, after I landed myself in hospital. I come every month or so, and wait sometimes over an hour past my appointment time. I’m a patient person so that is not even a fragment of the issue, despite the fact I work full time and have to book leave to be here - which always run over. I understand there are others with emergencies that need attention. However, I have seen a different rheumatologist every time I visit the clinic (let alone being seen by 7 different rheumatologist in 5 days while I was admitted in hospital!). Despite my medical notes being all on file, each time I visit, they ask me to run through what’s wrong from start to finish. They spend about 20 seconds skimming over my notes and scans, talk at me in jargon medical terms for about 3 minutes (ignoring to explain terms in layman’s terms if I ask), all the while talking in ‘maybes’ about what could be wrong - saying very disempowering things like “you’ve probably fractured your neck” (aaahhh .. you can’t just say things like that! Why don’t you order me a scan to confirm that comment you’ve just thrown at me!?). No sooner do they issue more of the exact same tests I’ve previously done and then rush me our the door like cattle, leaving me no time for questions. All like clockwork. The longest I’ve spent with a rheumatologist is about 7 minutes. I’m tired of the poor process and 0 care factor. I understand my medical condition might be a bit of a mystery, but they definitely do not instil confidence in me that they are really taking the time to solve it with me!!! Totally and utterly unimpressed.

Boxhill hospital has been working to improve staff to patient ratio's all staff are efficient and well equipped for the tasks in front of them. Their manner towards patients is very helpfull and personally connected but very professional at the same time towards all interactions with patients simply lovely experience for me thank you everyone. Absolutely shocking adult mental health services. High turnover of psychiatrists leaving clients with inconsistent care, over medicated and if you are a carer trying to communicate with any of the psychiatrists , I wish you luck. They are cold, uncompassionate, cold, condescending, and not committed to recovery outcomes. Should you have a complex adult with complex mental health issues they will play the ‘consent’ game to their advantage. We have been unacknowledged on many occasions , misinformed, my husband mistaken for our son and accused of being interferring. We’ve had family meetings arranged and not been informed until an hour before it was due to go ahead. They have discharged our son , waiting for the worst scenario to happen even though we had many of his care team sending information weekly to foresee the deterioration and trying to prevent something horrible happening. A week prior to a horrible outcome at the centre happening psychiatrist said - quote “ Unfortunately there are many parents like you, many clients like your son and they often end up incarcerated, overdosed or dead”. Eastern Health adult mental health services definitely do not like to be questioned on their decisions and will not be held accountable, and only selectively answer any questions.Certainly not a pro active, preventative service, just a reactive one. Please look elsewhere for care of your loved ones- because you won’t find any love there.

Very well managed public hospital. State of art facility, friendly staff and fantastic working culture. Providing efficient yet personal patient care in most medical specialties in a demanding population growth corridor. Working with Epworth Eastern next door to distribute resources fairly and efficiently. This is a text book model of a great public hospital, putting patients care and staff well-being ahead of politics and excuses. I wish all public hospitals could learn from Eastern Health.

Went to ED via ambulance & these guys are fabulous! So caring and patient. Even if their quite snowed under, they take their time to listen and look after everybody as quickly as possible. Modern facility as well. I’m deeply grateful for everything they do.

Really a good hospital among many hospitals in Melbourne. Their service is top of the range. Specially in paediatric ward.

5 stars for the staff. But the admin side of things is so bad, i've been an outpatient for 18 odd yrs now. They have no idea stress you to no end, and never once have they passed on things to my local doctor. Very untrust worthy in what they say and do.

I've been here a couple times over the past few years at the Emergency Dept, they've been fantastic. Yes there's a wait but that's to be expected as the injuries we've suffered are relatively small compared to the others that have shown up. The people are warm and caring and friendly.
